Auto loan fees and interest charges
I had an auto loan with santander. My interest was 27%. After three years of making payments on a 5 year loan my son was in an no fault accident. The insurance company declared it a total loss. Even though the vehicle could have been fixed or even parted out. We still owed santander. After contacting them about the possibility of keeping the vehicle they told us no. They had somebody come tow the vehicle without leaving any paperwork. Then they tried to tell us our payoff was more than we bought the vehicle for. I also believe that they sold the vehicle at auction but never credited any money to our balance for the sell. They are a rip off charging ridiculous fees and interest. You will never get your vehicle paid off with them.

Repossessed my car after court ruling
After CT superior court ruling, (5/19/2020) Santander reached out to me to settle my debt with them.(5/28/2020) Unbeknownst to me was this class action lawsuit.
They gave me a deal of 4 payments or $1373.00 a month for 4 months. I am on unemployment ( due to Covid) and was never asked any questions of my income.
They just repossessed my car now and said I must pay 16, 100$ plus fees to get it back.
Original loan was for $12, 000. This was in 8/2013.
I have until 10/16 to figure this out or the car will get sold at auction. Who is responsible for holding them accountable to these court stipulations ? It states clearly that they cannot repossess. They had no right to repo my car ... the courts deemed this, or am I mistaken? It also states they must follow a model to decide if they can agree to payments with you. They didn't do this. The court put these stipulations in play and they still are continuing to scam ppl. The repo guy actually told me "funny, now I know why I am picking up so many cars for them lately!" Something must be done to stop these ppl, ASAP! Please let me know what to do from here.

My Name is Austin Roys my car was repoed on 9/13/2022 and i asked to be given a chance to pay my past due balance in full and to receive my car back . then person I spoke with was very rude and 79706 was there ID number . Im only 22 i bought my car in oct of 2021 and had covid twice through all this . Finally got better and started catching up making 1000.00 pymt that went all to intrest how does that work . I feel you are unjust and now have ruined my credit your workers are rude and complete liars . I hope you have to close because your difently not a company with any core value or care about your custmers .
My vehicle was repossessed and sold without any of the legally required documentation being sent to me post repossession by the repo agency nor by Santander. They have reported different balances owed to different credit bureaus, charged multiple "misc. fees" to me post charge off and when asked the have to answer as to what the fees are. They are currently illegally calling me to to attempt to collect a deficiency balance that, due to their own actions, they have no legal claim to. Now I have to take the time to pursue legal recourse just to get this whole situation corrected, mainly my credit straightened out. How is it that this company has and continues to violate so many laws which harms its consumers is still in business ?
Hey Tkame! This definitely isn't the experience we want for any of our customers and we'll be more than happy to have someone look into this for you. Please give us a call at 888-222-4227. ^CR
I have had six (to date) recorded phone calls that I have initiated with Santander, all of which have lasted over 30 min. and all containing the same basic information. My address is verified at least twice, I am assured that 4 separate attempts have been made to send me these documents. Although, one of your reps. did actually state that the first two attempts were sent to a wrong address so I have repeatedly asked for COPIES OF THOSE ORIGINAL LETTERS be sent to me or even emailed to me. I am told they can't email me a copy for whatever reason but they guarantee they have been sent. Still I have received nothing. The last call that I had with your company, I was transferred to someone that I was told would definitely get this resolved and despite that persons personal guarantee, I have received NO LETTERS. What I did receive however, is an email with the breakdown of when all of my payments have been made and what the remaining balance on the account was. I AM QUITE POSITIVE THAT YOU ARE AWARE that a balance sheet is hardly the acceptable documentation that you ARE REQUIRED BY LAW to furnish me with and that until you have done so it is illegal for you to attempt to collect a deficiency and also to report negative, and in fact, inaccurate information to any CRA. And as if to add insult to injury, you have now changed the closing date on this loan to NOV. 20201 when it was defaulted on in September of 2019 and charged off 1-1-20. That means, if left as it is, will remain on my credit almost two years longer than it would have, had you followed the law. My experience is not unique to Santander, I realize, as there are numerous stories just like mine posted all over, so while I appreciate you responding to my post, I would much rather have some accurate action take place and not be asked to waste more of my time on unnecessary phone calls. In the meantime, thanks to your companies failure to uphold its legal obligations and adhere to the recent consent order filed against you by the CFPB, I am unabe to rent a home for my son and myself. My credit score has been decreased by almost 100 points. I am left with not option than try to resolve this issue by other means. Thank you
Rip off scam artist
My ex-husband and I purchased a vehicle through Santander Consumer USA in 2010. He wanted his vehicle so bad that I gave in to the 24% interest rate. We separated in 2016, and unbeknownst to me he stop paying on the vehicle once I file for divorced. Fast forward, I decided to purchase a home using my VA Loan privileges. Can't move forward because Santander has his vehicle in charge-off status. I tried getting them to go and repossess the vehicle. They told me the loan had aged out. But they are willing to negotiate with me for $3500, but the charge off is showing $7, 246. There's not a snoball chance in hell that I will pay them a dime. I paid my vehicle off, I will not pay off a vehicle that my ex-husband in driving. I also indicated to them that my state was part of the 34 States that Santander settled with in May of 2020. However, they will give you the run around and say to contact your State AG Office. My State AG office States per the settlement agreement, Santander is legally responsible for contacting the three credit bureaus. I've sent the entire legal 25 page documents to all three credit bureaus. Transunion and Experian have closed them out, however, I'm catching the blues with Equifax. I just want Santander Consumer USA to live us to their part in the Final Judgement and clear up my credit report so I can finally enjoy one of my military entitlements.

Refund
The company is just a complete scam! I canceled my Gap insurance 1 year after I purchased a vehicle, and went with another company who had better rates. Santander received a credit statement and had to write me a check or issue a statement credit, but they just stole $500 from me, making me pay interest on them for another 3 years. When my car was paid off, they sent me a $27 check for unused Gap. All my attempts to prove that it was canceled in 2017 failed, they even ignored a letter from my Gap company confirming the cancelation.

Refuse to remove my online bank account
I have requested my online bank account be removed from their site for 2 weeks. I keep getting the runaround and nothing but lies and they REFUSE to remove it. I have talked with several managers, including Tarrick. They keep telling me the account is closed, but it appears. They LIE. They LIE. They LIE.
I have followed every one of their "protocols" to remove the account and it continues to be there.
This is illegal - i am seeking action against them

Rip offs, interest rates, harassment, rude customer service.
I bought my car at $12439.65. They doubled the payoff price making it $27909.92. Ive been making payments for almost two years and only $600 has went towards the principle. They agreed to give me an extension during covid since I lost my job, but they called and harrassed me everyday saying I was behind, reported to the credit bureuas that I was 60 days behind. We have called and asked about the payment plan that they keep offering me, but they refuse to work with me.

Auto financing for a 2019 honda civic sport car / monthly payments too high /payments I make not going to principal and completely going to interest
I made a payment for my car on aug 15th 2020 $2130.79 the majority of the $ went to interest $2094.77 and $1.09 went to principal. Onmay 27th I made a payment of $698.62 it all went to interest nothing to principal, on march 12, 2020 I made a payment of $348.62 it all went to interest nothing to principal, on march 5, 2020 I made my very 1 st payment of $350.00 it all went to interest. Two payments for a car and the balance of $25, 995.92 stayed the same and changed to $25, 994.83 in august 15th 2020, after 3 or 4 payments my balance shows I paid $1.09 toward the balance of my account april 13 2020 my balance $25, 995.92 may 27th my balance $25, 995.92 made payment $698.62 balance still $25, 995.92 july 23, 2020 they charged me a late fee $34.93 when they said I didnt have to make a payment til june because of the pandemic covid 19. Aug 15th 2020 I make a payment of $2130.79 balance $shows $25, 994.83 after I make a payment $1400 aug 16th 2020 and $1400 aug 17th 2020 balance shows $23, 228.66. Now they are saying sept 1st 2020that there are no payments in the selected date range of sept 2019 to sept 1st 2020 so after $6328.03 of payments my balance is $23, 228.66 I wanted to get ahead of my payments before I run out of money but this seems very disrespectful of santander consumer usa and I dont know what to do by the time I pay for this car I could of bought a house the car will cost me $50, 000 or more the way the math is going here. I really dont feel I should pay them any more money when it took 6 payments equaling $6328.03 to make a balance of $25, 995 to be $23, 228.66 this really feels like a no win situation I paid a lot of $ into santander consumer usa and they make it look as if I only made 4 car payments of $698.62 when really I would be paid til february 2021 with the $ I paid.

Unethical behavior
I purchase my Toyota Tacoma new in 2014 it was 2015 Toyota Tacoma did not know where they were finance it till I pick it up. Had to be out work after 2 months found out no insurance to help with payment I sign paper to have it. Somehow Santander didn't have them. They repo my truck when I was 2 payment behind would not work with me. After they repo it I called them I had to pay over 5000 dollars to get it back. So I did because of my credit. After paying them I was told to go pick it up in Kingsport Tn got there Santander had send a man to drive my truck to Nashville at the Auction. When there it was to be auction off that day. After about 3 hrs waiting to Santander got it straight out got my truck back. After a while decide to trade my truck, and found out they did a charge-off on it could not get a hold of them by phone. or mail or certified no reply. In June 2, 2020 they repo my truck again I told the guy when he came to pick it up it was in accident and not fix yet. They send me a letter in 10 days, in the mean time they had already send my truck to Nashville to auction it off in 3 days. It sold the day they told it down there. Now they want me to pay them 15000 more dollars. Please help me get something back for the headaches, heartache, and most of all finance. need help ASAP. If you need any information please contact me At - [protected]@gmail.com I will supply you what you need if you can help me I have never deal with noone like Santander before. I used to trade vechicle every year never had to deal with anyone like this I would really appreciate if you could get me on there lawsuit or let me know who can. Thanks!
Automotive loan
On 11/21/2015, Santander approved me for a car loan with 25% interest. The dealership never verified my income before allowing me to leave with the car.
I have paid 81 payments of $831.00 and I still owe $27, 000 on a car that is now only worth $2500.
I have repeatedly asked Santander to work with me in lowering this interest and re modifying the loan. I was close to repossession this month but recently set up a payment to keep it out of foreclosure.
I can provide copies of my credit reports with all sufficient dates and payment history for past 5 years.
I am requesting:
1. The remaining balance of my loan be forgiven.
2. All negative credit reporting be removed from my payment history.
I would like to resolve this issue as soon as possible.
Please advise

Auto loan
I purchased an Auto through Santander in 2018. It was a 2015 Honda Accord with 27k miles. I was in a sticky situation as a single mother and needed transportation for work and to get my kids to school and to their appointments. I obtained a loan through consumer Santander for 15k and some change. To date, my balanced owed has not waived much below the 15k...

Santander, through its use of sophisticated credit scoring models to forecast default risk, knew that certain segments of its population were predicted to have a high likelihood of default. Santander exposed me to unnecessarily high levels of risk through high loan-to-value ratios, significant backend fees, and high payment-to-income ratios. They are telling me I still owe over $20,850, and my loan rate is 23.67%
Rip off
I've had my car loan since Dec. 2015 I have a 2015 Nissan Altima and they have overcharged me indefinitely. I've paid a total 25k and now they're telling me I owe another 14k. What that's almost 40k for a 2015 Nissan Altima I've made all my payments every month for the past 5 yrs. I just spoke with them today 8/17/2020 and asked them to send me over the documents to support why my interest and loan have increased, I have yet to receive them.
Class action lawsuit
It's my understanding a settlement has been reach in the multi-state class action lawsuit; I would like to know when will the consumer see some relief. I continue to check the website but nothing has changed since it was posted back in May 2020. Is there anything I can do to speed this process along? How much time is reasonable for Santander to comply. I am struggling to pay my car note with this unreasonably high daily interest rate.
Santander also made my credit bad because they made it hard to pay this car loan off and so it had to be repossess.
My name is Linda Hunt got a 2013 highlander I paid 10.000 and they trying to say I owe 10.000 more dollar I want to be in on the class action lawsuit I can be reach at lindahunt461@gmail.com
High interest rates, harassment
I have a vehicle financed through Santander Consumer USA. Worst company ever. My interest rate is 22.18%. Only 2 cents of my payment is going towards the principal. I sent a debt validation letter to them regarding the lawsuit thats going on right now. The only thing I have received is a email with my payment history. This place is a scam and a joke. I want my loan forgave and I want to keep my car.
My interest is 22.18%. Only 2 cents is going towards the principal. I have sent a debt validation letter and the only thing I have received was my payment history, by email. I want this resolved quick. They keep calling and harassing me. This company is a rip off.
Mishandling of auto loan, billing and website issues, consumer harassment.
I went in 1/21/2017 and got a 2014 Honda Civic the price on the car was 14, 099 and just for coming in lithia nissan took a 1, 000 off bringing the total to 13, 099 lithia Nissan took off 2, 000 off the car bring the total down to 12, 099 and I bring in 4, 000 for a down payment bring the total down to 8, 099. They repo my Honda Civic Feb. 12 2019 and said that I only made one payment the whole time I had the car, they also said that the payments I was giving them were towards the interest. The tow company they used to repo my car followed us downtown to city hall, once I went into the place I was going the tow truck people came made my 12 year old daughter get out the car left her sitting in the rain by herself. From they the tow yard stoled my stuff out of the car and give me back stuff at less value. The sent a letter stating I owe more then what I went in to purchase the car for in the first place.
Illegal practices / consumer harassment / mishandling of purchased auto loan
Your company knew that my credit was not great and you intentionally put me into a high interest loan and you knew I had a good chance of defaulting on my loan to begin with. Then when I am late making a payment the harassment calls just comes all day beginning at 8:00am until 9:00pm. I am no longer able to keep this car and will be returning it. Also as soon as I make a payment you turn around and add another payment to my account. I'm glad that you are getting sued because you deserve it what you did was wrong to me and other consumers.
