This review was chosen algorithmically as the most valued customer feedback.

I recently bought an account on playerauctions and the original owner managed so steal the account back after we had paid for it. This has happened two times. The first time he took it back just after 2 weeks of owning it. The second time he took it back about 3 months later. Paypal refuses to help as well as playerauctions.com. They claim to offer a guarantee towards this exact problem but they refuse to help. The customer service is horrible, all you get from them is a chat box with people who just tell you to email their "trust final resolution center" who takes 15 days at least to get a response back from if you're lucky enough to even get one at all. Don't use this website it is full of scams and fraud

I have to agree about Playerauctions.com. I'm going through the same problem. They took back my account a year later. They make you fill out all this information but it means nothing. They don't read them or they don't know how to read and comprehend.

Anyways, don't buy accounts from another person because the original owner can provide the original credit card and get it back.

~~~~~~~~~~This is an Official PlayerAuctions Response~~~~~~~~~~
@ The OP.
I'm sorry you had a negative experience on our site. If you'd like to legitamize your complaint, please provide an order number, or your PA account name, so that we could appropriately and specifically reply to your complaint. While it does take time for these investigations to conclude, please be rest assured that we do go over them carefully and meticulously. Currently our order success rate stands at around 96.7%, so instances where a seller reclaims the account is only a rare occurrence, and even then... there are times when loss of the account is due to actions initiated by the buyer, such as powerleveling, or purchasing in game currency. This is why we conduct thorough investigations, as our guarantees only protect against actual game account reclamations, or loss of the game account faulted by the seller. Again, if you can provide the specifics of your order, then we can more accurately render you assistance if possible.
@ Muddflap
On the contrary, we read every survey that is posted back to us. And as I mentioned above, loosing access to an account is not necessarily due to the seller initiating a reclaim. Many people who engage in account trading, concurrently participate in purchasing power leveling services, and or in game currency, which can also lead to loss of account access.
You may contact me directly for further assistance: communications@playerauctions.com
Please reference your order number in the subject header.
I have to agree with the customer 'service.' Even the sellers are being treated poorly as of late, so buyer/seller beware!
Just to clarify my thought above; PlayerAuctions has never ripped me off. So I'll take the time and below is my laundry list of issues with PlayerAuctions. I'm taking the time because I like their concept as a whole and it really has a lot of potential for the Users (and not just them collecting money). I am an active user of the site and I have pending gripes.
1. Customer Service: PlayerAuctions, whether you agree or not, promotes itself as a USA Company. I don't care where the business receives their mail, there is nothing USA about PlayerAuctions. The LiveHelp agents don't seem to be primarily English speaking, most responses are copy/pasted, and when going off-script the language barrier really shows. They seem to be friendly and will help you to a degree with information on your order. They claim to be separate from the Financial side of things, so they aren't highly effective in handling anything. These operators will 'escalate' your issue to the proper Dept., but those emails are rarely returned (even more rarely when dealing with money issues).
2. Disbursement Time: PlayerAuctions has a so-called system in place that pays you out based on your Seller Status and pre-defined timeframe. I'd say that 70% of the time, it's accurate...even a few hours early sometimes. With that said; recently I have noticed multiple sellers commenting on pay outs being late by days. Their recourse? Zero. I never feel like PA won't pay us, it's just unfair on we're treated. Who makes the money for PA? The Sellers. Emails aren't returned, there is no working phone #, and the information you get along the way is none. So most of us just sit around at the mercy of whoever sits and does the Paypal payouts. My issue is that PA makes such a big deal of their parameters and measures, but they don't adhere to them themselves.
3. I won't even get into #3 yet, I'm curious of the response I'll get to the above first...if any.
I like PA but I think they're screwing themselves, and the rest of us, by not holding up their end of the bargain. PA has conquered the hard part in gaining an audience and really should shape up and let ALL of us profit from it while we still can. They see $$ either way, but the growth would be exponential if it was done well.
Thanks.
@PlayersAuction_RP,
Now you guys are seriously starting to piss me off. I've contacted you ###ers like 5 times and it's me who always has to send an email to get an update on the status of my ticket which by the way will never get resolved because it's all a crock of ###. All you guys do is give people the run around. Quit trying to act like you guys actually have a 'Support' team. It's one dude and his gay brother running the operation.
In my case, you had since February 2010 to resolve my case. It was plain and simple: Original owner got his account back and there is nothing that can be done. The person who sold the account to me through your site should be held responsible because wasn't the original owner, but that would require you guys doing something about it.
On your reply to me I have two things to say: 1. It's 'lose' not 'loose'. Your mom is loose. If you're going to represent your company, I mean you and your gay brother, then do it with professionalism. 2. I already told you [censored]s like 5x that I called Sony myself and they told me that the original owner claimed his account back by providing the original credit card. Quit doing what you call 'research' into the 'survey' (another misused word on your behalf) and use some common sense.
@muddflap
In my response to you, I included an e-mail address for which you could reach me directly. To date, I have received no correspondence from you. Additionally, I can't even render help on this end as you haven't provided any order details or a PA account name. You've given no identifiable markers for which to verify anything you say, so it is impossible to render any type of assistance. I'm not trying to counter you, but if you want help, please either provide specific information, or contact me directly. My e-mail was presented to you in my initial reply, but I'll re-type it: communications@playerauctions.com
We do allow game account sellers by those who are not the original owner. These people are traditionally known as "re-sellers" and generally operate with a high volume or orders per month. They are rated accordingly by the member base, and as to their track record their feedback scores are transparent. If however we do find that a re-seller has an inordinate amount of complaints, then they are forbidden from any further trading. In the end however, it is up to the buyer whether they wish to purchase from original owners, or account re-sellers. If this process isn't transparent enough, then let me know, and I'll get on to working on it so that it is.
Despite your personal disparages toward me (and my mother), I'm still happy to help you in order to resolve your previous order, but in order to do that, I'll need you to either contact me directly, or provide order details so I can look up this case.
Pura Vida,
Jacob A.
I can now say that my recent issue with PlayerAuctions (above the mother comments) has been resolved and explained. I started faithful and will remain so on the word of the employee I talked to. They seem open to suggestion and maybe we can all take a few minutes and offer our ideas to help PA move forward. They're really the best of the bunch, unless you want to pay a subscription or have a secret handshake. The quality Sellers aren't hard to pick out and the shady types aren't either. Any change is good change and it helps all of us.
I consider my case resolved and will keep you updated in the future.
The PR for Playerauctions asked me to contact him and he would help me out. Even after attempting several times I thought I would try one more time with this guy. The PR reacted very quickly and I am more than happy with the outcome. Obviously, they will go out of their way to help. I wished they had more guys like the PR dude on their staff to handle the problem in the first place.
After saying that, I would like to publicly apologize for my comments. I hope everyone can understand the frustration I was going through since February. Personally, I hope the PR will accept my apology.
They have made it sure I will do business with them again and I am intending to do just that in the near future.
Everyone should definitely do business with them without hesitation. Their business structure, which I find unique, is very safe especially handling accounts over the internet.
@ Notthatguy,
Glad I could help. And yes, we're more than open to suggestions! If you have anything process, communications, design, support for new games or policy suggestions you can send them my way via: communications@playerauctions.com. For website features, player services, and product related suggestions you can send your feedback to us here: http://www.playerauctions.com/help/suggestion/
@ muddflap
I completely understand. Actually, prior to working/even knowing about PlayerAuctions, I was active as a buyer myself, visiting the various gold selling, account selling, and powerleveling websites myself. As much as I'd like to name specific websites I won't, because I don't want this to seem like mudslinging (as some of them are prone to do to us), needless to say... I know FULL WELL how it feels to loose out on one of those sites. I've rather even had heartbreaking experiences from shoddy powerleveling services which got my first WoW account banned with the basic response of "tough luck! sorry!".
Anyway, PlayerAuctions have been here awhile, since 1999. They primarily operated on a small scale for specific games and it wasn't until our relaunch that we've really seen sky rocket growth... so it will simply take time for people to develop a perception of us that we are trying to develop. We're not a huge team here at PlayerAuctions, but rest assured we aren't here to rob anyone. Rather its our goal to legitimize the secondary market in such a way that gets rid of all of the negative things that have come with it (poor service, dishonesty, in-game spam, selling mailing lists, botting and spawn camping, fraudulent payments, the list goes on). And it might seem like media speak, but its true that over 96% of orders created on PA are successfully completed without issue.
In anycase muddflap, you're forgiven of course, and I only hope we can better service you in the future.
@ Shane
I'm sure plenty of users will appreciate additional references to shop for their MMO needs, I'd like to make a case in point. Whether your offering a true opinion, or conducting stealth marketing ;-) it should be noted that comparing thegamesupply.net to PlayerAuctions is somewhat moot as we operate on different business models.
So that everyone can be clear. PlayerAuctions is a consumer to consumer (c2c) marketplace. You can best compare it to eBay of MMORPG's. It is a marketplace where sellers list their offers and determine their OWN price, while buyers are free to peruse items and compare seller feedback. Sellers determine their own profit margins, and because of this... buyers are generally able to buy products AT COST and save tons of money that would otherwise exist in large markups by resellers.
Thegamesupply.net is a business to consumer (b2c) marketplace. They buy accounts from people are significantly reduced prices and resell them at huge markup prices. While this has the advantage of dealing with a single entity, and sales may generally be quicker, they seldom offer support to buyers if game accounts are suspended or reclaimed by the original owners at a later date. Additionally, sellers loose out on the full profit potential their game accounts possess, while buyers generally end up spending far more money than the accounts are actually worth.
PlayerAuctions is starting to offer consignment services for accounts now which means that the prior benefit of going to a b2c company is now a benefit at PA (namely, near instant delivery of game accounts). This is part of our desire to constantly expand our services to both buyers and sellers.
I did another transaction with Playerauctions.com and it went smooth. I purchased 35k gold for a game and in less than ten minutes I had it in my account. I've completely turned my opinion around about them. They are no joke when it comes to helping their customers and they have proven that to me now.
@muddflap & PR
Thats the problem with playerauctions though.. You want help anywhere on their site and you get Koreans with copy/paste responses or emails that happen 2 weeks later with nothing helpful. Do we really have to complain on here before we get any customer service whatsoever? What do you have to say about your 1800 number that leads to no one or the live chat that has the same robot responses? Come on this is not customer service. Click on the Contact Us button and make it mean something so it doesn't have to get this far.
Buying/Selling accounts is a total major scam. If you don't have the original credit card and game serial key, then you will lose the account eventually. It's a scam most sellers use. Normally they wait a while depending on how desperate and amount of accounts they have. I have had accounts where they waited a year before claiming it back. They are hoping you quit playing the game in the long term.
Simply don't buy accounts because they can get it back.
PlayerAuctions is very corrupt. Turbine informed me that they viewed character information displayed on their website and banned my lord of the rings account as it matches the same description as another account for sale on playerauctions.
Here is what Turbine said in their original e-mail.
Your account was permanently suspended for being offered for sale on Playerauctions.com. The Code of Conduct clearly states: 10. You may not advertise the intent to, commit the act of, or facilitate the ability of others to commit the act of, unauthorized selling, buying, transferring or sharing access to any Game account.
Should I even bother e-mailing PlayerAuctions or am I wasting my time? Years worth of my time wasting + all the cash I lost. Lesson learned I guess, don't buy from PlayerAuctions.
The site is created to mislead buyers in every way possible, so they just get the sales done. They don't highlight any of the important stuff, so you will definitely lose if you are a first time buyer.
Insurance is a MUST, if you still plan to buy, a lot of the accounts don't have this option. The warnings about no insurance is in regular font, within all the text after you click the purchase option. It doesn't come up in the offer details when you are just browsing!
If you must, DEAL WITH CAUTION, IT'S HIGH RISK!
I was sent and email of them wanting $450.00 in fines? For supposed offsite trading that I was told was alright to do so by the power seller team and support team. My reputation is flawless, I have a good customer base. I was told that I can link my playerauctions account on other websites confirm who I was on playerauctions.com message system and make my sale. There is another seller who does this named Zaxxis and he was the reason I first emailed them about it, they told me it was ok to do so. Now that I have done so they have shut down my seller account in which I make a few hundred a week to live off of and was told this was 100% ok. Now I get a email with bogus fines. I think these fines are scams and whoever reported me is trying to scam playerauctions or is an ex-employee making these so called offsite claims. Because my customers are loyal and would never do this. 90% of my customers are return customers. My main complaint is I was told it was alright now there saying its not and trying to fine me. I just want a formal apology and my account reinstated. I did nothing I was not told I could do. If I was not able to do so then they should have not told me it was alright. I have solid documents showing members of management telling me it was alright to do what I was doing and was not considered offsite trading. I will strongly consider a lawyer if this is not resolved.
Buyers beware...I have been a loyal customer of playerauctions for many years because I believed they operated with integrity and held their sellers and buyers to the same level of integrity. I have 100% feedback and my integrity has never come into question. I purchased an account back in January 31, 2009 for a level 80 wizard on everquest. Over the years I have paid for all the expansions and monthly memberships fees. I also had a level 96 Berserker with over 4000 alternate advancement points that I worked very hard on. All toons on the account were geared well and the berserker had a mix of group and raid gear. There was a bazaar trader that had over 2 million in plat (game currency) and items as well. I tell you all of this because after nearly 4 years of owning this account and pouring time and cash into it...the original owner took it back. One thing Playerauctions will not tell you is that if the original owner of the account wants the account back..all they have to do is contact Sony and tell them that it was stolen. They still have all original info for account so there is no question in Sony's mind. Sony will not give any warning that the account is being taken back either. They de-guild the toons, take credit card info off of the account, change the e-mail registered to the account, and return it to the original owner. You get absolutely no info from Sony in the way of e-mails indicating account changes. What is worse is the guy is on the toons, playing the character I worked so hard on and even had the nerve to send me a private message, complaining that I moved his wizard to the FV server that he can't be transferred off of. This whole situation makes me sick, but not as sick as the e-mail I got from playerauctions. Playerauctions only suspended his playerauctions account..not banned. And since the original owner will not respond to them they are going to contact Sony and get the account banned instead of restoring it. Even worse...Playerauctions will not replace the 175.00 that I paid for the account at the time, which seems like the right thing to do since they profitted off of the seller's deception. 175.00 is not much money at all compared to what I have invested into the account. I guess for me it is the principle of the thing. I bought the account thinking all transactions were secured by PlayerGuardian Protection, but I guess they are only secured if you buy extra insurance on the account. They say I did not purchase the additional protection so they will not reimburse me anything I spent on the account. This is bad business as there are no warnings that these accounts can be taken back by the original owner at any time, which would have kept me from taking the risk in the first place. Sorry if I sound like I am just whining, but everyone who uses this site needs to be told the truth about account purchases. In the business world, loyal customers are valued, respected, rewarded, protected, and held onto no matter the cost. And before you judge, I made several recent purchases from Playerauctions at the end of last year before all of this happened. I purchased an account and platinum totaling nearly 600.00. Now you tell me...a loyal customer with perfect feedback spending a lot of cash with your company...would you blow them off like this? I told Playerauctions as much and will see if it gets them to change their handling of this situation, but I doubt it.
PS - Please don't be the next victim, protect yourself. I do not hold Playerauctions responsible for the actions of the original owner, but I do hold them responsible for representing themselves as safe and secure when representing crooked sellers. This is why I want market credit...I want them to take responsibility for representing the seller and taking some of my money themselves out of the crooked deal.
I ****ing hate PA but I make so much money off their platform. It feels like it is one or two guys who answer the chat all day and just use a different name. Their responses always have a thinly veiled go **** yourself to them. You swear, you get banned, you ask for your powerseller deposit back, you get banned and so on and so forth. Anyways, to vent, I am going to be posting my PA support run-ins.
Hello! How may I help you?
Adam13:42:14
Hi, my account name is Polis. I am having problems buying anything on PA with my credit card or paypal. When I try to use the credit card as a payment option, it says that I need to become verified to use this.
13:42:20
However, I am a verified powerseller
13:42:50
What do I need to do to get these options unlocked? It does not make sense that I can't even use paypal as you guys always pay me my disbursements through paypal
Ralph13:44:32
Could you please provide me with your PlayerAuctions account username?
Adam13:44:49
Ralph13:45:10
One moment please while I check the details for you.
13:46:42
Thanks for waiting.
13:47:04
As per checking, our relevant team are still working on your case.
13:47:18
I suggest you to kindly use different payment options sir.
Adam13:47:32
What does this mean even? It has been like this for two months and I Don't have access to a moneybookers account
13:47:38
All of my money from you guys is sent to PAYPAL
13:48:36
It doesn't make sense, it's like you don't want your company to make more money off of me. How much more reliable can a customer on your site get? I am verified and I am a powerseller and you guys keep screwing me for whatever reason
13:48:52
why did I pay $150 bucks for powerseller support when you guys just constantly tell me to use another payment option
Ralph13:49:55
Sorry for any inconveniences you may have experienced.
Adam13:50:03
Do you guys have a support phone number?
Ralph13:50:09
No sir.
13:50:25
We only answers in live chat.
Adam13:50:37
So when will these payment options be fixed for me?
Why are they even locked in the first place?
When I email support and powerseller support, is it you who answers the emails?
You know all those links you receive in e-mails which are keylogger links, those accounts go up on sites like playerauctions. You buyers are fools.
So yesterday i make two purchases. One went through no problem, the other one got canceled buy the buyer with no response. He must have not had the plat. I opened a dispute with paypal, and the next morning my PA account was "suspended." My response was exact same to the live chat, was completely useless and gave me the trust email to send them. I hear it takes other people months before they get back to you, I really hope thats not the case. I see that PA's PR team, searches for post like mine and tries there best to fix it. I sent an email to that PR email he has provided as well. No response yet, I will keep all of you guys updated. I like PA, but this one opened my eyes to the negative side of PA. Chances are I'll take my business else ware if it is not handled in a timely matter.
I recently sold over 320M via Playerauctions and even after contacting PayPal as they suggested for an incomplete distribution of the $140 they still repeatedly say "We already released your disbursement sir." As if I am some sort of ### and doesn't understand what a disbursement is. Basically they're saying we're lying about paying you so have fun.
Paid for an in-game item service. Playerauctions was not able to complete the order in the safe manner without getting the account banned/locked. I sent numerous emails to Tina and Support@playerauctions.com explaining my concern over my order. I also forwarded emails from blizzard showing them locking my account 3 times and banning it temporarily until I could prove account ownership by calling in. My account was on the verge of being permanently banned and the power level seller showed no disregard and wanted to continue with the service without considering the danger to my account. So I canceled the order and explained to the seller I would not be continuing with his service because of the activity such as account locks and banning were occurring. I sent multiple emails to support as well as to the seller explaining this and didn't get any response with the exception that he was willing to give me a 20% refund even though he was not able to deliver in safe manner. Tried many times to resolve this with playerauctions and the seller and feel that you did not uphold to our agreement. I've been well over $1000 on their service and expected much better customer service. I will no longer be using the service and will not recommend to anyone. The order was not complete and blizzard restored everything back.
Okay so I sold two items on player auctions, after the buyer allowed the money to disburse I waited. My original paypal didn’t not work due to me closing it so I attached another paypal too it. However the support team is so ###ed they think the one that is currently in use if denied. They have told me for 80+ hours that they will send it in 24 hours and they never do. I was my money.
Playerauction is a Scam. Seller stole back my account, i reported to them they took 4 weeks to completed the investigation, First email they said i will receive a coupon for the amount of i paid. Then i didnt get that, so i contacted them again. They answered that the answer in the last email was wrong, i will not get anything. The only thing they can say is SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENT because i didnt purchase their insurance which didnt offer in the sell. But before i buy i contacted their customer service 3 times and confirmed that even without insurance i still protected for a year. I have all the chat log and the email from those employees, so i used that to ask them why they said im protected but in the email said i'm not. Now they suspended my account so i cant get access to the order anymore.
Whoever get scammed please msg me and i will put your name on the class action suit for consumer fraud against playerauction.
Based on the information provided, we have determined that the seller is responsible for the loss of access to your account. As we are unable to restore your access to the account, a coupon code of $xxx will be issued to your PlayerAuctions account through on-site message. The PlayerAuctions Coupon may be used toward any valid offer posted on PlayerAuctions.com and should be used within two months starting today. Please note that PlayerAuctions Coupon are non-transferable and non-refundable. The minimal price of offer should be above $5 and the change will not be given if the offer price is lower than the coupon value. We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this period. For further inquiries, please don’t hesitate to contact us again.
We are really sorry for wrong answer in the previous email.
For this case, we have tried to contact the seller to recover the game account but not receive any response yet. So, we have suspended his PA account and will ban the game account as well to prevent the potential fraud.
However, according to the record, you didn't buy any insurance when you placed this order, we are not able to give you any reimbursement at this stage.
Anyway, we are very sorry for any inconvenience you may experience.
In my experience, I had to (and still am) contact support about a seller reclaiming his game account. The above posters are right. Some speak english, others are visibly awkward completing full sentences.
The first three times I contacted support, they all said the exact same things. Made promises they didnt keep. Told me several times to expect a "followup' via email within 24 hours, or that they had 'escalated' my case to the mediation team. They said that all 7 times I contacted support, every time without fail.
One of the support members "Larry" even had the audacity to be rude/sarcastic with me over support chat when I politely asked for an update to a case that PA should have solved over a month ago. If anyone wants a transcript, I saved it.
The seller fees are also absurd, no doubt about it. They can sugarcoat how the fees sellers/buyers pay go towards the growth of their company, but... 42$ off of a 350$ sale? Jesus Christ. And people STILL get scammed all the time.
Just reviewing a few of these responses will show you how irrational people are. First of all I would like to say that buying or selling accounts is against Blizzard policy and they can immediately terminate your account for it. With that being said Player Auctions is an amazing company to use should you decide to do so. I just sold an account and received my money right after the 2 week buyer guarantee. Money was deposited directly into my account. I do feel that their fees were a bit steep. But with that being said, I found someone to purchase my account within 2 days of posting and it would have taken me much longer to do on my own. There was a few small hiccups in that the buyer wanted me to respond within 5 seconds of him paying for the account. But I responded to him within 24 hour period. As for them taking back their account. I believe this is something that player auctions cannot get around. I think that as long as you have the address the account was set up with and the credit card then blizzard will get you back into that account. And after they have disbursed the money Im not sure how they could possibly get your money back. Sad that people would do crap like that. But people are becoming more and more despicable every day. Sell the account then try to take it back after they receive payment. I will say that this has nothing to do with player auctions and everything to do with shady sellers. So make sure to get as much personal info as possible from him. I just wanted to leave PA a good review since I was very skeptical before seamless transaction took place.
Emm, I would suggest staying away from playerauctions for the time being. Their account protection system is broke for the time being. I sold the account, gave away all the info and pushed the button that delivery was made. After 72 hours buyer did not respond which means that the delivery was made. However, after this time the buyer instantly got refunded (I did not even get a chance to provide any info or arguments that the account was delivered) and I was left with a lost account and 0$. I know there was a similar bug but there was announcement that it was already repaired. My suggestion stay away from this place for a few months if you do not want to lose your money AND accounts.
@playerauctions_PR
I have been going through the exact same ordeal as @muddflap did in 2010. It's now 2015. I have e-mailed the address you provided in this thread, as my e-mails to support and experience with live chat have been met with me being ignored completely. One time, the CS Officer actually left the chat when I said I wanted my money back.
This is outrageous.
@playerauctions_PR
I am going through the same thing @muddflap did in 2010, and it's now 2015. I've been ignored, and in one case the CS Officer actually left the conversation when I asked for my money back. I will not stop, and will take all necessary action if this issue is not resolved, even if it costs me more than I spent on your website. It's the principle and the fact that other people are getting shafted that counts.
