redbox
Redbox are complete jerks! I rented 2 dvds and returned them 3 days later, after i reached home and check my bank account it shows the funds was deducted. So the following weekend I went to get more DVDs and it show transaction was denied so I called and checked my bank account and I had funds in the account so I called Redbox customer service (straight dummies) and they told me "Oh you didnt have enough funds in your account and that we well try to take the funds out in the next 48 hours to reactivate your card" WTF
will not provide any names, numbers or ability to pay fees w another card over $250 in service charges rented over 400 movies yet will not help
Will not provide managers names, phone numbers, corporate numbers
will not allow you to pay $1.08 on another credit card even with 6 $34 service fees been charged and each day another charge account is so red and will not let me use another card to pay the $1.08 even though I have rented over 400 movies in the last year. Something is very dirty about this company. I have never heard of ANY corp[oration that will not provide names of any manager nor the utter complete lack of help in the smallest way for even a good company. Apparently that is why Netflix has ads on Redbox compliant sites. I have never made a complaint before this. This company should be investigated and I am sure that they and their biusinesss model will not be in business by the end of this decade.
Just kidding! Are you Nuts! The reason Redbox is not charging your other card is not because they are choosing not to it's because they can't. They can only charge the card that YOU chose to swipe at the kiosk. Take some responsibility for this situation and stop trying to blame Redbox...not their fault you have no money left in your account.
I completely agree!
charge of $25.44
I rented a movie, the next day when I went to return it the movie stayed stuck in the drop off and would not confirm a return. When i received my charge receipt and emailed them back stating what happened. Two months later I see a charge. I called them and they would not reverse the charge stating they could not find the video anywhere and due to time restraints there was nothing they could do. I asked Jason #[protected] for his email address to send my notification and surprise he does not have an email address (SCAM FOR WHAT?)
DO NOT RENT FROM REDBOX, THEY ONLY RESPOND TO YOUR EMAILS WHEN IT SUITS THEM.
well you would think that not getting a confirmation email would be you first clue to all customer service and let them know what is going on...call me crazy but that seems like common sense to me.
poopy customer service
First off, what terrible customer service redbox has! I call in and talked to this agent name Dustin, and he goes onto say how these movies I've had out were returned after their return time being 9 pm. Bah hum bug ! i say! I totally returned before the return time and THAT DUSTIN KNOWS IT! Not only did he call me rude names, but he made me feel like I was the "ignorany yankee" at fault. its not my fault your machines ###ed up, so why am I to suffer the charge?! I feel like so many others on this website, a victim.
Secondly, after disputing the charge I was transfered to a supervisor named Jesse, and ohhhhhh boy, that Jesse just doesnt know how to treat a customer like they should, when I explained my situation he just said " eventually refunding for courtesies like this is going to stop and unfortunatly today is that day". WHAT. THE. ###!>!>!/? He had this matter of fact tone in his voice and it felt like Dustin and Jesse had ganged up to double team me.. and thats not how it should be, they have so much to throw around being a super big duty company that you think they could afford a 1$ loss.
Redbox redshmocks. im gonna steal my dvds from the internet!
Asilkybush, im not interested in slap n tickle and nor am I in need of any of it... bit whats the number? I have a friend that could use it.
and thankyou bumhickey for your support, its nice to see theres someone out there that feels the same way I do. Frick you vinstarr, and yes +JDH+ it does sound Asilkybush is in love with this "Dustin", most definatly not the one i talked to, that kid was a turd.
Who do you think I am?! some, some kind of liar? Its not the dollar thats at stake here everyone, its the principle! If we all just let redbox get away with nickeling and diming us every chance they get, well its no wonder why they make so much money!
Humandinuke1 I dont believe your Jesse for a second, your probably just some whipper snapper thats on here just to screw with me, well im not gonna have non of it! I returned my movies on time and thats final!
Redbox supervisor are crooks they charged me for movies i forgot to return took a partial pymt of 17$ then i called n said im gna return the movies do i have to paybthe full 54$ i was told i shud get more than atleast half back but to call after i return them so i did i spoke to a rep who said he wouldd credit me 20 $ n i said what bout the balancr he said i had a balance but it would clear since they didnt collect yet well im waitin so i asked him to send me a email confirm n again asked so i dont hav a bal he said no it will be 0.. So i waited for my momey two days later they take 37 which wads the balance so im waiting for twenty to be credit they charge me 37 so i called n i was told as a courtesy 10$ permove is all they can do i spoke to a supervisor told her to listen to the call she did but she came bak saying i said i knew i had a bal but she wont repeat the end of the call where i asked bout my 0$ bwl so i said let me talk to someone above she transfer to another ### supervisor who let me listen to the call with her n she turns it off after i admit knowing my bal n numerous times i asked her to play me the end of the call n she would not do it i said why would u credit mde 20 if i owed 37 how can they do that im waitin for a credit but i get charhed they messed up my acct .. .. I told her they were crooks n not to talk to me like i was stupid i kept saying she wasnt hearing the whole conversation n the fact she played mebthe conversation twice n both times turned the volume down where the guy told me my balanxe was 0 n she wouldnt listeten to me i they are dummy emplyees how can they work a for a company like they were not sympathetic nor tried tonunderstand what theres customers were going through becsuse of ther unethical bussiness pilicies, im gna go above these two idiots who are called supervisors n im gna keep fighting .. Because tthis company should be closed down now i know that others have issues also with these dumb ### people im not done with them n karmas ### just wait redbox until i see iu in court u could of just refinded my 55$ but u soon will havevto paying me nall these other customers back for being so rude n so dishonest i was so mad at this idiot i was in tears because i know the truth i kniw what i was told n i know why she wont play the whole recorded conversation u shud be ashamedof urself
This is no joke. When I saw Red-box I thought, "Wow, this is great! Movies for $1.00! How do they do it!." WELL...I FOUND OUT! BY RIPPING PEOPLE OFF! I rented 5 movies one evening and returned them the next evening. I counted them before I left home to make sure I had all 5. About 2 weeks later I noticed $35.00 missing out of my bank account. After some investigating, I found out it came from Red-box. I called Red-box and stated that I had returned all the movies, but the CSR insisted there was 1 movie I didn't return, and since I didn't return it, they were charging me the full price for the movie, AND another rental day for the other 4 movies - even though those were returned. WHAT! I couldn't believe it! We argued but it didn't matter. They were charging me, and because those boxes don't give receipts, I had no proof that I returned the movie. The movie was inside their box and there was no way I could prove it. WHAT A RIP OFF! I have to pay for a movie I don't even have. I will never again use Red-box.
Awwww yeahh you want that number! Denise its [protected]. and anyone that is reading this message is welcome to call that number lookin for a good time. Especially you +JDH+ because you sound like a weiner ♥
that dustin character seems like to greateset guy who ever wokred at redbox and you seeem like the most retarted person...like I dont go murdering people and say "I got away with it before" and expect grace like what is broken in ur fat head? poop? thats what I thought ...PS make a note to yourself...Dont leave the trailer park it be all dangourus out in them city with their redboxs and basic rules! durrrp!
Im beginning to feel like this all might be a joke. a kind of funny and weird joke that makes me want to close the page.
the very essence that makes up who you are, your soul, the fibers of your very being that just need to be tickeld every once in a while. and no! its not my hand!
@ +JDH+
There is no way to describe how you feel when someone you've never met, never seen, never touched before; can make such an impact on your physical and spirtual being.
and I think denise just needs some sweet lovin. because its solved every problem ive ever had!
ps. also yes, ive never had to many problems
I dont really think asilkybush loves Dustin persay, I think by the way he/she talks about him, Dustin might be one sexy sob... or atleast sounds like he is. Ive never really had to many problems with redbox, I once had a movie i returned, or atleast thought i had; and when i called saying i returned the movie, redbox returned it into their system for me. Turns out the movie was in my dvd player all along... I sure do feel bad, i wasnt to pleasent to whoever i spoke to. But im sure that redbox gets tons of customers like myself and Denise, that claim something they believe to be true and it really isnt. All in all Id say they have above par service.
@ +JDH+
because everyone is rude when you don't get what you want
oh damn! denise youve been served by that poopy supervisor! roflcopterbbq!
bogus fees and charges
Redbox claimed that we failed to return two (2) DVDs which was absolutely not true. In fact, our account history showed that one of the movies had been returned several days after we rented it but that we had checked it out again the following day. This information would tell any reputable company that something had gone awry in its automated record keeping system. Not Redbox. We were eventually charged $50.00 for two not very good movies. (If we were going to steal from Redbox, we would have chosen much better films to take.) The money Redbox stole from us was a relatively expensive lesson but we'll never do any business with the company again.
PS - Redbox's customer service is quite poor, too!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I agree with asilkybush, you wouldnt ever steal their ###, but im sure as hell you were stupid enough to misplace it. They have this service called the society for community living, you should look into it. I have a brother which is "disabled" and this group of people were outstanding in helping him renting and returning his movies, even making and serving food! I cant tell you what these people have done for his self esteem, it might do you and your family wonders to look into it.
I disagree, redbox had excellent customer service, why just the other day, I had called in and got a lovely boy by the name of Dustin; who was very kind, and in fact when I was charged 50 dollars from Redbox, i was more then 100% sure i had returned my movies. By being so positive, he was able to give me my money back. If you were charged 50 $$ with zero compensation, then you've either had bad history, your ###ed, your not confident on the phone, or your ###ed..
too many incompetent employees
Now this redbox, I had the pleasure of renting from them for quite some time now, all untill I had returned my movie and there was a problem. what kind of problem!? The kind of problem where they charge you 25 dollars for a returned movie kinda problem, but when I called in I had the unfortunate circumstance of having to deal with a rep named james. He had a nice voice, rather soothing actually; but when i told him I had of course returned my movie, he hummed and hawed and said no sorry the most he could offer me was a dollar refund... Thats preposterous! I exclaimed, and demanded a supervisor. A supervisor named jesse came on the line and it just felt like they were double teaming me the whole time! (and not in a good way) I say I say those two at the very least could have expressed some sincere empathy and appreciation, they just sound like a couple of redbox robots.
At any rate i didnt even get my full 25 dollars, Jesse didnt budge and just summarized what James said but in more of a schmoozin tone. Thats fine by me! because i really like bein teased while on the phone!
*clap* *clap* *clap* - good job redbox, yet another job well done - maybe you should start training your reps to do a little more less suck and a little more kiss my ###!
@Humandinuke1
Thats the thing about redbox man, theres no evidence supporting the small guys claim! I have my email in their system and i just moved into a flat with nothing but a suitcase of clothes with a bed and a T.V taht has a dvd player built into it. Its not like i could have lost it to the neighbourly hobos that parooze the street asking for change... then again they are a crafty bunch. Theres alot of losers in the states that dont have an email and so dont have any evidence supporting their claims, being a big company, what do they have to loose to give a customer a little bit of their money back?
the law they speak of is the Video privacy protection act... look it up.
I've talked to Jesse before, hes got the supple lips to do an excellent job ; )
This makes sense because every company should kiss the customers ### and refund anything they want whether or not theres evidence supporting it.
no proof of return movies
After having to file a complaint about not receiving an email stating that I had indeed return their movie. They give me credit to receive a free movie but yet again "no email" . Now I'll have to go through the trouble of contacting another person just so I won't get billed 30 bucks for a crappy movie I didn't even like !
I rented a video and gave it to someone to return. they didn't and redbox appropriately charged me for its purchase. it then proceeded to charge my credit card for a deposit on the original rental which was less than its purchase price. It seems to me they should have thrown out the deposit charge since they had already charged me for its purchase, but the voice on their phone said this was standard practice and my deposit would be returned eventually. needless to say, i won't be renting anymore from them.
YOU my man are responsible... for everything on your account not a "friend"
bad customer service
I called into redbox only to talk to this customer service agent named Dustin. That customer service representative has such a sexy voice, I agonize over the fact he couldnt tell me where he lives. When I asked, all i got was this lame response saying "north of seattle." But i live right by it! Gadzooks Dustin if you ever read this give me yo digits! Im so lonely and all I have is Redbox, I dont understand how authorizations work and need someone that doesnt know much of what they are either to explain them too me! Redbox is scam because im "mentally disabled" and cant be bothered to call Red box within a few days of my problem, and so because I dont call like a responsible human being would, I get charged exactly what Red box proposes they would. customer service... bah! I dont understand why I just cant be coddled in my mistakes like parents used to do for me.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Rented the same Movie twice...would not play the first time so I hoped if I rented it again I might get a different copy. NO ... same bad copy. I have asked for the return of my rental fee. I did not get to watch any of the movie. Have not heard a word back from them. Will not use REDBOX again. Austin TExas
Every movie I order is always scratched and wont play.. hate redbox
How do you spell ###? Oh, never mind
no refund for non working dvd'd
Worst Place to Rent DVD'd. 30% to 40% DVD's dont work...are usually scratched...Worst, even if one complains by sending emails, either they dont respond...or respond by cliaming the DVD is fine...or simply give u a damn coupon...I NEED MY REFUND...I DONT NEED THEIR DAMN Coupon to get another scratched DVD...Redbox company should be Blacklisted and fined heavily.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Yes, same thing, when I called, they said I should've asked for a refund first, once they give you the codes, then that's it. Then they said if I returned the disc damaged I'd be charged. but I was complaining because it was scratched in the first place. What a bunch of scammers! And when you call they keep you hold for EVER! Then they're rude, I said i didn't use movie codes and they acted like I was lying because I'd used one over six months ago. I learned my lesson, don't rent from a REDBOX.
Its crazy i got a movie from them and the dvd was scratched and i couldnt play it. i think they need to check the dvds to make sure they work. and people that rent them out should take care of it thats why it has a case. i really ticked off
man, if you dont want the coupons, then you should just ask for the refund. Its either one or the other and I think they are trained to offer the codes first.
for you i have a story:
once apoun a time i went to the dollar store to purchase myself a yo-yo, A yo yo! i exlaimed, as i had just pulled it out of its package. I played with it a little bit and so felt that my 1 dollar yo yo was a [censor]en deal, especially since i can walk the dog like a pro. ( aweeee yeahhhh ) so I bring this yo-yo to work, showing off its fantastic characteristics, and after the 8th walk the dog i attempted; THE STRING BROKE!, wtf i said. (wtf indeed) good thing theres an extra string that comes with it... waiiitttt... theres an extra string that comes with it, clearly indicating what i bought was crap to begin with.
morales of the story.
1. you get what you pay for.
2. dont buy a yo-yo from a dollar store
3. havin cool hair can make you, daddy coo-l.
I'm sorry to hear that you have troubles, but I have only had one DVD not work out of about 100. Since it was only a dollar, I didn't bother.
If you have had such bad experiences, you should quit using it and join netflix or something.
bogus charges
I just reviewed my online banking statement and I saw a charge of $17.48 from Red Box. Seeing as how it's been over two week since I rented and returned their DVD' s I naturally call Red Box and explain to the young lady on the telephone that those charges are random and unjustified. She then proceeds to, very calmly and nicely, explain to me that apparently those charges came from rental fees of over a month ago! I politely explain to her that there is no way that is possible, as I can clearly see on my computer screen that I returned the DVD's and was automatically charged right then and there. Upon apologizing, she proceeeds to try n "barter" with me asking if I would settle for having $10.00 credited back to my account instead of my full refund! I of course said no way in hell, she then proceeded to inform me that they are very sorry, and my account should be issued a full refund in 3-7 business days. I am writing this complaint literally 5 minutes after this incident, so I do not know yet if my issue will be resolved. I do know that ANY company that tries to barter with their customers for a "partial" refund has sketchy business practices, and is not worth doing business with. BEWARE OF REDBOX! GOOD RIDDANCE, hello on demand cable services!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
well mr. or mrs. super ###ed I know If I got a full refund for a movie I know I rented I would be all happy I got a free movie...but no your complaining like a hyperactive spoiled child that just got hit in the head with a truck full of shovels...and thats pretty good getting a refund for movies you kept and couldnt afford a charge like that ...you owe redbox...one day they will collect on your soul
false charges
A month ago, I rented two DVD's from a local RedBox. I returned the movies, and was charged the $2.12 for having 2 movies for a day. Everything was good, I practically forgot about it considering it was a month ago. No continuous charges on my card. Today I look at my account history on my online banking. This morning I was charged $50.88 by RedBox. When I called, they said their systems never showed the return of the movies. My first question is if they weren't returned, why wasn't I ever charged the extra ammount? Why was I charged the normal amount right after returning them then?
My recommendation: don't use RedBox. I'm not claiming it's an outright scam, but I'm not ruling that out either. I've read of plenty of others with the same problem among others involving false charges. Save yourself the trouble, use Netfix or a local video rental place if you have one.
"My first question is if they weren't returned, why wasn't I ever charged the extra ammount? Why was I charged the normal amount right after returning them then?"
because your charged for the first night, and if a movie is not returned, then after 25 days you will be charged the accumilated additional nights for that movie, after the 25th day from it was initially rented; which turns out to be 25.44 for each movie. Since there 2 movies on the same transaction. it was 50.88. You were charged the normal amount because while we charged you for the initial night on the first night you rented. you didnt receive the charge until it had been processed
If you had spoken to a Dustin, im sure his supple voice could of eased your pain, and i can most definataly feel your pain! please! try redbox again, just dont be ###ed and it will all be ok =)
unauthorized charge
I rented 2 DVDs from Redbox on December 16, 2010. I returned them both on December 18, received a confirmation email and everything. Mid-January, I checked my credit card balance online before paying the bill and found I had a charge of $49.82 from Redbox. I called the customer service line and was told that one movie was returned on January 3rd and the second was never brought back. I argued, but they would not do anything. I tried to dispute the charge on my credit card, but they would not let me. Not once was I sent an email, or given a call from Redbox saying that my movies were not returned. I am a full-time college student working a part-time job. Obviously, if I wanted those movies enough, I would have purchased them for $17 each from Walmart or something and saved myself around $20. I am currently still trying to get my money back because they almost overdrafted my account by taking that much money from me. From reading other complaints on here, I can see that I'm not alone and that Redbox is a scam and needs to be shut down. I'll say one thing, I WILL get my money back, you can believe that. And I will make sure nobody I know ever rents from them again. They messed with the wrong person.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Redbox is a scam. They work fine but then they slap you with a $26 charge on your crdit card claiming that you never returned a DVD. I would know if I didnt return a dvd! Redbox offered $10 credit in exchange for the $26. NO THANKS! Redbox is a scam, and you only have recourse through your credit card company. Screw Redbox, I will never use them again. I like the idea of printing warning signs and sticking them to the boxes. These benign boxes look like a great idea at first, until they charge your card for keeping DVD's that you returned.
I rented 2 movies from redbox one day and the following day went and returned them. Well its a month later and a charge of 26.00 has shown up on my debit card statement as pending. Well I called redbox customer service and they claimed one of the movies was never returned and they have no record showing that its been rented since. The representitive claimed they could do a one time credit of ten dollars but that was it.. I told her I was going to dispute the charge with my bank. She told me to go ahead and do that. What a scam redbox is!
Seriously, If you had the confirmation emails that the movies had been returned. Why not provide that to redbox to prove your case? With there not being a person there, it is definetly up to the consumer to make sure they get the proper info when returning movies. How is redbox suppose to know that you aren't some crook trying to rip them off. They aren't going to just take someone's word for it. Unfortunately, the burden of proof is on you!
They charged me $25 three time for un-returned movies that I return the next day. They give no receipts at the box, so you have to fiight with them. Never again will I use Redbox. It's dangerous for these guys to have your credit card info, especially when they provide no receipt. You are in a indefensible position. I am convinced it is a purposeful fraud and part of their business plan.
You either didn't return the movie, or you returned it to a box that wasn't a RedBox... Learn to take responsibilty for your actions.
Redbox official poilicy is to due a one time full refund for situations like that. It's obvious you didn't return the movie, but that's beside the point.
charging practices; editing content
Well, my complaint is two-fold:
1) As dozens of other complaints I have read, the Redbox charging practices are at best, questionable. I have been charged $26.00 for a DVD that they claimed was never returned twice, and though they did credit my account once, I had to fight with them to do so. Also, on several occasions, I have not been able to return a movie because the machine was full or disfunctioning. Then after contacting customer service (which you only seem to be able to do via email) the best they could offer was try another machine, with no credit for the extra costs now incurred as a result.
2) My other complaint is this, after playing close attention to several different kind of movies, I found that Redbox has edited the language and content of their DVDs, including incredibly obvious voice dubs over profanity. I can't find anywhere on their machines or their site describing this practice (other than the standard "this movie had been modified to fit your television" that comes on most DVDs) so that the customer is aware of it upfront. I don't know why and I don't what the point of carrying R rated movies is if they are going to be edited for restrict language and content but it certainly is happening.
Originally, I was really excited about this service and the convenience it offered but now all it's proved to me is that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!

"after contacting customer service (which you only seem to be able to do via email) the best they could offer was try another machine, with no credit for the extra costs now incurred as a result."
i had a similar problem! but i was lucky enough to have talked to a customer representative named Dustin, he was very proffessional and suave that i had almost melted in my rocking chair, ohhhh dustin ♥ ♥ ♥ it was cool when he gave me my money back, i insisted that the movie had been returned and while i was put on hold for exactly 3 minutes ( i timed it) i did not mind, his dreamy voice kept me at bay while he pulled some strings ( if you know what i mean ; 0 O=====8 ) and i managed to get my dollar bills back. but only after being 100 % sure i had returned them. Mr M.Acho i dont think you sounded confident or they would have given you your money back.
poor quality control practice
I have rented my last dvd from this company. There is no quality control in the product. On several occasions I have rented dvds and have been unable to watch them from start to finish without cleaning the disks. The customer assistance # is only good during the same hours I work. This is the way our future will be going with more automated services and less product quality control. I have exited the "Good old days" and entered the instant gratification future that sacrifices personal interaction. This can change when you learn the names of those that help you everyday. Dont just say hello, Say hello "John" or thank you "Sara" calling people by thier name can help save our humanity just a little everyday, and if im wrong who cares. it will not cost you a thing to try and it will not take up anymore time out of your day. Your going to say hi to people or answer them when tey ask how you are doing, just use thier name in your response. As for Red Box. no more business from me. I will not reward a company that does not take responsibility for a poor product and poor customer service.

broken machines make it impossible to return movies
Tried REDBOX for first time this week. Rented 2 movies. Went yesterday to return them (on foot a few blocks away from my home) and the machine was frozen. Store manager said he has no affiliation. I waited a while but nothing. Tried again just now and machine is STILL FROZEN so I can't return them. So that's 2 movies both 2 days late plus tax, for something that isn't my fault. The next nearest location is 4 miles from my home and I don't have access to a car. Even if I did, the time, energy and gas alone to return those movies makes it not worth it. I will NEVER use redbox again. Too many things can go wrong and they have no way to rectify it. I don't wanna be on the phone with customer service for 5 bucks every time I rent a movie. REDBOX SUCKS.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
You have to accept there is a possibility a redbox could someday be out of order and you need to be able to return them elsewhere. It's rare, but it happens. I once worked in a store that had a redbox for two years, and it never went down. And yes, when stores contain redboxes they have no control or affiliation with them whatsoever. Sometimes if you call redbox they will assist you in relieving fees. It's always worth a try if you haven't already.
You may not be aware but you can return thoses movies to any red box location
claim I have rented something I haven't
I keep getting emails saying I have ordered something on redboxdvd.net. I have not and don't appreciate the phishing scheme. I won't pay anything associated with this...no way...

I made a reservation today 03/20/10 for the new release of Twilight: New Moon. The pickup location given me was a bank, not a McDonalds. There was no redbox, it did not exist. I drove 10 miles to go get it there and even though my gps and google told me the address was wrong, I gave redbox the benefit of the doubt. But it did not exist. In addition, I waited for over 55 minutes to get a representative over the phone seeking for help, but to no avail. How is it that redbox is reaping people off like this. Please return my one dollar plus tax, and please post actual, existing addresses online.
Red box does not provide an optionfor returns when their kiosks are down. I drove around to 3 separate locations only to find them all out of service. Multiple e-mails to the company resulted in their standard e-mail - "find another location to return your movie". I finally was able to return the movie 4 days later...with all the associated charges...
Hey there, it looks like you're getting emails from one of our customers who accidentally entered your email address when signing up. If you forward an email to redboxcare@redbox.com, we'll ensure your email address is removed from communications.
Most RedBox kiosks have an attached service number in which you personally can explain the problem. usually, as in this case, you might be able to receive credit for the damaged disc. If you rented from another venue, then perhaps a friendly phone call or message with a description of the problem, date, time, and place you rented (along with the correct title of the disc) would get you a satisfactory response. A responsible, attentive business manager or attendant should give you a satisfactory response time and satisfy the problem in good time. If not, you should report such to the home office of same, or Better Business Bureau (especially of you've gotten a nasty, negative response) This is the age where we can no longer afford to lose the customer or repeat business. This is the age where we can no longer afford negative response or bad rap, or listing on the BBB's web pages.
So if I were the one seeking your business, I would have a solution for any of the common maladies that befall this type> Make sure that you get treated fairly when you have any dissatisfaction with service of any type, or suggest to them that you will take your business elsewhere. With the economy the way it is now, your hard-earned money should be exchanged for quality ALWAYS.
I rented a movie that was so scratched
It wouldn't play, could not watch The movie.
So disapointed.
HPSW:
Is it possible someone has either lifted your credit card/other info without your knowledge (or associated your email address with something more sinister in mind)?
I have heard that the 'beginnings of identity theft' come about with small "test" purchases, etc. Confirm your credit card number first. Save all emails related for the purposes of reporting to authorities. (if we do NOTHING now, then NOTHING will be done to the real culprits)
Next, inform Redbox from an online, reputable source. Do NOT use a cell phone or portable handset if you are going to discuss your account/credit card numbers. I hope this can be straightened out in your case.
If it works, pass it on. Knowledge is power. Let us know what turns out in either case. Don't hesitate or procrastinate.
You're lying. The redbox.com website uses the Google Maps engine to plot kiosk locations. Nice try.
be ware of this company ~ unethical business practices
I want to warn all would be RedBox DVD renters of some unethical practices by this company. Some have already written of not being able to get refunds and having fees accrued even though the machine was broken and would not take DVD's back.
I just experienced an even scarier prospect. RedBox has just charged me for a DVD five months after I rented it - claiming that I was never charged. They state this even though I have an e-mail from them stating that I was charged and the e-mail has a transaction # and billing # - they didn't even want to hear about that.
My credit card company denied the charge last week 'cause they said the way it was submitted was unusual and strange. I told my credit company that I had not rented a DVD, but for some reason yesterday they went ahead and approved the charge. When I questioned RedBox tonight, they initially had no idea what they were charging me for. Then they went back several months to a time when I rented a movie for the same amount of nights as the current charge and stated, "that must be a charge for las April".
Only thing is I have had DVD's out for the same amount of nights on other occasions as well. They just basically pulled a date out the air and said - well, that is what the charge is for. The representative was horribly inexperienced and did not have any idea what she was doing.
I am going to have to do some research now - something not easy for me as I am disabled and currently not doing well. I have to find out if it is even legal for a company to charge you five months after the fact - just cause they happen to have your credit card. I also have to go through the trouble of fine checking my credit card bill - in order to see if they actually did charge me at the appropriate time (April). According to their own records they did - but they claim those records are just telling me that they "will charge me in the future" not that they have.
So I guess they think that they have till forever to charge me whatever! Certainly this can't be legal.
The other issue that is unethical with this company is that they don't keep up with the quality of their DVD's (in terms of wear and tear). I had two DVD's that I was unable to watch recently cause they were so damaged. Yet they would only give me a refund for one night on each (I had them each out for a few nights).
There was no way for me to tell if they were damaged until I started watching them - one was damaged after 20 minutes, the other after about 40 minutes. So beware - if you do decide to rent from RedBox - they may charge you for something months and months later (with no explanation) and they don't stand behind the quality of their DVD's. In either situation the customer is the loser. Better to go with Blockbuster online or Netflix. This turkey (Redbox) claims to be inexpensive - but they will steal the shirt off your back!
This happened to me today. They charged me $38.44 after returning two DVD's that were lost for 10 days. Totally outrageous! Stay away from this company! I cant stress that enough.
horrible supervisor
i had rented 5 dvds and was on my way to return them someone had brutaly beat me up and i wasnt able to return my dvd i had broken both arms and legs and was in the hospital for a month and when i was release someone had attacked me and threw me donw a flight of stairs and then i went back into the hosspital and stayed for another in crit condition and finaly went to return my 5 dvds and when i talked to randi the supervisor there she told me too bad no refund that she didnt believe my story and not to call back then and hung up on me :(

If they all hate the job so much then they should just quit and find something else to do. No sense being that miserable. But I'm gonna make a guess that they will all have the same attitude no matter where they work.
A bad movie... Wouldn't make it into a RedBox.
randi is my hero! i wouldnt have given you the refund eather take some self defense classes.
That sounds like a load to me, I don't blame Randi for not believing you, and even in the event that you are telling the truth, you had to have known that you would be charged for the disks, and I know from expeirience that hospital visits get very boring, it's not like you didn't have time to make a quick phone call to redbox? Or have a family member return it? And either way, if that is what occured, I am sorry and that really blows for you, but you need to realise that it is not redboxes fault that you got beat up. And redbox is unable to refund after 90 days of the transaction because that is when the transaction is closed and made final. Not saying it was your fault, but you can't blame the supervisor for doing her job.
that is fricken ridiculous where do you live
dvd messed up dvd player
I rented a dvd from redbox in Laurel Delaware, and the dvd was strached real bad but i didn"t know until disk starting mesing up, and by that time, it messed up my dvd player, what should i do about it? I think they should have these things checked every other day, or be able to find out who was the last one who rented the disk and make them pay for it.
dvd fee charged
I just noticed a $25.56 charge on my CC initiated by REDBOX . After simply talking to a rep( [protected]) and explaining my side of the events, my account was credited the $25.56 plus the rentals fees.

that was directed @ ashleenicole, just incase there was any confusion
I dont think redbox is a scam, you see the people that redbox hires have their good and bad days, if you come across rude, ignorant, or say HUH!? to many times, then your gonna make someone not want to give you what your asking for. The secret is to either get someone who answers the phone in an awesome way, or to shmooze the ### out of them. I had the luxuary of talking to a customer rep named Dustin. Such a nice lad, and such a nice voice too... I know that if talked to him you would of gotten your refund.. unless you are ###ed.. your not ###ed, are you?
im sorry but i just had to argue and argue b/c redbox thinks that they make no mistakes we as the buyers make the mistakes. even though come to find out it was their redbox that was having the problem! and a 10 dollar courtesy pay is nothing compared to 50 dollars! you redbox people are a scam and once i finally get all my money back you guys have stolen from me, i will NEVER deal with you people again!
If the charge is a mistake, we will refund you. Even if it's your mistake, we will refund you once. But repeat offenders will get nothing.
