Phone lookup
On February 16, 2023 I paid .95 cents for what I thought was a one time phone number lookup. On February 24, 2023 I was charged another $29.95 for a month subscription. I called the customer support who informed me that I had signed up for a monthly subscription after a 7 day trial. After explaining to them that I never saw that on the initial sign on, they only agreed to refund $11.98 of the total back. I feel like this is a total scam to get money on their account and a very bad practice if they want returning customers.

Contact search
I registered to Spokeo 7 days ago in the hopes that it might be useful in finding new contacts, of course I had to pay 2 USD for the first contact but I said it might be useful. Little did I know that I therefore agreed for them to charge me every month thereafter.
The site is a scam, you can't find anything useful, there is no refund policy, it takes you 3 minutes to cancel because it's constantly warning you how you lose even the contact search credits available when canceling, even those you paid for (yes, today the payment went in for 100, today I was "blackmailed" if I cancel, I lose everything I paid for).
The reason they charge you the first 2 USD on your first search trial is so that afterwards they are whitelisted by banking provider to take your money monthly without consent. This is a dodgy policy which I saw on a lot of scam sites.
Save yourself the 2 USD, save yourself the later credit card subscription charges, this website is a scam with less contact information about users than Google.

I used this service to look up some data. Forgot to cancel the "auto subscription" it makes you sign up for. On the second money just after the auto bill kicked in I contacted them and asked for a refund. They told me they would give me a "prorated refund of less then 10.00 of the 24.95 they just charged me for a service they know I never used. All I can say is scam site. Don't use this service. Don't ever give them credit card details. Don't bother with them, they don't have what you are looking for anyway. And they are of no use.

Unauthorized charges
I was using a search engine for information, and was offered a search by Spokeo for .95 cents, which I agreed to. Then they put two unauthorized charges of 24.95 on my credit card, which I never agreed to or authorized. The .95 offer said nothing about any automatic membership or anything of the sort. I have been billed for a service, that I never requested or used at all.
Desired outcome: I would like a refund of the unauthorized charges.

Single Search for $0.95
On Oct 20, 2022, I purchased a single search for $0.95.
A week later I was charged $24.95 and every month for 3 months after that, for a subscription I did not ask for.

Considering you sent me a receipt for my $0.95 purchase, but not a single receipt for the subsequent charges leads me to believe that it is your intentions to mistakenly charge unsuspecting consumers.
If this is not resolved by January 10, 2023, I will contact my credit card and have them initiate a chargeback.

Spokeo extra fees
I used your "service" on 12/24/2022 and paid my 95 cents. You tried to place a fraudulent charge to that card on the morning of 12/31/2022. This fraudulent charge caused my card to be canceled. I could not replace it until 1/3/2023. Your fraudulent practices are hurting people and you need to stop this terrible process. I have filed a complaint with the BBB of Los Angeles and will be finding out who hands out business licenses in CA and report this fraud to them.

Consistant billing
I signed up one time for .95 cents or something like that and i made sure to cancel my membership because i knew they were gonna charge me monthly if i didn't. So i made sure i canceled and i got the confirmation email and everything and the next month i got charged 24.95 so i emailed customer service and they said it might be that i signed up on another email. i did not i checked. But i got a refund. Here i am the next month and they charged me again, the same amount and it says *claim reversal: Spokeo*. I emailed them again and i got an automated email from them in response saying they're closed the 24th and 25th and will resume on the 26th. It's the 27th.

Credit card charges after a one time $0.95 fee
Two months ago I took advantage of a one-time offer to look up a company name, for a $0.95 charge thru PayPal. Since that time I have been charged twice for $24.90. I did not authorize any payments, nor did I agree to any service beyond the initial payment. Please remove me from any further charges, and refund the two $24.90 already taken. Unauthorized Spokeo subscription.
October 29th I entered the website of Intellius to conduct a search for which I was offered a one time lookup for $7.95. Intellius wound up charging me $24.95 for a subscription which I did not authorize. I contacted PayPal and my money was refunded. During my transaction with Intellius, Spokeo somehow was able to debit my PayPal account for $24.95. However, my complaint to PayPal resulted in a denial of my claim due to "insufficient" documentation. I do not understand what particular "documentation" Paypal requires because I did not submit a subscription request to Spokeo for a subscription. Spokeo probably scams millions of persons in this manner processing fraudulent subscriptions. They are criminals in my opinion.

Unauthorized credit charges
Never ever give SPOKEO your credit card info. Like all the others filing complaints about Spokeo (check the internet!) since 2006!?
Just like the one on this site from June 2022:
"They were running a promotion months ago for one report for 99 cents but like most of these "services" required payment of 99cents with your credit/debit card... (Bad idea). I went ahead and approved the 99cents transaction. When my monthly credit card bill came in I was surprised to see multiple automated charges on my account that I never agreed to or inquired a report about."
I miraculously subscribed to this service, an automatic monthly payment of some 26 dollars I NEVER agreed on. I switched off the automatic charge on my account and stopped the unwanted unrequested 'subscription', immediately. Like Spokeo is 'advicing' on the internet: to log in on their website again, in order to unsubscribe. Whatever I did there, it wasn't unsubscribing. Because I found out, 2 other unauthorized payments were made to Spokeo from my Paypal account: the automatic charge switched ON somehow?
I will not stop to complain everywhere possible and keep on, keep on, keep on raising the issue with Paypal about Spokeo, not until I got the 3 unauthorized payments back and NEVER EVER be charged again by Spokeo.
Btw I don't believe the complaints on Spokeo, as it seems on this site, are 'resolved'. This is exactly the reason why I'm filing my complaint here as well.

Unauthorized charges
Chatted with Susana in Customer Service on 10/24/22 at 10.25am about Tranaction id 27A611807C917871C ending in card 8277. I Did not authorize the amount charged of $27.95 (on 10/20/22). I only charged $.95 (on 10/12/22) for a one-time service and did not agree to any additional payments or contract of service with them to have incurred an additional charge of any kind. Had asked Spokeo to refund the $27.95, as I did not agree to any service agreement with them and was told by Susana that they would refund the charges, but have not yet been refunded the monies. This is a scam attempt to defraud people of a monthly service fee that they did not initially sign up for!

One time 95 cent look up resulted in $25 charge to paypal for a subscription that I didn't want, nor did I sign up for.
I wanted to look up one quick thing. Pay the $.95 and then be done. Nowhere did it state that that one thing would mean I was going to subscribe to a service. It's pretty scammy that this was done.
I put in for the report on Sept. 27 and then on Oct. 5 I was charged for this service, in the middle of the night, so I know it wasn't me signing up for it. It's not a service I need.

Spokeo phone location service
I was looking for a way to find the location of my stolen smartphone and came across Spokeo through a Google search, which claimed to provide this for a small fee of $1...
However, since I used my bank debit card to pay this small fee, Spokeo took that as a sign that I was a good mark to steal more money from my bank account and removed another $24.99 tonight, which I did not see until they were already closed. 😒😡😡😒

On July 9,2022 I too looked at the Spokeo site to see what it was about. I too agreed to validate I was 18 by putting my visa info on their site because it said for $0.95 one time charge I could look up an old friends possible address and agreed to that. I agreed to a $0.95 one time charge on that day. Well today my account was hit with a $24.95 subscription payment I did not authorize and I’m really upset. I would like my money returned and looked on their site and they offer no way to delete my visa info or personal information. This is stealing and a scam. I want answers.

Last February I used Spokeo for a one time lookup, paid like 95 cents for the service. A month later I notice on my Visa statement a charge of $24.95. Consulted them by online chat and was told that I had, unbeknown to me, enrolled in a monthly subscription @ $24.95 per. Naturally I balked at that nonsense and was assured I'd be unsubscribed. The following month the $24.95 charge appeared on my Visa once again. I then emailed asking why? Their response was they had no record of the chat and implied I was lying. The email back and forth resulted in the cancellation of the subscription and two refunds, one of $9.98 & one of $19.96 applied to my Visa on June 30 2022. How these amounts were determined are, to me, a mystery. For 5 months while attempting to cancel this fiasco, I was being charged $24.95 every month. I contend Spokeo should credit my Visa $124.75 minus $29.94 previously credited resulting in total of $94.81. Thanks

Keeps charging me yet I didn't sign up...
I have been charged several times by this company. Let me tell you- it's getting OLD. I tried to cancel it through my PayPal which I thought I thought I did when I already saw a old prior charge & filed a dispute. I have had to deal with them once before already, they were rude & told me I was basically s.o.l since I "didn't catch the charge within xx amount of time/days" which I thought was such b.s. bcus nobody plans on needing to comb through any & every days debit transactions in case of this sort of thing. I had to take my payment card information off my tablet to stop this from happening. My last 4 of my card is 8337. I want a refund for all the charges made on my card.

Unauthorized charges
Absolutely under no circumstance give spoeko your credit card info. They were running a promotion months ago for one report for 99 cents but like most of these "services" require payment of 99cents (understandably) with your credit/debit card... (Bad idea). I went ahead and approved the 9cents transaction and at first was very happy with the report I got given it cost me only 99 cents. When my monthly credit card bill came in I was surprised to see multiple other charges on my account that I never agreed to or inquired a report about. I emailed them to find out what the charges were from. To this day I still have heard nothing to the point I've had to block their payments via my credit card. Even more of a hassle is to help recoup the money of unauthorized transactions the credit card company wants to make sure you made every effort to resolve the issue with the merchant before getting involved which is a tedious task taking time and money away from my family even further all because I fell for the 99cent report trap. Please head my advice if you give them your credit card you will pay for it (literally) forever and whether you like it or not it seems.
Desired outcome: refund of all the money that was charged to my credit card which with AutoPay I was paying off without even realizing it.. with the exception of the 99 cent i agreed too and my information removed from their system
