a couple of managers in the store
I always shop at the Smith's store at the corner of Louisiana and Montgomery but there are a couple of managers that I noticed having bad attitudes. There names are Susan and Richard. I see them working the registers sometimes and I try my best to avoid going down their lines. All of the other managers and other employees are friendly and respectful but Susan and Richard seems to be nuisances. Either they need to get their acts together or stop being managers.

stale food
The store is being remodeled (All while still being open). Since the start of the remodel we have purchased 2 loaves of bread and box of graham crackers that were stale. We have never had a problem before at this location. There is also horrible service when it comes to the check stands being open. 4 check stands open on a week night is not enough. We stood in line for 20 min before we were rang up for our stale groceries.

Your store in Reno on South Meadows Pkwy has employed a grocery bagger/cart pusher that has a criminal record for Domestic violence. He has pled guilty, spent time in jail and currently has a Protective order issued against him for threats of death against a 16 year old minor girl. I cannot believe you do not do a complete background check for a position...

I am an employee that has worked in the bakery dept.My complaint is the hostile work environment and disrespect that I have gotten from my superviser by telling me, not politely asking me to stay past my scheduled shift and do extra work and bake excesive product that just gets thrown out because it does not sell. This day Nov.12th, I was told to break out excessive product and throw loads and IT already worked an hour over my shift and IT advised my superviser that IS could get it finished during my next shift. She then told me if I did not get it done right now, then don't even come back tonite at Midnight which is when my next scheduled shift starts.I was appaled by this response and I would like to know how they can work you past your scheduled shift without even asking politely if I would?Because corporate will be there tmr, , they should have scheduled me extra time to do it today!Anyway there have been other times where my superviser has treated me with disrespect and when I first started working there they had me working 60 hours a week just so they could get caught up?
employee complaint
I am a current employee of smiths food and drug. I work at the fuel center and on october 10, 2011 money had went missing from the drawer. Naturally i was to blame since it was on my shift. I understand that they had to suspend me to further investigate the matter. Since i have done nothing wrong i am not worried, however i have missed work for an entire week. I called my manager on wednesday, october 19th. He stated that the guy who has to do the investigation wasn't going to be there until october 20 or october 21. I have not received a phone call. So on october 21 i called my manager again and he said the guy who does the investigation would not be there till the following monday, october 24. This is rediculous. I can not offord to miss work and everytime i call to find out when i can go back to work they tell me "i'll call you tomorrow" or "we don't know yet because the guy has to come this day or that". I believe this to be a screwed up and unprofessional. I have family to take care of and i can not afford to miss any work. As far as i am concerned they are postponing everyday and it is extremly unprofessional. My complaint is simple. It cannot take over a week to investigate something this easy. I have worked at a grocery store before as a manager and in any case it has never taken this long. It is very suspisious to me that they are taking this long and i am losing money every day that i need. I have bills to pay just like anyone else and cannot afford to miss work for this long. If the managers at smiths food and drug cannot do their job correctly, then they should not be working there.

I never got my last check after I quit last sunday I'm suppose to get it within 3 days by law also I have been trying to get 18 hours that was shorted to me almost 3 or 4 months ago I cnt remember been so long everytime they give me a run a round but never give me my hours I worked um that's stealing and almost gonna be force to take action further
cashier disrespect
This evening I went with a friend to pump gas at the Kalispell Smith's gas station. Having not been there before, I went to the window and asked for instructions. I was met with a very condescending, disrespectful woman who, though her instructions were more or less clear (use the discount card at the pump, etc), throughout this conversation and the instructions via the speaker, she was very rude and condescending. Regardless, I was respectful, put two $20 bills in the receiving drawer for the clerk, and went to pump the gas. After I was finished, the bill was $38. But when I went to the window to collect the change, the clerk told me that she had not received $40 from me.
Now if this had been a simple misunderstanding, I would not be making this complaint - but instead of telling me she was going to figure out what was wrong, she (several times) told me that the money was not there because *I* did not give it to her! Even when I told her not to call me a liar, she repeated the offensive words - she had not misplaced it, *I* did not put $40 in her drawer.
One would think this was simple enough a problem to solve - how many gas stations don't have cameras these days? But after the customer service representative was called (who defended the clerk, btw - whatever happened to customers being treated with respect?), I was told they did not have access to the cameras! What kind of inane system has security cameras that cannot be checked?
So what happens? After the clerk tells me I need to pay (again!) for the gas, the police need to be called, which again would not have been a big deal - except the clerk not only accuses me of trying to steal the gas, but even goes as far as telling the police that I was being "irrate" and that I had used foul language toward the clerk! I don't use foul language, btw - this was the clerk trying to make me to be the bad guy!
If there was a poster child for how to drive business away from your store, this clerk would be it! I have *never* been so disrespected and treated like such dirt! Tomorrow the cameras are supposed to be checked and I know I will be exonerated, but nevertheless - if this woman is not fired, I will never do business with Smiths again!
Further Update:
After waiting a week for the tapes be "reviewed", my friend went in on my behalf to ask to view the tapes (remember, I had been banned and threatened with arrest if I so much as pursued a complaint for trying to call and discuss this issue with the store manager), and she spoke with an assistant manager before speaking with the store manager, Brett. Turns out, accrding to the AM, the tapes at the station could not prove or disprove anything because they are too grainy, ie, there *are* no tapes to review! Well, when my friend confronted Brett (manager) with this, *she* was 86'd (banned) from the store!
Now, several days later, the police are still being told *by* Brett (manager) that he has not had the time to review the tapes, and now the case is being sent to the local prosecutor to file charges, based *solely* upon the accusation by Brett that theft occurred!
Maybe this is not a big deal to anyone else - but I am presently on probation with a 15 year sentence hanging over my head, and this little false allegation designed to protect a Smith's Food and Drug employee (who apparently has a history of pocketing change, according to another Smith's employee I know personally) could send me to prison! But who cares, right?
Update:
As if the foregoing was not bad enough, Smith's Grocery Store has 86'd (ie, banned) me from their business *pending* the review of the tapes - and ironically enough, the store manager (who is reportedly the only one who can review tapes!) "flew out of town on a family emergency" *today*, and of course, they have no idea when he will be back! Can we say cover-up?! How hard is it to review a tape and see that I put money in a drawer? What kind of specialized training does this one man have - who is now allegedly on indefinite leave of absence - that no other person in the entire store can review a tape to decide whether or not the store has brought a false charge of theft against me?!

renting a carpet cleaner
Even though they demanded a credit card and I had a valid id from both federal and another state they wouldn't rent me a carpet cleaner. I had a leak and so I had to go home and hope that the carpet wouldn't get moldy. They made me wait 20 minutes for the person who handled the carpet cleaner rental to stop "being busy" to help me. These people knew I was out of state (considering there is an air force base less than 10 miles from there, it is a usual situation.) However, they still made me wait for nothing. Then the girl had the nerve to say she was sorry. I'm so tired of people delivering poor customer service saying they are "sorry". Sorry is if they went home and lamented the fact they couldn't rent me one to fix my carpet. Her denial of service is just that... a denial of service... there is nothing sorry about it .. it's just business. I'd rather have the truth. We may take your credit card for deposit and you may have a valid ID proving you are who you say you are but that is not enough to prove that you are truthful. By the way, you should trust that we deliver you the best in food without endangering our enviroment... no proof required.

I have been trying to make a frustrating situation known to Smiths. I shop at the Smiths at 4800 Mcmahon Rd NW in Albuquerque, and need to shop in the early morning. I understand that stock must be unloaded when fewer shoppers are present; however, when aisles are blocked, or nearly blocked, it presents great difficulty to the customers present. I attempted to explain this to the cashier on the morning of November 14, but the cashier was too focused on helping the next customer. HELP!

inspect your receipts every time!
I have been a Smith's patron for over a decade now, and most likely will continue to be in the future. I just have a few complaints, that probably happen at other grocery stores as well.
1. They start scanning my items before I have a chance to enter my fresh values (discount card) card, which leaves me wondering if I was charged the correct price for those items.
2. Nearly every time I shop for my groceries I am over charged a few dollars! It really upsets me, because I try to watch whats going on, but they go so fast (which is a good thing I suppose) and I miss a few items along the way. I have even questioned the price of an item and they assured me that the discount would come off at the end of the transaction, and it didn't. This happens to me so often.
Once I went in for a large haul of groceries, and I purchased a toothbrush that was on sale for $2.99. The others of this brand were all $5.99. Well, it rang up for $5.99, I questioned it, so she went to check the item tag. When she returned to me she said, "Oh, well this isn't on sale, the sale ones for $2.99, so these were put in their place." Shouldn't they have taken down the $2.99 price if we were being charged $5.99? This is just an example of how they trick us customers, and that we really need to inspect our receipts, every time!

What's the point in having My availabilities in the E-schedule portal if the management is going to use it against employees? Isn't it supposed to be a tool to allow management the ease of scheduling and to make employees life easier? Very confused
I went into your store in burley this afternoon, I feel like your employees need more training on new things and services your store provides. Some very unfriendly cashiers. Was throughly disappointed. I do most of my grocery shopping at your store. Not sure if I'll return.
I have a major complaint about someone in the Smith's #190 in Kingman, Az. who is in the pharmacy. She (Jen) had been in the pharmacy for 2 yrs. before having to take a test to become a tech. Well, when it came to the test, she failed. She was allowed to retake the test and failed for the second time. This all took place last year. Now, almost a year later, she is still in the pharmacy. WHY? I get my information from my husband who became one of 2 asst. store directors 2 1/2 yrs. ago. I also believe this gal was selling drugs to my husband and a few other associates in the store. I also believe the store director knows all about it. I also have another problem with the hrs. my husband is required to work. He works 10 to 11 hrs. a day and 5 to 6 days a week. When he does get a day off, inevitably, one of the other employees will call and/or text him. They even have the nerve to do it when they know he's on vacation. This store has a lot of bad things going on and I won't go into the rest. If these problems are not resolved in a timely manner, I'll start writing to the papers to let them know. This store is a toilet to put it politely. How would you feel if you were leaving the store and a cashier said to your husband, "Hey Donald, strip and give me 20."? Need I say more?
yesterday i shopped at smiths 09 05 2014, a case of dog food $9.48 was not placed in the cart i did not notice till i went to feed the. today i went back to smiths walk up to a manager to explain he looked at me, before i said a word told me WAIT and walked away. no excuse me, just a second please nothing AIT. when he returned i explained the problem he read the receipt told me to go get another. i am in my seventies walk with a bad limp. no i m sorry i will get you another nothing .it cost me extra gas to go back and forth all to be treated like a bother to him. but this not the first time, i hope some can fix this if not i drive past an albertsons and walmart to reach your store. thank you
Who do we contact about the selection of Oranges at Smith's. We buy a lot of oranges and they have been frozen. When we get them home to peel them they are just mush and we must throw them out. I am sick of paying for poor fruits.
Who do I contact about this?
Our store is in Ft. Mohave, AZ...
Please help.
I have been shopping Smith's grocery here in Rock Springs, Wyoming for years. They make me soooo mad. I have complained to corporate and the manager, but they ignor me! I am disabled and only ask that they not overload my bags! I only can take cold goods in the house but it is very painful! They ignor you, ex; six can goods and two jars of jam in the same bag. Milk and can goods in same bag. They have smashed my tomatoes with stuff on top of them... I go and ask, bag light! They KNOW me! I say " seriously, you always ignor me" and they nodd and still do it. I shop there less and less! But there are still goods I like there. I wish someone would ring their neck!
Make sure you are not over charged!... I have been a smith costumer for past 15 years- almost everyday. I have caught them several times over charging me but I never said anything as I though it was random mistake. But there is nothing random in their mistake. In fact it is part of smiths culture to over charge costumers.
Today, I went back and show the cashier that he over charged me $4:00 ( on $11:00 ticket). When I went back to get my money, the cashier name ED (at smith in Yale and coal- ABQ) talk to me in a very angry & rude manner. He did not apologized and he did not even accept that it was his fault. Instead he began to shake and point his finger at me in threatening manner and tried to blame me for his mistakes. This is kind of respect you should expect from smith employee.
I would never shop there again.
Here is my email….moniee43@gmail.com… let see if anyone from smith can show respect and apologize for their rude behavior.
I will not hold my breath, however I will report this smith to state agency.
I was just in the smiths in albuquerque nm. at montgomery & tramway bl ne. and looked for an even REASONABLY clean shopping cart, I picked the best looking one in the store but as I started to walk through the store I looked in it and saw crap and by crap I mean excrement in it these things need to be steamed clean remember I said it was the cleanest one I could find then to find little pieces of that stuff (you know dung) in it I took it to an asst. mgr who didn't think it was unusual I immediately drove 6 blocks to a very clean Albertsons I'm not a clean freak I camp and hunt and fish but this was disgusting and then to understand that this is the status quo according to the employees I had contact with means I'll never go into another Krogers store(boy have they slipped since I was a child I'm 56 yrs old) it seems peculiar that a store 6 blocks from there should be so much cleaner and better organized(polite concerned employees and have several handicapped people)you get employees from the same area so it's not a problem of not being able to find good people and as I read others comments it seems to be company wide YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED TO WORK FOR SMITHS KROGERS as I would be if I tried to pass this off as acceptable maybe we should feed the C.E.O. of the company excrement on his dinner plate and see if he likes it although he probably shops at Albertsons the extremely upset Michael C. Berry Albuquerque N.M.
TRASH in the SAME SHOPPING CARTS that we put our sterile food in.
When I usually shop at Smith's, I will see a Smiths' worker getting the cart that we as patrons use to shop with (food, etc., .). Than they take a plastic trash bag and put it in the shopping cart and fill it up with nasty, stink, drippy trash that people throw away. Now, look at your shopping carts, there are BLACK grout and grim in them. I use the wipes they have, i clean all the places that i touch to push, and pull the carts around, but take their paper and skatter it in spots i put my food in. They should steam clean these buggers. I go to the extreme at times, but than again, trying to same the environment, can't win against this fight. But I always look for the cleaniest cart to shop with, still, there is spills of liquid somewhere, or someone elses trash is in the cart. GROSS! Las Vegas, Henderson stores...so far..
Today (12-1-08) we shopped at Smith's in Pahrump, NV and I had a coupon (Exclusive store coupon) for $2.50 off on fresh pork from your meat dept. if $10 was spent. I bought over $30 worth of Pork products and when I arrived at the check out I was told the coupon wasn't any good as I hadn't gotten it at the enclosed case that also holds fish. Now I'm sorry, but the meat dept. is just what it is where all the meats are displayed. This was a $2.50 coupon and let me tell you this is very misleading to all customers. If you meant for the pork to be bought in the enclosed case the coupon should stipulate that. Meat dept. to us other people means just that where all meats are sold. I'm really upset and disappointed about this as I feel this is very misleading and misrepresented by your company. I know this is just a little bother to the company, but it the principle of the situation to me.
