Today, 2/21/25. I used United Airlines (which is Priceline) to buy a vacation package to celebrate our 50th anniversary. After I had selected flights, hotel and car and CHECKED THE BOX for TRAVEL INSURANCE, the itinerary popped up, taking my money, confirming all the details I’d chosen and at the top of the page “ Trip protection purchase failed. Your trip has been booked, but the insurance you selected has not been purchased.”
When I called to add the insurance, I was told by a Priceline agent that “that’s not possible and by the way, you can’t cancel the hotel or the car.” Imagine my frustration as I’m trying to book this trip for our 50th wedding anniversary!
So weather conditions, terrorists attacks, anything to do with the car, flight or hotel, we’re stuck. Now I’m looking at travel insurance that I’m going over our budget on just because Priceline, not United did this booking.
What a racket!
Claimed loss: $5,500.00 Including purchase of travel insurance
Desired outcome: I want a full refund. I’ve been trying to schedule this within our budget and they were very quick to take our money, but we’re SOL if anything happens. That’s EXACTLY WHY I selected the trip protection in the first place.
