I am a professional woman and have been writting checks for many years and I have never come across the problems that I am having with this company. I go to the store and put my grocerys on the counter and after everything is up on counter and i hand my check to the cashier, she says that she is sorry but my check is not going thru, and gives me the number to call. I call the number and i have a gentelman tell me that the check is suspicious and that i have to wait 7 days and i can try again and that there are no garentees that the check will go thru.. I have to wait 7 days to get my grocerys, that is abousolutly absurd. how do you tell your family to wait 7 days for food?

All my adult life we have had the same checking account (30+ yrs). I am a regular Walmart customer spending usually 250 to 300 dollars every other week and usually, spur of the moment trips in between! Until last month I had NEVER experienced a problem writing my check. Since then I have been declined 4 different times! I have called telecheck each time usually crying because of embarrassment! They tell me it is because of lots of activity on the account! The FUNDS have always been there! If I could file a grievance against telecheck I would! I am seriously contemplating seeing an attorney! RIDICULOUS! I could totally understand if the funds weren't there or a history on the account! But not when the account has sufficient funds for the transaction.

yes other day on the 07/18/19 i was at meijers inc here in mt pleasant mi, i used a check for a payment it was accepted, i've also written a check at walgreens inc as well, other day i went to walgreens in the afternoon and used a check for a payment and it was accepted, but second time i went to the store i used a second payment it was declined because i was spending more then it shows in the system, then they told me that check number wasnt in the order i told them that ive written checks couple time already of course its not in a order, then i try to give check again at meijers inc same day it was declined for a same reason, then the specialist was trying to get more information from my bank like account balance ect, they also told me that they have verify my account balance and information, its like why did they declined my check if they where accepted last come time, didnt got a real answer

My check was declined at walmart due to insufficient history. I haven't written a check at walmart for a long time, so telecheck declined it. Then I tried to call the phone number. 1st time got a person that I could not understand and asked to speak with someone who spoke better English. I got transferred back into the phone pool. Went through the menus again and got disconeccted. Did this 1 more time, got disconnected again! By this time I was too tired to enter the bank routing numbe, account number, check number, dollar amount & zip code etc, for the 3rd time! Ended up leaving walmart, going to the bank, getting cash & going back to Walmart to pay for my groceries! The "sorry for any inconvenience this has caused" on the phone message, doesn't make up the incompetance of telecheck! My bank account had money in it and I have good credit!

No company should have the right to arbitrarily deny service based on non issues. This company and its employees are incompetent and it doesn't take rocket science to figure that out.
check denial for frivolous reason
My check was denied at Walmart by Telecheck. Mind you, I've written checks to Walmart regularly for years; but out of the blue, my check was denied.
Therefore I denied Walmart my business, and left my purchase sitting in bags on the counter and walked away. I called Telecheck and their reason for denial was that I hadn't written a check since the end of November, less than a month ago. For that alone, my check was refused.
Telecheck Rep stated they have no access to information regarding checking accounts; so I asked what right they had to reject service given they have no viable information for making arbitrary decisions regarding a person's banking transactions. They stated that they have certain strict perimeters given by the store that must be followed. That's interesting because I also called the manager at Walmart and he had never even heard of that as a reason for denial. I'm no expert but appears Telecheck may create frivolous reasons to reject checks to make themselves appear valuable to their client. Or alternatively, they may just be incompetent.
I was informed by the rep that I should be able to write a check to Walmart today; however, I will not be doing business with Walmart for a very long time. Being unnecessarily humiliated in front of other customers is unacceptable.
I will also be speaking today with the State Attorney General, because Telecheck should not be allowed to arbitrarily deny service based on ridiculous perimeters that aren't even sanctioned by the business they represent.
I had a very similar experience with this telecheck company at my Walmart. I’ve done business at this Walmart with the same checking account for around 25 years with no issues. Twice in a row I’ve been declined for no reason. When I call telecheck they won’t even talk to me only ask personal questions and refuse to tell my why they need this personal info or what they plan to use the info for. I would greatly be interested in knowing what info you get from your state attorney general as I may also be filing a law suit against this company for discriminating against me declining me from doing business with these merchants and not even giving me a reason why.

- Called telecheck and provided. name, address, phone number, driver s licence number. Was assured that my record was now in there system because I only wrote one or to checks a month!
Third and fourth checks denied in March at Rite Aide drugstore for medicine.
Called Telecheck and was reassued that it was 'ok now'... So went back to Rite Aide was rejected again..
Fifth check rejected in April at Family Dollar in Gladwin... last nite no food for my cat and dog or milk etc for me...
Can anybody figure this company out... I am sure 57.17 would not have put them in a debtors jail!
A call to Telecheck promptly informed me that I was the sourge of the earth... So now I am trying to identify the locations of Telecheck service in Gladwin area. And I will spend my money elsewhere...

I am letting you know that I have contacted my Lawyer and He told me that Telecheck has no right knowing what is in my Checking Account so I have let them know they need to fix everything with me. I have no check on file with Telecheck and you have no reason to hold anything against me. Telecheck is a piece of [censor]. Date of incident 3/23/18 Walmart. You all don't need to know anything about my checking account other then stop harassing me about my checking account and take me out of your system. Every time I try to write a check at Wal Mart it’s declined can you tell me why?
The first thing to do is check and see if you have a check on file with any other company Because if you have a check that bounced like at Krogers, Food Lion, Kmart, etc they're all on one system. So check that out first.

Didn't have to telecheck fixed it on their end. Their company does have a lot of problems though and is very hateful toward people on the phone.
denied check reason code 4 — and they will not correct the issue
This company has denied my checks at Walmart on 2 different occasions. I sent in the information they required to correct the issue and then they just re-installed the alert again. They claim I have a bank account through a bank I have never banked at in my life. They say that bank account with a bank I never heard of has someone writing checks with my drivers license and not my name or address. I have gotten the run around getting the issue adjusted and will now be contacting a attorney. This is a ridiculous company that does not have the where-with-all to varify things before the deny people, nor will they give the denied person enough information to rectify the ongoing problems.

TeleCheck denied my check at a merchant and their reasoning was I did not have enough check writing history. These people need to get their head out of their butts. I have used my same checking account for over 20 years, writing well over 10, 000 checks, never bounced one, and have several thousand dollars in the account at all times. I am inclined now to not use a merchant that relies on this scam of a company.
That's the same reason they're giving us.
Denied check... Fourth time
This is the 4th time Wal-Mart denied my check due to Telecheck screw up. This time, they said there was a problem with a different account, not the one I was writing a check on, not even the same bank. However, the bank account they said there was a problem with, is the same one they screwed up the first 3 times. They keep attaching that account with someone else's drivers license number. Trick part is, Wal-Mart didn't ask for my license number at the time. This also means I can't write a check at the local gas stations either.The lady on the phone, who I finally got thru to, actually spoke pretty good English, but, would not give any details as to how or why this keeps happening on the same account. Probably a plan to make writing checks such a hassle we will all go plastic...total bull####...end of rant...
Declining checks without probable cause
I'm 65 years old and never had a bad check! I only write checks because I don't trust debit cards! (no pin /no signature and in my world no purchase) I am only being rejected at Office Depot/Max. I called TeleCheck today and the answer I got is because I displaying suspicious behavior because of writing checks in other towns? I live in Leander TX but I do shop in surrounding towns as in Georgetown, Liberty Hill, Salado, Round Rock, Austin, & Kerrville and others. I'm on the road a lot and if I need something I go to the closes merchant as in HEB, Walmart, Lowe's and others. I AM A CONSUMER NOT A GUY WITH BAD CHECKS HISTORY! Telecheck is telling me I have no history with them and I am a risk. Telecheck also suggested I write checks in small amounts and stay within my community until I have build up history with Telecheck. But I do have history and according to Telecheck there are over 200 checks processed, so what is the real their issue with me being a risk! As of today I'm no longer doing business with Office depot/Max!
Denial of checks
This is not the first time I have been denied. This time it was in two stores and the prices are in the hundreds that had to be put back on the shelf.
I have tried numerous times to try to correct this but to no avail it remains.
There is no way to get a hold of these people. They are a underground reporting service that once denies your account you are forever lost. Might as well close that account and open another. They cannot help you and they will not. If you do happen to get a live person and they can speak your language there is no one in authority just some poor slob that is trying to calm you down.
Check processing at major drug & discount stores.
For no reason, out of blue, check at Kmart, then Walgreens was denied. Called bank immediately and they had not received checks. Knew there was ample funds and bank confirmed cash available in checking acct. So mgr at Walgreens gives me 800 # to call. Call Telecheck and the run around begins. Meanwhile, she asks for all my bank information. . to confirm, right? Wrong. Clear that Kmart, Walgreens, and Walmart have recently signed up and if you don't write a lot of checks. . you wi be denied. Rep said it has nothing to do with funds. It appears that a 3rd company now has access to all our private financial info. So who is going to protect us from Telecheck? Right now it appears they have me over barrel. It is extremely alarming that financial info is being passed around like its nothing. It also appears that there are few if any good reasons for denials. So good people trying to control finances are being harmed. Your checking account is no longer accessible for use. Forcing consumers to use credit cards. See any conflict folks? I am going to start petition to demand list of companies who use Telecheck and then set up process to let each company see how many sign petition to avoid companies serviced by Telecheck. This is crazy. Rep told me solution was to not write check for 7 days. Here you have some clerk feeling the power of control. Here you have a Walmart, Walgreen, etc. Vendor telling me when I can write a check. Crazy.
Telecheck needs to be stopped and we need to sign a petition and have it forward to Walmart and have them stop using Telecheck for there check processing center. They're not a credited business and Walmart needs to find another company to handle their check processing issues.
Walmart has not 'recently signed up'. Walmart has used TeleChek for years.
Denied Checks
I am tired of being denied at local stores in Michigan. Every time it is Denied by Telecheck. How is it I can write a $13.00 - $36.00 check at a local pharmacy and then turn right around in the same store go to check out and write a check for groceries and I am denied. Every time. this is the 4th time in a row. I have to call to find out why and no one seems to be able to answer the questions. I call the 800 # with the denial record code and transaction code and am told, that there is nothing there and there is no reason for it. Then why the h... is it being denied. Then I am told, "well, try writing for a smaller amount"
Really! for a weeks worth of groceries! I am so tired of this and then to beat all telecheck owes me money. Yes I accidentally wrote a check that did not go thru first time in my whole life and I made it right. Now telecheck owes me money, but do they pay it back = OH NO! but they reject my checks? REALLY? Pay UP FOLKS and leave me alone. I always have more than enough money in my accounts. Just cause I made a small mistake, - who doesn't? But I am penalized for life because of it. GET REAL!

Our salesman had to call telecheck to accept our check for our new washer. They said no because Johnny doesn't write checks for large amounts enough. He's had the same checking account for the 26 years that I've been with him and from my understanding a longer than that. How can anyone turn down a check from someone who's never had a bounced check, and always pays his bills on time. Even early. His credit cards are always paid in full before they are due. That’s not entirely true mkstltch. I’ve been doing business with Walmart and tractor supply using the same account for over 25 years and never ever bounced a check. I normally do business at these same two stores about weekly and spend about the same amount each time. All of a sudden now I’m declined and told to call this 800 number. They won’t even tell me why my check was declined or anything. Nothing has changed. Not my habits, amount of money spent, length of time between visits to these merchants or anything. Telecheck is a company that Guarantees the funds for a company. All they do is base the decision on past banking transactions. It is the same as turning down someone for a mortgage loan because he has done things that look like he might have a problem.

My wife received 2 letters from Telecheck about how she owed money. It said the merchant was Amazon, showed the amount and the transaction date. At first, we ignored it. On January 2nd, 2008 my purse was stolen. The guy had my checkbook and wrote several checks. Telecheck notified me on January 14th, 2008 about two checks that had been written and there was no money to cover these expenses because the account was closed. I explained to them about my purse being stolen and I sent them everything they asked for including police report, affidavits and several other things in February of 2008. Never received anything after that from them. I thought everything had been cleared up until August 5th, 2014 (6 1/2 years later) when I tried to get an ATM card for my savings account and was denied by Telecheck. I called them and found out it was because of the two checks from January, 2008. They are trying to say I never sent them anything proving my purse was stolen which is ridiculous because I still have every piece of paper from 2008 and found all the things I had faxed them. SO on August 8th I faxed everything again. They are saying it is going to take at least another month to get this all cleared up after I give them the correct account number which they have already. They call and leave me messages to call them back and I can never talk to the person I need to because they can not transfer. This place is full of foreign ###s that should not even have access to our personal information in the first place. After reading all the other complaints about this place it definitely needs to be shut down ASAP!

Telecheck deducted $30.00 from my checking acct. without notifying me first. Said that I had a return check to a grocery store and that the check was resumitted to bank and cleared. I was never notified of the check not clearing the 1st time by either telecheck or the grocery store. This should be against the law.

Most times, if a check does not clear, the bank will notify you. They will usually notify you by mail.
On the other hand, nobody should be able to just automatically start dipping into someone's financial accounts. I don't care how you pay for something, they have to have your permission to deduct money from your account. That permission would need to be received even for an EFT.
Nasty customer service
Telecheck has some very nasty people working for them. I went to foodlion in hopewell virignia. i have been writing checks there for months. nothing ever bounced. i went in yetersday and bought 96 dollars worth of food i needed. foodlion runs my check and i get some "verification" denial. the manager tells me to just call and that most of the time it is no problem. i call and get this woman name AILEEN, ID# 5858. She is some type of oriental woman that could barely talk. She asks me a whole bunch of questions for 5 minutes. Then she tells me im denied and that i need to find another source of payment. i proceed to tell her that i dont have a debit card yet and that the bank is already closed. she calls be by my FIRST name and asks me "what part of find another source of payment do i NOt understand" ? I then went off. i told her she was NOT going to talk to me like that, that I was an officer in the united states army, fresh back from afghanistan, and that if she cant talk to people like she has some sense, she needed another job. I was told I was deneied because the "database" didnt show history of me writing a lot of checks ? Does that make sense to anybody here ? I hate checks. but i had to use what i had til i get my card. i had to leave my food there ... smh.

You don't have your debit card yet because it is a new account. A new account is not trusted. Checks are old fashioned and subject to fraud. Checkbooks are lost and stolen all day, everyday. Pay with your credit card. You are an officer and don't have a credit card? Odd!. Carry cash. Fold it up, put it in your pocket. Old fashioned. Cash is like check but works more often.
Unfair practice
Telecheck has been in a lot of hot water and we need them to take them to task. They have paid 3.5 million recently and we need to have a class action lawsuit by those of us who have been humiliated and denied services and goods due to their unfair practices. My check was denied, I couldn't get what I needed, had to find a ride 16 miles to my bank, I am old and disabled, had to cancel appointments and so forth. When I called them they said I did not have a bad check anywhere or a bad history, they based it on a statistical analysis. Bull. Merchants have to belong to Telecheck, I use checks everyday of my life. For example, I have written forty this month. Apparently 39 of them do not belong to Telecheck. Statistically with my history there is 100% chance my check is good. So they have only seen one of my checks and it is good, what the hell are they basing it on? If they checked on one check and it was good, that would mean I have a record of 100% good checks in their system. Please call the FTC when this happens to you.They will take a formal complaint and will give you the number of the Attorney General in your State who will also take a formal complaint over the pohone.If I find this harms my credit report they will find they are fighting a consumer pit bull and will be sorry they ever heard of me. Please join me. Also, can anyone find a lawyer out here who will take on a class action suit?

Telecheck need to quit playing games with people. When consumer calls for answers about why transactions are being denied Telecheck need to step up to the plate and give consumers a direct and positive answer. Instead of a silly answer like lack of history or doesn't fall within our guidelines. Why all of the sudden are they forming new rules every day as they go.
