Badly done dental cleaning
I went for dental cleaning at Q & M Dental Group Singapore at Orchard Central on 26 July 2022 which was about 3 weeks ago. After thoroughly brushing my teeth yesterday, I realised after looking closely that the cleaning was badly done with lots of stains still visible on many teeth.
This is my first visit to Q&M Dental and I am very dissatisfied and disappointed to discover this after spending the time for the dental cleaning appointment.
Desired outcome: I want a full refund or another cleaning appointment to be done by a more professional dentist at a time and clinic of my choosing.

Teeth Filling
Not Recommended!
I come for my appointment for filling teeth, around 10:30 am 07 August 2022 in Yew Tee Mall Q&M Dental. The doctor check my teeth and recommend for 2 X-ray focus on the teeth to filling and the whole teeth structure. I'm not informed the cost before conducting the X-ray. After the consultation which I decided not to proceed as the recommendation is too expensive. The recommended process (canal implant $2k+ or extraction/surgery $300+ ). I explain the doctor to discuss first to my wife, but during my payment of billing, it cost me $168.75 SGD.
When I ask why billings is too expensive, the receptionist call the doctor and explain that he didn't inform the cost before doing the X-Ray which I think is in the SOP should informed the patient before conducting it. Feeling upset!

Denture Tooth Repair.
I went on a appointment to collect my repaired denture on 2nd August 2022, 6pm at Q&M (Tampines 1). My repaired denture was forcefully put on by Dr. Sathyendran Sivarajah. I had felt a sharp pain on my upper middle jaw gum, my upper and lower molar could not meet. Dr. Sathyendran Sivarajahdid did not even bothered to ask me how was the denture fitting and before I could address the pain to him, I was rushed off by him,
The pain on my upper jaw gum was intense while putting on the denture. It was even more painful when I try biting on soft food like bread. I went back to Q&M (Tampines 1) immediately to feedback on my predicament. Dr. Sathyendran Sivarajahdid was extremely rude and without any checking, he went around doing some grinding and told me in a harsh tone that he had done what he supposed to do without even alleviating my pain. I was rushed off by him the second time.
Still feeling sored and painful with the denture, I went for a 2nd opinion on 4th August 200, 5:30pm. at Q&M (Tampines Hub). Dr. Au Yong Ke Wei was very professional and we had a very good discussion on my denture fitting condition. Dr. Au Yong Ke Wei did well in adjusting my denture to alleviate the pain on my upper middle jaw gum. I was advised to try it on for a few days and if the pain persist, there may be a need to grind off part of the metal part which is pressing on my upper middle jaw gum.
Please advise will I be charged for further procedures to improve my denture fitting since in the first place nothing was done by Dr. Sathyendran Sivarajahdid after my sincere feedback to him on the poor fitting?

Discomfort after surgery and not responsible
Hi,
I previously went to british dental surgery and had consulted dr thomas huang ting hsiang for surgery of tooth implant, however the implant is causing pain and discomfort. The tooth is also shaky.
I have contacted british dental surgery where i had surgery and spoken to winnie but unfortunately dr thomas huang is no longer with your company and she wanted me to contact dr thomas huang directly. However i have no means of contacting him and when i further asked for dr thomas huang’s contact number i was declined by your staff. As i had surgery at your company i feel that your company should be responsible for solving this issue instead of sharing your company’s problems with me.
Your company did not arrange for another doctor for me and insisted i write in before receiving any help.
Your staff informed me that i will be receiving a call from your manager but i have not received any calls and when i called to speak to your person in charge i was told to write in.
I have been in severe pain for these 2 weeks which caused me to be unable to eat.
Could your company kindly arrange to solve this issue?

Unprofessional Conduct
I called to book an appointment on 9 May 2022 morning for a slot at 2pm on the same day at Q&M Dental centre (North Bridge).
When I enter the room, Dr James Kwek Kok Kuang said something to the extend that he did not expect to have this appointment and asked me what time did I made this appointment (I told him this morning).
Subsequently, he was very agitated about the two nurses, started to scold the two of them while I was waiting for the checking and scaling services to begin on the chair. Whatever frustration he has, this should not be expressed while a patient is in the room. Kind of rude and unprofessional. I have never encounter such experience in my life before. .
As a result of his frustrations, the quality of his service was below my expectation.

Root Canal Treatment - Feb 2016
Hi Sir
I have been your customer at the Seletar Mall Branch since early 2016.
I had a root canal treatment on my left bottom tooth next to my wisdom tooth .
The dentist in charge was Dr Dilan Taylor . He is from UK.
The entire treatment by him included extraction of my three wisdom teeth , surgery plus root canal and crowning.
This week, I had a bad tooth ache on the left bottom tooth that was involved in the root canal by the same doctor .
In my previous discovery by another dentist in overseas , the root canal was not properly done .
Coming week, another Doctor of your clinic Dr Andrew Wong is tasked to extract this affected tooth .
My opinion is why the root canal job done by the previous dentist was not done properly resulting in the tooth go into further decay and now I had to lose my tooth plus to incur higher cost in extraction and ti fix a tooth implant later.

My eyes swollen and service of q&m northpoint
When I went to yishun northpoint after my checkup my right eyes become bit swollen and performing not well, it only happened after I got my checkup, is it probably because of the sunglass that I wore? Because that's the only thing I only put in my eyes. If my eyes become more worsen I hope q&m will investigate the cleanliness and hygine of those things

i want to add also, that i dont know if their fees is very high, luckily i bring my card with me, i only need a cleaning and consultation, the xray price took me $80 and i polishing is $80, then they did not resolve why my tooth is aching which is until now is my problem, he only said that i need a root canal for $800 and another gum procedures which took hundred $ also.
I am so frustrated about the price of the xray which is very high, i have corporate discount but i dont feel it. I pay $223 plus and i was surprise.
I tried to asked the doctor how much before i proceed he told me its around hundred $ minus the corporate discounts.
I am not going to consult again on Q&M i loose hundred $ without any temporary solution on my problem.

Today (2 Jan 22 @15.15) I received called from Q&M Bukit Batok branch, I don’t know who is the staff name (not a usual Filipino that always call which I heard she went to oversea, this lady was a local Chinese) but it happen to me twice times with the same person (local Chinese staff) which speak very rude to me. It was not our false that we can’t make a time as per a doctor’s timing because Originally it was made at this time before but subsequently clinic called and said doctor can’t make it. I fully understand any reason that we need to reschedule but at least you should said apologise and should talk to customer nicely.

Complaint for poor treatment

On 17th January 2022, after my consultation with the dentist Dr NG CHENG HUAT at Q&M Dental Surgery Clinic Blk151 Bukit Batok Street 11, #01-252, Singapore 650151, he offered my left upper wisdom tooth extraction. He carried out the treatment poorly, causing further injury.During treatment I was noticed him a few times that my right side upper lips was very pain as he using some tools was pressing my lips very badly. He neglected my request & continue his work was causing my lip very pain. After that he issued MC 2 days for me from ( 17/01/2022 to 18/01/2022 ). On 18/01/2022 not only my lips was swollen very badly but also some of the places in my mouth was injured. I was not abe to eat well & unable to carry out with my everyday life.For your reference please find the photos as attached.
On 19th January 2022, my lips & some of the places in my mouth were still swollen even had headache also .So I decided to go back to Q&M Dental Surgery Clinic Blk151 Bukit Batok Street 11, #01-252, Singapore 650151, to discuss with the dentist . Luckily, this time I met with Dr Than who offered me very good consultation & gave me some medicines .He issued MC 2 days for me from ( 19/01/2022 to 20/01/2022 ) as my lips & some parts of in my mouth were injured.
So I had to take MC total 4 days & unable to carry on with my everyday life . As your dentist's poor treatment caused a lot of problems . Total my medical bill was S$464.65 & MC 4 days & unable to carry on with my everyday life . This is first time very bad experience in my life.Not only waste my money but also my times etc.. So your management how will explain & settle for me in this case ? Please reply me ASAP, thanks.

I have had 2 major negative experiences with q&m which has made me look for a new dentist of another company totally
In 2016 on chinese new year eve I needed help with my wisdom tooth that was impacting my molar tooth I went to see Dr Alex in the bukit gombak branch.
Upon lying on the dentist chair he took the tools and knock on my lower wisdom, upper wisdom teeth, the molar teeth next to it and above all need to extract
Thats 8 teeth to be extracted. Than I said only one side is causing pain. And that I would like to get a second opinion. To which he replied oh for this type of thing u need experienced surgeons like me. I left the clinic
On the following Monday I went to National dental centre in outram Park. They only extracted my wisdom teeth, did minor fillings to the impacted molar teeth and advised me thar it's not necessary to extract any other teeth.
After this experience I never went back to the bukit gombak branch again. But as its not right to take one person as a representative of the organisation I decided to tried out bukit batok Central branch. But this time only for routine cleaning. It went well for a year or so.. and than that started saying I have alot of decays etc.
And that one major decay at my molar toot that might need a root canal etc.. again my wisdom tooth nightmare flashed before my eyes. So I went to another dental clinic for second opinion - they did the filling in 15 minutes

Dentist and Staff
I visited Q&M Buangkok with an appointment time for 2.30pm. The clinic had no patients but about 5 staff including the dentist Dr Peggy Chua Pui Kee. After waiting for 35mins, I was asked to wait in the treatment room instead. After another 10mins, Dr Peggy entered and said she wasn't able to do any filling and could only give me antibiotics for my shaking tooth. I showed Dr Peggy my x rays and asked if she could do a filling, at that point - 2 dental assistants entered the room and started asking me to take the medication instead. I refused and said I'll consult another dentist for the filling. Upon hearing this, the front desk staff, along with 2 assistants started to shout at me, asking me not to leave the clinic and instead pay for consultation and the use of equipment (even though no check was done and no equipment was used to examine my teeth). I agreed to pay for the sterilization and disposables since the assistant said she had opened them for me while I was in the waiting room (how do I know if it was sterile and not from the previous session if it's opened before I enter the room?) . Front desk staff started shouting at me asking to pay for consultation (when she didn't know what had happened in the treatment room). This was the worst experience a patient in pain could go through. Dentist refused treatment even before taking a look physically and just kept forcing me to do x rays or root canal treatment (how can I trust such a dentist with an important treatment?). Other staff were shouting at me in a group, the front desk receptionist and 2 other assistants).

Price Breakdown for Wisdom Tooth Surgery was not Transparent

I am writing to complaint about the transparency of the wisdom tooth surgical procedure I have undergone on 25 October 2021. When I initially entered the clinic, I asked the receptionist about the cost for the procedure. She told me she was not sure herself and directed me to ask the dentist later when I meet with her. When it was time for me to meet the dentist, I again asked her how much would the cost of procedure be, and she told me that the cost of the surgical procedure would be $340 per tooth, and there would additional fees for the medication. In total, it would be around $400 but should not be too much. I was okay with that and went on with the procedure. After the procedure, at the reception area, I asked the receptionist again how much would exact the total cost be, and she asked me if I had at least $2000 in my Medisave (as I am paying with Medisave) and if I did then that would be sufficient. I asked for a receipt and she told me I will receive a text message instead when my Medisave is deducted and I could see the cost of the procedure there. Days later when I checked my Medisave account, I was shocked to see the whole procedure cost me $540, which was higher than what I expected. I am very disappointed with the way the staff handled my questions of cost and how the procedure turns out to be way higher than what they told me.

Rude, impatient, unprofessional Dentist Dr. Peggy Chan Pui Kee and her assistant
My friend Ms. Lee went for a dental appointment at 6 PM at Buangkok MRT Q&M. Dentist in-charge was Dr. Peggy Chan Pui Kee and assisted by a female assistant. I want Q&M group to know about this unpleasant treatment experience and you guys better take action immediately.
1. Firstly, this Dr. Peggy didn't even look at XRay scan for teeth and started selling my friends to take up different sorts of dental treatments. Mind you that my friend ALREADY informed Buangkok MRT Q&M to retrieve XRay from Bukit Batok Q&M branch yesterday. Her XRay was taken in OCt 2020. But, this doctor and her assistant didnt even bother to request for the XRay and asked my friend to do another XRay. Apparently, this assistant also said that XRay scan normally will last 1 to 2 years. So? what for asking my friend to scan again? Then, during dental treatment, Dr. Peggy just applied Fluoride without asking for my friend's consent. Then, my friend was not aware about that was billed for the fluoride. WT heck?
2. Obviously, without proper consultation from a doctor, my friend wouldn't take up any dental treatment. Then, this Peggy started cleaning teeth and with water splashing all over my friend's face. My friend is there for teeth cleaning, not facial treatment. Even if my friend doesnt want to subscribe to any of your dental treatment, be professional la. Dont be like a kid. My friend said, this is the worst teeth cleaning experience she ever had in her life. She will never ever do it at Buangkok MRT Q&M again.
3. Then this Peggy is also trying to be funny. She said "if you know HOW TO READ XRay scan of your teeth, then you will see black black area blah blah blah". Come on la, if normal people can read XRay scan, then can we deduct service charge because we know how to read XRay scan and inform her what to do next?
4. Then, ever since my friend entered the Q&M for treatment, this Peggy and her assistant macam super rush, dont know want to rush to somewhere. So pushy and keep rush rush rush. Rush for what? There is NO OTHER CUSTOMER at the Q&M branch. Chinese 7th month passed already. Rush go where?
Please la, take action against this sort of doctor and assistant.

Doctor's unethical behavior
Dear Sir/Mdm,
I would like to file a complaint with Dr Chong Yoke Mun from Q&M Jurong Point Clinic. He had seriously rude attitude towards patient. Please refer to the entire incident below for your understanding:
My mum went to Q&M Jurong Point for her consultant and dental implant surgery. One of her implanted teeth was very badly done, she could hardly bite and felt painful after weeks of her surgery. She went back to the same clinic for 2nd consultant, Dr Chong Yoke Mun asked her to lie down on patient dental chair and acknowledged that one of the implanted teeth was badly done. His original words were "这个牙做的不行". That was an medical malpractice to me as my mum went for a solution but suffered more after the surgery.
On her 2nd consultation, without telling my mum the proper procedures and asked for her permission. He injected anaesthetic drug and extract her implanted tooth. It was only then my mum realised that her implanted tooth had to be redone, she had no choice but to accept it. She only able to ask for fees when things are done and Dr Chong Yoke Mun said "It's free". I believe he admitted that he did not perform the first implanting surgery properly. My mum went home with the nail.
It was only today when I found out I can't keep quiet for Dr Chong Yoke Mun's rude and unprofessional conducts. Today's surgery was performed with anaesthetic injection and medical stitches. My mum asked for painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs, the nurses charged her fees. My mum felt that her entire process was dragged due to doctor's medical malpractice, and she wouldn't have suffered for months when if the first surgery is correctly done. She just felt she shouldn't be paying this. The nurse seek for Dr Chong Yoke Mun's permission, the Dr said words like "你本来就不需要这个药", and"医院的医生还会医死人呢,难道医死人要去找医生吗". I was so shocked that when my mum cried and told me these. How can a doctor speak these kind words, he's literally lacking of ethical conduct of the medical profession. Yea, my mum would not need the painkiller for free if her implanted tooth was properly done, and luckily Dr Chong Yoke Mun is not a hospital doctor who thinks that a doctor is not responsible for death of patient with the poor surgery skills.
My mum is soft and innocent, she does not know how to protect herself against the rude words from doctor. But I'm not that easily bullied kind of person. I need a good explain with in next working day. I will call every day check, if not solved, I will complain to Consumer Association of Singapore until this incident is perfectly solved.
My appeals are:
1. I will never allow Dr Chong Yoke Mun to handle my mum's case, I request to change to other doctor from other branch. Her stitches need to be removed next week. Please help to arrange.
2. Compensation is needed as Q&M's Dr Chong Yoke Mun admitted that he failed the first implanted surgery on one of the implanted tooth.
3. We need an apology!
Please understand that the entire incident was taking a few months, please check record of Jurong Point's records. And my mum really suffered a lot, she does not deserve to be treated like this for a doctor's poor skills and rude attitude. I have already emailed you. Please contact me immediately, I will need a reply as soon as possible. Thank you.

I would like to report something that happened to me in Q&M clinic recently.
I went to Q&M Kovan Dental Clinic on 28th May to check my teeth. The person at the reception counter recommended that me to wash my teeth so I don' t have to pay for the consultation fee, so I agreed. While washing my tooth, the dentist washed off two of my teeth crowns on the right down side. ( The two crowns were still fine but they dropped them off while washing.) She then fixed it back but charged me for 400 dollars for doing this fixing progress.
They told me they did some filling for me, but I felt it was part of their responsibility. At that time, I didn't want to argue.
The second time, my left down wise tooth was decayed, they recommend me to remove it. I went to the Kovan Q&M clinic again on 24th May. They removed the wise tooth for me. I got a bad fever the next day and during the process of removing my wise teeth they destroyed part of my crown next to the wise teeth. They charged me around 40 dollars for doing filling to fix the hole on the crown. But they made my crown fall apart while removing my wise teeth in the first place.
But after another two week, the filing dropped apart one more time, and the hole was bigger. They told me I need to redo the crown. I wanted my teeth to get back to normal quickly, so I had to agree to do it in their clinic again.
They told me they need to charge 900sgd (exclude gst) after gst 1001.75 sgd. I need to do the crown for two visits. So I did one visit in the week before last week, they charged me for half of the price which is around 500 sgd. They removed my original crown, collected the shape of the crown and made a temporary crown for me. During the days I was waiting for the new crown, the temporary crown broke while I was chewing something not even hard. I called them, they said I should do nothing and wait for the new crown to be ready.
As I went back to the clinic few days ago. They checked my teeth again and told me my filling is falling more and I need to redo the crown. They need to charge me extra! I feel most of the responsibilities should be taken by them. They broke my crown while they removed my wise teeth, they made a very weak temporary crown for me and let me wait for almost two weeks. Then they want to charge me more! I feel this whole situation happening is quite unreasonable.

Poor and inexperience
My wife went for a wisdom tooth extraction 2 years ago. The process was badly done and left her with numbness on the underside of her tongue. Advise her to be on neurobion and she has been taking till now but the condition remains.
We do understand that these do happen but just want to say that they are not experience and professional to take on such surgeries.
There are better ones and we should avoid this dental.

Overcharging
I brought my wife to the Bukit Batok Branch yesterday.
We were highly recommended by someone who went there for a fix up.
My wife's filling had came out and she's having quite a bit of pain.
The clinic told us no appointments over the phone and that we had to walk in.
We did. And after waiting for half an hour, we were called in.
My wife literally sat on the chair for less than minutes where the diagnosis is imply an infection. However, they insist on taking an X-ray.
They did not indicate or have us known the prices.
The receipt simply claimed a small consultation fee of 30 dollars and the rest of the bill and medication came up to 324 in total.
324 SGD for no filling done. Just medication an an X-ray.
I have been a world traveler and I have good knowledge of prices for most anything. As a Singaporean, I know that Dental is not cheap "in Singapore but this is a bit ridiculous.
While your clinic boasts of packages for fillings from 60 to 100
and Polishing at 108.
We have done practically nothing for 324. This overcharging of medication and X-rays have got to stop.
You cannot simply just put such premium prices when you're located in friendly neighborhood and communities.
Also, common folks are not able to use medisave except for surgeries.
Common folk are suppose to fork out 2000 for a root canal?
That's why people plan trips to Thailand for dental work.
During a working trip to Myanmar, I developed a severe 4 nerved root canal on my molar.
I went to the best, highest class clinic you will ever see. It looks like a hotel and all the doctors were graduates from overseas.
I paid a total of 160 SGD for the 4 nerve root canal including mouthwash and antibiotics and all medication.
I know we cannot compare country to country but you can clearly see a crazy difference. This puts to mind how unethical prices are being flout within the medical profession in Singapore.
I'm sorry about going on a rant here. But I just want to get my point across.
That being charged for 324 dollars for nothing being done on my wife's tooth is plain ridiculous. You could simply give me the diagnosis and I will go get my own medicine from my family doctor.

Lack of miscommunication, extra steps for nothing
Had a horrible visit in Pasir Ris White Sands. What I thought was a normal visit for scaling and polishing turns into an nightmare.
During the treatment, the Dr said that I have gum problems & suggest that I treat my wisdom tooth immediately as they are shown deep rooted in my nerves. He then proceed to arrange an X-ray for me.
Upon reviving the results, he said I have to go for an CT scan in Simei to have a clearer picture on which nerves is closest and he would check my CT scan to see if hes able to do that surgery for me. He told me to get it done ASAP as my wisdom tooth is decaying.
Of course, I was worried so I went Simei the next few days. CT scan costs me about $200 and when I'm done I called Pasir Ris branch to confirm my next appointment with doc. TO MY HORROR, the receptionist (different from the one who advise me to book CT scan) said "don't need to come back, doc already said he cannot do surgery for you" I WAS SO PISSED. I went back to the Simei Branch and asked what was the miscommunication about.
If PSR branch have told me earlier that they can't perform this surgery, I would've went to Simei and get it done WITHOUT the need of CT scan (scam much?) Long story short, the receptionist at the Simei branch was surprised and mad as well, she apologised for the miscomm & offered me to do my surgery the next day since I'm in a lot of pain.
The reason why I want to go back to psr is because of the cost, if I did it in Simei it will be abt 2400+ as its specialist surgeon, Psr branch will be about 1250+ for normal surgeon.
Anyway, I decided to ditch QM for good and went to other dental and finally had my wisdom removal painless & efficiently.
Till this date, QM still msg-Ed me to ask me to book appointment even tho their doctor can't perform my surgery. My advise to them is to put themselves in check and Communicate with their patients.

Please don't hire Malaysians. They are just stupid and irresponsible.
Make wrong appointment date and when I reached there not even a single sorry. I paid more than $4000 doing braces and this is the customer service I got. Such a shame.
Dental service
Quite some time ago, I went for root canal treatment because of some decay in my lower tooth. According to the dentist, he said that the nerve roots under the affected tooth will be removed, and he will replaced it with a fake one. After an hour plus of treatment, he had a temporary replacement tooth done. the actual replacement would have to wait for a few days. I was advised not to bite too hard on the tooth in the meantime.
Low and behold, before I reach back home, the tooth broke into a few pieces. I haven't even started eating yet, and all I had was water. I had to return the next day informing the same dentist that my tooth had broke.
I was charged for another temporary replacement.
Finally the actual replacement arrived and I had completed the root canal treatment.
I took extra effort to take care of my teeth since then. I flossed every night before bed and brush my teeth before I sleep and after I wake up. I would gargle after any meal.
Low and behold, a few months later decay started to form from the very same teeth that I had root canal treatment on. Is this even possible? Wasn't my nerves around that area removed?
The best part is, I can't seem to find any decay myself while looking in a mirror (yes, I check the back of my teeth as well). It would seem as though the decay is coming from under the replacement tooth. Does this mean that the previous dentist did not clean the area properly before filling it up?
I am 100% sure I did a good job taking care of my teeth over the years. And since there was no visible decay, I could only assume the pain is coming from underneath.
Or could it be possible that my nerves grew back?
Nonetheless, I was overcharged for the service. My bill totaled to over 2k for a simple toothache. If this was a mistake on the dentist part, fine, no proof how to own up? However, if this was some sick trick to get your patients back so you get more money, please stop.
I am not asking for any compensation since it was my fault for not taking care of my own teeth at the start, and I do not know much about dentistry to point fingers, so please excuse my passive aggressive tone.
Did anyone else faced such a situation? Or perhaps anyone can recommend how to improve how I take care of my teeth?
