coffee, food, blaring commentary
I understand that Spur sponsors sporting events, but I also understand Spur is a family restaurant so found it extremely unpleasant at Las Vegas Spur where it felt more like I was in a sports bar!
The volume of the sport broadcast this morning 21 September, plus the clapping & shouting by supporters was so unpleasant I had to shout to try hold a conversation.
If this is an expected norm, after many years supporting Spur, I will rather go enjoy a peaceful meal with my friends & family elsewhere. My friend's autistic son would have gone ballistic with terror had he been with today.
Family restaurant, noisy sports eatery? Very unpleasant experience for a very disappointing meal, even the coffee was awful, cream lumpy & sour tasting.

My family and I had our first visit at the Musgrave branch Spur on Friday and i must say the service was so bad in that the waitress couldn't cope with the customers and we waited 35 minutes for our meals and 30 minutes for 1 cup of coffee... and to top it off we ordered ice cream and chocolate sauce and to our dismay it was sour and when complained it was stated that nothing was wrong with it and its our tastebuds thats an issue.When we requested the manager that stated that to approach us he didnt come instead sent another manager who tried to cover up for him and say they changed the machine like 10 minutes before etc.We waited for the bill another 20 minutes.Terrible service.

restrooms /toilet facilities
I would like to know if Spur, The Glen Mall, will it ever get their toilet clean, fresh and up to date. The toilets are forever with bad smell, no ventilation and dirty. Will you guys ever consider a changing room or baby room for women with babies after all Spur is a family restaurant but i do not think it does take women into consideration at all.

Last night my family and I, a party of 12 people, were at the airport and decided to go to spur for a meal. We came to the front counter, said we need a table for 12 and a lady (who I assume is the manager) very abruptly said "We are closing at 9:30pm", her "warning" to me and my family seemed like a note to say that we can't sit there long which was utterly ridiculous since we got there at about 8:45 so there was plenty of time for us to sit and enjoy a meal. If 9:30 is the closing time then patrons should be allowed to walk in at any time before then and order a meal without being made to feel rushed.
At this point we were completely put off from ordering food but we went to sit anyway, we should have turned around at the door since it only got worse. Service was terrible, we spilt something on the table and when cleaning the mess up the waitress came to the table but I had to call her back to pick up the paper towel that was used. She didn't offer to help clean... We had to ask her for everything needed. The waitress was so unprofessional and not friendly at all.
I won't ever go eat at this spur again and will tell family and friends/social media about my bad experience.

appalling customer service
Most appalling service I've ever experienced!
Today being the 7th of September, my partner and I decide to drive to Malvern for breakfast and after much deliberation we chose the spur steak ranch!
I enter and 10:55 just being in time for breakfast and wait at the door like a doorman for 10 minutes unattended to as I know I need to specify the number of people I require a table for
I then get seated and wait a further 25 minutes to get asked if we've been attended to whilst staff walk by continuously!
I even asked one of the waitresses 15 minutes through my wait who's attending to these tables and she was never seen again!
The manager then comes along with a louzy apology and with no intention at all in providing any compensation(and note I'm not talking about freebies) for the disgusting service and even stated as much!
Atleast I would have wanted him to just serve my breakfast and I would be happy and he refused and just stood there as if we don't even belong there...
I asked my partner to then leave with me and the manager seemed most happy that we did!
Was there something specially wrong with us to receive such bad service? My partner is the head editor of a major news paper and the public will surely hear about this!

I am from Belgium my name is Allen Moore. l was served by a drunk waiter at Spur in Plettenberg bay his service was the waste l have ever received in a resturant. The waiter gave me bad service he was drunk smelling alcohol, l personally don't even know wy the manager can let that waiter serve us after that he was even forcing us to tip him, Please can you make sure that you service is better because if this is what is happening in all you Spurs you will end up losing customer. Luckily l asked the name of the waiter Nathan if you have many waiters like this you will end up with no customers. Thank you please look in this issue and make sure it's resolved am worried about the other customers

Description: Breakfast was ice cold when arrived. Worst breakfast ever. Really bad. Go see for yourself.
But my extreme concern is that the Business is being scammed. Second occasion this happened. Customer is offered a coffee and what happens when payment is due the waiter brings a bill without the coffee being added and informs you that you must pay for the coffee she just forgot to include and subsequently pockets the cash.
Bills left by previous customers are also used to pocket cash.

Order thru uber service
Hi I am Mr Abraham's from 10 St. Ives, 1 Sutton avenue, Umhlanga. It saddens me to send this complaint.
This is the second time we ordered food from spur via the Uber app. I regret to say that on both occasions I was not happy. Tonight we ordered 2 X cheddarmelt burgers with chips and onion rings, 1 X hot wings with sweet potato chips and 400g burger. The order arrived with 2 X cheddarmelt burgers with 1 portion of chips, 2 portions of sweet potato chips and hot wings. My order was not complete it was missing 1 X portion of chips, 2 portions of onion rings and 400g ribs. My total order was R481 and R10 for Uber trip. I ordered my food at 7:35pm my food arrived at 8:24pm which was fine. The Uber drive went back to spur to pick up the balance of my food as per the manager's instructions. I phone the spur branch at 8:55pm asking when can I get my food delivered as my family are waiting to eat. The lady replied it's on its way. I replied thank you. The Uber driver arrived at 21:14 with the balance of my delivery of my food and a portion of onion rings were not there.
Now I'm not sure what is going on at spur but to leave out another item is not on.
I am not sure why spur does not take orders via phone anymore but this system does not work. I really don't mind picking up my order.
If this is the way Spur will be conducting their business I will not be ordering from spur in the future.

hygiene and dirty
On 03/08/2019 I took my son to have his birthday meal at Sandiego Spur in Worcester.When we got there the place was busy, we got seated and place our orders.I went to the toilet and there was a smell not nice and the floors were stinky.The toilet itself was stinking and dirty and un higenic.I told the manager and she told me she will see that someone clean it.Afte we had our food which we couldnt eat aswell as my son and mom.Due to the toilet that was unhigenic.When we left I told her again and she told me she will give attention.It was a horrible expierience and this is not right.Ive been a member by spur more than 10 years

- The Chicken burger I bought today
(04 August 2019) containedd RAW chicken meat
- I bought this burger from the Spur "Grill and Go" Thanda Tau, Vrede.
- I only bit into the burger upon my arrival home and found the meat to be soft and "jelly-like" in the inside
- on further inspection of the meat burger I found pink, soft, gooey meat. Raw meat.
- I assume that the meat was not cooked properly and the branch was busy. However, serving raw chicken meat is unacceptable.
- I am requesting for a refund for the chicken burger meal

I would like express my disappointment in the level of service I received at Soneike spur last night What was suppose to be a special surprise for my mother turned out a disaster.
I am totally disgusted in their customer service.
We ordered 2 Mohawk plates which was suppose to include :lamb chop, ribs, chicken and wors then they tell us there is no wors available .Which we agreed to their offer of a beef kebab . When our food arrive there were no lamb chops in both plates. When the food arrive it was so cold you could swallow everything at once.We notify the waitress about the missing chops she brought it in a side plate afterwards. Which I complaint about my cold food they add new chips but microwaved the other food . My mom ordered ribs and chips which she could not eat it was burned and hard so she throw it for her dogs please check the cameras where she put her ribs in a takeaway .We ordered 4 hunger busters only 3arrive my husband had to wait until 20min after the food was served .
I will never in my life enter Soneike spur again !

I went to Spur in Southgate Mall on Wednesday at 21:45 wanting to place a take away order as the restaurant closes at 22:00.
At no point did the cashier ask how long we were willing to wait, she took the order, i paid and then only she announced that it would take around 15 mins for the order, far too long for me to wait.
I requested that she cancel the order and refund the monies, which she refused to do, saying that the system doesnt allow a card refund. I have been working in retail, I know very well that all payments can be refunded. If a small random take away can do a refund on card, how can an entire franchise business not.
I found her attitude and lack of willingness to assist very off putting

Good morning, l am raising a very bad experience l had at your branch in Polokwane. Had a meal for four people, having taken a family l visited in Limpopo out. The meal was served on chopping boards as plates, this was highly distasteful and bears high health risk! I was very disappointed, that the line manager could not correct the matter or give a reasonable explanation. I did a walk around the restaurant to see what type of utensils, every table had decent plates except ours. This really frustrated me very much!

Good day Spur Management Services,
I would like to bring to your attention the service received from Adrian never would I complain easily but this young man had an attitude of note, rolling his eyes and taking down the order incorrectly. The waiting period since we sat down for our drinks and arguing with the patron of what she ordered after bring an incorrect order and getting her food after everyone was done eatin. it was very unpleasent.
Then he also added the table opposite us ½ Nachos onto our bill that was it the cherry on top.
We just payed for every thing and left as seen on our bill attached. I have spoken to the manager on duty who apologized, but I need this child to get better training on servicing people he does not belong in the service industry with that attitude.

Today the 1st of June 2019, I visited the Spur in East London Retail Park. I was accompanied by my wife who happens to be in a wheelchair. Its was round about lunchtime and we wanted to grab a bite. We wanted to go to the Spur. On arrival, we were politely greeted by a young waitress who offered to seat us. It was evident that the young lady was not at all ready to handle the situation. She took us to cubicles and non was suitable for a wheelchair. Then it dawned on me that this establishment was not wheelchair friendly at all. The chairs/seating was all affixed. I looked around if I could spot a disabled bathroom, and to my surprise, nothing. We were taken aback, not only was it embarrassing for us but also the young waitress. I called to speak with the manager who was having a conversation with some other waitress I presume, they were speaking in isixhosa, we could not even understand what they were saying, but it was clear that the conversation was about us. At this point I was not amused at all. I asked for details where I could lodge a complaint. As a result of this, we ended up going to another outlet where they accommodated us promptly and with the friendliest service. It is shocking that in this day and age there is no provision made for disabled people. In a world of democracy, one should expect that establishments such as yours would be very cognitive about such very sensitive issues. I would like to hear what your response to this would be...

poor food quality and preparation
This is the second time I submit this complaint. Alwso see the photos attach. The waiter was not to blame for this poor quality.The food quality was poor and sub standard, manager clearly ingnored us when complaining about the service and food. This past sunday we went to spur with a group of friends. When we got there, they had no hot chocolate. then when we ordered food, it took quite some time to come. Then when it eventually came, the rib burger with bacon that we had ordered didn't have bacon. We asked them to fix it and then they brought cold bacon. then after that they brought us a bill that had things we had not ordered. These things added up to R175.We then asked to speak to the manager and she didn't appear apologetic about the hole situation

I took my mother for supper this evening on mother's day(12/05/2019) and unfortunately it was the worst experience we've ever had a spur branch. Firstly when we arrived there was no one at the front desk or anyone tk seat us. We waited for about 10 minutes to be seated(not that big of a problem) We were then helped and our orders were taken. Two hours later.. We were still waiting for our food. Eventually I got up and approached the waiter to ask her why our food was taking so long. She then informed me that there was no rolls for the burgers. I then responded saying that she could atleast bring the other food (steak and chicken strips)... Only about 20 minutes after u spoke to her we started to receive our food. One of the orders also didn't come with the hot veggies that we ordered and we were then told that they were out of veggies too. Then as we were waiting on our drinks.. The waiter came to us to inform us that there's no ice cream and thag we could no longer have milkshakes... So we ordered regular sodas instead. As we were eating, we noticed that all the people were leaving out the back door(emergency exit) of the spur as they have now closed. So when we finished up and paid, we also walked out that door. Where we were approached by one of the waiters who was very upset about us leaving out that door but yet people have been exiting there for the past hour. Even people that was at our table exited there and had no problem. She then got very upset with me and shouted "don't come back" and this all because I explained why we walked out that door and she wouldn't understand so I responded and said "yes it's okay to be treated like this, it's not like we've received anything we've wanted here all night anyways". I honestly am so disappointed with this service as all I wanted was to spoil my mom with her favorite meal at spur. We will definitely not be returning to this spur branch.
bathrooms dirty and very disappointing

I trust that you are doing well this morning
Me and my family do make use of your spur 2 to 3 times a month and we also have a couple of parties that we attend at your spur in Lavender road, I would just like to bring under your attention your bathroom facilities.
It is not the first time that we feel this way that is why I have decided to write you an email. On Saturday 09/02/2019 we attended a birthday party at 13:00 so the restaurant was busy and it is as if there is no attention given to the hygiene in the bathroom and your extractor fans either needs to be serviced or you need bigger extractor fans, the ladies bathroom was not only dirty but it smelled foul. The same was with the men's bathroom it was filthy and did not smell very well. Even my 4 year old did not want to use your bathroom as it was disgusting. The one tap was out of order and the soap dispenser was broken and the soap was dripping into bowls that was overflowing in the woman's bathroom. I would not want to have to use another spur but we all felt that it was disappointing and I do use your facilities often and If there is little or no improvement I unfortunately will have to go somewhere else.
I hope in future this can be sorted as we do like to make use of this particular spur.
