I am 70 years old and on a fixed income I don't have money to buy a new tv, please let me know what I can do about this tv. Like I said it is a sceptre e555bvfmqr 55 1080p 60hz class led hdtv! 50 inch tv
Just purchased the 50". I also have a 42" and a 32". I moved the 42" from our living room to make room for the 50". It is connected to our cable dvr box. The complaint that I have is that the volume changes dramatically when changing channels and when commercials come on. And I mean changes! The volume goes up so far that you have to use the remote to decrease the volume so as not to hurt your ears! This is ridiculous! My 42" that was previously in the living room connected to the cable dvr box made only slight volume changes when commercials came on, but you could tolerate it without constantly using the remote to decrease the sound. Then when the commercial is over and the program returns, you have to again use the remote in order to hear the program... What is up? Very unhappy about this. Linda
dont no how to set up sound bar very hard to set up they wanted 5 dollars to help to set up surprise surprise out the door it yours to figure out
my tv goes blank after 40 to50 minuties but i have sound am using a samsung blue ray player for netflix, hulu but i still can play movies the blue ray people said it was a tv issue the tv people said it was blue ray issue please help this is driving me crasy thanks julia
Model X32 series
After owning this tv for less than 1 year, the tv wouldn't turn out without doing the "reset" process. After several attempts it would turn on. After it was on, the only way to turn it off was to pull the power plug. Because it was just under the 1 year warrant I was able to send back the tv and they replaced it. But it was replaced with a tv with the exact same problem. After owning the 2nd tv for the exact amount of time, as the first, the tv once again failed. When I asked what my options were, they said the warranty has expired and they can not help. Because I forgot the "reset sequence", I emailed them asking them for the sequence to turn it on. I also asked for a schematic because i, being fairly knowledgeable with electronics, new it was a power supply problem (Later verified by several tv repair technicians). They once again replied that my warranty has expired and there is nothing they can do. I emailed again asking for just the schematic of the power supply and they did not reply. I emailed again, asking for a source to get the tv parts or get it repaired. They did not reply. After checking on google and reading how "cheaply" this tv was made, I found several places that know of the problem and will send parts (Cheap junk power supply capacitors in particular are the main problem). Sceptre is a terrible company and makes a terrible product and offer no support!
32 inch television
Purchased television for my mother in november 2013 and stored it for later use. Pulled it out today and it doesn't even turn on at this point and probably never did.. Called sceptre and there is nothing they can do. Will never buy this brand again and walmat should be held responsible for they purchased them to sell.
32 inch tv
Just had my sceptre tv approximately 2 years and now it will not come on. Talked with customer service, they said it will cost a lot to repair. Based on the complaints, I read above, others are having similar problems it should be a recall on these tvs. I am dissatisfied because this is not the brand I purchased,, it was substituted from the ones that were advertised in the black friday special at wal-mart. Will never purchase another sceptre
warranty
I bought a 32 inch sceptre flat screen TV from Walmart on December 23, 2014 and the picture went black in 9 months, known as the black screen of death. Sceptre customer service will not pay the shipping back to be fixed, shipping back to them is 117.00 which is more than half of what I paid for TV. Sceptre will send a shipping label to send the TV to be recycled, most likely they fix it and sell as refurbished. Be warned, do not get a Sceptre TV.
video quite working after 2 weeks.. audio ok
Walmart sells sceptre tvs at what seems like a great price. I bought a 50-in, hd for $375. The picture quality was one of the best i've even viewed on a television. It remained that way for 2 weeks before the picture went black! Luckily, it has a 1 year warranty! All I have to do is return the tv to california and they will repair it at no cost to me!
Wow! I can return it for only $102 in shipping fees (i'm responsible for the shipping fees according to the maker of my new $375.00 boat anchor!). Lets see, $375 (purchase) + $102 shipping to repair = $475... Not such a great price walmart for a tv that doesn't work!
So lets apply that logic to another item. You buy a auto with a warranty. It breaks. The auto maker will gladly fix it for no charge as soon as you return it to detroit!
Walmart may sell a lot of good products but sceptre is not one! Buyer beware!
my tv went black
Hi, my name is marlene williams 1905 east somerset street, philadelphia, pa, 19134. I purchase a sceptre 32" class lcd 1080p 60hz hdtv, x325bv-fhd flat screen tv during the month of may in 2012. it is now april 2015. on the morning of april 16, 2015. I awoke and pushed my tv remote power button on. to my surprise my tv was black. the only thing that came on was the blue indicator light on the tv. the power indicator light now stays on and will not turn off, besides not seeing a picture blew my mind there was no misuse of my tv, only normall use since the day I purchased it. I have no tv to watch for 8 days now. today is april 23, 2015. I am truly upset about the situation. so I decided to do some research on this sceptre tv. I found that this particular model have had complaints of this same problem. I do have proof of purchase and photos of the tv. I would like to be reinbursed for my tv so I can buy a new one if possible. please take this complaint into consideration. I pray that you find favor in your heart to reinburse me for my purchase. thank you for taking the time out to read this. it is much appreciated. my phone number is [protected]. god bless!
tv went blank after 2 hours called walmart thay sed to call sceptre so far 3 days no rma no. tryed calling open 8/30 to5/30.all thay say .ther closed..11/24 to today.shug i call willmart back.whats going on..philip hawthorne #j18w65obcf4688...craftsmanphil@gmail.com
I had the exact issue with mine. Except I had mine for about 6 months when it went out. I contacted the company and they told me a few things to do and so I did those things and when they didn't work they told me too bad they couldn't help me. So I spent all the extra money I had and was left without a tv. I won't purchase anything from them again. I also purchased mine around the same time you did from the same store but in a different state.
I have the same TV as Marlene Williams. The Sceptre 32 inch Model X325BV-FHD. I also have the same problem. "Lucky" that the problem happened within the 1 year warranty. I emailed them and they sent a prepaid shipping label. They replaced my TV with the exact same model...WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM! This time it's out of warranty. They now respond to all my requests with "Your warranty has expired and there is nothing we can do." I asked for a schematic because I know it's a power supply problem. (A google search confirms this). I asked for the "reset sequence" (Push 'power' button while unplugging...push the bottom two buttons together...something like that) and I don't even get a response now.
If you to a search, there is are companies (LCD Alternatives is one) that sell a capacitor repair kits for Sceptre TV's. And Ebay has replacement power supply boards for some Septre TV's.
The power supply board model number for my TV and Marlene Williams TV is PC150P-4C And there are kits to fix it yourself or boards to replace the whole board.
Sceptre uses the cheapest junk parts to make a cheap junk TV
volume goes up & down randomly
The volume on my TV randomly & continually goes up and down. No one is touching the remote or the TV, but the volume changes by itself. This is crazy. We have tried calling Customer Service and left a message but have NOT received a message back. How can companies be allowed to refuse to service their defective products?
terrible quality
Bought a Sceptre 32"TV 18 months ago. 1st day I had it, I noticed the poor audio quality, crackling and distortion even at lower volume settings. I used an external speaker system ever since. This morning the TV had audio, but would not produce a picture, after trying several different things, I gave up and contacted customer service. Upon hearing back from them, my TV was no longer covered by any of their warranty programs. They told me I could however spend more money to ship the TV back to them so they could fix it at my expense, wonderful! I guess I should be happy it lasted as long as it did, but I'm not, instead I'm upset that this sort of consumer rip off still happens. I will now have to purchase a replacement TV, that was the only one I had, right before the holidays. Thanks for nothing Sceptre TV company, you have really made an impression on me, all BAD! WARNING, NEVER BUY A SCEPTRE TV.
I bought a LED 32 "X322BV in walmart online on August 4, 2015 .was registered scepter pay $ 178 now enero five months speak to walmart me indicate the screen melted. I quepagar $ 100 shipping for me is much scepter debetener a way to send more economic.I have that to throw it away. solar sun spots on tv screen. sent pictures of tv to sceptre customer service, only to have them deny my warranty claim. stated the tv was damaged, they do not cover damages under their warranty. this was after waiting 4 days for a reply from them.
My picture is out. The sound still works.
This is the third time my picture has gone out. I need this tv. Please fix it as soon as possible
Thanks

customer service
I ordered a Sceptre Television. From the day I got it there was a tiny red dot in the center of the screen. I was told by customer service that I could not return the TV because according to industry standards, there had to be 3 dots in a cluster or at least 8 dots all over the screen. So, apparently, I paid $600 for a faulty TV with a dot in the middle. So...

I had a terrible experience with the Sceptre technical support group trying to get an x42BV to work in high definition. Below is the transcript of the chat. I wasted hours of time following their advice – that there was unquestionably a problem with my video card - when the problem was ultimately with the x42BV. After hours of working on the driver, I finally dragged the monitor and computer back to Microcenter where I hooked up my computer to another (working) Scepter LCD/TV monitor and was instantly in hi def.
When I called Sceptre tech support after I finally solved the problem, the tech support manager offered apologies and then insinuated that the problem might be misdiagnosed by Microcenter. Even after I wrote that the problem was solved by hooking my computer up to another monitor, the support group wrote back …..
Dear Customer,
The tech support rep is correct. With a Geforce 9500 GS, you might not have the adequate chipset for achieving the resolution of 1920x1080. I apologize if the agent seemed arrogant but the information he relayed to you is correct. Please also read through the following link.

Steve:
Cannot get beyond 1360 by 768 for a Sceptre - x42bv with nvidia 9500 gs on HP w/ Vista 64 Home, I have already wiped clean and reinstalled the nvidia driver as instructed but there was no improvement. I also cannot install the Sceptre Visita Driver
Call accepted by operator Technical Support. Currently in room: Technical Support, Steve.
Technical Support:
If that resolution is the highest you can get with the HP with the newest drivers, then most likely that is the limitation of the video chipset.
Technical Support:
You'll need to ask your video card maker about higher resolution support.
Steve:
just spoke with nvidia and the card supports it - I also got it up to 1600 earlier but can no longer get that setting
Technical Support:
There's no point on installing the vista driver for the monitor since the monitor is fully plug and play. Just make sure it is recognized as generic pnp and the monitor will be driven fully depending on the capability of the video card.
Steve:
something is wrong -you are blaming nvidia, thaey ae blaminmg you - I need help - I knopw the card whould support more than 1360 by 768
Technical Support:
I'm not blaming the video card chipset. I'm just saying you'll need a better video card, a higher grade one, such as the Nvidia 9600GT
Technical Support:
I don't understand why a 9500 does not support the resolution, since I know since Geforce 6600, they have been supporting widescreen resolution.
Steve:
It does support it - therre is a problem
Technical Support:
Is the monitor being recognized as generic pnp monitor?
Steve:
y
Technical Support:
?
Steve:
yes
Technical Support:
then the TV monitor is already linked with the video card in terms of which resolution is supported, which isn't
Technical Support:
Is it possible for you to try a different video card?
Steve:
Not now
Technical Support:
Besides a different or higher grade video card, I have no other suggestions.
Steve:
please send me to a guru
Technical Support:I'm sorry I don't have any other suggestions because this is based on your video card.
Steve:
why did i get a 1680 x 1050 earlier before i followed secptre advice and now i am limited to 1368...
Technical Support:
If you update your video card driver and you lost resolution then it proves that this is a video card issue.
Technical Support:
You got a different max resolution because of the difference in the video card software driver.
Steve:
wow, i know, but you guys told me to update it
Technical Support:
Updating the video card driver usually would retain the current resolution support and add more resolutions.
Technical Support:
You can still uninstall your new video card drivers and reinstall your original drivers from your HP manufacturer's driver disc.
Steve:
usually things work. but they don't, please let me know how to get your monitor to work with a nvidia GeForce 9500 GS at 1080i or write me that it cannot be done
Technical Support:
I have told you that the resolution is based on your video card not the monitor. You need to try another video card such as the Geforce 7600 GT or 8600 GT or 9600 GT with the newest forceware driver. The resolution from the PC will be progressive so it will be 1080P not 1080i.
Steve:
please let me know how to get your monitor to work with a nvidia GeForce 9500 GS at 1920 by 1080 (highest res) or write me that it cannot be done
Technical Support:
I have told you that the resolution is based on your video card not the monitor. You need to try another video card such as the Geforce 7600 GT or 8600 GT or 9600 GT with the newest forceware driver. The resolution from the PC will be progressive so it will be 1080P not 1080i.
Technical Support:
If you cannot do what I asked, then I'm sorry I cannot help you further.
Steve:
are you saying it cannot be done?
Technical Support:
A resolution on screen is based on multiple supporting units, the monitor, the video card, the software driver, and the operating system.
Steve:
a simple yes or no
Technical Support:
If one of them is not up to spec with the resolution requirement, then the resolution cannot be achieved.
Steve:
please
Steve:
i am assuming you are telling me it cannot be done
Technical Support:
I am telling you what needs to be done to achieve the resolution.
Technical Support:
I can't confirm whether it can or cannot be done because you still need to talk with your video card support.
Steve:
no - i want to know if it is possible tyo resolve it with the hardware i have now - you are not answering my question
Technical Support:
I just told you I can't confirm whether it can or cannot be done because you still need to talk with your video card support.
Steve:
please contact them
Technical Support:
You'll need to contact them for resolution support.
Steve:
please send me to your suipervisor
Technical Support:
Also you'll need to ask them about driver issues between old drivers supporting higher resolution while newer driver supports a lower resolution.
Steve:
supervisor, please
Technical Support:
I have given you all the information I can on resolution support.
Technical Support:
Thanks for using Sceptre Technical Support's Live Chat. Have a wonderful

I have A soundbar that is not sceptre. I have tried different connections and nothing works. Do I have to buy a sceptre sound bar? Please answer.
Why does my tv all of a sudden cycle through sources?
I understand his problem---have a problem myself---scepter co. seems to have mgically disappeared from the fac of the earth-----emails undeliverable--no phone person just automated telling you to call back--I WILL NEVER BUY THIS PRODUCT AGAIN.
I have been trying to get a broken Sceptre TV repaired since November 2008. It is now May 26, 2009 and it has yet to be resolved.
I shipped it to them for repair, they returned it to me with more damage added and a broken casing. I retuned to them again and they returned someone else's TV to me by accident and it was broken as well. This has been going on for months and I can't seem to get anyone at Sceptre to respond. Everytime I call, they act as if it were the first time they ever heard of me, my TV or the problems.
I am now holding someone else's TV hostage until they resolve this. But please give me a break -- 7 MONTHS?

I sent my tv for repairs a month ago and was emailed that my tv worked fine and will be sent back because there were no red lines in the set. I paid $432 for this tv back in March 2016 and $35 in shipping materials to send it back it stop working and per their guidelines my tv is to be under warranty and repair for a 1yr. So I have called 6-8 times at least and sent as many emails just to get and answer from Son that my tv will be shipped and that he will be in contact with the warehouse to ship it back and this was the Monday before thanksgiving. I called back the following wk and was told the same thing that he will get back to me after his warehouse gives him an answer so another wk goes by I call and leave a VM because emails were not working. So I called again today got Son on the phone who told me he would call back today he never did then a technician calls and said I left a VM for him to call but couldnt assist if Son was already taking care of the issue. So I tried to call Son back after I got off the phone with the technician and of course got no answer. Then he sends me an email 30 mins ago and said that my tv has a white screen and he will send it out tomorrow but I want be able to us the tv any more. This is the worst experience I've ever had and the first tv I've ever brought new and will never buy any more of their products and will be sure to advertise how I have been treated and they type of customer service guarantee that's you offer and don't stand behind.
