Chevron credit card payment problems
I am a 30 year Chevron Card holder. I have never experienced any problems loging on to the Chevron bill pay account until Synchrony took over Chevron Gas Credit card accounts in March 2021.
When Synchrony started managing Chevron accounts I have had nothing but problems!
although I have called monthly, every time i try to pay my bill, NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO REMEDY THE ISSUE.
The problem is:
1. Synchrony will not let me log in and gives an error message "we have encountered a system error. Please navigate back to the log in page and try again" Note: It does NOT SAY my user name and/or password are incorrect.
2. Synchrony must know this is a problem as I googled it and found go arounds to the issue, blogs and complaints. My irate call log alone should be enough to trigger further investigation but it has not. Synchrony simply doesn't care and will not escalate the problem.
3. Synchrony's response was, "there could be phantom spaces or characters that keep you from logging in. Enter the log in manually." I tried this it did not work. I can try logging in 30 times in a row with the same response. Some times I am able to pay as guest, other times i get the same error response.
Today, after encountering the same problem yesterday, the site let me log in with no issues! I was on the phone with tech support when this happened and I DID NOTHING DIFFERENT TO LOG IN!
btw...cookies are enabled, wether i enter my info via auto fill or manually the failure is the same. This is clearly an issue on Synchrony's part for which they care little about. Afterall, it is in a credit card's best interest to lower your credit score for late payment, raise your interest rate and charge a late fee! Why would Synchrony fix this problem?

I have excellent credit. I do not need the monthly frustration blamed on me when is clearly a glitch in SYNCHRONY'S SYSTEM! I will never use a credit card again that is affiliated with Synchrony Bank!
I have applied for a Shell Credit card and will start using it exclusively upon arrival.

Late fee charged from my rooms to go synchrony credit card account.
I was sent a message saying my payment was due. I assumed it was a mistake since I have auto payment through my bank. Something told me to call. I spoke to a representative and she told my payment was late. I explained to her I have auto draft and shouldn’t have a late fee. She said on her side it was late. I asked her to remove it. She said she can. Then I asked her how many other late fee did I have. She replied one other from another month. I asked her to remove that as well. She said she could only remove one. As I speak to her I’m looking at my chase bill pay to see what could be going on. Well it has been to holiday for the last month. However my payment was sent on time they didn’t get it til after the due date because of the holiday. I tried explaining that to her and she still couldn’t help me. I asked to speak to the manager and he was unwilling to look into the matter.

Value city furniture
I am extremely upset. I had an account with Value City Furniture through Synchrony Bank. I opened the account last year and was going to use it again later in the future but log-in to check my balance just to see that it is closed! I did not authorize the account to be closed! I called and spoke with a wonderful Representative who stated that they "supposedly" emailed me and sent me a letter on...yesterday 7/5/22 - never received either methods of notification. He couldn't inform me of why my account was closed when everything is in good standing and offers that I can reapply. No, I am not reapplying. Something has to be done because I am reading of more and more customers who are experiencing the same misfortune as myself. I am concerned on how this will impact my credit score and credit report. Any suggestions helps!

Credit mix of cards
I kept getting notification to increase my credit lines with your bank. I had 11 cards totaling 49k. I have a 1 percent utilization rate and a score of 720. I was told my accounts - all of them are bing closed for high risk. I make over 265k a year and have zero balances and use my cards and pay them before the due date. I am requesting that my care credit account be reopened since that card is the most beneficial for me. I careless about the store cards.
Desired outcome: Reopen care credit at same terms and limit.
Accounts with payments via Synchrony.
I'm sorry to say I have closed any accounts with payments that are handled by Synchrony Bank. This will include all 4 of my Citi-Bank cards, Costco, Care Credit, Best Buy, and any other accounts which I have had for several years with NO problems until payments were changed to be made via Synchrony. The level of customer service, knowledge and inability to understand what they are saying is beyond comprehension. They have taken payments which my bank has listed as pending, but because THEY entered incorrect info on their end, (usually the routing or bank account number), the payment stays in limbo for a week to 10 days, which if the due date is exceeded, reaps a $40 late fee added on! I have had to follow up to get the payment where it needs to be, deal with personnel in India who are rude, unable to comprehend and just plain useless, and in some cases have repeated the same original problem once discussed! Evidently they don't know the difference between "APPLYING" funds (AKA payments! to the account") and cancelling the payment from the account, which in some instances they repeat! And as another issue, is WHO they are talking to. God forbid you have both husband and wife cards as then then won't talk to you or make changes for the other card/person. Is this worth the money these companies save by engaging with cut rate foreigners or doing things correctly and keeping your CUSTOMER base?

This back and forth is crazy and I do not understand. I called many many times (Jessica, Susie, Brendell, Rochelle) with the understanding it would take 90 days to correct. It still has not been corrected and my last call on 4/26/2022 (Becky, Tracie) produced the same results. You keep saying you will correct the problem yet it never happens.
Desired outcome: Please refund my account. You made an error in duplicating a charge and it needs to be corrected. See attached spread sheet for your review. Please review all records associated with my account and fix the problem.
Synchrony Bank Closed my accounts
Same as other people, paid off accounts that were in good standing, used only enough to keep them active, closed tanking my score. Customer service is no help. Any time I make payments to my equipment financing they lower my credit limit even tho the payments on time. I cannot believe this is legal for them to do and making it harder for me to do business.
Desired outcome: Restore credit or make it so history is not removed thus tanking my score.
Customer Service at Synchrony Bank
I was attempting to stop the 9th credit application in my name from stolen identity. I had actually called synchrony regarding ANOTHER card application a few days earlier. That went fine. The first person I spoke to asked for my name. I gave it. They asked for my card number. I don't have it. So, she asked for my social security number. I am NOT giving that out over the phone. She said, "I cannot help you" and almost hung up. I frantically asked for her supervisor. When I brought up the issue of being asked for my social security number, the guy said she would have asked fo a reference. I said that she didn't. And he got angry with me telling me that I was arguing on purpose.
Desired outcome: I want them to have a different method of helping victims of fraud. To train their employees in how to help fraud victims. To not use insulting words to already stressed people. It's not their money.
Synchrony Bank Premiere Mastercard
I applied for the Synchrony Premiere Mastercard recently because they offered a $100 reward when you make a minimum $1000 purchase during the first three months of the new card. I tried make a $1000 purchase today and the transaction was denied several times despite calling Synchrony each time it was denied to get them resolve. They told me each time I called, it was resolved and said I could go ahead and make the charge. The last call I was directed to the security department, sent me a text message with a link to verify my identity which I did with no problem. And it still got denied again. So it was denied 4 times in total within an hour! After the last call and transaction denial, I'd decided to use another credit card instead (which defeats the whole purpose of getting this Synchrony card in the first place) to make the charge as I was too embarrass and frustrated to even bother to make another try with Synchrony.
I called Synchrony after that to make a complain and spoke to the fraud manager (Jasmine). She said that in order to service the card (which I never could use mind you), I'd to record a video of myself AND submit a copy of a photo id. What? This in addition to after going through those security checks they had asked me to do earlier? No bank credit cards I'd ever had through my lifetime had ask me to do that.
I'm very upset with Synchrony with this. Not only I couldn't get the $100 reward after all, I went through the trouble of applying and get a ding on my credit score for no reason. Had I known they are so incompetent, I could have applied for a chase reward card instead.
Desired outcome: Synchrony should compensate me with the $100 reward due to this.

A few years ago I took a loan from Synchrony thru PayPal credit, which I added my bank account for the monthly payments of $59. In the year 2020 I had a huge disagreement with PayPal and decided to not deal with them anymore. In the meantime they still debited my bank account for the monthly payment. Three months ago I closed this bank account, and I called Synchrony bank just before May due date to alert them that the bank account is closed, and I need to add a new bank account, but they told me that the only way to do this is by logging in into my PayPal account, which I then found out that I can't even do it, as PayPal gives me an error massage every time I try to log in. So I paid the monthly payment thru synchrony phone system, but later I found out that they still tried to debit my closed bank account, even after I reported it as closed, and they also charged me a late fee, even after I paid on-time. I than missed June's payment as I'm used to get all my bills and monthly payment paid automatically as I'm very busy running my business. I then I received an alert that I owe them $175 which includes the missing payment, next month's payment, and 2 late fees. Today I called them to inquire about the new amount owed, and that's when I found out that they charged me late fee for last month, even though I paid it on-time. They than informed me that they will credit me last month's penalty, but I still need to pay it! They mentioned that they will credit it to my total balance. I keep trying to explain that this late fee is not valid even by their admission, but they insist for me to pay it now in order to get it credited later. I have no problem with paying it, as it's not a life changing amount, even though it's not fair, but my problem is that they can use it against me by reporting this alleged late payment to the credit bureaus as by me paying this late fee, it can be seen as admission to a late payment that didn't exist!
Synchrony bank are the ones who keep harassing me on the phone and emails regarding the single late payment, but when I asked them to see my statements, they refused and informed me that the only way to see it is by logging into PayPal, and I also can't add a bank account to the auto pay with them directly. They make their own rules as they see fit, I can pay them the "PayPal's Credit loan" monthly payments directly, but not allowed to see my statements or add an auto pay unless I log into my PayPal account. I really need help dealing with this injustice!
CLOSED 5+ year account in GOOD standing
After 5+ years of good standing with my Care Credit account that carried >5% balance at any time, Synchrony closed my account based on an "updated credit report" but the credit they pulled was NOT MINE. I checked my Transunion score and Experian against the "score" they provided as reasoning for closing my account and there is a nearly 200 point difference. I am extremely unhappy with how this has played out, and I see it has happened to hundreds of others.

Lowering my credit limit without just cause
On june 14 2022synchrony bank lowered my credit limit by over 4300.00 hundred dollars on my lowes credit card with out even telling me this was going to happen I was never late and never miss a payment but my credit usage went up by 5 % and my fico dropped by 47 points. I was trying to get a refi loan for 80 thousand everything was going great tillthey pulled my credit for the second time saw this and turn me down the blame laids soley with with synchrony bank. I have spoken to a lawyer and will be meeting with him on friday june 17at 10 am
Desired outcome: The only outcome is to restore my credit limit so i can get my refi loan
TJX MasterCard
Synchrony Bank is the absolute worst. Their customer service and account managers are smug, rude and condescending. I was a TJX rewards card holder with Synchrony for 6 years - never missed a payment. These people are vindictive, dirty and dishonest. They closed my account three times in the past - purposefully trying to hurt my credit score - because every time I requested a card by mail it never showed up. When I called to let them know the card never showed up they closed my account.
Recently my wife and I were at an out of town event and needed this credit card to purchase from vendors that did not take cash and found out the account was closed again - without warning. After calling in to find out the issue they said they closed me account and were not interested in working with me as a customer. The reason they stated was because I made an attempt to pay down my balance two weeks before it was due so I could then use the card to make an expensive online purchase I needed. The purchase was time sensitive so we waited and kept checking our account to see if the payment was processed. There was no sign of the payment going through and we received no notices so I tried again - which turned out to double my payment amount so our bank rejected it. Because of this - trying to pay down a balance that was not due and had already been paid - they closed my account.
This bank clearly does NOT care about its reputation and shows no interest in growing or retaining a customer base. Sad. Synchrony share holders should be gravely concerned as well as its partners - Mastercard and TJX Companies.
Desired outcome: They can keep their useless credit card products. A change in leadership is the only thing that might save them. A cursory search of Synchrony Bank online reveals thousands of complaints and 1-star reviews.
Paypal Credit Card
I have had the account in question for years. My credit limit has gone up and I have made payments always ahead of time and always for more then the amount due. After years with Paypal credit card run by Synchrony Bank on May 1st they closed my account. I had over $3,700 dollars in reward money that I had been accruing since I first opened the card. When I contacted the company they said there is no answer as to why my account was closed. I asked for it to be reopened and was denied. I then asked for my money to be sent to me and they said no. This was 100 percent their way of not having to pay me. Kept saying to me that a letter was sent and when I got letter it made no sense.

Complaint
When My furnace stopped working, I consulted Colorado Discount Heating and Cooling. They installed my Furnace, and I signed a Home Improvement Agreement invoice. I was made to understand that the payments were going to go through a service called Synchrony Bank. What Colorado Discount failed to mention was the purchase interest charges appearing monthly in addition to each of my payments.
After just two payments, synchrony Bank has debited from my account, a total of $95.65 in purchase interest charges. They've also increased my monthly payments from $266 to $294 because I requested that they accept my payments on the 20th of each month rather than the 13th. They also charged $28.00 for a late payment of one day.
Desired outcome: The desired outcome is to no longer have these purchase interest charges, and for the monthly payment amount to revert back to the $266 as outlined in the contract.
Takes forever to close account
My 12 month cd matured yesterday. I am trying to get it closed and have the money transferred by ACH to an external account. They are telling me it will take 7 to 10 business days to close my account because they are so backlogged with accounts being closed. Then they say it will take 2 to 3 days for the money to transfer into my external account. A total of 13 business days...over 2 1/2 weeks to get my money! Other institutes take a total of 2 business days! i have 3 more CDs with Synchrony...after they mature, never again! This is ridiculous!
Desired outcome: I wanted them to expediate sending my money, but they say itis impossible.
I submitted a complaint yesterday about Synchrony telling me it could take up to 10 business days to close my CD and 2 to 3 days to get it to my bank. I am happy to say that my account has been closed and the money transferred within 2 days! i am very happy with them but do not know how to take back my previous claim.

Synchrony Credit Card has very poor customer service! About 2 months ago, I was making 3-4 payments on my card, which sent up a red flag to them because "I might be money laundering". At that point, they would deduct the money out of my account but held my payments (to credit to my account) for 10-12 days. When I called to ask how I could get payments to them faster, they told me I could use my debit card. I then added my debit card to my payment options and proceeded to make payments...4 to be exact over a couple day period. They then put the payment back on my credit card and rejected it stating that a debit card payment could only be called in. Okay, I then made the correction and made the payments on their automated call system. When it STILL wasn't taking my payments, I called again. Now, they were holding my payments for 21days because of the returns. Frustrating is not even the word I would use at this point! I checked my account in the morning only to find out that they had closed my account because of the returns! Seriously? I've always, to my own fault, I guess, paid waaaay before the due date, possibly paying too much! Never been late on a payment, have been an excellent customer for years, and they say there's nothing they can do...just closed. I, myself, am a business owner and would never treat my customers as such. But why would they care...I'm only a small fish in their big pond. [censored]ty customer service!

This company is CRIMINAL. Closed my Fanatics card with no notice. Was never late, had a zero balance. Apparently I'm a high risk of failure to pay and I don't own real estate, so I am not worthy to be involved with this prestigious bank. I have never missed a payment on anything of theirs and this card was open because I needed the $0 balance to help me. The handful of times I used it, I ALWAYS paid on time. They said they can legally do this and refuse to reopen my account. I believe this should be against the law. If I was such a risk, why did they approve me in the first place? DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH SYNCHRONY. They will screw your credit up and screw your life up. I'm calling a lawyer.

Savings Withdrawal
We requested a funds transfer out of Synchrony Bank to Chase Bank on 5/16/2022. The reference # is 7854268. Today is May 20, 2022. It did not happen. When I called about the status of my request and spoke to a supervisor - he advised they are backed up. Zack also advised he cannot guarantee me when the transaction will take place.
Your service levels say that an ACH takes 3-4 days. Not only are you running late - but you cannot tell me when the ACH will take place.
I requested expedited service to no avail. Advised my transaction is in pending status without any indication of further action or timeframes
This is horrible service.
What can be done?
