worst costumer service
My situation was that I got the buy 2 get two free chips from safeway. and when the cashier was scanning my chips, I asked her were these chips buy 2 get 2 free, she said sure. but when i got my receipt, I found that she charged me all 4 chips and forgot to scan my yogurt. I went back to ask her, so she refund all the money for the 4 chips and told me went back to get the right one. and for the yogurt, she said it was her problem because I placed it in a corner she couldnt see, and I didnt mention it to her. so I got my chips and lined up again, when I was going to pay, I could not find my club card. so I paid all 4 chips again and another cashier told me i could go back tomorrow and get money back. so when i was going to leave, i found my club card was right on the cashier's (the one who refund all my money) station. I asked my card bac from her. and there were no apologies at all. what a terrible person.
and one thing i have to say is that I can not find costumer service at safeway's website.

Safeway is currently scamming money out of shoppers with the donation drives. They set goals for each store and then relentlessly ask shoppers to give over and over again. They are telemarketing while you shop. This makes them looks worldly good when it comes to their totals at the end of their campaign. Checkers are chastized for not making goals. They have charts that keep track of their daily donations; they are reprimanded when these goals are not made. If you shop the same store three times in one day, and have the same checker, and tell them "no" once. They are required to ask you again. If they don't they can be written up for violating company policy and terminated. Please give to those charities; but do not give through Safeway.

So, I walk into safeway like an average day. Buy a water and go back into one of the isles to check if they have something on sale. They don't so I walk out. On my way to my truck two gentlemen stop me and tell me to go back in and pay for the water I just stole. I go from a great mood to PISSED the ### off. So I go back in and ask the clerk and he says that I paid for it. What the ### dude!

This is no small matter. warfarin is a dangerous drug. when dispensing this drug there is no margin for error, my mom's prescription from the doctor specifically stated one tablet per day, when we picked up the prescription it specifically stated two per day. That is two times the amount she's supposed to have. When I called to speak to the pharmacist he said he would call me back he did not have an answer, I'm still waiting for the phone call. the mis information on the labeling is not only dangerous it is grounds for a lawsuit.

Walk into safeway went to the coinmaster but its out of service, i excuse myself for interupting a non-work related conversation between the clerks at customer service and asked if she would cash in 3 dollars in pennies and some quarters nickels and dimes equaling to about 7 bucks, she makes a face and says im not spending all day counting that...well i had already counted it and it took less than 4 minutes for me...no one else was in line, and i was spending the money in their store anyways so i dont understood why this lady would want to embarras me when i was with my daughter. Its not like they were even working. And what topped it off for me was my husband had the car and my purse at work, i would of loved to pay cash and to have not walked the 10 blocks to get there in 85 degree weather but not all us get what we want, like good service from safeway!

I am writing to complain about the safeway customer service at the store on East Dunne avenue in Morgan Hill. The clerks act like they are doing you a favor to help you. They are rude, un-friendly, and really unahppy it seems. I have talked to neighbors and others and they agree they have had the same experiance there. The 2 employeess that are the rudest are Connie and Cynthia...they are very unfriendly and seem to forget who the customer is. Avoid this store at all costs!

I have been a loyal customer of a Safeway store (7375 Arapahoe Rd.
Englewood, CO 80112) near by my home from past nearly
2 yrs and I always do most of my grocery shopping in that store. Most of
the store managers and staff members know me and my kid who I take to store most
of the time when I go shopping. Following is an incident happened to me last Tuesday (i. e., 01/25/2011)
evening when I went to do routine weekly grocery shopping in the same store.
I did checked out from store and on my way towards my car. A Sheriff officer approached me
asked whetheri cashed any money order at that store. I said 'NO'. He asked me to
come inside the store with him. I was confused on whats going on and thought
to be quite and see what he has to say inside the stoe and I just followed him. Sheriff took me inside the store manager room. The minute I walked I saw store mgr
and I said HI. She said 'Do you have a Kid'. I replied 'YES and u know me and my kid
we offen come here'. She asked ' How old is the kid'. I replied 'She is 4'.
Mgr - ' Did you cash any money order here last week'
Me - ' No and I always come here only for grocery shopping'
Mgr-' We are pretty sure its you who had cashed MO and we can see you in the surveillance camera video you are there with your kid. Clerk also says its you'
Me - ' Hell NO I was there at the store last Thursday some time in the evening and buyed grocery and a Mega million ticket. I can give the exact time when I check my store receipt which is at home'.
Sheriff - ' Can you please follow me outside'
He took me near his car and said the following -
Sheriff - ' We mite arrest you once they confirm its you'
Me - ' What! just a clerk says its me. Just because the person in the video is with a kid and I always come here with the kid, that doesn't mean that I did it. I am in the store that evening earlier when you say the incident happened why don't you guys just check me in the video and compare the both. Its just that simple'.
Sheriff - ' We have to just believe what store mgr had to say and I am talking to the investigating officer who is dealing the case'.
Meanwhile a lady later I known she is the district mgr for safeway stores came and
she was talking to the Sheriff, store Mgr and Clerk and she keeps looking at me
as if a criminal, in a discriminating way and started taking pictures or video of me
from her blackberry phone without asking my permission. After few mins Sheriff came to me
and said the following :
' We let you go now as we have your ID with us and case still is open and Investigating officer
will contact you'.
Me - ' What is all this you are treating me like a criminal and I have been standing here
in the store from past 1 hr with cops around me. I haven't anything wrong. Just because
clerk belives and district manager belives that its me, you have no right do this to me like this'.
Sheriff - ' This is the case no and my card. We will continue to follow up on this. You may
now leave the store'.
I came home so depressed, shocking and disppointed the way store behaved me after all being
a good customer of them from these many yrs. I know they have the right to protect their money
but this not the way to handle with a customer who they see in the store every other day.
I called the Investigating officer next day and he explained me the following :
' Someone on Thurday 21st of Jan'2011 came to the store sometime around 6:40 P. M and did cashed
some third party fake Money orders which are close to $900. The store clerk belives that's you
and district mgr who saw the video says it's definetly you. We will continue to investigate
on this'.
Me - ' I went to the store the same day to buy some groceries and I checked the store receipt yesterday
and saw its around 5:30 P. M. I came home after that and went to fitness center inside the apartment complex.
I contacted the Apt management and they said they have the video which shows you are in the fitness center
during the time of incident happened in Safeway. I asked them to make a copy of it. Would you like to come
to my apt and have a look?
Officer - ' Yes I will contact the apt mgt and will have a look on it'.
He later went to the apartment mgt office and took pictures of the surveilliance camera video which shows the time
and me inside the fitness center while the incident happened at Safeway store.
After couple of days officer called me and asked to come to his office and give the finger prints so that
they can verify the finger prints on the Money order. I went the next day morning and gave the finger prints.
He showed me the pictures from the store video camera and the video is not even clear and the person
in the video no where looks close to me. The kid they were talking about is a small baby and all this time i
told them my kid is a 4 yrs old.
Finally yesterday the officer called me and said the finger prints didn't match with that they found on the
moneyorder and as you have the proof that you are not in the store while the incident happened I will strick off
your name from this case.
After all I am off this whole incident but why the store have to make me go through all of this. For one week
I couldn't sleep properly thinking of my family what will happen to them, why I was dragged into this.
Just because I belong to a different ethic they can't treat me like this. Its totally a discriminating way the store
people behaved. They didn't even call me to appolozise on this incident.
You should be ashamed having your corporate office in the same city and having such a rediculous district and store managers
who doesn't know how to behave with a customer. I will definetly take my story to every possible person in this community,
so that they are aware if they shop at your store as you can just drag anyone into the situation I had faced.

your claim was valid until race was brought into the picture. whatever ethnicity was in the vid, sadly you matched. there was no racial discrimination there. if a white woman cashed the money order and thry detained you, then i could see why the race card was used, i would have asked to see the video upon being detained for questioning, but you may have a case for lost wages and time if you choose to go in that direction, did you contact headquarters?

When I went to Vacaville they told me that they couldn't sell me pork buns frozen, and that wasn't store policy and that the Safeway in Fairfield shouldn't be selling them frozen either.

I am sending this e-mail in the hope of getting the attention of shareholders that manage customer relations for Canada Safeway. My relatives and friends and I live in the northeast section of Edmonton Alberta. We usually deal with the store located on 118 Avenue and 34 street.
We have been "ripped off" so many times from this store. Items that are marked down or advertised at a discounted price are "charged at the normal price" frequently. We try to check our receipts while we are in the store but the counters are usually very busy and the clerk and customers behind us "are not very happy to be kept waiting" so we check the receipt in our vehicle or at home. When the clerk is shown the error, we are then treated "as an irritating customer". How is that for "customer service"? On my most recent visit (and I go to this store only because it is very close to my place of residence) I watched the clerk input or scan my groceries. I had several items that were marked 50% off. I knew things were not being done right as the clerk seemed confused and rescanned alot of items because the 50% discount was not being applied. There was a big line up behind me so I paid for the groceries and stepped aside to review my receipt. When reviewed I noticed that I was charged for more items than I purchased (scanned through too many times) and the 50% discount was not applied to all discounted items. Fortunately another clerk noticed my distress and came to assist me. I am on a very LIMITED budget and cannot afford these kind of mistakes. There was almost $18 worth of mistakes!
Most of the time the counters are very busy and people are not happy to wait while you check your receipt at the till so we check the receipt in the vehicle or at home. I have noticed errors quite a few times but have not gone back to the store. I also wanted to mention the way your "Rewards" card shows the discounts is very confusing. It should have the discount beside the item being discounted not at the end of the receipt. It is hard to connect which items are being discounted and whether the discount has been applied at all. With all the technology at hand and the amount of $$ Safeway makes - I'm sure you can offer your customers a better rewards cared than this !
As your customer service is very bad, I don't expect too much from this e-mail. It would be nice to at least know that you have received it and acknowledge the message herein. As of this date, my friends, my daughter and I will no longer shop at the northeast Edmonton store. We do have a Sobeys just a bit further down the road. A bit inconvenient but better "customer service".

I agree to an extent. This sounds more like poor employee training or (even) abuse. Safeway is known to treat their employees really bad so it is very hard to have end up with someone with experience AND with good pre-disposition. This definitely lies in the costumer service field. Remember, bad leadership comes from a bad leader and you should really be looking higher than the clerk.
People are too quick to judge the clerk but he is being underpaid and overworked. Which brings me to my first point.
Time cards are actually kept on file for years just request to look at it

I purchase groceries for my elderly father online since I live in a different state. It seems when you order groceries & pay for them online you are NOT entitled to a receipt of what is sent or what you have paid for. If you would like a copy of their ONLINE service you must put it in writing for each purchase and mail it to their customer service. I do not understand how it can be considered a online service when the only service you can get is by mail. The only answer you get from customer dis-service is "our legal department needs a written signed copy to send you information on what you paid for." Excuse me! My time, my money, and now my postage, paper, and irritation. Defiantly Safeway DIS-SERVICE.

I have been abused twice by the women working in the self check out and feel no one care's enough to listen .I was changing from a Cart to a basket heather rushed over and pushed me aside grabbed and open my pursue and told me to leave the store, while contining to squeeze my arm.. We are not insured with safeway. our car got hit by a person insured by this company. it happended on the huge empty parking-there were only few cars in it. our car was parked and the driver from the other car got out and left the car running-apparantly on d, because according to 2 witnesses the car started to roll slowly right away. We've made a claim, Couple days later I got a call from Safewaysaying that the claim is deniad. Reason? "there was no driver in the car, the wind must have pushed the car into your car, so we are not responsible".
I was trying to explain her that this IS A CAR- not a sailing boat, but the lady with a really bad attitude told me it is not their problem. Anybody knows who insures the wind?:)

TERRIBLE customer service! It's more accurate to say there isn't any customer service
Blonde cashier named "Heidi" is the worst human being I have ever met and that is saying a lot. She obviously hates her job and takes it out on the customers. From the sound of her voice, it sounds like she's unhappy with her skin tone too. When I asked her why she was being so rude, she said she wasn't and then started throwing my baby's glass baby food jars across the counter. Feeding shards of glass to an infant is worth making a point, I guess.
When I spoke to the manager, "Diana", she backed up her employee. What kind of world are we living in? In this economy, so many well deserving people would love that job! Stay away!
Just so you know.. and I'm not saying how they handled the situation was correct, I'm only saying that they are required to match ID's with your ATM/Credit cards when purchasing any gift card. I work for Safeway and there are some employees who do not follow those rules which most likely explains why when you went to another store you were not asked for your ID. I bet that if you had even gone to another checkers line there would have been a high chance they would not have even asked for it. So although it's not right that it isn't consistent, it's the truth. I had no idea we had to check them when I first started working there. It wasn't until a new assistant manager alerted me to this, that I started asking on every gift card purchase with a card.
If the name doesn't match the card, we don't sell. And yes, even after you enter your pin number, we can still cancel the order.
Your precious children will be fine. They inhale more toxic exhaust fumes walking from your car to go into a store or by riding a school bus. You should be more concerned that you don't raise a couple of powder puffs who will have zero coping skills as adults because their mommy couldn't even handle them walking through a puff of cigarette smoke. And I am not even a smoker but think parents who are overly sensitive and protective do more harm than good for their children.
I knew when the smokers would get forced out into the public eye that the "nons" would pay more attn than they did when we were all in the same room together and it was legal. I wonder how many people of the past many many years from sitting in a bar, shopping, eating out or visiting a friends house with smoke all around them are dead now from it(?). As over populated as we are with older folks these days my guess would be not to many, if any at all.
I miss the good old days.
