Since August this year, the smoke detectors seem to short circuit and start to chirp. It starts with one smoke detector and over the course of a week, the whole system starts to malfunction. We have had several technicians to our home and they seem to be able to fix the system for a little while by replacing the smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors before the whole system malfunctions again.
I have tried to contact a manager about the issue because I want to cancel the subscription and they told me that if I cancel I have to pay an early cancelation fee of $1000. I told them I want to cancel because the system keeps malfunctioning and they responded that the system is working. I asked why I would continue to need technicians at my house if the system was working and they just repeated that the system was working. This will be the 4th technician to my home since August. I also asked to speak with managers regarding the issue and I am told "no" each time.
They also have suggested that I take out a loan to pay off "the late cancellation fee" since they are claiming the system is working.
Claimed loss: I have lost several days work waiting for technicians to arrive. They have been times when the technician wasn't able to come at the designated time which meant another time needed to be scheduled.
Desired outcome: I would like to cancel the subscription with no cancelation fee since this is an ongoing issue and the company cannot guarantee their equipment.

Persistent malfunctions in your smoke detection system warrant immediate attention. Document each technician visit and any communications with the company. Firmly request to speak with a manager to escalate your cancellation request, emphasizing the ongoing issues. Highlight that continued service is ineffective if you require repeated visits for repairs. If necessary, consider filing a complaint with a consumer protection agency to address the unfair cancellation fee and seek resolution.
