SafeCo Home and auto insurance

My husband and I purchased home owners insurance and we are paying on the insurance through our mortgage company. It was included in our monthly payments. We went through veterans united to get a referral to safeco. We decided to bundle our auto and home to get a discount. We paid the initial payment for auto in may and our first premium in June when the policy started. Evidently safeco did a new home insurance policy without contacting us. They cancelled our auto insurance because of the policy going back through the under writer. I noticed an issue with the right track app which we use the app for 3 months to track our driving to get us a better discount. Once I noticed they stopped the right track I told my husband and he called safeco. They stated they sent our policy on the home back through under writing and it cancelled out our auto insurance. But we were told it was their mistake that don’t worry about it she would make sure we were reinstated. But we had to start the right track over. Which we have done. A week later we received a check from safeco fir over $700. We called asked about the check. It was a refund fir our home premium. They advised us not to cash the check to destroy the check. Which we destroyed the check. I. July 2022 we received another check fir a little over $300. We called on that check and we were advised we could keep that check. So we deposited the check. In august if 2022 we had over $600 deducted from our account from safeco. We called and sent them proof of the draft from our checking. We were told they made a mistake and they would refund us the money. We were told to call back the next day. They stated the next day that we called that the money would not be refunded. They made a mistake and cancelled our premiums so we got a refund. They reinstated our policy in July. They did not take Julys payment. But they took back the refund check. July payment and august payment from the august draft. They cancelled the policy and took money from our account over paying themselves. Would not refund us the money It was their mistake. They owe us a refund in our account. They refuse to correct their wrong. They took money to cyber their mistake. They are crooks.

Desired outcome: I want them to stop screwing up and refund them money they owe us. I should not have to pay for their mistake.

SafeCo Auto insurance

I cancelled my Safeco policy #5186 on 7/20/2022. Iwas charged a premium of

$179.75 on 7/18/2022. I can no longer afford $179.75 a month.I obtained a policy from another carrier at a more affordable price.On 8/18/2022 I was charged another $179.75. I received an Email that $179.75 will be charged on 9/18/2022. Please correct your records and refund the monies due me.

SafeCo A claim I filed weeks ago

I filed a claim on 8-4-22 today is 8-20-22 and I have not heard from an agent yet about it I've been calling leaving messages at a person that's assigned to the case almost every day still nothing no call back.

I'm hoping this will help me with someone anyone to call me to get the ball rolling.. the claim number is [protected]-02 I will continue to keep calling or get a attorney evolved if need but this is ridiculous I've never known a insurance company to do such a poor job on getting back to a customer I'm glad I don't have you for my insurance company I would never recommend this company to anyone

I'm still waiting on a agent to contact me about a claim since 8-4-22 yesterday 8-22-22 I tried calling my agent again no answer I was bounced around from agent to agent for about 40 minutes still no results then I tried calling her boss left a message and no reply hopefully I hear back soon..this is so ridiculous I'm so glad my insurance company isn't that difficult this company is unbelievable..claim# [protected]-02

SafeCo Home Protection Policy

Supervisor Michael H. of Liberty Mutual (Safeco) - Michael told me "I apologize for the delay as I was in the air traveling all day yesterday. I was able to investigate this issue thoroughly though, and the exclusion that we discussed while we were at your home does apply. Therefore, we do not have coverage for this loss under our policy."

The City of Tempe Representitive said "This should be a covered loss…none of the exclusions should apply. Safeco in my opinion should cover the claim." .

I personally feel that this is water that flowed from above the surface because it had to go over the barriers to even reach the window wells and never came in to them from underground. The exclusion clearly says "water below the surface of the ground" It dose not say water flowing above ground also it did not go through the wall of house it busted a window by filling a window well. SEE BELOW:

Below is the Sections they used to deny me:

SECTION I — “PROPERTY COVERAGES BUILDING”

Subsection: “PROPERTY LOSSES WE DO NOT COVER”

Subsection: “10. Water Damage, meaning:”

Subsection: “b. water below the surface of the ground,

including that which exerts pressure on, or seeps or leaks through a building, wall, bulkhead, sidewalk, driveway, foundation, swimming pool, hot tub or spa, including their filtration and circulation systems, or other structure;

Subsection: “e. water which escapes or overflows or discharges, for any reason, from within a sump pump, sump pump well or any other system designed to remove water which is drained from the foundation area. Water includes any water borne materials.

This exclusion applies whether the water damage is caused by or resulting from human or animal forces or any act of nature. Direct loss by fire, explosion or theft resulting from water damage is covered. This exclusion does not apply to Personal Property We Cover that is away from a premises or location owned, rented, occupied or controlled by an insured. This exclusion applies to Personal Property We Cover that is on a premises or location owned, rented, occupied or controlled by an insured even if weather conditions contribute in any way to produce the loss.

Desired outcome: Overturn the BAD Decision. Because it should be covered.

SafeCo Premium charged for cancelled policy.

My name is Kevin Tarpey. I cancelled my Auto Policy on 7/20/22.

I was charged for premium on 7/18/22.

It should have been refunded by now. It hasn't been.

Today I was charged the premium in the amount of $179.75.

I’m writing to formally contest the retroactive inflation of the cost of our deductible by your company from $2000 to $6855 after the completion of work, due to an error on the part of your company. SafeCo Auto insurance

I filed an Auto insurance claim on July 16th. Candace Owens from Safeco initially said that the other driver was at fault. The other driver didn’t have insurance and I had a $500 deductible. When I told her I wanted to seek medical attention for stress she got me in touch with Whitni Hinojosa. Whitni said after further review my claim for medical was denied and also I was now at fault for the accident making me liable. I feel this is all because I asked for medical care.

Desired outcome: I shouldn’t be Liable as I want liable until asking for medical care

SafeCo Annual Cost has sky rocketed in just a few years.

I am a 65 year old female who has been with Brown & Brown for numerous years. Why am I paying $3,484.00 a year while the average Maryland home owner is paying a 3rd of that. I have been left hanging with a follow-up since 2020 by a Mr. Jamie Lawson. Is this how we treat our senior members. I am in the process of retiring I cannot afford to payout $295 a month for home insurance while most Marylanders (not my neighborhood) are paying an average of $100. I am a healthcare worker, I've never stopped working since this pandemic. I have protested REDLINING back in my days, it feels like we may need to open up this subject matter again in my community. You are killing us senior citizens in the "people of colour" neighborhoods. Policy #OF2294221.

Desired outcome: Treat me with respect, do not overcharge me. Lower this annual cost.

SafeCo Safeco Auto Insurance

Agent: The Brinson Agency (soon to be former agent)

My agent added coverages (2) to my policy which I did not request. One has been resolved, but the 2nd issue has not. When I added my 2022 Kia, Seltos in December 2021, I requested full coverage for the vehicle, which was done. My agent also added full coverage on my 200 VW, Jetta, which I did not request, as I have never had full coverage on that vehicle. That addition, of course, increased my premium unnecessarily. I only found that mistake out when I was questioning another issue on my policy. After having spoken with Leanne (sp?) on 24 June 2022, she had the amount of $50.49 removed from my bill (issue #1). She also informed at this time of the unauthorized full coverage added to my VW in December 2021. After I complained that it was not coverage I had agreed to and had been charged for since December through June, I wanted the amount refunded. She said that she would refer it to the appropriate department.

Since I had not received a reply/notice of refund for those six unwanted months, I call Safeco on 22 July 2022 and spoke with Andrea. She could not find a record of my conversation with Leanne on 24 June and was only requesting a refund for approximately one month. I received notification today, 26 July 2022 that I would only be receiving a refund of $35.36. In my estimation, based on that amount, I should be receiving a refund of approximately $245.00, reflecting the unauthorized coverage from the period of December 2021 to June 2022.

Needless to say, I am changing my insurance policy to another agency. This is not the first time something like this has happened. Although I realize that Safeco is not responsible for actions taken by my agent, the fact still remains that I was overcharged for something I did not want, and I do not agree that I should be penalized for someone else's mistake.

SafeCo Auto insurance

Claim filed to Safeco on 5/24/22. Melanie Hoge received the claim on 5/27/22. On 6/31/22Caliber Collision, Safeco partner serviced the car and Tonya said that it was a Total Loss. 6/8/22 - Lynae McCall said the car is still repairable, however the Caliber said that it was a total loss. On 6/22/22 Lynae McCall declared car was a total loss. On 6/27/22 Lynae McCall paid off West Lake Financial (pay off amount) for $9,200.35. On 6/30/22 up to July 8, 2022 - Christian Rivera was asking for the title of the Car which means that Safeco paid Westlake Financial. However, Lynae McCall paid only $3,179.51 and not $9,200.35. Problem with Lynae McCall was playing with the client. Lynae McCall causes me with high blood, emotional distress, anxiety, suffering for playing with me from June to July 2022. Lynae McCall apologize, but I told her that those miseries I suffered especially I am an elderly woman cannot take her playing with clients. I told her to correct her mistake. Lynae told me too that I can keep the vehicle especially when I asked her if I can take the tires because the 4 tires were all brand new and costs $1,000 one week before the incident. She said that "that is your car and you can have it".

Desired outcome: Safeco to payoff $9,200.35 to West Lake Financing on 6/27/22. Copy of the payment to Westlake Financing, attached. Tell Safeco to stop lying & playing with clients.

SafeCo auto insurance

SafeCo wants to penilize me because I'm old and son't have a cell phone. They are charging me 11% extra because I don't have two cell phones, one for me and one for my wife, that wouls allow them to monitor our auto usage. Our usage is less than 4000 miles a year and they can verify that. Additinally I have offered to submit to them videos from my dash cam which includes GPS data that shows not only where I go but my speeds and a moving map. But that's does not seem to be good enough.

SafeCo wants me to spend about $1200/yr, that's unlimited data for two phones in order to avoid paying the extra premium, There are laws in this state about messing with old people and that is exactly what SafeCo is doing.

Desired outcome: Either SafeCO can pay for the phones and the service, provide me with a dongle for the car or let me supply them with video data that shows them our driving habits.

SafeCo Claim payment

Hello I had a frozen/broken pipe that flooded my basement with 2ft of water on 01/18/22 it’s now 06/02/22 going on five months I received partial payment now I’m waiting on a payment that they accepted for around 20k they said they mailed out on 05/10/22 nothing came. I tried to resolve the issue keep getting the run around. I have been in contact with my claim’s representative with is the third rep I had on this claim. Someone was supposed to call me yesterday and never did I called today and just get voicemail. I have contractors at the house doing the work that want to be payed. I don’t have the funds till I get my agreed upon payment. It’s a simple matter of them direct depositing my payment and I can’t state enough that this happened almost 5 Months ago need help

SafeCo OX6690021

My name is Charles Pride, I have been calling to make changes on my Home Policy #OX6690021 since May 2, 2022 it is May 6, 2022 and no one has returned my call. I have waited on the customer service line for 3 days which automatically informs there is an over the a 10 minute wait each time. and I have waited! I have left numerous messages and have been told an agent would return my call. Nothing. I don't understand why I do not have a direct agent handling my home policy that I can contact directly. Today day 5 I was hung up on. My current dwelling coverage is $332,900. I am looking to reduce this coverage to make this policy more affordable for me. I know this coverage can be reduce to at least $232, 900 - $250,900 but no one will contact me. I want to keep this policy in effect which renews May 21,2022. PLEASE HAVE AN AGENT CALL ME AT [protected]. At this point a week with no follow-up is unbelievable

SafeCo Homeowners insurance

I had water come through my roof and ceiling following Tropical Storm Ida in September 2021. I filed my claim using the Safeco mobile app. I hired a restoration company to come in and fix the roof and clean up the internal water damage.

Safeco nickel and dimed me from the start! My initial thoughts were that it should be about a $10,000 claim but Safeco wanted to pay me $1,200. Here are a few examples:

1) The damaged portion of the drywall ceiling was 12 feet by 6 feet. Safeco was going to reimburse me for 1.1 sheets of drywall. I thought that I would need at least 3 and possibly 4 sheets of drywall to fix. The standard sheet of drywall is 4 feet by 8 feet. How they got 1.1 I will never know... well, I do know: they tried to screw me out of my actual damages. Try going to Lowe's, The Home Depot, or any other hardware store and ask for 1.1 sheets of drywall. The store will sell you 1 or 2 sheets, but they won't sell 1.1 sheets.

2) Safeco had an independent adjuster come and look at my damage. Said adjuster went onto the roof and went into the room that had the damage to the ceiling. He did not go into the attic. I requested 4 times that he go into the attic as the water came through the roof, through the attic, through the ceiling, and onto the floor of my home. I wanted to know what damage was there also in the attic. The adjuster did not and refused to go into the attic. Safeco's initial offer to me was to have 32 square feet of 6 inch insulation replaced. A standard roll of insulation is 40 to 75 square feet depending on the brand, so again they are shorting me on materials cost. Safeco refused to acknowledge that me insulation was 12 inch insulation. They refused to admit that y insulation was 12 inches even though their adjuster did not go in to the attic. I sent them pictures of the damage along with pictures showing the insulation along with a tape measure indicating that the insulation was 12 inches. Safeco stuck by their guns and would not change their estimate even though I proved that it was wrong and that their estimate was based on no facts as they did not go into the attic to check for damage.

3) I could go on and on...

Safeco switched adjusters on me 5 times. Each time that I got a new adjuster I had to go through the whole story about Safeco's initial and ongoing failures. I grew tired of them not responding to my phone calls and or e-mails and reported them to the Pennsylvania Insurance Department. After I reported them to the PA Insurance Dept they suddenly became quite responsive going forward regarding returning my calls and or emails. Oh, they still nickel and dimed me, but they at least acknowledged that I was out there.

I eventually hired a public adjuster. A public adjuster acts as a representative to deal with an insurance company. The public adjuster had to have an independent reviewer, which I had to pay out of pocket $750, come out to survey the damage and report back to Safeco.

The public adjuster eventually made a settlement with Safeco for $14,995. Sounds good, but I had to pay $750 for the independent appraisal, $2,678 to the public adjuster for their service, and $3,185 to the restoration company for things that Safeco did not pay for (even though they were contractually obligated to do so). So, my net payment is $7,782 in what should have been $10,000.

I received my payment on April 6, 2022 to a simple claim that I reported on September 6, 2021. The bottom line is that it took 7 months of aggravation to settle the claim for 77% of what it should have been settled for.

SafeCo Incompetent adjuster claim #[protected] mar 14 2022

After 3 weeks communicating with my claims Adjuster Tamara Gates who confirmed several times that I had coverage up to $10,000 for the repair of broken sewer drain lines, I receive a letter on April 8th via email that coverage is denied. Having hired contractors and regularly sent Tamara updates and photos of contractor progress by email I heard nothing for 3 weeks to indicate coverage would be denied. A total of $2,000 was allowed for replacing tile. Needless to say, I was surprised to get the letter denying coverage for plumbing and foundation repairs. Clearly Tamara did not understand the policy. I am not asking for anything I am not entitled to but to have an honest assessment of my claim done by a competent adjuster should not be too much to ask. Telling a customer you are covered for a loss, then taking it back is unforgivable.

SafeCo Denied full coverage of a windstorm that damaged my rv.

Claim#:[protected]-01

An unfortunate and unexpected windstorm damaged my RV. I filed this claim over five months ago, have exchanged emails over 30 times, have talked to several different agents, and Safeco will NOT cover the accident that damaged my RV.

At one point, I was to be charged two deductibles: one to cover the front and side, and one to cover the rear bumper. After waiting additional weeks for a reply, I found out from the repair shop and not from Safeco that the damage would not be covered. WHY?

No explanation has been provided to help me understand their decision.

When damage has been done from the same incident to different parts of the vehicle, why is Safeco only covering part of it?

Communications with this company are impossible, until I contacted my local sales representative. Only then did I hear from the adjuster.

The repair shop has photos. My photos are. pdf and can't be uploaded on your platform.

Desired outcome: Cover the full extent of the damage caused by the windstorm or explain why, if not.

SafeCo Policy being cancelled

My policy was renewed, and then a few months later it was cancelled.

I need assistance with having my policy reinstated.

I have had this policy since 2013, and only recently was forces to file claims.

I do not feel this was a fair act. I have also contacted 8 different companies and was denied by all. The it appears that I have been blacklisted.

I do not believe this is okay and would like some help in resolving this

SafeCo Agent Nicole Williams

In switching from State Farm, I told the Safeco agent, Nicole Williams, what date I was cancelling--she wrote the policy to start 10 days later and now the DMV is threatening to suspend my license.

I am firing Nicole because not only did she not pay attention to my timeline concerns and the transfer to a new agency, she is incredibly rude, with zero care or concern and is now causing a great deal of trouble for me at the DMV, who will fine me $250!

I will also file a complaint with the Division of Insurance/Nevada.

I am FURIOUS that this agent is so incompetent and nasty, not to mention totally lacking in service or customer care.

Desired outcome: Resolve this issue with DMV NOW!

SafeCo Auto claim

I was rearend by a Safeco driver on 12/24/2022. I did hear from Safeco until January 19th after I hired an attorney. I have since been told that my claim was under SIU when it wasn’t at all for a week. And the adjuster comes on the line with a offer of 300.00 for my inconvenience and pain and suffering. I want her terminated for not doing her job at all. She has sat with information and bills and will not issue payments to me at all. The medical bill will adversely affect my credit and Safeco does not seem to care. You have the liability for the accident that occurred on Christmas Eve. The adjuster decided to reject the offer because she did want to do her job.

Desired outcome: I want my doctor bills payout in full and I want a $2000.00 payout for my injury and inconvenience due to your insured injuring me.

claims agent tawana smith out of Las Vegas gets very loud and hostile on the phone when you don't agree with what she's lying about, she'll try to tell you what you did and what you should have done to avoid being hit. She thinks she can read minds and thinks she can make up her own rules for the road when the highway patrol said her safeco client was the one who caused the collision (I have a dash cam).. she called my insurance and lied using what I told the highway patrol and said it was the safeco clients statement. the safeco client avoided calling and returning calls for over a month, I know this because the claims agent tawana smith told me that herself.

she's a dirty liar and needs to be fired.

SafeCo Auto insurance claim

Your claims reps have lied about trying to get ahold of your insured as well as my body shop. They say they can't get ahold of anyone, yet when I call they immediately answer.

They called me, raised their voice at me and THREATENED me that because they didn't like my shop's proposal they needed a new one and since they didn't get one immediately they would be stopping my rental. I have no control over what the shop does, additionally all the shops in Dallas are behind. I called around when I was first in my accidents and most shops had a 2 month waiting period to even have my Jeep looked at. My shop quoted over $20,000 in repairs as it needs a new frame. Your adjustor is trying to low ball for $13,000.

On top of it all, my brand new Jeep is now worthless.

Desired outcome: Pay out my full claim on a timely manner so my vehicle can be repaired along with diminished value.
