TGI Fridays service

The worst dining experienced I have ever had. I met 7 of my relatives plus myself and husband. They had a 40 minute wait, or we could sit outside so we did. They first took drink orders, at which time I asked for water. Drinks came in 2's and 3's. Finally after a wait the waiter came to take food orders, so we didn't have an opportunity to order appetizers, due to a time element (so slow). After dining we needed to be at the Cotton Bowl for my cousins grandsons college football game. Finally food came and I asked about my water? Then my water came and my relatives were almost thru eating, so I asked the waiter again about our entree, he said he would check on it. Never came and everyone was now done. My husband then checked w/manager which didn't really seem very concern, howe ver he offered to comp the entree! Then as we gorged down our entree so to hurry to the game, out came the bill and they took off $4.00 for the entree, we told him it was to be comped as per manager, he says oh yea, I forgot. So now we wait for a new bill to pay for drinks. I have been in this world for 64 years and never haved been so disappointed in a restuarant's courtesy and lack of concern. Embarrassed in front of these 7 weary travelers that drove 3 hours to meet us for early dinner at 3:15 pm and we left at 5:45 pm. Missed the whole first quarter of the game.

TGI Fridays fraud

This is crazy!...in eau claire, wi I went to a tgi fridays for an event called bar wars. Flair bartenders compete for a prize.in this competition drinks that the bartenders made were auctioned off at ridiculous prices ranging from $15 or $100 for one drink! This is because they kept repeating that the money given would go to a charity of the bartenders choice. However, I spoke with one of the bartenders (Who I knew) after the competition, and asked what charity he chose. He said he just gave his money he made from selling the drinks to the bar manager, and that the money was being used to buy a new television for the bar. This is what I call fraud. Using charity to get money to buy a tv, lying to the customers, committing fraud... How typical of tgi fridays.

I have bartended for fridays for 12 years and I know that the bartender that said that was a crock of you know what. Fridays for the past decades have always donated all the bar compititions charity money to make a wish. I know longer work at fridays, but I will stick up f0r a company that took great care of me in my past. You really need to get your facts right before you post a comment like this to the world. maybe fridays should post a comment about you thats not true to ruin your life.

I work at Fridays as a Bartender for the last 3 years. The bar compitentions happen every year to help raise money and awareness for the make a wish foundation. This is has been happening since I first started with the company. Hence why they have auctions threw out the night while the bartenders put on the show. As for auctioning off the drinks... by corporate standards they're not supposed to do that they're supposed to dump them in the sink afterwards because they make a wish foundation doesn't want liquir auctioned off to help raise money. This is a yearly thing that happens every july threw septemember until that's why we also sell make a wish stars in the resturant.

Hello,
I work for the Friday's corporate offices, no, not a big whig..nothing I say is endorsed by Carlson Restaurants WW. I talk with managers of stores all across the United States. All the money that is raised during Bar "Champs" competitions is currently being donated to the Make a Wish Foundation. The managers are required to have this entered into their end of night sales reports that are reported to the corporate office. It's not a scam...the bartender's just doing his job, but isn't involved in the administrative level of what goes on in the store.
Thanks

TGI Fridays general manager forced me to leave instead of resolving complaint

Here is the letter that I sent to their corporate office:

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing about a terrible experience I had at the TGI Fridays located inside Honey Creek Mall in Terre Haute, IN on July 3, 2010, around 7:00 PM. A manager identifying himself as Todd Sackett, the general manager, forced me to leave the restaurant instead of resolving my complaint.

Five friends and I visited your restaurant to celebrate a birthday. After we were seated in the wrong area and moved to the location that was actually set up for us, we ordered some alcoholic beverages and placed our meal orders.

I had ordered the parmesan crusted chicken, but the server brought out a chicken and shrimp dish. I told the server that my order was incorrect and indicated that the chicken and shrimp would be acceptable; however, the server returned the incorrect meal to the kitchen. I assumed that she had just grabbed the wrong order and would be right back. I was wrong.

When the server had returned to check on us, I told her to cancel my order because my friends were now finished eating. She offered to provide the meal at no charge; however, I would not have had time to eat or store the food, so I declined.

When I received my bill, I asked to speak to the manager to see if he would refund my drink purchases to make up for the poor service. Mr. Sackett arrived and explained that they had already offered to provide my meal for free and that he had to throw away my food because I had refused to accept his offer. I explained that I would not have been able to eat the meal as my friends had already finished eating and we needed to leave.

Mr. Sackett told me that he could not buy my drinks and did not offer any other specific remedies to my complaint. I informed him that I would be contacting his supervisor. He provided me with his business card with a hand-written name and phone number on the back (enclosed) and then left.

As we were paying our bills, we noticed that we had been overcharged for some of our drinks. Although the description of the drink on the receipt had the correct price in it, the actual extended price for the drink was too expensive. The server apologized and corrected the error. I have enclosed the corrected receipt showing that an allowance was added at the bottom to correct the price; however, the original misleading line item is still visible at the top.

I then asked to speak to Mr. Sackett again. I had to wait a long time before I could speak to him. When he was finally available, I informed him that in addition to being forced to sit and watch my friends eat their dinner, we had been overcharged for our drinks.
He replied that we had not been overcharged. I responded that had we not caught the error, which could have been easily overlooked, we would have paid too much money for our drinks. I reminded him that I would be contacting his supervisor about my experience.

In response, Mr. Sackett sighed deeply and told me that he did not care WHAT [sic] I told his supervisor. He reiterated that he had already thrown away my food and told me to contact my state representative.

I replied that he could offer me a discount or a gift card/voucher against a future purchase instead of buying my drinks. In front of my friends and the other patrons that were probably watching, he grimaced deeply and told me that he had had enough, that I had to leave, and gestured towards the exit, as if I had done something wrong. I was humiliated.

While I was understandably upset with the service I had received and the handling of the situation by Mr. Sackett, I did not use inappropriate language or speak disrespectfully to Mr. Sackett or any of the staff.

Though my friends and I will certainly never visit your restaurant again, it is my hope that you will forward this letter to the appropriate executive(s) and the franchise owner so that future customers do not have to go through what I did. As a matter of public interest, I have posted this letter online so that others will know what to expect should they visit your Terre Haute TGI Fridays restaurant.

@jw3: I have worked customer service myself. I understand the environment. They were not very busy - we got in after a very short wait. Additionally, I was not "calling a manager over every time the waitress made a mistake." I simply asked the server when I got the check if they would comp my drinks and then had to deal with the manager, once before finding the error and once after.

I agree that they gave me a reasonable offer. Had my circumstances been different, I would have gladly accepted. However, I take issue because the manager refused to take into account that I had to leave with my friends and could not eat or store the food, and did not extend me an alternative offer. Additionally, I do not think my request was unreasonable - it is not my fault that they didn't bring my correct order on time, especially considering I offered to eat what they brought me, and there was no way for me to foresee that occurring.

The manager forced me to leave when I offered reasonable alternatives to refunding my drinks. I do not believe his actions were as constrained as you do.

@WhoCaresAboutYou: I apologize, I got your username and jw3's username reversed.

Update by Jimmah
Jul 07, 2010 4:59 pm EDT

@WhoCaresAboutYou: Your insultful, disrespectful comment is completely unacceptable and I will not tolerate it.

@jw3: Thank you for the information. I agree money responsibility falls on me, and you'll note that I caught the error. But, the combination of charging the wrong price and making the price hard to understand on the receipt is exceptional, and the public needs to be aware this has occurred so that they can watch for it if they choose to eat at this restaurant.

As for small mistakes happening every now and then, of course they happen and I expect that. However, I think the string of mistakes that I encountered combined with the handling of my complaint by the manager are noteworthy, hence my post.

Additionally, I completely understand that the manager was not obligated to do anything else. I think the fact that the manager chose not to do anything more than what he was obligated to do speaks volumes. For example, I'm not obligated to leave tips for good service. That doesn't mean it's not proper to do so, and I certainly do.

I was an emplowee at tgi friday. on aug, 18 2012 . A server told me that he hate me, so I told him he was a punk. So I went on about my business. the next thing i know a manger took me into the office stating that someone had said i called a server a punk, but I have been having problems with server making slurs and disrespecting me. I response back to them and the general mangaer said can't respond back to them . so I got wrote up for standing my ground. Iam 56 years old, and he want me to bow down to these 19-30 years old kids. These people play around like little kids. when you say something to them they tell a manger, who always side with the servers. so I was fired for responding to someone who said that hate. I didn't know that he was gay.I should have known the way the servers be grabbing on each other, men grabing men and girls grabbing girls. When ask for corporate office number they get mad and ready fire anybody who talk to them.

I just had a horrible experience at Fridays in Quakertown PA, after going there often with no problems. The cost of their wine increased apparently, but since there were no prices on the wine list, I didnt know it. I was charged $9.50 for a glass of wine (not even big glasses). I complained to the waitress that they should let customers know that prices increased by 1/3. She sent the beverage manager over. I told him that one would not expect a glass of wine at Fridays to cost more than at the Melt (a very pricey, exclusive restaurant in the area). He told me I was free to go to the Melt from now on. I said that managers are supposed to make sure the customer leaves happy with their experience and that I felt his answer was being rude. He then kicked me out! We were just paying our bills, and I said I would leave when my friends did. He threatened to call the police to have me removed forceably if I didnt leave that second. I told him to go ahead and call, since I did nothing wrong. Then he forgave my 3 friends their entire bill (over $50 worth) for their "inconvenience" and because they are "valued customers", instead of fixing the issue with me. If I were manager, I would have said "I understand how you feel, you do have a right to know that the drink prices went up. This one time I will charge you the old price, but next time you know the price is this." Or "I'll give you one of the drinks on the house, but next time you know." Such an easy issue to accommodate. But instead he was on some kind of power trip, accused me of being drunk (after 2 glasses of wine and food in my stomach? Please). And then tried to rectify it with my friends, probably because by that point he knew he had screwed up, but wasn't mature enough to admit he was wrong by accommodating me. I'll never go back to Fridays anywhere again, even though usually I have had great experiences there recently.
And in the case of Jimmah, the manager of Fridays handled that completely wrong. It is ok to complain when something is wrong, unlike what some on here seem to think. And I had worked as a waitress for years, so I have been on both sides of this. Customer service is the lifeblood of any restaurant, and a good experience may draw 20 additional people, but a bad one spreads even faster and keeps away 100 potential customers. That manager should have lost his job for treating a customer so badly. The one that treated me so badly should too, but you can bet they won't.

It's ok.

But like I said if you are looking to pursue the issue further, I'd suggest www.consumerist.com as a good starting point. They list a number of companies and their higher up's contact information. Other than that, the best way is to also get viral - get this type of complaint logged in numerous places and people will notice.

While I agree with jw3, I suggest checking on Google to see if you can find TGIF's contact list for higher ups. Consumerist.com would be a good place to start - they have contact info for many companies and their CEOs.

Other than that - yea, it was a TGI Friday's. Not exactly a 5 Star chain, and when those types of places get busy it's easy for small mistakes to happen like that. Money responsibility falls to you for the overcharging and keeping an eye out, and yes, the manager did handle it a little poorly from the sounds of it. But at the same time - he doesn't have to give you anything technically.

TGI Fridays horrible service

On 2/5/10 We brought our 65 year old mother out to dinner for her birthday. We ordererd food drinks, appetizers, and told the waitress that it was our Mom's B-day. Our Apps were cold, our drinks came late, my mom's food came out wrong, she was so upset. We asked to speak to a manager, but since our waitress was so consumed in the guys at the party beside us. We were denied. When you bring 10 adults out for a special occasion, and it gets ruined because noone even cares, after you spend well over $100 dollars. It really doesn't say much for your restaurant. I'm very upset that this incident happened. Especially since this may be her last. I hope you can rectify this so that some other family doesn't go through this again.

TGI Fridays customer service/to go

In the past 3 years, I have traveled 75% of the time for my job in the food service industry. During my travels, I have come to depend on a nice dinning experience at the end of a long day when I visit the TGI Friday's Gettysburg, Pa location. Each time, I order a meal at the "To Go" counter and each time I am extremely disappointed with my experience.

Customer service is what I get paid to teach, coach and train on a daily basis and never have I received any decent customer service and there is always an issue with the amount of time I wait for my "to go" order at this TGI Friday's. For example; tonight I placed my order for salmon and a house salad at 6:30 pm. Twenty-five minutes later I approached the hostess regarding the wait. She then got a manager, who said, "Oh my!" and walked away. A total of 31 minutes after I placed my "to go" order, it was finally ready. No one apologized for the long wait nor thanked me for my business. I understand that sometimes a kitchen at a restuarant gets behind however; that needs to be communicated to the customer; keeping them informed of the progression of their order and if it comes down to it, thank them for their patience and do what it takes to have them continue to be repeat customers.

I truly believe that a customer's feedback, regardless if it is positive or negative, is a great resource. Knowing what your strengths and opportunities are from a customer's perspective, is an effective way to build business. Hopefully, these have been isolated experiences and other customer's have been extremely saticfied.

Regretfully, I will no longer be giving my business to this TGI Friday's in Gettysburg, Pa.

As this used to be a good TGIF location it has gone down in cleanliness. I go there every so often and during my visit today I was disgusted. We sat down at the bar and ordered drinks and food.

Prior to the food arriving I noticed a few flies (looked like fruit flies) around the area where we were sitting. I looked around and noticed that was where they kept the fruit for drinks. It was tolerable at first, after the appetizers came we noticed what looked to be an infestation of flies. I mentioned it to the manager and he said "sorry" I said sorry? that's disgusting. he seemed not to care...

we moved to the complete other side of the bar and while we were waiting for our main course to arrive I killed a fly infront of me. that was enough...I called a different manager over and informed her, she said "sorry" and again seemed not to care.

We then relocated to the farthest booth from the bar, where once we were seated the waitress seemed annoyed that she had to serve us and the check was already in. while we waited for our food to come out we noticed more flies...

IT WAS DISGUSTING AND THE BOARD OF HEALTH SHOULD BE NOTIFIED

TGI Fridays bad customer service

Location 56 bet 3 and lex

My first and last time ever eating at a tgi fridays!. . . It took the waitor about 5 minutes to seat us, mind you the restaurant was practically empty. At no point did this waitor ever great us or mentioned his name. It took him about 10 mins to bring my drink, like half an hour for my food. There was rap music playing, the waitors were dancing (Including my waitor) , two waiters were wearing hats. The food was horrible. Not once did my waitor come and ask how was the food or if we needed anything. When we asked for the check it took him about another five minutes to bring it, then he had the nerve to underline the part in the check where it say about gratuity and put a smily face. The atmosphere of this fridays felt more like a run down bar than a place to have a nice dinner with friends and family.

Are you kidding me? This is ridiculous.

First of all - ten minutes to bring the drink is not his fault usually. They have to wait for the bartenders to make it. So if it takes the bartender 10 minutes to make it, the waiter has no way to bring it out any quicker.

Half an hour for food is the kitchen's fault. I noticed you didn't say he brought the food out after a half an hour and it was cold. So presumably, he didn't let it sit there, he brought it out as soon as it was ready.

I'm not sure if you've ever eaten at a Friday's before this - but the whole restaurant is about flair and having a good time. It's a family party atmosphere, they tell their servers to have fun with whatever they do. Dancing is part of having fun. When they're not at your table, nothing is wrong with dancing.

Wearing hats is part of the uniform. If you don't like it, go somewhere else. They give them the basic uniforms and tell them to add flair. You're allowed to wear hats, jewelry, piercings, pins, things like that because they want you to show off your personality.

Underlining the gratuity with a smiley face was for you to know that you already tipped and that you didn't have to tip anymore on top of that. There were times when my gratuity was $40 and someone didn't see that, and they tipped $40 on top of that. So you should thank the server for underlining the gratuity in order to make sure you didn't tip more than you wanted to.

What a complainer. Sounds like you need a more boring, robotic restaurant to fit your tastes.

TGI Fridays upcharge for juice

I was at the local TGI Friday's tonight for their Oktober Fest. I was told there were $2 well drinks, among other choices. I order a baybreeze, which is vodka, cranberry and a splash of pineapple. When I got my bill after 2 drinks, I found a charge for 4.49 for the baybreeze. When I questioned the bartender, she said, oh, I didn't charge happy hour, but there is an upcharge of $.50 for any juice. a baybreeze is a well drink, I've never been charged extra for baybreeze, until now.

TGI Fridays tuesday the waitress

Hello, yes I was eating at fridays on 34th and 8th ave this evening, and was served by a waitress name Tuesday, the service was horrible and it was clear that she had been drinking. She yelled back and forth across the room to her co-workers and it was frustrating. I will never eat there again. When I asked her to please send someone else she replied "they're busy, so you're stuck with me". She insisted that if i didnt like it there, to eat elsewhere. I would also like to say in addition to me never visiting there again I also would have to inform friends of such behavior. The staff there drinks on the job and is not fit to handle people food.

I had the same issue. Three small tortillas--much smaller than the ones in the restaurant-- 2 - 5 inch diameter ones and 1 - 4 inch diameter one, and four pieces of meat, one of which was fatty.

TGI Fridays customer service

My friends and I decided to go to this restaurant after the movies yesterday. One of my friends is a Gulf War veteran that has lost his leg and is in a wheel chair until he is fitted for his prosthetic leg. I walked in and spoke with the front area person and explained our need for a table that would sit 6 people with one being in a wheel chair. She proceeded to try to sit us in the very back of the restaurant in tables that were not together. This is understandable if the restaurant was packed and there were no areas to seat 6 people. There were areas to seat all of us but they were not offered. We left. This is my first and last time in a TGI Fridays restaurant and I will be telling many of my friends about our experience.

IT IS UNACCEPTABLE TO TREAT ANYONE LIKE THIS, LET ALONE A MILITARY SERVICE MEMBER THAT HAS GIVEN SUCH A SACRIFICE LIKE HE HAS!

"You're right! The hostess should have gone up to people who were eating, and kicked them out!

Is that what you want?"

Excellent point. this reminds me of how little people actually know about the inner-workings and functionality of a restaurant on a day-to-day basis. Unfortunately, it is these same people who decide to leave a three dollar tip with a $150 check because either (1)they did not bring enough money to tip appropriately, (2) have no idea how to do percentages, seeing as how graduating high school would be comparable to a once-in-a-lifetime miracle, (3) think that servers get paid a luxuriant and copious hourly rate rather than the $2.13/hr rate (meant only to balance out earnings for tax purposes, leaving them with a zero dollar check), or (4) blame any negative aspect of thier dining experience on the server so as to justify their tip (or lack of one). People like this are the ones who find that food tastes better in a booth rather than at a table, don't understand that it is a violation of fire safety code in most areas to seat someone (wheelchairs and high-chairs included) at the end of a table, and don't consider the fact that they were seated in a specific area of the restaurant so that they would speedy and efficient service from the server assigned to that section. There are reasons why people are taken to certain tables, but since this man's friend fought in the war, the regulations for operating an efficient restaurant don't apply here (even though both losing an extremity while in the military and failing to understand the logic of this situation were the unfortunate direct results of voluntary actions)

TGI Fridays terriable customer service

A friend of mine and myself went to get a salad and wings. He didnt have ID to drink but I did. I ordered my drinks but the waitress kept moving my drinks across the counter top. After getting my food, I moved my drinks to make way for my food, she came pass and moved my drinks again. I hadnt even drank out of them, by this time, I'm feeling uncomfortable and asked her to get a manager because I didn't want the drinks. The manager came out (Michael Clapp) and was rude and insisted I pay for everything. I told him I didnt touch them and Jill, my waitress kept moving my drinks around and I didn't want them. He call 4 patrol cars and humiliated me in front a dinning room full of guest. Ran my credit card wrong and asked me to give him my social and a copy of my drivers liscence. Finally after a hour and being threaten with jail time, I sent a friend to the ATM to withdrawl cash to pay the entire bill. Never have I been treated in this manner! stay away from Short Pump TGI Fridays unless you are ready to be harrassed and embarrassed!

That is exactly right, i especially like the part where this ### had to leave to get money to pay for drinks. Sounds to me like he wasn't planning on paying for them in the first place. As for the reason he protested having to pay for his drinks, I can almost guarantee you that the waitress was moving the drinks toward the middle of the table so as to prevent the aforementioned ### from spilling his grown-up drink(s) like a little child. He sounds like the type of person who goes everywhere expecting something for nothing as reparations for 400+ years of racial injustice to his ancestors. I am not racist by any means, but it is highly irritating when your job and pay depend on how well you impress a customer that enters the restaurant with a similar attitude, demanding every possible service and luxury only to scoff at the notion of paying or financially compensating restaurant employees for such services and products.

TGI Fridays prostitute

Hi there,

I was currently on H1-B "Visa" in US and was arrest a couple of years ago for solicitation of prostitution. I was at a bar of TGI Fridays just flirting with the undercoverwear cop (it was a trap) and she make up some false story. I was not very happy, and decided to plead "Not guilty" and decide to take the case for the trial where judge found "Not Guilty" . I am and planning on going to India in Dec. I would like to avoid delays in the "visa stamping process" if I can when I try to reenter US. My question is:

1. Can I expect any problems or delays in the stamping process?

2.How long does it take for the criminal background checks to come back in India?

3. Would it be faster if I get my visa staming done in Canada? (I have an appointment in Calgary)

4. Can someone there delete it from background check softwares. I am from A.P.

I would really appreciate the response to the questions above.

Thanks

TGI Fridays unacceptable customer service

Receipt Information:
Rockville Centre, NY
65 ZAMBUCA
TBL 10/1 CHK 2859 MAR01'09 341pm sales total: $44.92

Friday's is a place that my family, friends, business associates and I have relied upon, in the past, for excellent food complimented by excellent customer service. Today that was not the case.

Out with my family, we were seated and soon greeted by our "Server", I believe her name was Shatika or a name close to that (maybe the name on the receipt is her last name).

After introducing herself, she fulfilled our drink orders. We did not see this young lady again until it was time for the Check!
When she finally came to our table to "check on us", I let her know as much. She offered no explanation nor an apology of any sort. She didn't care.
We actually had to flag down another server in order to have one of the drinks replaced (there were visible pieces of white paper floating on the surface of the cola) and still, our Server went to all her other tables ignoring us completely the whole time we ate.

I'm not sure if she thought that she wouldn't get a good enough tip from us and so why not treat us the way she did, or what it was.
Maybe she was having a bad day. I don't know. Point being that this experience has definitely soured us of returning. This was the worse service, lack there of, we have ever experienced and won't soon forget.
We were all offended by her lack of attention.

I will have to share my experience with those that love Fridays as well, within my circle of acquaintances.

Its very discouraging to sit and be ignored and constantly passed over.

As a consumer who frequents this location quite often, I suggest that you employ servers who actually Want to serve, as this was not the case with Shatika.

As a result, we are no longer loyal patrons of this restaurant.

47 Broadway, NY. Do not eat here. They served me appetizers that taste like freezer burn. My salad was wilted and the chicken tasted like old oil. I had to return the food and paid only for the soda. No way was I going to eat food that would get me sick. I've always loved TGIF. But this location should be closed down or get rid of the manager.

Went in to tgi fridays Carlsbad on a Friday Nite, and even though there were only 8 customers including my party, we had to wait over a half hour for service. Did I forget to mention that there were 12 waiters and 3 bartender girls, all flirting and giggling with each other. I tried to flag over half of them down and they acknowledged seeing us but waived us off.
Finally got a waiter who apologized for the slow service but then the drinks took 15 minutes to come and were weak. The food took over a half hour more to come and was not good.
The staff still had time to flirt and giggle over by the bussing stations and the registers. They didnt care at all about the customers.
Company offered me food vouchers as an apology for the bad service. I had to emai them three times to remond them and when I finally got the vouchers they were desert coupons, redeemable if I bought a full meal. Screw you Fridays!

The complaint need not be posted. The problem has to be corrected. We’ve been long time customers of Friday’s so this isn’t the first time we had a problem. Over the years we overlooked random issues. But, this will be the last. We had dinner in the Boynton Beach store. The service was outstanding but that’s where it ended. I am currently sitting at TGI Friday’s. The hostess who seated us today was nice enough, but she was very inappropriately dressed. Her skirt was very tight and very short…way too short to have a slit in the back, yet it did.

If the slit had been any higher we would have seen everything. I am upset at the complete lack of unprofessionalism shown by the fact that the young lady was permitted to dress in such a manner. I have lost my appetite and will not be back to this location if this is acceptable.

1. The beers were flat but we were offered replacements.

2. The burgers were dried and cool. Not freshly made.

3. The fries were the same as #2.

4. Though the store probably passed State Inspections, is looked old and badly needed refreshing.

5. Not the Friday’s we had come to respect and enjoy. There’s too much competition to waste time and money in trying to be loyal Friday customers.

I enter to win a burger from the TV this guy needed 500, 000 people to sign on to get a free burger i did that. You see after that i registered and got a free appetizer plus my stripes. Well it was hell waiting for the coupon with no printer and being Columbus Day its Sunday schedule on the bus. We'll i walked in wearing my clothes some pro Keds stupid fruity colors shoes, roccer wear jean shorts, no name shirt, and a Roccer wear hat. the host automatically from the jumped he was rude ; So i asked about the coupon and he stated in informal tone, (what to go)? What? i was embarrassed there and then i brushed it off you know I'm just trying to get my burger.

I asked the man i believe Mitchel or something like that, He brought Eric or the manager( Now that right there, had my head spinning) the is going on. Now remember i was here for a free burger and got chipped at, for their, stupid promotion anyway! so the manager spoke like not for a intern position but like who is this raga muffin, in front of me, right I 'm super embarrassed right here my cheeks are fire red and woe I'm black you could see the red.

So he calls his self patting me on the shoulder walking away like he won this. Then i looked around everyone siting looking, So i called the manager back. Bye the way the host told me he didn't know the meal was a to go meal, ### you asked if i wanted it to go. Back to the story the manager arrived and i talked to him like, A sir i just came for a sandwich and to speak to the manager or get snapped at rudely, that's no t how i though it would be i could imagine the burger dripping with me in a booth asking for water. But i did gut i suvineer a bag to go i got pictures it's not TGI frig=day bag its a thank you bag.

I am a 60 year old matron and Warren county Virginia business owner who went to Fridays with her husband for a nice dinner. I ordered a house Chardonnay and got a glass of something barely palatable. Dinner was acceptable but mundane. When our bill came my 'house chardonnay' cost $13.50. I asked for the manager (Paul Phillips) who said I had ordered " a nice glass of wine" When I repudiated this statement he said "you drank it, didn't you?" He refused to reduce the bill. When I objected he told the waitress to call the police.

I had no issues or complaints until I was ready to leave.
When the waitress came over with my check, I advised her that there was
something on there that I did not order nor received. She snatched my check out
of my hands and told me she will just take it off. I was so shocked. When she
came back to the table, I asked her why would she snatched something so rudely
from someone's hands. She then told me if she did snatch it, she didn't mean
to. She tried to walk away and I told her to get the manager. When the manager,
Jessica, came over, she was just as rude. She then told me I will not speak
about her employee in any negative way. I told her I would call corporate and
the manager advised me she too would call corporate and let them know I would
be calling. I paid for my meal and left the establishment. It was the most
humiliating experience I have ever had to deal with.

I would like an apology from the Manager, Jessica and the
waitress, Jackie. I would also like my money back. I would prefer they both be
fired for public humiliating me and my family. It was uncalled for.

TGI Fridays not returning all change

on Wed. Feb 25th 2 friends, my son & I met for lunch at Friday's. I told the server that my son & I were on 1 bill, and each of the other ladies were separate. When the server picked up the payments she asked if I wanted change and I said no; one of the other ladies also said no; and the 3rd lady said yes. She had given the server $10.00 for a $4.85 bill. When she returned, she had 5 singles. She looked for the 15 cents and it wasn't there. She mentioned it to the rest of us and I also looked for it. It wasn't there. By this time both of the other ladies had to leave. My son & I were the last to leave and I stopped up front and asked the greeter if this was common practice in this restaurant and if so, whose decision is this?
does the company sanction this or does the server take it upon herself not to return ALL of the change and up to what amount? She said I really don't know because I was not your server; but she also stated the she herself has worked in many restaurants in the "valley" and that is common practice. She also asked if I REALLY wanted the 15 cents back and did I want to speak to the manager. By this time I had to leave and I said no. But I also advised her that this has left a VERY bad taste in all of our mouths and we would not be back (even though I love their green beans appetizer). I should have stayed and spoke to the manager because after I got home I started calling and and have not been able to reach them since. It's always a fast busy signal, like maybe the phone is off the hook. I even called the operator at the phone company and she got the same response; but said she didn't have the equipment to check if phone was truly busy.
Especially in these economic times, restaurants should be happy to get people IN the establishment and treat them right. And that means returning ALL the change. This is stealing!
I would like to report this to the manager, I may go to the restauant board if I have to. I am also telling everyone I know about this and "DON'T GO TO FRIDAY'S"!
I would like a response to this complaint. Thank you.

I'm the server this complaint is about! Let me please explain, this table of woman came in, sat down and were given excellent service by me. Just three old grumpy ladies who Demanded to be on seperate checks so they could use multiple coupons at one table, coupons that said one per party per table. I do round up and down on change, but I also inform and confirm its ok with guest paying. Just as I did with these oh so lovely ladies, Obviously someone wasnt listening.I'm replying to this post years later because I stumbled upon it while searching recipes similar to some at Fridays. I've been in the industry for 9 years, I've been manager, server and trainer all at the same time. I am a damn good server! Plus you try working at TGI Fridays and serving people like you! You come in with your coupons, chat for hours in a booth and leave a dollar or two since your bill was sooooo cheap. Despite whether its due to the three coupons you used after ### enough. Then you actually take the time to get online and write this ridiculous "review"! I would love to come see you where you work and complain about you, maybe you will lose your job like some servers so when they get complaints by ### like you.

I used to work for TGI Fridays in Naples, FL back in 1995 through to 1998. It is common practice for a server to round up change to the nearest dollar so you're not getting a pocketful of change for your trip out the door. If anything, you're getting 15 cents back EXTRA! Think about it...$4.85 change and the server is giving you $5.00? That's 15 cents out of the server's pocket. So my question is...what's the problem?

Stealing a customers money whether it's 98 cents, or a nickel is theft. The money does not rightfully belong to the server or business. Why should the patron be bullied and ridiculed by the posters who get thrills responding hatefully to a legitimate complaint. I too had this shocking experience at a restaurant called Morels French Steak House, 189 the Grove drive, in Los Angeles. The attitude of the waitress was arrogant, sarcastic and ridiculing when she said they don't return the patrons change. Mine was eighty cents . If this line of thinking is so correct, and praised by the dunces here, why then don't the employers short the wait staffs paychecks and round all cents down to the whole dollar. Or go to your banks to cash checks with cents, and let the bank keep your change. All day long from the Starbucks coffee with change coming, to grocery stores, dry cleaners, gas stations, conveince stores, ect. just tell them keep the change if you promote and support this policy. For an establisment to covertely short change the parton is blatently unlawful, criminal, and can be prosecuted as a misdemeanor. I protested, spoke to a manger, and have never returned. Next time call the police and file a theft complaint.

I have a solution: don't go out to eat if you're going to be a pain.

First of all, splitting checks is ONE of the most unnecessary, annoying things you could have your server do, especially if you're all paying cash. Aw, what's wrong? Can't do the math? Seriously, it's not that hard.

Secondly, in case you've forgotten, servers aren't slaves. They are there to perform a service to guests, and in return you are SUPPOSED to pay for that service. For some people they are there to pay the mortgage or pay for school. It's called a tip, every hear of one? Normally you're supposed to tip more than three percent.

And third, it must be nice that out of all of the things you could have complained about, you chose 15 cents. Maybe you should open your eyes and take a look at what other people have to complain about, and I assure you, it's exponentially more devastating than your "financial loss." You think 15 cents is bad? Some people have lost their homes for crying out loud!

P.S. I'm sure if you look underneath your couch cushions, all of your problems will be solved. Goodnight and good luck.

The fifteen cents probably just fell out of the book and into her apron. I don't know what you could have done with 15 cents that would make you so fired up to write this complaint...you couldn't even buy half a gum ball or 1/3 of a phone call with 15 cents. If you really wanted it so badly, you probably could have found it by searching on the ground for 30 seconds. People usually toss pennies into fountains.

Why didn't you just tell the server that she shorted you? She probably didn't mean to-seriously, who would steal 15 cents? I am a server and many times I make change for a table and then slip the book into my apron. The 15 cents very well may have been in the book but fell back into her apron when she took it out to give to you. The easiest way to have gone about this was to talk to the server about it and then she could've given you the 15 cents. See? No problem! My advise to you: Get a job in the food service industry!

TGI Fridays not doing what was requested... charging gratuity when not nessasary

Some Co-Workers and I went out to have a birthday lunch for one of the co-workers. We asked them to put the orders on separate bills...we were all paying separate. Not only did it take forever to come take our order, the food take one HOUR to get to us and they added the total bill together and added a 18% Gratuity fee to the bill. There was 9 of us and we told the waitress we wanted the bills separated and she said they are, they are all just ont the same bill to save paper, but they are separate. So we all had to figure out what each of us owed and we all paid with separate bank cards and it was a HUGE hassle. I was not planning on leaving a tip because it took so long to get our orders put in and then it took and hour to get the food.

Next time you go to a TGI Fridays, look at the back page of the menu. On the bottom is CLEARLY states that "On a party of 8 or more an 18% gratuity is added"

Being a server myself, I do not like to add gratuity to a check. I am confident in my abilities where I usually get more than 20%

One thing that some people need to realize is that servers depend on their tips to survive. Having a guest say "Thank You" and then hand you a $5 tip on a $90 check does not pay my rent, or provide food and clothing for my kids.

If you can not afford to go out to eat to be waited on by a server AND tip your server AT LEAST 15-20%. Go to McDonalds, Burger King, and Wendy's and order from their Value Menus!

Gratuity is added whether you have seperate checks or not, no matter what restaurant you eat at. Typically gratuity is added for more than 8 people. And what most people do not understand is that it is not the servers fault if the food takes an hour, the servers dont run back and cook your food, they just take your order and punch it in. So you are punishing your server for something that is the fault of the cook. I have worked in food service for many years and I see people like this all of the time. They come in with large groups thinking that it is easy for everyone's check to be seperate. I understand the guest is "always right" but when you come in with a larger party, give your server some slack. They are one person, you are 9 people all wanting different things on seperate tickets. I am sure you have no idea how their computer even works, most restaurants you have to put the whole order in and then go back in and seperate it out. And what is even more irritating, I am sure you dont work anywhere where you make mistakes or your guests have had to wait. Target, where the merchandise is always in the wrong spot? Kohls where clothing is always laying all over the floor? Albertsons where "3 or more is a crowd" but there are 5 people in line and no one calls for back up cashiers? Old Navy where you are no longer to exchange things without a reciept? A bank where you have to take more than 3 checks inside when you have 3 sleeping children in the car? But although most of these inconveniences are not the fault of just one cashier or sales person, these people make minimum wage and dont rely on tips so we go and complain to management. Servers rely on tips to pay their bills and gas to drive to work to serve people like you who have no idea how much it means to get stiffed on a 9 top table when it was the cooks fault that your food took an hour. Next time you dont want to wait an hour or tip with 9 people, go to McDonalds!

TGI Fridays bad service

After spending 70 dollars on a meal for two people, I'm pretty much not satisfied.

Three tiny martinis for 7.50 each, alright, it's a mixed drink, you expect to spend alot, but the steaks weren't amazing (6 oz. sirloin and flat iron). They were simply meat, flavor coming from dipping them in a small cup of the JD sauce. I tried the bacon wrapped shrimp. The bacon was burnt, and wrapped around shrimp that still had their tails on. I had to remove the bacon to pull them off. The mashed potatoes were dry, tasted unseasoned, save for one or two shavings of cheese, and in the ball shape of an ice cream scoop. I was reminded of high school cafeteria. I started the meal with one of my favorites: Buffalo wings, deciding to try them boneless. To my displeasure, they were crunchy with too much breading.

As if the food wasn't mediocre enough, we were needing to flag our server down for nearly everything (drink refills, napkins), even though the number of other customers were dwindling, since it was getting late. I say server because, though she had a nametag, she didn't introduce herself.

On top of this, when attempting to complain to the company themselves, their website is broken, and you have to leave a voicemail to make a comment. No live person.

I used to enjoy a night out at Fridays, but after this experience, and with Tuesdays and Longhorn within a couple of hundred feet of the restaurant, and Applebee’s down the block, I'm considering steering clear in the future, and advising friends and family to do the same.

P.S. The boneless wings come pre-breaded and always have. If you don't like breading on your wings, order traditional-style wings which do not come with breading. Additionally, if you consider the area in which you dined (New York City), you will realize that menu prices are approximately 30% more than the national average. Such menu price variations are determined by the individual store after factoring employee pay (or lack therof), location, taxes, wholesale cost for food/alcohol products, and operational costs (i.e. lease/rent, and utilities such as gas, water, sewage, and electricity.
Also, if your chief complaint is about the food, why title your blog "bad service"?

You get what you pay for dude. The mashed potatoes are preseasoned and come in a bag that is opened and mixed with a little more than a 1/2 cup of cheese once rethermalized (heated up in hot water). The reason for the scoop shape is to allow the managers and cooks greater control over portion size and food costs, which inturn allow the prices to remain constant over a period of time. As for the bacon wrapped shrimp, these are pre-wrapped with the tails on and cooked as one piece on the grill. A majority of people prefer their bacon crispy, so unless otherwise specified, it is actually supposed to come crispy, ensuring that the shrimp on the inside are thoroughly cooked. The "$7.50" martinis more than likely did not include the alcohol sales tax (which is actually higher in restaurants than in stores). Concerning the steaks, only the flat iron steak (8 oz) is basted in JD glaze, but both steaks should have been lightly seasoned. The peitite sirloin is meant to be a smaller portion size at a more affordable price (requiring a lower grade steak such as an aged sirloin tip). The sad fact is that while BOH (back of house/kitchen) work is more labor intesive and stressful than any other non-degreed profession, the cooks who endure such labor for sometimes 14-16 hrs a day only earn $7-10 dollars per hour (usually less depending on ethnicity--How pathetic?), so I say again, you get what you pay for.

Unfortunately, I have had to learn first-hand how physically and mentally taxing (not to mention underappreciated and undercompensated) this position can be while earning a degree in a town where 25, 000 other students (who only work for spending money) are seeking jobs. At less than $10 per hour, I perform the tasks of 2-3 employees in sweltering heat for up to 16 hours in a day, getting off of work at 2-3 am just to finance my housing, education, and bills. It is the only job available in this town, and even though I wish to one day leave all of my restaurant experience behind to work in my chosen field, the low pay and long hours only allow me 4-5 hours of sleep per night before school the next day. I have found that the work is so taxing, that when I am not working, I am too exhausted to study or play music (which is relative to my intended major as a recording industry production and technology engineering specialist). The saddest part is that while I can't even get enough hours or pay to live any better than paycheck to paycheck eating ramen noodles in my roach-infested apartment, you are online writing off the TGIF chain altogether because your luxury of a steak dinner and martinis was not seasoned as well as your spoiled mind might hope it to be. I apologize on behalf of all TGI Friday's for the menu prices, but they do serve to provide what little money does come on each of my paychecks. I wish I had the luxury of complaining about steak dinners, but instead I have to cook your steak dinners exactly the way I'm told to in order to persue my passion in hopes that one day, I might make it out of this ### job where no matter how hard I try, nothing is ever good enough for anybody much less deserving of decent pay.

Next time you order a steak and martinis, ask for extra seasoning even if it's on the side before you think about never coming in again.

TGI Fridays deceptive marketing!

I won't be going back to Fridays again - the place is nice, but their business practices are very deceptive. They emailed a $5 off of 15 coupon with a link 'send this email to a friend and get 2,0087 goldpoints' (their frequent diner program). Turns out you have to send it to a friend, print a coupon, go to the restaurant and have a meal there before they give you the 2,008 points.

That's very deceptive. The coupon DOESN'T even say a purchase is necessary. I was driving by a Fridays and the manager turned me a way from just getting the points because I wasn't eating there. And their corporate office stands by the policy that you have ot get a meal... even though the coupon doesn't say anything about it.

Did you seriously think they were going to give you all the points for forwarding an email? Come on, that's common sense.
