extremely rude waitress
My family and i went for a quick breakfast on Saturday 25 February 2017 at the Tyger Valley Spur. At this point there were about 3 other tables which were occupied. We were ushered to our table and I indicated to the lady that we are in a hurry as my husband was writing an exam that morning. We could see that the lady told the waitress Lisa of our situation, after which the latter continued chatting and giggling with the other waitress.
She eventually came our direction and i flagged her down to ask if we could order since we were in a hurry... i was trying to explain to her the reason for our request after which she rudely interrupted me telling me that she was first going to attend to the gentleman next to us - who walked in at the exact same time as us. I was trying to explain that that was fine, but she again rudely interrupted me and told me that the kitchen was closed. However, she went on to take the gentleman's order.
She eventually came around and very rudely with a terrible attitude giving me dirty looks all the time. I was trying to give her my children's order after which she rudely ignored me and instead asked my son what he wanted. She never even took our drinks order.
Needless to say my husband had to leave before even finishing his breakfast. She completely ignored us and when she walked passed i asked if we could pay. We did that after which she literally threw the receipt on the table in front of me.
I am not a racist at all. in fact i have friends of different races, including white. However i have to say that this is not the first time that we as a colored family get this treatment at this branch. the difference in treatment different people receive at this branch is shocking.
The waitress Lisa needs to be attended to as her behavior could lead to huge problems for the Spur

We have been going Sunset Bay Spur for 5 years now. In the last year the services as dropped dramatically.
There is always a problem with the items being out of stock and this is even out of season.
Also we have to wait for our food coming not at the same time.
The Managers just don't care when you ask them to help you. When you book a table the table was given to someone else even if we on time.
We get seated by the manager and don't get services. Only when you confront them then they will help. The waiters will stare at you when you ask for help and just flat out ignore you and look away.
This is unexceptionable seeing we as a client pay for a service which we don't get at all.

400g rockin ribs advertised on website
My family and I attended my brothers' 7-year old daughters' birthday and this was the outcome of an upsetting evening 1. On Spur Website (I searched on Tuesday 2015/12/08) under Specials, I saw 400g RockinRibs for R89.90, with the next quote from website underneath special "Tuck into Spur's "Rockin' Ribs" special every Wednesday and add a top-up for only R24.90. 400g Spur Ribs, marinated in our new great tasting sweet sticky Spur basting." 2. At Brackenfell Spur, I informed the waiter (Manfred) that I would like to have above special for my son, his immediate response was that there is no Ribs special, only with drought of beer, that had no price on table-advertisement 3. I googled Spur Special on my cellphone and the waiter read the advertisement and still respond that the website is faulty, website was loaded wrongfully and showed me other add-ons that goes with the ribs, suddenly now he knows about a rib special, I again showed him on my cellphone that there's no other add-ons underneath Rib Special, only wording as above, he still said no and I then requested the manager 4. The Manager (Cynthia) that attended my complain is blond, but really is blond, I went through the whole explanation again as per point 3, all that she said, I will call someone for you and left 5. Then another Manager (Clinton) came, again I explained and with rudeness he said that such a special doesn't exist and blamed Spur Website who loaded Rib special, I also said to him that I'm reading what I'm reading and lets to an agreement, he refused and said no - I then informed him that I will make the necessary phone calls the next day to Call Center complaining, but with an attitude he said I can go ahead and left my table 6. I was very upset and loaded R60 airtime to my cellphone and called Call Center to complain from the branch, after 4th try, a lady Elmarie assisted me nicely throughout conversation, I had to move to the front of Spur due to music and kids playing, we couldn't hear each other 7. Elmarie (Call Center) informed me that on her side the website shows what I'm saying, but I needed to go into Terms and Conditions, I then said why, because the advertisement is there, no need for me to do that (advertisements on table also have wording, how can I go into Terms and Conditions on a piece of paper) 8. As I was speaking to Call Center above Managers' suddenly came and did something at the payment counter, Clinton was making head shakes and faces while I was speaking, I then said to Elmarie, while speaking to you, the Manager is doing this and that, he heard everything we spoke (why I say suddenly at counter) because during night he was not insight for a time (the blond Manager watched us strange through the night, as if they were gossiping) 9. After may telephonic conversation, I went back to my family, enjoying the night further with them 10. My dad ordered the 200g ribs after 19h15, but receiving it after 20h, that's fine, but he had to eat his spare rib with a butter knife, while cutting between bones, my mom had to hold the one side, after finishing his food, the waiter arrives, my dad informs the waiter of the knife situation (food completed) and I mention that when ever you serve ribs, you must provide a warm bowl of water with lemon in, nothing, now waiter turns around and disappear, looking for steak knife and water bowl, my dad cleaned his hands with serviettes 11. 20h30 my sister-in-law went for the 3rd time to ask when are they coming to sing for her 7-year old girl, 20h45 I left with my son, still no singing, just before I left, I asked the waiter for his name and he pushed, with an attitude, his name tag (on his shirt) into my face, I told him (in front of my family) that's not right, if someone asks you something, you answer, not pushing it into a persons face, that was the last of this whole perfetic, unprofessional behavior towards a client, he didn't have any respect for me 12. When we arrived at my family table, my son put an rubber egg on one (1) of our booked tables, few minutes later he and the cousins started to look for the rubber egg, nowhere, my sister-in-law asked our waiter, he says no, he doesn't know, she goes to the cooking staff (maybe on an empty plate) they said that the waiter (showing our waiter) was playing with it, she went back to him, still saying no, she informs him that the staff saw him playing with it and then he replies that he will go and fetch it, my son received it then back My parents and family is very discussed by whole situation and my parents will NEVER go there again After 21h00 last night, I had to make supper for me and my child This situation is not accepted at all and I will go all way, doing what is needed to do Please no phone call from the branch, I will not accept apologies, because what happened, never had to happen - if this is how a person gets treated, but my money is perfect, such a Branch doesn't need to exist Strange, today Thursday 2015/12/10 @ 14h30 I go onto Spur Website and Rib Special is changed? If website rib special read like now, there was no reason for me to have an argument with Brackenfell Branch and I 'm not stupid demanding for what was standing on website - another thing, all three (3) employees of the branch would have spoken to me that there's nothing standing of ribs - the whole wording is suddenly changed It doesn't matter, destroy the evidence I'm complaining about, because the Managers refused to recognize website special and kept saying Head Office loaded wording wrongfully on website, there's also enough family members to make under oath statements of what was really standing under special on website At 14h40 I phone Call Center to speak to Manager, as been already informed by Aurial from Head Office to phone me (message on my phone) 1. speak to Rocky, he's alone, nobody senior to assist me (I request to speak to Manager) - ask him how I'll be phoned back, he ask me to hold on to get my no and confirm, music plays, guess who answer thereafter, the Supervisor 'Lockstone', where does he suddenly come from, I was informed that there was no senior management, Rocky was then alone Why must I wait to receive a call from the Call Center Manager when it suits her (Spur), she's in a MEETING, message was already given to her earlier this afternoon by a lady from Head Office I forward this email to you Mr Wesley, because I'm fed up and if there's no response in the next hour, email will be forward further Thank You Patricia Munnik [protected]
insult to injury
Last October for my birthday we went to spur for supper and they kinda killed the whole birthday vibe by leaving me sat watching everyone around me eat while they not once but twice messed up my order. I left home hungrier than when I arrived, miserable because I had just experienced some of the worst service I have ever encountered in the catering industry. But they have just toped themselves. The following day I was invited back by the Manager for a meal on the house to apologize for the incident, (whenever you are in the store just ask the manger on duty to check the reference book and they will sort you out). I went back to the store this evening and was turned away like a common beggar, leaving me feeling let’s say just a little bit insulted. The manager would not even entertain the idea simply dismissing my claim as if thou I was trying to pull one over on her and sent me packing. And then when I explained that I was unhappy once again and would complain as it did not seem as thou she was performing her duties, the idea was met with the most confrontational behavior I have come across from a manager. Simple: a warm, relaxed, family-friendly environment, that’s not been my experience
don't have anyone to make food, only coffee available
I wanted to have breakfast for 7 people today, but to my loss, Spur Durbanville told me that they don't have any staff to make the food? But we are welcome to have coffee!
How is this possible? SPUR without staff?
I really think this is pathetic and need some attention as SPUR is a branded name and service like this are really putting the whole franchise in a bad light.

When my food arrived the ribs, chips and chicken was cold, I also asked my chicken to be made peri peri and it wasnt, I told the waiter and he just walked away...

Last night me, my husband and daughter of 2yrs and 6 months went out for supper at Spur! We are regular clients of Spur at the Lemon Tree and love the food but last night we decided to go to the one nearest to us wich is Spur at Brackenhurst. The food wasn't up to standard but we ate it not thinking we would be as sick as a dog! My husband, daughter and myself have runny tummies, vomiting and bad tummy cramps. I am so disappointed and discusted and upset! Thinking we would treat our child taking her to spur, instead she got sick and had to be rushed to the docter this morning! Is this what you get when you go out for supper to Spur. Should I just make a doctor's appointment before I ever go to Spur again? Pls note the food we ate was the special eat as much as you like ribs and wings. Is this on special because they give you food that has already gone off?
Managers shouting at the waitrons infront of customers in spur pinetown. Is this how horrible you treat your waitrons at Spur? A fat lady that I was told she is a manager, She was wearing a used to be white shirt shouted at the waitrons infront of us customers how is that suppose to mean to us. Firstly she was not in a good standard of being a manager judging from her attitude towards waitrons, horrible hair and dirty uniform. What happened to hygiene and worse she is the Manager.Really? How can a manager be so dirty as if she didn't even bath no man the boss of this Spur must do something about this unless it allowed. This thing of abusing a staff infront of customers must stop. Even if you always do it but don't show us customers. We are not intrested. The only thing we came here to do is to enjoy our meals and leave. We don't need to see your true colours on how you treat your staff.
had to wait forever to receive out order
I went to the Spur at Montecasino during my lunch time and specifically told the waiter that we were on lunch so that we would receive the food in time. About 40 minutes later we still did not receive the food and i noticed that the people that came in 15 minutes after we did received their food. i called the waiter and asked him where the food is and also complained about the people getting there after us and receiving their food before us, i asked for the bill of the drinks we had and he insisted we should still eat, he returned without the bill but with the food about 5 minutes later. the manager (Norman) was then called in and I explained what happened, he apologised but still, i came back to work without eating that day and spent about 55 minutes in the restuarant. definitely not good service.
I will never in my life again waste my money at a spur
To add to a similar complaint here, I would like to add some useful advise, instead of just moaning. 1. Communicate with your branches on the exact terms and conditions of your specials. Depending on which waiter you talk to, 'sharing allowed' becomes 'no sharing'... a pretty important point of the terms, but the waiters seem to do a thumbsuck on the spot...

Went for dinner at the above Spur. Ordered our meals. I ordered a 500g T-bone and was brought a 500g rump. I accepted the rump but it was about 4mm thick and the skittle it was on was so hot the steak was burnt and full of sinu, worst cut i have ever seen. The vegetables that were brought out, the spinich was hot but the pumpkin was cold. we sent it back and they reheated it in the microwave and brought it back. We ordered the kebab meal and they too were cold, sent them back they also just put it in the microwave and returned the meal. i then replaced the rump with the t-bone and the skittle was then so cold that the meat was not kept warm. this was changed but by the time the above 2 meals were sorted and put on the table my wife had already finished her meal. The drinks, ordered a gin and dry lemon and the drink was just brought out gin in a glass with no ice. The overall quality of the meal was awful, the service was terrible almost non existent. It seems that the quality of the Spur in Jhb, where we go regularly and have never had any problems, and the one above and not nearly the same. We were made to feel like we were doing something wrong for not excepting the situation.

The waitress was completely disinterested in our table, didn't clear anything, simply slapped down doggy bag boxes on the table for us to put our food into, and then rung up a wrong (higher) price. We understand if it was not her fault, but we did not even receive an apology from her. The manager was kind enough come talk to us and apologise, but the waitress made us constantly feel as if we shouldn't ask her for a thing and that we owed her something.

My wife got an SMS on 01 September 2009 to say our daughter is due for her R35 birthday discount. We went to the Burning Spear tonight and showed the card and SMS. The poor waitress tried her best, but said that the card was not activated.
We have used this card for many times. We asked the help of the male manager. He was apathetic. He said the card showed that her birthday was on 25 December, not September. The SMS was correct that her birthday is on 25 September. He simply shrugged his shoulders and said that the SMSs are often wrong. He then attended to the next customer.
We would have expected that he at least gave our 9-year-old a lucky packet or a kind explanation. He also did not offer to sort out the matter on Monday.
One of the main attractions of Spurs is that they cater for families with young children. They commit themselves when one applies for a Secret Tribe Card and they send one the card. Please attend to the bugs in the system.

I went to the Spur at Howard Centre, Pinelands yesterday to meet up with a buddy of mine, I was early, and was seated after waiting about 5 minutes in the front, fine, no hassles.
Once seated, the waitress walked past me once and greeted, and just carried on, and then my wait began. I waited 20 minutes for someone to come and offer me menu's, whilst there were 2 waiters at the till messing around with each other. Had I not been there to meet someone, I would have walked straight out!
The person I was meeting came, and we waited a further 15 minutes before I managed to get someone to bring menu's and take our order. The order was incorrect, of poor quality, lax service, took even longer for the plates to be removed, and there was no friendly interaction. This is not the quality of Spur that I've come to expect! Someone needs a bit of a wake-up call there!

This is a "full" portion of the peppermint crisp tart, I never saw this in my life, I ate the half portion just a few days ago at a different Spur and that half was bigger than this full one. I am extremely dissapointed with the product received. I can attach pictures of the food...this is not okay at all.
I bought a supper at Spur in Claremont and firstly waited an hour to be seated as well as waited an hour for my food which arrived cold and to top it off I ordered ribs and I got sick of it left Spur and couldn't stop vomiting because the ribs were fatty and cold the service was terrible and the food was cold
I'm so disgusted with the raw Chicken I received. We ordered the food and within 10 min it was on the table? All I got was not to pay for my food and a free milkshake. I wonder what will happen if I post this all over on social media

Im a bit dissapointed, we were having spur cheeseburgers and my daughter a pizza, we all have running tummys except for her. And that was the only food we had today and upset for paying 430rand and we are all sick.
