I also have had a terrible experience with SMS. I ordered fabric material for my vehicle on June 4,2020. The entire cost of $380.00 was immediately taken out of my account. Two weeks later, I had heard nothing from the company about delivery dates. I inquired and was told that everything was at least two weeks out. So, I waited until July. I again inquired as I had again heard NOTHING from them...what terrible customer service. The response was that they had to make more fabric and could not get the amount of carpet that I wanted. I requested my money returned. I was told it would be. That was a week ago! RIDICULOUS!

I was warned not to order from SMS if I wanted a timely delivery of material. Their scheme is to take your money, send part of your order and then promise it's only going to take 2 weeks to get the rest of it. Every time you contact them, it's going to be just 2 weeks more. Now they have the excuse of Covid causing delays. My order was only placed in May so I probably won't get it for another year. They know that you can't finish your project with only 3/4s of the material so they have you on the hook and have your money. They are just dishonest about the time it take to deliver. And then they blame their customers for being suckers. They do serve high end clients better since they want the repeat business, but screw the people with just one old car to redo. I'm still waiting though as they know they are one of the only sources for materials that sort of match originals.

SCAM ALERT DO NOT BUY FROM SMS! Wow after spending the last hour reading the Complaintsboard.com complaints looks like lots of people had the same experience as I. Ordered and paid for $1600 in fabric 8, was told it was in stock and would ship out. Two weeks later received my order only to find that when I rolled it out and measured, it was only half of what I ordered. Nothing on my invoice to state that the order was short, it was as if they had hoped I wouldn't notice. I called and was told that they were out of the fabric and would need to make more. they made several promises of "next month" we will ship your order. It is now 3/21 and nothing. I have asked for my money back for the remainder of the order 2/21 they stated that they would send a refund but have failed to do that. Very deceptive business practices, takes 100% payment tells you it's in stock, ships what they have and then forgets about you. I am starting paperwork for small claims court to see if I can get my money back.

This note it for Doug. On 3/26, I ordered four yards of blue vinyl material for my 1970 Oldsmobile. I ordered this based on a perfect sample that I received in the mail from your sales team which made me believe that you have the correct material (I'm also a repeat customer!). Several months went by without the vinyl material which seemed strange because I was able to receive a sample of it. I followed up in May to understand where my order was and didn't receive a response. I followed up again in June and received a response from Kim that my vinyl would be shipping. After several months, I unfortunately received several yards of Mopar blue vinyl material which isn't even close to the Oldsmobile vinyl (and it was a damaged product as the dye appears to have bled off the material). I immediately contacted SMS to let them know I received the wrong order and asked how to send it back. Crickets. Finally, Kim came back saying the vinyl material I needed was being made. I am more than willing to reduce the size of my material request to whatever yardage you have available of the sample material in stock that I received. It has now been six plus months, I haven't received my correct blue vinyl material (which I know you have as the sample was perfect!), and I have several yards of this Mopar vinyl that I'd like to get back to SMS. Please advise on how I can get the correct material as I have a show the fall that I need the material for. Thank you.

I ordered a pair of door panels for a *** October, which I paid for in full at that time. I was told there would be a lead time of one year.After repeatedly emailing with a *** at SMS over the course of 2.5 years, asking about the status of the order as after one year Id still not received the door panels.I had, finally, gotten some traction with an individual named *** who said on October that he was taking over the process from *** and he would get them done by the end of the year. That time came and went and I contacted him again in January 2022. He said they would get done by the end of the month.I received a pair of door panels in an incorrect color on January 28, 2022. I emailed with *** who said I should return them and they would remake them correctly.My last contact with him was March 7, 2022. Ive emailed him, Ive emailed the companys general email address and Ive phoned and left messages (no one answers the phone, ever).It is now July 27, 2022 and I still have not received them.Im extremely tired of this saga.

I ordered material and reproduction door panels for a 59 Plymouth in May . SMS was running a Covid sale and I took advantage of the offer. The material was delivered in a timely manner. However, I am still waiting on door panels 2 years and 2 months later. Early in the process I would ask for updates and was given updated completion dates which kept getting pushed further and further out. Over the last year, I have tried direct emails, emails through their web site system and phone messages. None are ever returned. Now I have paid for door panels and I sent them my original parts and trim to complete the panels. I have an email trail documentation. I found the Complaintsboard.com site and it seems it is the only thing the company will respond to. I understand that this type of work takes time and it was it the middle of Covid. I do not understand no communication and being lied to about completion dates.

At that time, I was told it would be 6-8 months for delivery, but it has now been nearly two years with no results or status. I have called multiple times but cannot get a manager on the phone for an explanation. I have also e-mailed multiple times asking for status - most of the time I get no response, but in the few instances that SMS has replied it is something to the effect that "...it will be another x months", or that a manager will contact me (I only received 1 e-mail from a manager about part of my order, which a date that came & went). They have given me multiple time estimates that have come and gone. And yet...when I called the company's ordering department about a year ago, and then again about 3 months ago, they indicated that the current wait time is 6-8 months, just as I was originally told. So I believe they have been finishing other customer orders ahead of mine, or they are misleading the public about their wait times.I would like these items to be sent to me ASAP - I have been at a standstill for months on this car project, and the lack of responsiveness and communication has been very frustrating, particularly when I paid them over $2,200 nearly 2 years ago. I would also like to be contacted by a manager who can give me a realistic timeframe for delivery, and then for the company to honor that commitment.

As you can see from the attached invoice, I ordered the fabrics back on Jan 13, 2022, and paid for the fabrics in full at that time. I received the one fabric (9 yards of ***) sometime in April. I have called and emailed the company several times asking for an ETS for the 3 yards of the *** and as of this writing have not heard back from the company. THe lasted call I made was on June 7th.While I still need the fabric and would like them to fulfill my order, it is now over 4 months and the most frustrating part is them not returning my calls for emails.At this point I want a refund of $297.00.

This past Spring I reached out to Complaintsboard.com to help resolve this issue. They reached out to SMS, on my behalf, and were told I could expect my door panels by the last half of May. I had no faith that the deadline was going to happen but accepted their response. This past June I filed another complaint and was told by the company they were working on them and that they would be ready in 2-3 weeks. I explained that I could wait until July 1st, which gave SMS Interiors an extra week. I tried calling this past week to see if the door panels were ready and no answer and no return call. I have no idea when the door panels will be ready and car show season is half over! This company needs to refund the money they have stolen from customers and close its doors for good!

I ordered a headliner, seat covers and door panels for a classic Galaxie 500XL in January . I received the headliner a few weeks after the order was placed and paid in full. Then I started following up on delivery of the door panels and seat covers. I was asked to supply the metal trim from the door panels for use on the new ones. These pieces were supplied in April . Approximately every 3 months after that, I have followed up on the anticipated delivery. The answer was typically another 4-6 weeks. All of the initial correspondence was with the company's customer service. In May , I was told that the door panels were to be made in June . However, by October , a different representative started answering my emails, advising me to follow up in January as they planned to start production on orders received in 2020. Since my order was placed early in 2020, I expected to be near the front of the schedule. It's now May 2022, and I still don't have my product. Seeing other complaints, I notice orders placed after mine are being fulfilled. I'm concerned that the parts I sent for the door panels have been lost, which might be why my order is stalled. I've been patient, even asking for a concrete delivery date. Honest communication would be more appreciated than the evasive responses I've received so far.

I purchased a set of seat covers for my *** Customline Coupe $1,495.00. Also ordered carpet and trunk liner which have been received. In early May , I ordered new seat covers and interior door and quarter panel upholstery from SMS Auto Fabrics of Canby, OR 97013. They quoted me approximately a year to deliver the order which involved creating the new seat covers and door panels, and i gave them a 50%deposit to get them started and also provided them with several original seat cover and door panel materials to facilitate getting the job done in a timely fashion. Since then, I have been billed several times, and was told that I am "PAID IN FULL" several times by their customer service representative, and have still not received the balance of my order , (after 2 years and 1 months time of waiting). It seems like they take your money in advance of completing the job, then make you wait an unacceptable long period of time to finish sending you your order. They have not kept their word on any of the delivery dates that I was promised, so far. I finally received the seat covers from them, earlier in 2020, but when I inquired about the interior panels, they would not give me a completion date. I have tried to contact them many times to inquire about the balance of my order, and they haven't responded to my telephone calls and emails. I sent them original seat cover to use as patterns to make the new covers from and they promised to send me back my original cover patterns, but never did. When I inquired as to why they were never sent back, they told me that they cut these original covers up, use them to make the new upholstery and then keep them! I want them sent back to me!. I also believe that they may have overcharged me for some of the work performed.

I ordered some material and new seat covers to be made on 6/2. I was told it would take 6 months. I agreed to that and paid for them. I wrote to confirm with Doug on 7/1 that my covers would in fact be done by the end of the year, which would be an extra month beyond original 6 months. He said "End of the year will work". I contacted them on 11/05 to again confirm that my seat covers would be done by the end of the year. And they said "December completion for that" (seat covers). I also ordered a pre-made headliner, wind lace and extra material on 7/7. When asked how long that would take, Doug said "Takes about 2 weeks". I contacted them 4 weeks later and asked about my headliner. They said "Will be a minimum of 3 weeks" from now. I contacted them 3 weeks later...they said "material won't be ready until after Labor Day". I contacted them after Labor Day...they said "Earliest would be end of September". I contacted them the beginning of the next month...they said "going to be a minimum of two more weeks". I contacted them a month later...they said "material will be done mid-November, once it's done then we can make your headliner". I contacted them the middle of the month...they said "headliner will be ready the end of the month" (November). I contacted them on 12/10...they said "we had to make more headliner material which is on the way to us and then windlace will ship at the same time". As of 1/5 I have not received anything from SMS. You can't get talk to any on the phone, they won't answer. You have to email them, and then they just respond with a new excuse and a date further in the future.

On 8/26, I paid two invoices to SMS. The first was for material and vinyl, which was used to cover my car seats. This order was fulfilled satisfactorily. The second was for door panels to be produced by SMS, using the same material. I promptly received the material. However, the door panel order remains unfulfilled. I provided the chrome strips from my old panels, which are to be placed on the new; however, I indicated that I would mount the buckles and window switch grommets myself, reducing the effort for SMS. On 10/14, I inquired by email as to the disposition of my order. I was informed that it would not be until after the first of the year, I should inquire back then. On 1/9/22, I inquired by email again. Not receiving an acknowledgement, I inquired again two days later, and was informed "I still have a ton of orders way older than yours that need to get done first. Your order is still extremely new in the big picture." I gave it nearly two months, and emailed again on 2/28/22 to say I was checking in. Again, no response. I called yesterday (3/9/2022), and was directed to their order inquiry line where I left my name, contact info, invoice number, and inquiry. I followed up with this email: I just now left a phone message. I just want an estimate of how long it might be before you get to my door panels. I understand you are backlogged, I just want to know where I am in the queue. Thanks *** I really would like to receive the panels before the big *** show in July. I don't want to cancel my order - SMS indicated to me they reserved the matching material I've already received for my panels, and I can't risk a mismatch. I just want to know when I can expect them. The attached invoice (***) has been paid in full.

They immediately charged me the full amount of $2,143.00, telling me that they could provide the requested covers that I selected. 4 months went by with no contact or update. I reached out to them to ask that photos be taken of the work being done and send them to me before sending me the actual item so that I could confirm the colors were correct. They told me they would have some photos for me in a month, that did not happen. No contact or update. I reached out to them again 3 months later, same scenario, but this time they would not give me a finish date. I reached out again 2 months later. No photos, no progress, no finish date. No helpful answers at all. While all this time, they said they would send photos within a month. I have nothing to show for this purchase. Now, they are telling me they are too busy to send me a refund. This is ridiculous to say the least! I just want my money back. In my opinion, if a company is going to charge upfront for work to be done, they should at least give a timeline on the process and keep in touch with the customer with any problems. They have never given me a straight answer on when this job would be completed and I have had to reach out to them every time during this past year, sometimes multiple attempts just to get a vague answer or no call back from anyone at the business. I am extremely disappointed with this company. Again, I just want a full refund of my purchase with no more excuses. Why people have to resort to this action to get things moving or done by this company blows my mind! I have read a lot of similar complaints about this company and seen in the past year that their issues were resolved before mine, even though my order was placed before theirs were.

Order was placed and paid for on 1/13. Invoice134555. Total charged - $1080.00. The order required that we send in original parts from the vehicle for refinishing. SMS promised "3 months" for completion. We shipped the parts to SMS and were charged an additional $150 on 4/30. Total amount paid towards this order is $1230.00.We have called numerous times within the past year and typically get forwarded to the "customer service" department which is a full mailbox. Not one phone message has been returned. We have emailed many times and replies, when received, are received anywhere from 7 to 20 days later. None of the email replies have given us any kind of timeline for an ETA of the finished product.On 6/20/22 I called SMS. I spoke to *** in the "customer service" department. She was very rude and aggressive. She told me that "we haven't had a full staff in over two years and we're working on orders from 2019; orders we received long before yours. We weren't even working on any orders until very recently". I told her that we were never informed of that and reminded her of the 3 month" promise when we initially placed the order in 2021. I asked her why SMS accepted the order and charged us for the full amount, if they weren't doing any work. She abruptly hung up the phone.30 minutes later, *** called me back claiming phone trouble. Her demeanor was much more pleasant and she said she would call me the following day with information about my order. It's been 48 hours - no phone call. We don't need information about our order - WE NEED OUR PARTS. Reading the other 149 complaints on this list, its pretty obvious that the blatant lies and excuses is just the way the do business. SMS has our parts as well as $1230.00. This company needs to do the job we paid for and send us our completed order.

On 8/15, I delivered upholstery material from two old cars to SMS Auto Fabrics in Canby, OR to use as patterns for new upholstery. I was quoted a delivery date of 1/15 for some of the material and 4/15 for the rest. I paid 50% down ($4784.43). Some of the material was provided by third party vendors and I received them in a reasonable time. As of 3/14/22, I have received none of the items which SMS was going to produce themselves. I understand the pandemic has caused problems with businesses everywhere and have been patient with them, however, attempts at finding out the status of my order have gone unanswered, or have been answered with new dates which weren't met. In early December , I received a call from someone in SMS's production department telling me that they were working on one portion of my order and had a question about it. This was followed on 12/15 with an invoice requesting payment of the second half of the portion they were working on. I contacted SMS and told them I would be glad to pay but I wanted 2 yards of cloth added to the order when they shipped it. I also said I wanted an accurate delivery date for the rest of my order which they said would be imminent. They agreed to both of those and I received a revised invoice including the extra cloth and paid with my credit card on 12/15. I was told that I would receive a paid in full invoice for the portion I paid for along with shipping information for that portion. When two weeks passed and I did not receive either one of those and did not receive the material, I called and talked to someone who said that shipping was held up because I added the extra cloth. I asked how long it takes to go cut two yards of cloth off a roll and was told two weeks. As of 3/14/22, I still haven't received any of the material that SMS was making and haven't received any further information from SMS. The people at SMS that I have dealt with are Kim and Leslie.

I have several issues regarding services that have been paid for and not adequately provided by SMS Auto. 1- In June, I sent door panels for a '54 Cadillac to them for restoration services. Initially they promised me a completion date of "around the beginning of the year", meaning early 2019. I called in December and was told I was mistaken, that I should not expect anything until March. I waited until April , and was told that I should not have expected this to be completed within a year's time. I emailed in July and September and was each time given another future date the work was expected to be completed. In October I threatened with a lawsuit and they offered me a 10% discount on the fabrics I needed to complete other parts of the interior of the vehicle. I still do not have the door panels, after over 22 months of waiting. Issue 2- The fabrics, kick panels and package tray order October is still not complete. I am waiting on the kick panels and package tray. When I asked in January , I was told they "just needed color" and would be sent shortly. Issue 3 - For the fabric order, I specifically asked them to ensure I was ordering enough to complete the job, to which I received an e-mail reply that I had ordered sufficient amount for my car. My car is in the shop now, and it turns out there is nowhere near enough fabric to complete the job. SMS told me they don't have any more in stock and that they had sent me the last they had. That's probably why I was told I had enough; they didn't have any more. I had to repurchase materials locally to do the job. Now the door panels are supposed to match the interior, so it does not make sense for me to send material I purchased locally to them to do my work. On Monday April 4,2020 I requested a refund and return of my door panels. I was told that would be done by the end of that week. On Monday April 20 I made the request again, and was told they are short staffed so I will have to wait.

I was warned not to order from SMS if I wanted a timely delivery of material. Their scheme is to take your money, send part of your order and then promise it's only going to take 2 weeks to get the rest of it. Every time you contact them, it's going to be just 2 weeks more. Now they have the excuse of Covid causing delays. My order was only placed in May so I probably won't get it for another year. They know that you can't finish your project with only 3/4s of the material so they have you on the hook and have your money. They are just dishonest about the time it take to deliver. And then they blame their customers for being suckers. They do serve high end clients better since they want the repeat business, but screw the people with just one old car to redo. I'm still waiting though as they know they are one of the only sources for materials that sort of match originals.
