lack of accountability
In early May, someone backed into my parked car and drove away, while my co-worker watched. Today, the guy's insurance company, State Farm, told me that my damage claim was denied because: 1) their client said he didn't do it, and 2) because the witness was my co-worker and therefore isn't independent (and, by implication, is lying on my behalf). My only avenues of recourse now are to sue State Farm, or to simply eat the cost of the damage to my vehicle. Not a good situation, and a flagrant lack of accountability on the part of the company.

wrongful claim denials
State Farm customers and potential customers beware. State Farm routinely denies legitimate homeowner claims forcing customers to resort to expensive legal action to collect. State Farm and their 800 staff attorneys know most people will walk away from a denied claim because they can't afford to litigate.
Now there's hope. We are in the process of preparing a class action lawsuit against State Farm to stop them from their nefarious wrongful claim denials.

neglect of payment
My name is Tracy Wrisley and I am one of a few people who take care of a person who was hit by a drunk driver in the 80's and State Farm pays for all of her medical expenses including her in home care. In an essence I am employed by you to take care of this person to the best of my ablity. My complaint is that I am not being paid in a timely or expected manor. The arrangement has been a pay period ending every two weeks with a payment by check/money transfer on the Thursday of the week in which end of the pay period ended. Meaning time cards turned in on Monday and we as your employees should get paid Thursday each and everytime correct. Well we have no idea when to expect to be paid anymore without any notice anymore. I don't think this how you as the employer would expect to pay your employees. We don't get paid Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Monday. We are still waiting to be paid. We cannot afford to miss these checks in this day and age, if it comes to where we can't afford to put gas in our vehicles to take care of this person then some of us don't work. That puts strain on the other employees and also the victim, it also puts the victim in danger of being neglected because due to no care being able to work. We need to be paid on time and in an expected manor. I'm sure your regular agents, secretarys, and other employees due and that is exactly what we are and what we need. Thank You for your patience.
customer service & policy
My complaint with State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance is their customer service and their process of entering the wrong information. First, I decided to use the State Farm Auto Insurance because I have them for home insurance. The issues that are real problems are when they start the policy process and then don't complete them. For example, the agents take my credit card information and forget to charge my card for the insurance. Then, when I figured that was an issue. I decided to transfer to another State Farm Office that was closer to my house which was another issue because they act like no one know how to do it. Also, they dropped the ball there as well. Finally, their last mistake was contacting me regarding a wrong VIN number on my policy. Like how long did you not that was not my VIN number! I have insurance cards with the right VIN number so where did this come from all of a sudden. So, now the underwriting team doesn't want me to have any coverage! REALLY!
fire loss / insurance
I will make this quick please if you are considering or have State Farm Insurance cancel them and find someone else. I am a normal person and this could happen to you. I am a single mom with 3 children we had a fire loss on 08/20/2011. The fire was determined that a electrical shortage had ac cured. I was not at fault at all. I lost just about everything. During this time one of my kids was experiencing a health issue that was more important than any material interest. My adjuster out of Lincoln, NB not my own area was on the phone with me and while she put me on hold she made a mistake and I could still hear her line. She was making fun of me and how I cry and just a rotten human being. I immediately hung up and called State Farm's corporate office. I requested a new adjuster. This was on November 25, 2011. I spoke to the new adjuster to find out that she sits next to the first one. Now I know if your on the phone making fun of someone the person that sits next to you is aware of what's going on. I was livid. On this day I received a voicemail that stated my check was being cut and should be mailed out in the next day or two and my adjuster will explain how the depreciation works for replacement of items. Well I was still livid over the new adjuster so I wrote a letter to the WI Insurance Commissioners Office that day. On November 28, 2011 my claim was placed into SPECIAL INVESTIGATIONS UNIT. I have given them bank statements that correlate my loss along with receipts and photos. I have gone through a statement loss with my children and State Farms Attorney that they hired which was from 8am till 6pm we walked out of the attorneys office. My kids are 16, 15, 14. Now they want my tax returns for the past 4yrs.if I refuse they will deny my claim. I have not received any monies minus the $4000.00 they gave me the first week of loss. If this isn't retaliation for writing a complaint I don't know what is. The commissioners office however believes they have this right. Come on... we lost everything how are my kids punished for a letter. These people are inhumane and gross. Please cancel your State Farm Insurance or you could be me. Thank you.

I am looking for anyone who was overcharged by State Farm for homeowners insurance because of incorrect property information used to calculate replacement cost. Working on a class action lawsuit in the state of Illinois. Please email me if you think you may be someone that was overcharged. Thank you
After being a customer of State farm for over 23 years with no claim until recently and I have a similar complaint . I share your disgust and disbelief that State farm advertises its relationship with it's customers as one of a good friend. In reality they are a bully. I have also sent a letter of complaint to the Wisconsin Insurance com. Don't hold your breath this agency is in the bag with large insurance companies. I did some research and found out that State farm insurance ranks #1 in unlawfully not paying claims! Just look at what they are still doing to Katrina claims, it is a disgrace. Farmers is #2. I put my agent on notice that as soon as I have set up other insurance I will cancel all twelve of my policies with SF.
I suggest you hire an good advocate attorney and try Chubb, AMICA, ALLIANZ insurance companies these are listed as #1, 2, and 3 in paying claims.
State farm is gone from my list of trusted companies to do business with.
I don't really get what it is you think State Farm did to you? I don't see any wrong doing here.I have had State Farm for years and they are the best insurer I have ever dealt with. This is because their premiums are quite low and the service is extremely friendly! Your "bad" experience will not affect my decision to stay with State Farm either, and I would recognize this company to everyone

home owners insurance
My home was recently damaged by the tornado weather that hit North TX. Every time I talked to someone I was told different information, which is why it’s taken close to 2 months before we could get to the end of it. I had credible roofing company go out and look at the roof and though initially he had told me he had inspected other houses in my neighborhood that did not need full replacement to the roofs, he would still go out and inspect mine. To his surprise, my roof was damaged, when I scheduled the insurance to go out for the 2nd time, the claims adjuster was very abrasive and insisted there was nothing wrong with the roof. The roofer tried to show him the “soft” spots that were indication of damage but the claims adjuster told him he could NOT touch the roof but simply point. Obviously you cannot “point” at soft spots, you have to be able to touch which the claims adjuster refused to do. Needless to say, the claims adjuster stated my roof did not need to be replaced and only the few shingles that had been ripped off during the bad weather had to be replaced which would leave me with $80 after my deductible and this is after I already spent $500 replacing the fence that was torn down as well with the bad weather. I told the adjuster I did not want to proceed with filing the claim since $80 was not worth it but he told me I had no choice and the claim needs to be filed even though the previous adjuster specifically told me that I did not have to file the claim after the inspection results if I was still going to have to pay for all the repairs out of pocket, $80 was no way going to help pay for the repairs to the roof or the fence. Though this might seem like a long story, this is just the short version of what I’ve been dealing with. I will definitely be switching insurance companies, home AND car!

state farm insurance denial
On 6/30/2011 severe hail damage destroyed homes, cars and businesses in the
North Lawndale community. my home and vehicle was damaged by golf ball hail.State Farm Insurance totaled (paid off) the vehicle and agreed to pay for repair of outside lights, gutters, window screens, and porch roof. My complaint is State Farm Insurance refuse to pay for a new roof on my home with two(2) different contractors per State Farm to view the roof for damages (one contracted submitted pictures) and they both agreed the roof was damaged by the hail storm and need to be replaced.
horrible customer service
I used Rhea Baker of State Farm in Vienna Virginia for my auto insurance. I was a long time customer of hers. When it came time to add my son to my policy we needed to meet. I scheduled a meeting with Rhea only to show up at her office and have whoever was working the desk tell me she wasn't there and that person rescheduled. This happened two more times until a month went by and I was so fed up I had to switch my insurance. It took my son an extra month just to be able to drive because of Rhea Baker with State Farm and when I told her that I was switching and why she was very rude to me. I would not recommend Rhea Baker of State Farm to anybody
refuse to pay
On July 28, 2011 I was rear ended by another State Farm policy holder. My vehicle received front and rear damage as the result. My vehicle also died when I was hit. It did however restart, however the check engine light did not go out. State Farm sent my vehicle to Abra Auto Body and Glass for repairs. I Pointed out to Ray at the shop the damages including the check engine light. Ray called me a few days later indicating that the check engine light is on as a result of my cam sensors going bad.
I then received a phone call from Donna Adams of team 21, her exact words to me when I asked her why she was refusing to repair the check Engine light were quote" your vehicle has 280 thousand miles on it and that at that high mileage things will go wrong and she does not believe it was caused by the accident and that State Farm is not a bank that holds money for people to come forward for repairs" Unquote. I the asked to speak with her manager Gary Jennings, he indicated since I was a good customer and that I pay his salary he will pay for the replacement of the cam sensors. The cam sensors were replaced however the check engine light stayed on. I spoke with the Manager and Mechanic at the repair shop and they were more or less guessing what the problem was. It seemed more apparent to me that they had made a wrong diagnosis.
I called Ron Green my insurance agent, who indicated quote" State Farm will not get involved in any electrical work on my vehicle, God forbid the vehicle catches on fire and someone gets burnt or killed" unquote. Today August 22, 2011 I received a call from Gary Jennings that he has made a final decision and that State Farm is not going to repair my vehicle. He indicated that an electrical cover that harnesses several wires was broken and that his experts informed him that it could not have been caused by the accident. I made it clear to Mr Jennings that all I was asking for was for my vehicle to be returned to the same condition it was in before the accident and he refused.
I have been a State farm policy holder for 16 years with 4 vehicles, a house and 2 life insurance policies paying approximately $5000 a year times 16 is equal to $80 thousand dollars without a claim now they do not want to make a $700 repair...shame on them!
will not process claim
I got hit by a truck which was also insured through State Farm Insurance. The driver admitted fault and assured me that he would call the next morning. He never did, I call my agent to report the accident. The driver of the truck was not the owner. I have called several times without any satisfaction.

onstar
Warning! statefarm sent a letter to me to thank me for enrolling in "drive safe and save" (dss) which is contingent on having active service with on-star. this is statefarm's second attempt to get access to my on-star information and they say clearly that they want the last six month's of my driving history and a release from any liability for on-star's disclosure. the reason this information is so precious to statefarm? they will know exactly how often I exceeded the speed limit, when and where I drive my vehicle, and virtually everything they need to know to justify another increase in my premiums. [protected]@gmail.com
Very poor service. Can't get through to anyone on the phone and if you do they do not help and put you back on the phone to transfer call that never gets answered. The worst Insurance Company to call for an inquiry.
deceptive business practice
This gentleman is guilty of sub-par business practices and apparently he has is receiving kickbacks. His ability to threaten and manipulate to get what he wants far supersedes his ability to form any type of real lasting relationship. He is a liar and is not looking out for the best intentions of his homeowners, but instead, he is only out for himself and what benefits his pockets. Steer very clear of him and his dishonesty or you and your personal belongings will suffer.
I would like to second the WOW! I have been a State Farm Agent for 20 years and I have never heard anything like this. I work very hard at being the policy holders advocate, they come first. I would enjoy the opportunity to discuss your concerns in person, but without knowing who you are it is impossible to come to a resolution.
Wow! This person must be having a bad day. Not sure if he is talking about the same Tom Bond that I know. I have had Tom Bond as a agent for 16 years and have never had any problems at all.
auto claim
A State Farm insured plowed into me in an intersection in Colorado Springs 1/23/2012. She was cited at the scene. I suffered some minor injuries and my vehicle is probably totaled. I was assigned a claims agent (a useless guy) by the name of Bob Klutz [protected] ext 22080. I was given a rental car for 7 days (?). I was told on the day of the accident by State Farm that they would send out paperwork for my injuries. After I was examined by the ambulance personnel, they suggested I see a doctor since I did have injuries to my legs and a bad burn from the air bag. I did see my doctor the next day and he recommended I return in a month to make sure everything has healed properly. The week came and went with no info from State Farm, no call about my vehicle. I called on 01/30/12 because I was going to need to turn in my rental car, but I had no info about my own vehicle or any info received for a injury claim. I spoke to "Lisa" who is in Bob Klutz's area apparently and she said that someone would call me about my vehicle that day. That day came and went, no call. I called in again on 01/31/12 and Bob Klutz (first time I talked to the actual claims agent) said he would put me on hold and see who was handling my car in the "total loss" department. I was on hold for about 15 minutes and he came back to say he still had not found who was handling my claim in "total loss", could I hold a moment longer. Another 10 minutes passed and a lady came on the line and began asking me if I currently lived in Florida (?) or had ever lived in Florida (?). I said absolutely not, I was calling about an accident in Colorado. She then advised that since the woman who hit me had been a resident in Florida and recently moved to Colorado the claim had been transferred to FLORIDA. She said it was an error on their part and that she would get my claim transferred to a Colorado claims rep. She then transferred me to another person who acted like I had just called in, but assured me that they would extend the rental car for another 7 days. No one has seen my car sitting at a body shop because of this screw up. So at 4:30 pm 01/31/12 Bob Klutz (the name is becoming appropriate) leaves a message at my home number, like he has never spoken to me before, wanting to know if there is any thing he can help me with on my injury claim (WTF?). I called him this morning 02/01/12 and said, "REALLY? Do you not remember speaking to me yesterday morning and dropping me onto a Florida rep who then transferred me to someone in your office?" I have never received a single phone call or paperwork about my injuries much less about my car. Interestingly, his only response is to say that they did send the paperwork, he verified my address and said they would send it again. As I explained how frustrated and upset I am that NOTHING has been done nor has anyone called me (I have done ALL the calling and checking) and never once has anyone apologized or been empathetic. He said it would be hard to work with me since I was so hostile, OMG! His only answer to ANYTHING I brought up was that he would have someone call me, the person in "total loss", his "manager" and " just what else did I expect from him", how about start out by apologizing that I was injured, that my car may be totaled, that they have done no follow up until more than a week has passed, that someone put the claim in a Florida office. No, No not going to be customer service oriented! So I sit here again today, with no more info that I had the day their insured plowed into my car. I am left with no info and waiting for "someone" to call me back, he doesn't know when, but "someone" will call me back. Believe me I am not feeling good about this! Why does anyone wonder why there are so many lawsuits? I will give them a little more time and then I will contact a lawyer. I am suffering, mostly mentally at how this will financially impact me if they total my vehicle, there is no way that I will receive enough to replace my beautiful car. By the way the person who hit me is 90 years old...
Mom Knows Best must not have read my entire complaint. I was hit by a person who is insured by State Farm. State Farm is supposed to be handling the claim. I was not at fault in the accident.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Mom - I agree with you. SLKONE -- Why in the world would the insurer apologize to you for their customer hitting you? I have been hit by careless drivers twice in the past ten years (neither incident was my fault) and it would never have ocurred to me to expect an *apology* from the at-fault driver's insurer. So, get over yourself on this non-issue. What I DID expect was the insurer to deliver prompt, courteous service to wrap up the claims as soon as possible. On THIS issue you have gotten a raw deal! This IS a serious problem for you and one you should not be experiencing. You should call the Insurance Commissioner in your state and see what remedy they would suggest to you. They may connect you to a different person/department to deal with at State Farm or advise you to escalate the matter to a formal complaint with the state Insurance Commission right away. If you don't have an Ins. Comm. in Colorado go to the state Consumer Affairs Dept. Do NOT let this lag though - pursue it relentlessly. I don't know if there is a time limit for YOU to do something. Maybe State Farm is dragging their feet so they can say YOU failed to return paperwork or something similar to avoid responsibility. Don't let that happen!
overinsured homeowner for personal profit
Upon homeowners request to provide an Umbrella insurance policy and revisit homeowners insurance amount, Agent Tom Dolan put personal profit interests over his fiduciary responsibility and insured the homeowner for 2x the home's replacement value. This enabled him to pocket excess insurance fees for an extended period of time. It represents gross violation of his client's trust and reflects poorly on his professional integrity.
State Farm Underwriting requires that agents complete a home replacement estimate on a 360 program. The 360 program is only a tool and may not reflect the actual replacement value of your home. State Farm will usually accept another estimate if you feel your home is worth less. Remember, replacement value is always your decision. Even if your home was insured for double the value, the agent earns 15% of the additional value. There really isn't a lot of incentive to do so maliciously, even if the premium is double. Most insurance agents in the country are undervaluing homes to make the price more attractive to the client. The best thing to do is have your home professionaly estimated by someone like Castle Inspection Group. They will give you an accurate dwelling replacement cost, and then you can have piece of mind knowing you are insured properly.
will not honor his contracts

The person posting this is Jeff DePaola who operates a management company in Summit County Colorado. I entered into a management contract personally, having nothing to do with my State Farm agency that his comments have maliciously been posted. He has NEVER purchased a policy or a contract from me. He has severely underperformed the duties of our contract and has is using the public like he has in the past. Please review ALL the complaints on his business ethics on this site for Rocky Mountian Management in Colorado. Also, check out the complaints filed with the Colorado Better Business Bureau. Ironically, this post has helped business as folks in small town Moberly, Mo. know my 32 years of customer service to clients. By the way Jeff, State Farm's legal department will be visiting with you for this comment that is unfounded and intentional slander against them as a company. This is and will continue to be a personal matter and personal contract that my partner (a local bank owner) will deal with you on in another setting. Thanks to my local economical development office to email me: "thought you might want to address or have this senseless crap removed." People know me and I address issues front and center. I appreciate the opportuntiy to respond to a comment made by a person that wants retailation for his own inadequate business behavior.
rudeness, refusal to supply requested information, failure to adequately work with insured
My son had an auto accident several days ago at an intersection in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. No officers were called to the scene and the driver of the other vehicle insisted that the police not be called and she said she just wanted to exchange insurance information and leave to the scene. When speaking with our insurance company's adjuster, my son gave his account of the events that transpired. The adjuster, Gilberto, indicated that after hearing my son's side of the story, he indicated that this matter would probably be handled by a mediator as it seemed unclear as to who would be at fault and possibly my son would not be held accountable. Gilberto indicated that since there were no independent witnesses to the accident and that there were no injuries sustained, and that this was basically just a fender bender, we should just take our vehicle to an authorized dealer to be repaired. Several hours later, we were contacted by Gilberto advising that my son was at fault, that the driver of the other vehicle had made a statement and that the "witness" had been spoken to as well. When I called back to inquire as to the "witness, " I informed Gilberto that there were no witnesses who came forward, nobody stopped at the scene to give a name, get our phone numbers, etc. and that the woman left the scene without the police or any third party being involved. I advised him that perhaps the other driver had a "friend" call and state that she was a witness - since there is no other way someone would have known the other driver's insurance company name in order to make such a call. Gilberto was extremely rude and accused me of "trying to protect my son" by making up stories. I advised Gilberto as to what my son indicated was the story and asked him to read to me the statement that my son gave. He told me that that was personal information that could not be released. When I advised him that my agent informed me that since I was an insured on the policy I was to have all access to the same information that my son had. He then acquiesced and read me the statement. When the statement he read matched what my son told me, with some minor differences that Gilberto failed to mention, I asked him to repeat it to me again so I could show him that my son was not "lying to me" as Gilberto had suggested. Gilberto refused, told me he had nothing further to say to me, and refused to let me speak with someone else who could read me the statement. He also refused to fax or email me the statement so I could read it for myself. He told me he had nothing else to say to me. I wanted to make sure he understood that there was no "witness." I don't understand how an insurance adjuster that is working for us could be so rude, could make such a quick decision as to who was at fault based upon an alleged "witness" and no photographs of the damaged vehicle. My son was probably at fault and I let him know that I felt that way - but how could he just believe this supposed "witness, " never see any photographs, refuse to give me the information I was requesting and threaten to hang up the phone on my which he did several times. This is our insurance adjuster - not the other driver's. He also advised that the woman is claiming injuries now, when he initially advised that there no injuries sustained. This was a fender bender where my son was going between 2 to 5 miles per hour. He was stopped at a red light. When I tried to advise Gilberto that they needed to defend this claim vigorously before paying out big buck for this bogus bodily injury claim - he told me he had nothing further to say to me. He was extremely rude and I could not believe that he would not give me the information to which I am entitled.

horrible way to do business
I have my payments coming out of the checking account automatically and to secure that my insurance would be paid on time. For a year I paid for a car not moving full price, I finally got anther, and it broke down, too.
Therefore, I cancel it and then I got another car and I asked how it would cost me to reinstate my insurance. They gave the amount and it was to go towards the car insurance and they put it somewhere else and then said I needed to pay more for their mistake. The said someone did not put a note so I much pay for his or her mistake. I could deal with them no more. I kept going in and asking what I thought was the right questions. However, I still did not get the right answers. I was a very unhappy customer. Because they had the power to do what they wanted because they have most customers out of all the insurance companies so all I was - was a number so what that is the way the ball bounces when you the big dog on the block. Who cares because I can find another sucker just you like is the way they made me feel.
What they didn’t know is that I had made arrangements for the insurance to come out of an account that only carried enough to keep the account open for the insurance to come out of the account each month. So when they decided to change the amount without before letting me know it bounced costing me. That is not the way to do business. What their problem in the head office!
I had renters insurance with State Farm for a little over a year. Going into my second year with them I had a minor fire in my apartment. It was minor because I owned a fire extinguisher and even at 2:00 a.m.; instinctively use it! When I took out my policy I asked for a "Replacement Coverage Police" and was assured that was what I was paying for. However with the fire I was told they have no such policy and given no satisfactory explanation for their outright lie when selling me the policy. My actual loss was $3500.00; they paid $2100.00; and $1900.00 of that was for cleaning! I had to clean & restore the apartment myself in order to have the funds to replace what I loss! On top of their lie & underpayment; they canceled my policy & didn't even inform me! Due to the way they've done business with me all my friends and family have pulled their policies. Good Neighbor my ###!
denial of roof hail damage
I have been using State Farm for my car and home for over 12 years. In the spring, our area experienced a freak storm with hail the size of golfballs.
After the storm, I checked the house for damage and found chunks of siding taken out. I contacted State Farm who sent an adjuster out. He was able to get on my porch roof and found damage but could not get onto the house roof.
Another adjuster was sent out who tried to say the damage to the siding was a result of children playing ball in the neighborhood (appalling since I live on an elevation, very close to my neighbor's house and no children in the area). I denied this and he finally said he would replace our siding. He also found damage to the roof's ridge vent and siding but none to the roof.
I obtained a contractor who found hail damage to our roof. He sent photos to State Farm who eventually sent another adjuster out. This adjuster found damage to the gutters but none to the roof. My contractor was present and pointed out the damage. The adjuster told my agent's office that their was "scuffing on the roof due to people walking on it". This was preposterous since only the State Farm adjusters and my contractor was the only ones on my roof ever - and they wore special boots.
So, to sum it up, according to State Farm, there was damage to my siding, gutters, ridge vent and my car, but miraculously none to my roof. Despite black streaking that appeared immediately after the storm and proof from my contractor. Every single house in my entire neighborhood has had a new roof put on except me.
During the whole process, State Farm adjusters, my agent's office and customer service all had conflicting stories. State Farm also sent me the wrong amount for what they did cover. I spent most of a day on the phone with an incompetent customer service representative who finally sent me another check.
I am extremely discouraged by the treatment I have received from State Farm and will be switching to another insurance company. State Farm is far from a "good neighbor".
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
The black spotting on your roof is called pitting and is not related to hail damage. Depending upon the age of your roof, you may or may not have had hail damage. Hail will cause a bruise on the roof and usually dents the softer metals first. Beware of storm chasers too...also insurance doesn't cover neighboritis
home owners ins
I contacted Agent Jason Jones< about auto and home owners Ins. Who then intern, state that he would come to my home to talk with me about the Ins, Mr. Jones made an appointment with me and set a date and time. I then told Mr. Jones that my home needed a roof, he said he would look at it when he came out. Mr. Jones came to my home look at the property an stated that once I get the roof and front steps repaired he could Insure my home. I called Mr. Jones when I had the roof and the steps finish, he came and look at it and said we can Insure your home now. I the waited about a week to go into the office to take care of the Ins. He never stated that my garage had to be painted. The first problem came when they sent a cancellation notice for my auto, saying if I did not pay 141.00 that my auto Ins, would be cancelled. Now mind you I paid the first two months when I went into the office by credit card, the lady claim it came back IS-Funds, who treated me like it was my problem. affair that matter was cleared up. I paid 869.00 for home owner Ins for a year. now they are saying because my garage is not painted my home owner Ins would be cancelled I live in Michigan the temp now 50% in the day and 40 % and below at night there is no way paint will stick to any kind of wood at these temperature.
