I was at store # 1431 representative Edgar. Horribly service he was mistaken and was yelling. He made a mistake while refunding and made me pay twice. This is one of the worst branches horrible service. He wouldn't let me speak to a manger he said he went home to sleep. He had the wrong sign up and a normal customer service would give with whatever price the sign is saying. It's not my fault that they don't go over and check for the signs. They aren't trained for customer service. Giant and Whole Foods they have a fantastic Customer service. But this store worst store ever
frisko store
While at the frisko safewsy store on monday 12.27.2017 in the seating area for in store statbucks a manager with the tag TOM began making veiled threats to a female hispanic employee in this public area making statements like if she knew anything about ehat happened and didn't day anythong she was going down with them the employee was clearly on her meal break at the time ehich he interuped a second time. When she asked what he had found he flatly daid he knew what he neefedto know and he wasn't telling her anything. Tom came across as middle manager on a power trip thst rnjoyed making employees fear for their jobs. This was something that should never occured on the employees lunch break or in public. Tom needs some leadship training and a reprimand.
Since you were simply a customer in this situation, you do not know the full story. If something against policy was done, it is the employee's responsibility to contact upper management or human resources.

response from manager
Every time I inquire about anything at the Safeway in Fountain Hills AZ the manager appears not to care. I inquired for years about a non-dairy ice cream and the response I received was " This is a small store we dont have the room" Of course they can have 50 different kinds of regular ice cream. Finally the provided one. Not a great one but finally one.
This store gets busy due to snow birds. We keep asking for self check-out lanes. I get response such as" It will never happen, It takes away jobs, we tried it before and it doesn't work" I have been a resident for 12 years and dont recall a self check out lane. I use this store only if I have to. I typically go else where. I just think the manager is unprofessional and doesnt really listen to what we ask for. I like to keep my monies in my town but other stores are more accommodating.
customer service
My family and I were at the ICU in kaiser on thanksgiving. We hadn't had anything to eat and everything was closed except Safeway. I decided to run to Safeway before it closed at 6pm to grab some sandwiches for my family. I arrived at the doors at 5:51pm and was turned down by an employee to go in. I explained my situation and he said he didn't care, that they were closed. They were still some customers inside. I shop at Safeway all the time. But with the "I don't care" attidude, my family and I will have to take our business else where. Very upset with how I was treated on thanksgiving, when it wasn't even 6pm yet.
delivery groceries
Nov 18 2007 grocery delivery. Two 6-packs of coke in glass bottles are smashed in bags. Driver doesn't check. I find out as coke drips through the bags on my hardwood floor and table. I hand him back the bags very peeved. I called to complain after waiting 45 mins on phone some [censor] says she will fix my account credit me for cokes and give me extra credit for my hardwood floor mess on my next order. Well this [censor] fraudulently charges my card a second time for the coke never crediting my card or my account for a future purchase. Ripped off twice for items these [censor] broke. Thanks.
disrespectful & unethical behaviour
On 11/23/17 at 2:30pm at the Safeway Store #1445 located on Alabama Ave SE, Washington, DC, I had a few last-minute items to purchase while waiting patiently in the long line, I notice that the manager Tish Sams had open the customer service register to help move the people out a little faster. There was a white gentleman who was in front of me which is rung his items up but when it came my turn she closed her line. I was frustrated & started to ask questions as to why would she open her line to only ring up that 1 person when it wasn't just me left in her line to close her register. I received a very rude, negative response with a disrespectful attitude. I was appalled that she was a manager with such a negative disposition. As I tried to have a decent professional conversation with Ms. Sams, the security officer #24692 walked to me very aggressive as if I was hostile or stealing out of the store. The officer began to speak wrongfully to me without knowing the situation and began to tell me that I can be barrowed out of the Safeway. I honestly don't understand how such a big company whose position is to assist/satisfy customers on a daily basis, have rude disrespectful workers, especially in a high traffic neighborhood & I shop at that location regularly. I would like this matter addressed & to see to it that both, the manager Tish Sams & the Officer #24692 get better customer service training or possibly not assist customers AT ALL!
I would recommend trying to contact Safeway's corporate customer service directly.
safeway.com grocery delivery
My wife and I ordered online, grocery delivery for between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM on Wed. Nov. 22. with the order #[protected]. As shown by the attached email below.
Safeway
Dear James Arthur,
Just a quick reminder that you have a delivery today.
Wednesday, 11/22/2017; 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm (Attended Delivery) Please be available to receive your groceries.
Order #: [protected]
Delivery Address: 23931 99th Ave S, Kent, WA 98031
I spoke with Paul, Store Manager for the Kent, WA store at about 12:30 PM who called and spoke to the Store Manager of the Downtown Renton, WA store where the fulfillment and delivery would be taking place from. I was assured by Paul and the Renton store manager that my sons delivery would take place and his groceries would be delivered as promised. That did not happen. There is more to this story but suffice to say that management at Safeway lied to us and breached our verbal contract not to mention that my son went without on Thanksgiving due to Safeway's inability to follow through with a promised delivery. A service that you provide and advertise.
case enclosed items
Went to my local Safeway on Webster in San Francisco and found an entire aisle, both sides, with all items behind locked glass doors. All I wanted was some hand-soap. There was a line of customers waiting hoping to get an employee to open the cases so they could buy something. OK, I understand there are problems with shoplifting but this is self-defeating. I just went home and ordered from Amazon. When it's easier to order items online rather than simply walking to my neighborhood store, I seriously question your marketing decisions.
gasoline
On November 21 I pumped gas at the country club Safeway in Stockton California and used my rewards to get the lower gas price. The pumped dhowed that my 20 cents had been processed but after I pumped I calculated that I had been charged an extra 10 above the posted price instead. I brought it up to the attendant and he agreed with me that I had been overcharged but was unable to resolve the issue. I therefore called the 800 number but thought you would like to know that these machines are overcharging all customers
management
Safeway management at the cordelia safeway is more concerned about denying patronage to the homeless than it is about providing service with a good attitude.
For several weeks the mostly female deli has been attempting non service to me for no reason other than the fact i'm a man and i'm assertive about getting my food made the way I want it... Instead of how they want to make it.
Last friday night, november 17th, at about 7:40 pm, I went to the deli and asked politely if I could get something... The individual who was there was one of the one's who has refused me service many times... Forcing someone else to serve me, or, forcing me to go the store manager to be served (I was told to do this by store manager denise when ever one of the deli workers refused me service because of all the lying the deli does in there quest for the power to refuse service).
That was the case friday night... The female deli worker forced me to find store manager (Megan, that particular night) who served me... Afterwards I needed a fork and the basket normally containing the forks was empty so knowing the forks were behind the deli I again went to megan to have her get me one... The pantry closet where megan had to go was adjacent to the area where the worker was. When megan went into the pantry I calmly asked that worker "what's the problem you have serving me anyway?'... She turned over her shoulder and said" [censor] off "!
My complaint is that after patronizing this store for several months I have observed and experience one undeserved humiliation after another from the deli department and the manager (Denise) is not open to receiving complaints against females and has been over-protective of several in the deli department who should have been fired as and example to the rest of the group (Three women, in particular ;... All in dis-honest collusion attempting to humiliate /not serve anyone acting assertive and critical... Especially a homeless man who does so)
The following mourning I went to denise (Not really expecting her, based on past experience with this issue, to be fair) to tell her about this and was met with her usual" I have the whole deli against you jeff! "no one wants to serve you!... Which is a lie since there are workers (Mostly men) who are not made" uncomfortable "by interacting with me.
While she was serving me all this crap she was calling other workers over to where we were talking... I was very upset already regarding what I view as an abuse of the" majority rules edict "which denise was following blindly... While trying to make my rebuttal which basically was" it doesn't matter that they are a majority... If they're lying about something they're wrong and should be fired ".. A worker should especially be fired for saying" [censor] you " to a customer.
And, most importantly, a manager protecting the character of such a worker should be fired.
safeway select pepperoni pizza
I bought a pizza after work for dinner, it was Safeway select brand and we got the pepperoni with the food fire grilled crust and when we got home and we opened the package it only had 7 pepperoni, it was not even enough to cover half of the pizza. I am extremely disappointed that I spent my money on basically a cheese pizza, and I am not buying this brand again.
I'm sure it would look better if you just reorganized the pepperoni. However what you can do is return the pizza along with your receipt to the store of purchase for a replacement or refund.
bakery department
On Monday November 13 I placed and order a birthday cake. It was a 1/2 sheet and I also requested whipped cream, I specifically stated that I didn't want butter cream. On Saturday November 18 I went to pick up the cake and it was a 1/4 of a sheet, i asked the lady is this a a half sheet and she said no that she made a mistake and she will do another one that i needed to wait 15 minutes, finally when I got the cake it was the right size but it was this butter cream . She RUINED my son birthday since he hates butter cream..
customer service
Our town safeway was sold recently to...? Before this sale customers were treated as if we mattered, especially with checkout. If the line was longer than four people a cashier would call for another cashier. Now, 80% of the time I go in, the lines are 10, 15, even 18 people long. When I go into the manager's office to ask for another cashier he is either playing on his hand held computer or looks up at the clock to tell me someone will be in in a half hour. Really? One day corporate was there and all employees but one cashier was up front - line was 18 people long. When I asked her to call another cashier she said, "corporate is here, everyone is in the back with them." I replied, "So, call them and remind them without customers there is no corporate!" Just because this store has a lot of tourist doesn't mean it should treat the locals badly. So many of us already go to Flagstaff to shop there, now you're losing even more customers/money. I am submitting this complaint for others also. Hope something is done as we have other options in this town. Safeway WAS a friendly helpful hometown place to shop, now even popular products have vanished. We are forced to buy large quantities - ridiculously huge - in order to get a good deal. Really? Who needs to buy 30lbs. of meat to save ten bucks? Your store is bordering on ridiculous. In this town, many businesses come and many businesses go...depending on how us locals are treated. That's a fact.
deli
This isn't the first time this has happened to me, and it has happened at multiple locations. But this evening the degree of disgusting was much higher than usual.
I ordered a pound of potato wedges. I opened them 10 minutes later when I got home and then we're hours past when they could have been sold. Half of them were black, they were dried up so bad they were shriveled. There wasn't anything in there to salvage. I'm top of that I found to long black hairs in my bag. I had attempted to eat them, before finding the hairs, and they were so gross.
While I was there I watched one of the glass panes on the Chinese food fall in and when the employee corrected it several minutes later he reached in without any gloves and separated the food from the pane. It was pretty gross. I feel like I wasted time and money when I could have gone elsewhere.
Safeway management in Fairfield, California police's the homeless more than they do their employees !
Safeway management( mostly female ), based on my observances, is too Anarchistic to really exercise the type control over subordinates they should ...I was told to " [censor] of " by a female employee who was using the false threat label to justify non-service...Then the female management essentially told me same thing when I went in the next day to complain ...which I think too many female managers don't even respect a man's right to do !
starbucks
The girl working the Starbucks is disabled and should not be left alone, she was not trained enough to handle her job alone. because of her disability she was really slow and her constant mistakes made everyone in line unhappy with there service. Two of the people waiting went to the customer service desk to see if they could get her help cause they were tired of waiting so long for there drink. They told them that help would come soon but in the 30 min. it took me to get my drink help never came. This Safeway is not great at customer service when they get busy. Junction city Oregon needs a better store as this is our only store in town.
o organics brown rice bowl
Label printed on side of bowl reads, "Best Before Aug [protected]:38C". The label on the bowl said it was a fully cooked product. Thus, working late, I didn't bother to microwave it. When I got to the bottom of the bowl, I saw flakes of what appeared to be plastic in the bottom. Thinking they might have been from the adhesive holding the lid closed, I looked closer. What I found was that the flakes were coming off of the inner walls of the bowl itself. I cannot say exactly what the flakes are, but managed to scrape enough off for a photo. If the rice is cooked in the bowl, the flakes could just as easily be starch as they could be plastic. In either case, I will not be eating this product again until I have a definitive answer as to what it is.
delivery failure and insane wait times for support
I spent well over 90 minutes on hold on two seperate calls to Safeway support. The first to set up delivery for my elderly mother, tech support should be seperate from general delivery. Email addresses are not forever and changing a password should not take 50 minutes wait time. That is the least of it. More than half her grocercies did not arrive the next day, yet they took the money! None of her frozen food arrived. What if I had not carefully gone over the list item by item on the phone with her? That would be theft, Safeway stealing from customers. 55 minutes later after waiting on hold the call center person tells me the wait times have been going on for weeks now due to problems with a new system being implemented in California. So many layers of failure I see here... first and foremost they have zero leadership abilities to solve problems. IT buyers clearly made lousy choices in technology solutions/vendor coupled with inability to properly test before roll out. People need to be fired. I had 15+ year career in tech working for industry analyst firms, I know of what I speak. No excuse for these system wide failures. It gets worse, instead of using common sense and human capital to solve the problem and get my hungry elderly mother her much needed groceries, Saturday when they were supposed to be delivered early afternoon, I was told soonest they could be delivered was Monday night between 5-9 pm. That is apparently how the 'system' works. Unacceptable! This is what is considered adequate problem solving for screwups on their end? It demonstrates such low priority for customers, and 'Who gives a [censor]' mentality. Zeitgeist of our times from corp America! They deserve to be sued to hell and back for this complete disregard for customers, and stupudity. That no one can pull their heads out of their [censor] to solve this because the 'system' is so rigid and [censor] up. We still have brains, there was a list of what was missing, hire drivers work overtime go to the local safeway and fill the order the old fashion way. Lesson in history 'investing in new systems' before she retired the small business my mother worked for invested in a new system-they foolishly chose Oracle over another competitor's better suited solution beacuase the [censor] higher ups too far removed from daily functions fell for the BS the slimy Oracle rep was selling. It ultimately bankrupted the company two years later. The decision makers too far removed from the daily business were told by key employees who were part of the evaluation team it would not work. As usual [censor] promoted beyond their competence fell for the slick lies told by a sales team. 1: heads should roll on this implementation; Safeway needs to hold internal and external parties /stakeholders accountable ie employees, Officers and Vendors. 2: they should compensate customers and start making sure every wrong order is fixed same day no matter what it takes. If they can't do that shut down delivery, or warn customers that the liklihood of an order screw up is better than 50/50. Show some integrity. I would love for this story to get mainstream business/consumer news coverage. This is another case study of failure on so many levels in the making. My Mom lives in an elderly community. How many there must rely on grocery delivery? Weeks this has been going on... longer maybe?
cashier
It is not my custom to file a compliant, yet the more I thought about it was extremely rude of a cashier that served me. The incident occurred 11/4/2017 at Safeway NE 112th Ave, Vancouver WA 98682
As I was receiving my grocery stub the cashier read my name off as in correct, I gave the cashier the correct pronunciation and HE had the Gaul to correct me and told me how to spell my name. He was rude and disrespectful of a customer and insulting to say the lease.
The cashier that day, name on stub is JOHN
The store manager is/was Jeff Houston.

safeway customer assaulted while shopping
I have shopped at Safeway located on 4th Street SW Washington DC since 1993.
I am an eighty year old, visually impaired, frail man and was brutally assaulted by a Safeway employee on October 10 of this year. The employee was working as a security guard and attacked me causing a broken arm, five broken ribs, a concussion and several lacerations and bruises on my head, legs and arms. I was left bleeding on the Safeway floor until police and emergency services arrived. The police said it was a "misunderstanding " by the Safeway employee.
Regardless of the reason for the assault, it is inexcusable for a blind, 80 year old, frail man to be savagely assaulted while shopping at Safeway.
I would suggest shoppers find an alternative grocery store in Southwest Washington DC. Shopping at Safeway there could be dangerous.
What was this misunderstanding?
Don't know, police refuse to provide info other than the individuals name.
