Gift Card Fraud
I bought a Steve Madden gift card as a gift for Christmas but checked to make sure they had a retail store near me first. I found the Atlanta stroe on the Steve Madden website so I ordered the gift certificate. When the recipient and I went to the store we found that it was closed. When we inquired at the mall we were told a new store opening had been delayed indefinately. When we called customer service they said no refund and it could not be used online. It can only be used at a retail store. The nearest store is now 400 miles away. When we told them the store listed on their web site was closed they said they we're "sorry". Sounds like fraud to me to not provide a refund after misleading information is provided to make a sale.
The gift recipient contacted Andrew per his message above and he was true to his word. The recipient is in the process of arranging for an online purchase using the gift card. Andrew's staff has been very helpful and we are confident the issue will be resolved favorably. This is my first experience with Steve Madden and I am impressed with their responsiveness and customer focus following a potentially negative incident.

OMG Shoes STINK!
I bought a pair of Steve Madden shoes. Awesome fit and style, but after a day of wearing them I had the worst smell emitting from the shoes.
Cant even begin to explain, kind of mixed between dead crap and chemical. So bad that after scrubing my feet with sea salt I can still smell it the next day through my normal shoes. So I will return these odor shoes.

And did they take them back? Usually stores wont take back worn shoes unless you throw a fit.
New shoe and used shoe
I ordered 3 pair of steve madden shoes from online. I excited that they shipped really quick. However, when i opened the last box of shoes and took them out, i had one shoe that was dark purple suede and pretty like it was supposed to be, the other shoe looked as if it was left outside in 100 degree heat all summer and was really faded. I was shock that they would even send them to me. It was a major difference and you could tell. When i called to complain, they let me know that i could return them but they were not in stock so i would have to get a refund. I'm really upset because i was supposed to wear them this weekend in a wedding... :(

Let me guess: the faded shoe was the right shoe? They sold you the floor model from a store. The Steve Madden website is filled from the stores' inventories, and the people at the store chose to send you damaged material instead of saying it was damaged and they couldn't sell it. The reason is because whenever they mark an internet sale as damaged they don't get bonus. It's a stupid system.
Bad experience
I ordered a pair of back-ordered Steve Madden boots from Nordstrom online. They were expected to ship about two weeks after I placed the order but, rather, on that date I was notified of a delay. About a week later I called to speak w/ a customer service rep. who told me they would ship that Saturday. Saturday I received a voicemail suggesting a different product. I called and was informed that they wouldn't be able to fulfill my order because they weren't getting anymore of the boots I had already ordered a month earlier! I was furious and extremely disappointed. They simply said they were sorry and did nothing to make up for the inconvenience. I have NEVER experienced such bull, especially not from somewhere with such a great reputation for service.

Isn't your complaint with Nordies and not SM?
Horrible service
I ordered a pair of shoes from the Steve Madden website size 6 1/2 and when I got them the box was not even taped closed, then I saw the right shoe was used and a size 7. So I called the customer service number 1-888-SMADDEN and tried to get them to fix the problem, they said I would have to place another order and charge my card again, and the refund from the initial order would come later, I'm sorry but if I can't even trust you to send me an unused shoe I'm not giving you more money. If I had screwed up that badly I would bend over backwards to fix the problem not push the responsibilty to the customer.

I bought a pair of shoes from their USA store and the lady in store told me the warrenty is for a yr and valid anywhere in world. 6 months later the upper portion of the shoe is falling apart with all kind of cracks and it seems the leather is coming off. Took them to a Canadian Steve Madden store and was told the USA warranty is not valid in canada. WHAT THE HELL... I I will have to deal with somebody in USA. Very disappointed with their quality and they ask top dollars for a crapy shoe quality..
hope fully somebody @ Steve Madden reads it and would her the courtesy to get in touch with me.
DO NOT ORDER SHOES ONLINE FROM STEVE MADDEN. THEY WILL SCREW IT UP EVERY SINGLE TIME. i have ordered 3 pairs of shoes from their website and had to return ALL of them. The first one, one shoe was bigger than the other. Lovely. the second shoe was the right size but it didn't fit. When i returned it at the store the sales associate said, "yah, these shoes run small and you need to order it at least 1 size bigger." Would have been nice to know before ordering the shoe. Stevemadden.com did not mention that, of course. The 3rd shoe was and continues to be a nightmare. I ordered the FACCER mens shoe as it was called online and received a shoe that looked nothing like it. The customer service rep sent me a UPS label to return the shoe, then quikcly tried to resolve the issue by having the correct shoe sent to me. He said it would take a week to receive the replacement. I thought, if YOU made the mistake, why should I wait another week to get the replacement. Anyway, received the replacement 1 week later and its the WRONG shoe AGAIN! So I called their customer service and the manager told me they made a mistake in naming their shoes online, so i received the correct shoe, but it wasn't the one i ordered because they mixed up the names on their website. ARE YOU SERIOUS? So, why didn't anyone mention this to me the first time around? And you have the nerve to ask me if i want to return it. What do you think? You sent me a hideous pair of shoes that i did not order. Of course i want to return it. It is now 2 days before Christmas and I have to now scramble to find a replacement gift then battle Holiday mall traffic and wait in a ridiculous line to return the 2nd pair of incorrect shoes received.
This company is unprofessional in every sense of the word. 3rd times the charm, i will never again purchase a pair of Steve Madden Shoes, and i hope for your sanity that you wont either.
Broken Shoe
I purchased a pair of Steve Madden sandals in May of 2008 in Tampa, Florida. When I wore the shoes this year the heel of the shoe broke. I love Steve Madden shoes and I don't this to effect me purchasing these shoes in the furture. Can someone please contact me in regards to this matter. Thanks, D. W.

I am a 23 year old consumer. Just recently however, I've purchased shoes from Steve Madden. These were leather shoes by the way. After a couple of days of wearing, it was beginning to smell. It had a really bad odor from the leather. I never had a problem with the smell of my feet, so it was apparently the smell of the leather that arose. I've changed the foot padding and such and nothing seem to work. Not only did my shoes smell, my father purchased the same one's recently as well from Steve Madden, and he's having the same problem.
I suggest that Steven Madden do some research about the material used to make their shoes. And why the leather smells horribly after a few days of wear.

My shoes are elastic woven, and it is not the insoles, it is the elastic material. I had them in a window for a week, and they still smell. It is sickening.
My account had several holds for online purchase
I had purchased three pairs of shoes from Steve Madden online for a total of $95.29, including s&h. A day later, they shipped out one pair. Later that day, the other two pairs were shipped out. I then check my bank account online only to find out they have two holds on my account, one for $95.29 and another for $57.00. I call customer support to figure out the issue. They tell me that The company has to put these holds on your account to insure the funds are available for payment. The $57 hold is for the two pair of shoes shipped out together. And then the customer support rep tells me my account will have ANOTHER hold of $32 dollars or so for the 2nd shipment. Why on earth do they need to put all these holds on my account, I never got a straight answer, since it was some Indian people who kept answering the phones...WTF?!? Can't anyone in America speak English anymore...no! ...not spanglish...ENGLISH please! So anyhow the customer rep tells me the $95 hold will not authorize but will be removed once the $32 charge hits my account. Unfortunately b-c of all these holds Steve madden had on my bank account, my account was NSF. My bank then charged me and OD fee...this is just not right. Why on earth did Steve Madden need to put all these holds on my account. So I tried calling customer support AGAIN to complain, only for them to tell me that "that is just how our system works." What a great answer...To me this does not seem legal. The company put almost $150 in holds on my checking account, even though my order was only for roughly $95 dollars...
Bad service
I went to Steve Madden to buy a comfortable pair of work shoes. I tried some on and bought them. The first and only day I wore them I ended up walking barefoot through the streets of DC because I could not stand to take another step in them. My feet were bleeding. I noticed after wearing them for the first and only day that the seams were fraying so I...

On April 21, 2008 I placed an order online for a pair of boots. I finally received them on May 2, 2008. I opened the package and to my disappointment they were size 10 and I ordered a size 8. I thought oh well I will just contact customer service have them take these boots back and then I will get the ones I paid for. This is what I was told:
I need to package the boots up at my expense and have them shipped back also at my expense. They will then send me the boots I originally ordered or refund my money. The part that I really thought was unprofessional was that I will not be reimbursed for the shipping fees. Like I said to the lady on the phone I can totally understand this IF I just didn't like the boots and wanted a refund but the fact that I have to pay even more because their staff sent the wrong order is unbelievable to me. I am extremely unimpressed with the services the company provides and while its only a little pair of boots to them Iit really left me sour.

Purchased a pair of size 8.5 M women’s combat boots from Nordstrom rack in Brandon FL for $65 for my daughter December 13th 2022. By April 3rd 2023 the soles had entirely come apart and the metal holding the soles together protruded out.
Nordstrom rack advised that we reach out to Steve Madden who advised we contact Nordstrom rack.
I purchased two pairs of Steve Madden women maxima's, black and green, and each were $100. Both shoes have cracks on the soles that are allowing my feet to get wet if it'sraining. I'm not much of a sneaker person, thus the pair are not worn much and the sole is not worn down. Since both pair are cracking, it is obviously a manufacturer defect.
Purchased a pair of Limit black boots online as a xmas present. The boots don't fit and the recipient can't even exchange them because they were bought "on clearance"! They wouldn't even give store credit! Now my daughter has no xmas gift and I am out $80.
This shoe did not last at all. I wore them maybe like 10 times and it felt uncomfortable I looked underneath the padded sole and the whole interior lift had broken down I guess that’s why they are called cool planet they are made from recycled items but never did I think I’m 10 uses it will fall apart so unhappy. I just threw them away.
I bought a bag 3 months ago and I have visited store 2 times still they fail to resolve the issue. Next time I will not purchased a single product from Steve Madden. Very sorry to say in terms of quality is not up to the mark's.
Bought purse and snake print sneakers for birthday outing. Paid for 2 day shipping, purse did not arrive until a week later. After 3 days with purse strap broke sent an email to SM with pics and questions and did not get a response. The products are terribly made and over priced. $89.00 purse, $15 shipping and neither was fulfilled correctly.
I have three product that are bad from the zipper but one is already replaced this is something from this expecific brand what can I do
Purchased these shoes in September 2017. Within a week of wearing all the white trim started to chip. My daughter stopped wearing them. Very disappointed with the quality. Complete waste of money.

It doesn't sound like an instance of fraud to me. However, you don't have to be completely out on this one. Selling gift cards on ebay nets you very, very close to what the original giftcard is worth. Yes, you'll be out a few bucks, and it's a bit of a hassle, but it's better than holding onto a giftcard you'll likely never use if it was a significant amount. You could always re-gift next year too- to someone who lives closer to a store. I'd make sure they had physically been inside one that is close to them before sending it.
