Details of Poor Service: I frequent this Ruth Chris location fairly regularly (at least monthly). When I am moderately hungry I order the child's portion salmon over a bed of romaine with tomatoes. I have never been questioned or told ordering this item was an issue until my visit on October 11. I attempted to place an order for a child's portion salmon. Nature, the server told me no you can't order that. I explained to her I've ordered this several times before. She replied to me "no you haven't, I've been working here since we opened and that is not allowed" I said, excuse me while it may not be typical practice to allow adults to order a child's portion of salmon this is what I've been doing, so please do not insinuate that I am being dishonest. Nature continued to be attitudinal so I requested to speak with her manager. My issue at this point was about Nature's attitude and her level of comfort being so disrespectful to me as a customer. Dave, manager on duty came over to the table. I explained the issue. The only resolution he offered was assigning another server to my table. I thanked Dave for offering to have another server provide service and requested that he also address the Nature's disrespectful behavior. Needless to say Dave did not do as I requested. Nature continued to service surrounding tables. When she walked past I said to her I would like an apology for your disrespectful behavior. She says with a smirk on her face, "sorry for the inconvenience". I said, I want an apology for your disrespectful behavior. She threw her hands up and said she was done talking to more and walked off. After my second encounter with Nature Dave still did not address Nature's behavior or seek to remedy the situation himself with an apology. Dave did not take the time to ask me what I thought would be a fair resolution. After assigning the new server he did not come back to ensure our experience had improved. Unfortunately, I will not be coming back to patronize Ruth Chris. My father's birthday experience was ruined. I spent $186.00 that evening, but never again with Ruth Chris.

I had dinner with my family tonight sept 23rd. I am absolutely shocked at level of service and specifically the attitude and behavior of the waiter(Dan and the duty manager). Food quality was good, but when we questioned why requested were ignored the staff became hostile, making the service even worse. Leaving dirty plates and mumbling comments under their breath. Would never return with family or business associates or refer others. Unacceptable. Council your waiters. All parties at the table agreed they would no longer return. Lots of qualified options in this market.

Hi there! I visited the Palm Desert location on May 26th and I paid with my CC but I decided to pay cash instead right after, server said it was ok and that the charge would be reversed in 2-3 business days and it never did. I already reached out to the restaurant many times, spoke to managers and GM and they couldn't do anything for me. I've already done what I can and haven't been able to get anything resolved.

I purchased a Visa gift card for my parents Anniversary. They dined at the Ruth Chris Restaurant in Pittsburgh. The gift card was valued at $100.00 the restaurant would not accept the card? Very embarrassing for me and my parents. Can someone kindly explain why a Visa gift card ( same as cash) would not be accepted?

I asked for a well done steak, it came out bleeding so I politely asked for it to be cooked better. I felt the waiter was annoyed because he told me that I could just turn it over and the hot plate would finish cooking it. (Smh). So when I asked again to have it returned, he just grabbed my plate with and attitude and left the table. Once he returned, the steak was properly cooked. After we were done eating, he politely asked us if we wanted desert, we said yes and we would like to take it home. I ordered a cheesecake and my wife ordered the chocolate cake. When he brought the check and the desert to us, my wife didn't like the look of the chocolate cake (looked real plain) so we asked to switch it out with another cheesecake and I would even pay for the chocolate cake. He again, got an attitude, said absolutely nothing to us, grabbed the chocolate cake and swapped it out with another cheesecake. I asked him if we had done something wrong which he stated no, not at all. I had a $179 bill and still left a $41 tip. I was still pretty much satisfied with my dinner. Once I got home and opened up my cheesecake, is when I noticed that the cheesecake was barely cooked. It was very wet and sloppy. I compared it to my wife's to see if it was normal an as expected, it was totally different. I have ate at Ruth Chris more than 20 times and have always been satisfied with the food and waiters/waitress. This is the first time experiencing anything like this and I honestly think people spend way to much money to have a service like this.

We are long time patrons of Ruth's Chris Restaurant and have eaten there for most of our family's special occasions for the past 10 years. We frequent Ruth Chris in Boston, Princeton and Waltham quite a bit. We have always dressed up for Ruth Chris but noticed that over the years, other patrons come in wearing jeans, tank tops, flip flops, sneakers or shorts. Today, we were told that they would typically have turned us away because my daughter had on sports shorts. Her shorts were not sports shorts - they are shorts that would be worn for different occasions. My husband had on sneakers with khakis and a collared, button down shirt and he was told his sneakers weren't good. They said they would make an exception and allow us to eat there tonight. We are not happy with the treatment for the following reasons: 1) we saw other folks with shorts and sneakers who were not told about the dress code when they were in the lobby. 2) we went onto the Ruth's Chris corporate website and it says there isn't a dress code but each individual restaurant might have their own dress code; 3) they should tell you about the dress code in advance especially since I made the reservation as always through Open Table so they have my phone number which they have used in the past to confirm reservations. The way in which the front desk communicated the dress code did not make us feel welcome which is a shame, especially given that the money we give to Ruth's Chris every time we eat there.. I feel we weren't treated as respectfully as we should have. My daughter was dressed well even if she had shorts on and had no bra straps or underwear showing, nothing too short on, etc. My daughters always dress well and conservatively so we were surprised at the reception we got - especially since there were quite a few patrons who were dressed in jeans, shorts, sneakers, and other attire. At least, if you are going to have a policy, apply it evenly and let people know in advance.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer's satisfaction.

On August 12th, 2018, I made reservation at your Columbia, S.C. location. I had requested a birthday celebration for my wife. I felt they were quite bias and I was devastated that they did not perform any or mention anything regarding her birthday celebration. We spent over $160.00 and I feel I should be reimbursed fully because it was so disappointing to me and my wife. I can be reached at [protected].
You want a refund because they didn't sing happy birthday to a grown woman? Are you serious? You paid for food. Did you eat it? Did you have complaints about it? Then no, you don't get a refund.

Yesterday I went to Ruths' Chris (which I frequent regularly). I ordered take-out via phone at 6:30pm and was told approximately 20/25 minutes for pick up. The hostess were pleasant as usual. I walked in maybe 6:45 and just asked the status. The ladies said a few minutes so I sat in the lobby. At approximately 6:52 I walked into the bar to pick up my food. NOT ONE BARTENDER ACKNOWLEDGED ME. Eventually Annette the bartender decided to acknowledge me (Far too long). I told her I had take-out. She printed out a receipt however my food was not anywhere in sight. I paid. She came back without the book you put your cards in and placed my card on the bar and said it did not work. She did not allow me to ask why or even ask her to run the card again (there is over $2, 000 on my debit card). She just walked away. After a few more minutes because no one returned to me. Jose Morales (GM) came out said it doesn't work. I said can he rereun it ( I do not believe he did) instead he asked for my ID (I find offensive because if it didn't work why was my ID needed while he held my debit)? I said I just used it to buy a movie ticket. It works. I offered to get cash out of the ATM BEACUSE I KNOW MY CARD WORKS. AND GUESS WHAT? MY CARD LET ME GET THE CASH AND PURCHASE A WATER AT THE WESTIN PRINCTON without incident. I got to my movie late. I used my card again to purchase popcorn and another water again without incident. Jose tells me I should be happy he carded me and that most people are happy when they are asked for their ID to match their card. VERY CONDENSCENDING. I am well educated and have a career. I find this behavior unacceptable even if someone had less education. Please Advise. I am disgusted. More than likely I will make a comment on every platform possible. I am far from pleased with a place I love to eat at, and NEVER had any issues prior.

At approximately 8:35 PM, a food server wearing a name badge which read "Tyler, " canvassed a dining table where I was seated. Five other people were at the table.
The triggering event occurred when Tyler conducted a visual scan of the dining table and immediately removed two dirty steak knives from the place settings of my white male colleagues-- giving them preferential treatment.
Tyler spotted my dirty steak knife but left it on the table. At this, I completely lost my appetite. It had disintegrated. I could not take a bite of my Salmon because my stomach was nauseous.
Immediately, I reported the matter to the manager. His dark eyes hardly flinched as he casually dismissed my experience with "I'm sure it wasn't race or anything like that."
When I returned to my table, a clean steak knife appeared next to my plate. However, by this time, my dining experience was ruined. Whether or not Tyler's actions were indicative of covert institutional racism is certainly debatable.
What is absolutely clear to me is the poor quality customer care I received tonight and the preferential service extended to my white colleagues. Customers are perceptive especially at high-end establishments.
Ensure that your staff understand the importance of diversity and inclusion. Thankfully, there are other fine eateries, such as Connor's Steak and Seafood and Texas de Brazil, where I have always been welcomed and enjoyed the finest of dining pleasures.

On Friday 8th, June 2018, my partner and I came to dinner at Ruth Chris at the Hilton Toronto, to celebrate his birthday. I had made a reservation previously, for which the representative on the phone assured me that a birthday note was made, and the cake slice and candle I had requested would be brought as a surprise for my partner.
The ambiance was lovely, the front desk host was extremely welcoming and we were excited as we have heard wonderful reviews about Ruth Chris.
Our server was fairly polite to say the least. However, he kept forgetting simple things such as the drinks we ordered or the appetizers we had selected on the menu. At the end of the night, though I had specifically requested the slice of cake to be brought as a surpise, he also forgot that detail and I had to request it all over again- needless to say it was not therefore a surprise.
Our steaks were not up to par - whether it was due to us selecting the Halal option, I am not sure. They were both dry and very tough- contrary to the top quality steak reviews I have heard about this restaurant.
For the price that we paid, I felt very disappointed with the quality of food and service. I typically would expect that kind of service to slide at a more mediocre chain restaurant, where you more or less pay for what you get and it makes no sense to cause fuss. But being someone who appreciates nice restaurants and the experiences that come with it, the bill at the end of the night nowhere near matched up the experience we had.
I cannot be certain that it is a reflection of the restaurant itself, or just the fact that we chose a hotel chain rather than an independent location. Due to the incredible reviews I have heard and read, I wanted to share this review privately rather than posting about it publicly.

We booked a 30th Birthday dinner celebration for my daughter and happened to run late with the LA traffic. We called to make the restaurant aware of the delay and they seemed to be okay with it. However, I arrived earlier than the rest as I am the host. I was greeted with an ugly attitude by the front staff. I had balloons bags, etc and was not even offered a place to sit nor a drink while I waited. The host at the front called my daughter to ask if they were still coming for dinner because the restaurant was going to close in an hour. When my party arrived the host was advised that our party number was less due to time constraint. She literally roller her eyes and tapped the counter showing to be upset. Totally unacceptable. One wonders how someone like this is able to work where people come to spend their hard working money. Manager was informed and he was very dismissive of the situation and offered me a drink and appetizers for free. Seriously, I was not looking for any freebies. More like handle the situation and reprimand the ugly behavior from staff. At this point my night had turned out to be a terrible experience. Then I asked for more bread for the table and I was told by the waiter that they had ran out of bread. Waiter did not seem to care much for us, very dismissive throughout our entire time there. However, next to us was another table and he was super attentive to them. We are a hispanic family and sure made us feel so little with all the staff's behavior. The only nice kind person was the guy serving us the water. I truly regret spending my money for this occasion. I had other choices but the birthday girl was highly recommended for their food. I have to say food was amazing, although overly priced for a piece of salmon $ 33 which we ordered for a toddler as we were not even offered a kids meal.

This establishment is racist. After a worker told two additional family members to sit at an additional table, the manager then came over and made a fuss about them sitting at the table becaus he was under the impression that they seated themselves. The two then got up after being asked to sit there to talk with the hostess and manager to tell them about how they felt about the situation and what they were told; the manger then asked them to leave. Had the two family members been Caucasian, this would not have happened, but because they were African American, the situation escalated to something that it should not have. After then telling the workers at this establishment they were racists and did not handle the situation appropriately and would be sued, they then asked for the two family members to come back. This is absolutely insane, embarrassing and I will never come back to this establishment.

Dear Sirs, my wife & I recently had dinner (May 3rd, 2018) at your Destin Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, 15000 Emerald Coast Pkwy, Destin, FL 32541. Very disappointed in our steaks, both were quite tough to chew. My wife had the petite filet and I had the NewYork Strip. I've eaten before at several of your restuarants and have always been quite pleased. Later that evening I was sick from my steak. My wife didn't feel well either. Dear Sir/ Madame,
I have previously spoken with your general manager, Jesse Melbye, in regards to my extremely unpleasant experience at one of your restaurants. However, after his inability to follow through with his word, I feel the need to contact higher authorities as my issue has not yet been resolved. For reference, we dined at the 970 Dixon Road Building B, Toronto location.
To begin, the food was dissatisfying in every way. I ordered a garden salad and when it arrived it was apparent the lettuce was rotten, the waitress then exchanged it for a caesar salad which was equally repulsive. I sent back the salad for the obvious reason that it was not edible and the manager refused to remove it from my bill. After my steak came I immediately recognized the meat had changed, as my husband and I are frequent customers we are familiar with the taste. The manager for the day discourteously argued with me saying the provider had not changed. (The manager was a female named Jesse) However, when I spoke to Jesse Melbye later that week he confirmed that your provider did in-fact change from the Alberta location. The bread was extremely chewy and cold and not appetizing in any way. Overall the meal was terribly unpleasant, along with all interactions made with your manager as she behaved tactlessly snooty.
With regards to Jesse Melbye, I had explained to him my situation that night and he promised to provide me with a gift card in order to reimburse me for my distasteful meal. After frequent attempts to gain contact with him in order to receive my gift card, he has failed to call me back and follow through with his word. Your dreadful customer service is the issue I find the most disappointing, as you would expect a restaurant of such elegant and dignified demeanor to treat their customers with more respect.
As I have previously stated, my husband and I are frequent customers of yours and would enjoy continuing to be so if proper action is taken place. I expect to receive the gift card I was promised and strongly encourage you to have a word with your staff on courtesy in the hospitality industry.

As if we were being judged. Upon leaving, & packing up leftovers, I asked can I bag up my toddler fingers & fries b/c he wanted the Ketchup. They insisted they bag it up & stated ketchup will be no problem, they can pack it. It wasn't until I paid our $ 164.00 tab for the 3 of us n a $10 tip I realized inside my to go bag was a single pack of mcdonalds ketchup inside a plastic ketchup to go cup sealed. Being as though I'm black I found this very racist n disrespectful as well.
If you leave a $10 tip on a $164 bill, you don't have the right to complain about anything, you freaking cheapskate.

We had to ask the bus boy to retrieve her for us. The drink my GF had had too much alcohol and didn't get another drink made. This experience ruined my GF's birthday. We I spend $118.00 I expect top notch service. We won't be back, we will take our money to Fleming's. The ladies at the front check-in was very unprofessional. Please investigate!

My family has eaten at Ruth's Chris for many years, both for personal and business reasons. We have always received impeccable service and outstanding food during each visit, until tonight.
My husband and I stopped by to have dinner in your bar, an early celebration for our 5 year anniversary tomorrow. We were very disappointed at the length of time it took for us to be served. We ordered our wine, bottle 512 on your menu, North by Northwest Red Blend. It literally took 15 minutes for the wine to be brought to our table. We were told the manager was getting our wine after we asked about the length of time it was taking to get our bottle, my husband saw the bartender pull the bottle from behind the bar. To make matters worse, we were so ready to move forward with our evening, after waiting so long already, we didn't pay attention to the bottle when the server came to the table, & because it was a new bottle, we told him to pour, as we were sure it would be fine. At the end of our meal, my husband further inspected the bottle. It was a Cabernet Sauvignon, not the red blend we ordered. I would expect that at a restaurant, with such a stellar reputation as Ruth's Chris, we could assume with some assurance that our bottle of wine would be correct.
Lastly, the amount of time it took for our dessert orders, as well as our to-go order to be placed, was frustrating. We saw 2 other patrons literally walk to the opening in the bar and stand with their bills in order to get them paid. Our server walked by our table 3 times, with the bill standing & credit card showing before it was ever picked up.
The reason I am sharing this experience is more out of disbelief than anger. We have never received this type of service before and wanted to voice our concerns, as we hope this isn't our experience in the future.
The food was excellent, it just involved too much frustration to be truly enjoyed. Maybe additional resources are necessary on a busy Saturday night.

People make mistakes, get over it. If the bottle of wine was that important to you, you should have checked it when you received it. But you didn't even notice when you were drinking it, so you were just worried about being pretentious rather than enjoying your wine.

Last evening my husband I dined at your Garden City, LI, NY branch of the Chris Ruth's chain of restaurants.
Hubby ordered entrees of T-bone steak, and I ordered the lobster tail. My strong complaint is my lobster was brought out without the drawn butter. The server (who was not our waiter) said he would get it. Several minutes passed and our waiter Lou came by and noticed me waiting. He correctly assessed "you need drawn butter!" I agreed. He brought it immediately. We do not frequent the restaurant often but reserve our visits for special occasions. Needless to say, we really look forward to those occasions. A number of minutes passing between the serving of my lobster and the arrival of the butter. At that point, my lobster was lukewarm! I'm certain I do not need to describe how disappointing it is to have tepid lobster. I didn't want to complain so I proceeded to eat it.
The handling of delivering our order was totally unacceptable. You pride yourselves on serving hot sizzling food. My husband's steak, of course, was just that. I had to sit there and watch him start to eat his wonderfully delectable hot steak, ... which was another downer, namely that of not start to enjoy our meal together. It may seem like a small thing but in fact, it wasn't.
It's the first thing the following morning. The negative experience is fresh in, and very much on my mind.
I looked to see the name and means of communication with the restaurant manager...

I went to your local Ruth chris restaurant 02/02/2018. As I arrived at the restaurant everything seem ok until I went inside with my wife and daughter. As I went to reception a lady that I believe was your manager said you can come in because you are wearing shorts, I was wearing dress shorts and dress shoes with a nice shirt and my wife and daughter wear dress Nice. We didn't know where we were going so I didn't think of wearing a suit. I wasn't very embarrassed as other people were there and I didn't even got to tell them I had a reservation. I had been to Ruth Chris before they moved to the building that use to be a bank and never had an issue. I would have understood if I was wearing gym attire or pants... It was very uncomfortable and very disappointing. While I was waiting for the valet to pull my maserati back out, they asked why I wasn't leaving? I said they told me I can eat in short, they said wow there isn't guys that come in flip flops and eat here... That made me more up set. The valet people were nicer then your staff and the deserve every dollar of the 20dll tip I gave themselves for parking my car for 5 minutes. I went back to the site and checked and they do not say anything about wearing shorts. I will Make sure all my friends know as they are many steak houses here in Houston.
Or maybe they lied about the shorts because they did not want my daughter in the restaurant. I do admit that last time we were there that she was screaming and some customers complained ad when she had to go to washroom she was running and almost knocked the waitress down making her spill the food. But they should have been honest because of this. My daughter is only 4 years old give her a break.

I attended the location on Bay Street in downtown Savannah last weekend on 30 Dec 2017, myself and my wife Keshia Jacobs, my wife made the reservation online, the service at the restaurant was pretty good I must say my only complaint was the dinner itself we ordered the stuff mushroom appetizer and I ordered the steak and lobster tails special, the appetizer seemed as if it was poorly made and presented and my steak was supposed to be medium well but was way over cooked (extremely dry and well done), we did not want to complain inside the restaurant but I would like to voice my opinion, we have visited many Ruth Chris locations previously and we are quite familiar with the great service just didn't feel like the same experience this time around.
