delivery
First of all, if the delivery is to take so long, then it shouldn't be on the website that the time frame is from 5-8 week days or whatever. You barely give any information on where the package is, or when it's going to arrive, and I couldn't cancel my latest order because it had already been dispatched, a day after, and I wanted to cancel it because it took about 3-4 weeks (I guess I was lucky) for it to arrive, and obviously, I changed my mind about the order and didn't want it anymore. This is [censor], I have to pay to give it back even. I'd rather pay more for an at least decent service then this dumb guessing game.
NEVER going to order from this [censor] site again.
ordered a anniversary present from them
Terrible service, terrible company honestly don't know how they're still allowed to be around. Had to ask for my tracking number, book hadn't come in the time frame given, had to send a 2nd one, they couldn't even provide me with a tracking number. Been 2 months since my order has been placed and now I'm getting a refund in 1-3 working days, hopefully they can keep to that time at least never buy from them again. BDM-312-[protected]
extremely late delivery
Hello Admin,
I ordered the textbook International Relations by Stephanie Dawson on the 27th of February (told max of 10 days delivery) to Australia (NT). It has now been 16 days since placing the order with no information accept 'Dispatched'. This is unacceptable and I now will have 4-5 weeks of uni content to catch up on in 1 week before the first major exam. Inexcusable service. I would like more detailed information about where my order is currently (even in Australia yet?) and a TRUTHFUL estimated delivery time. And quite frankly some sort of compensation for the severe stress I am under and will continue to endure through the semester as I attempt to catch up with weeks of content.
The order number for my product is as follows:
BDU-851-[protected]
your book depository order bdu-699-[protected] is on its way
Dani (Book Depository)
Are you trying to demonstrate your complete incompetence & ineptitude - well let me tell you, you have at least successfully demonstrated total competence with that key performance indicator>
Have YOU bothered to look at your own (Book Depository) TRACKING www
https://www.bookdepository.com/account/order/tracking/search-%20BDU-699-79725885441
Do you understand the terminology - dispatched
dispatched = sent off to a destination
delivered = to carry (goods, etc) to a destination, to carry and distribute (goods, mail, etc) to deliver parcels...
For your information - if the parcel was at my post office I would have been notified by the post office.
In australia, we have a professional, competent, postal, delivery service manned by professional, compentent personnel.
Furthermore - the uk government - policies relevant to the legal obligationsn of merchants, traders & delivery companies regulate your (book depositorys) legal obligations.
Seeing as you are so uninformed, as to have written,
"Please note that a check with the Post Office is required before we can continue looking into this matter. Rest assured, there has been a high success rate of delivery in doing so."
Book Depository/Dani - you need to familiarize yourselves with the legal obligations as per UK Government Consumer Law:
United Kingdom government - Consumer - Merchant - Policy:
"... rights and remedies in relation to the supply of goods, services and digital content, where there is a contract between a consumer and a seller/trader.
Under the Act, there is a default delivery period of 30 days, during which the trader/seller needs to deliver goods purchased online, unless a longer period has been agreed with the consumer. If the seller/trader fails to deliver within the 30 days, or on the date that has been agreed with the consumer, the consumer has the right to cancel the contract for a full refund.
The trader/seller is responsible for the goods until they are delivered to the consumer and in the consumer's physical possession, or in the possession of someone appointed by the consumer to accept them. This means that the trader/seller is liable for the service provided by the delivery firm they employ to deliver goods.
In addition, it is the trader's/seller's legal responsibility to make sure the goods purchased online are delivered to the consumer.
• The seller should chase the delivery company and let the consumer know what has happened to their items or goods purchased.
• If the consumer's items/goods are not delivered to the location they agreed with the seller (eg it was left with their neighbour without their consent), it is the seller's legal responsibility to sort out the issue.
• If the goods/items do not turn up, the consumer is legally entitled to a replacement or refund.
I SUGGEST: you/Book Depository: comply with the law, action immediately, find my parcel & deliver it to the delivery address already provided:

Do not buy from this seller, especially if you are not located in Europe.
It has been an on-going cat and mouse game with this pathetic company. So far, (1) the wait has been over 2 months (2), I've sent them probably over 10 emails at this point regarding my order (which I needed for SCHOOL) (3) they keep deflecting and saying it's Canada post, stuck at customs... No lie (4) and their "customer service is an absolute joke: its always some new person, they dont actually answer your question, and make you jump through hoops for a simple answer on delivery time.
And after you've played every game with them and force them to be upfront and honest with you, they just disregard the whole thing and offer a refund (surprising though)--- only IF you complain enough to get on their nerves though.
P.O.S joke of a company, w/zero "customer service". Save yoir lreciois time and buy elsewhere... Literally, anywhere else.
harry potter
They didn't bother to dispatch the book until 3 days had passed then said it would be another week - I complained and was told they didn't purchase the book themselves until after I had ordered and it was delayed - the next person said this wasn't true - I asked to cancel 3 times and they kept saying no I had to return it when it arrived -I explained I am disabled and cannot do this - they just ignored me saying this and kept saying no...horrific experience - and second time with problems - will never ever use again - appalling attitude towards disabilities, how can tbey refuse to cancel an order? And why does Candice keep ifnoring my explanayion about my disability and its restrictions and keeps saying to do sonething i have taken the time to explain 3 times that i cannot do due to my disability
refuse to refund - bullying emails
I am speechless. For the past 2 days, I have been bombarded with rude, bullying emails from people who say they work for The Book Depository. Not only have they repeatedly refused to even read my emails, they keep calling me by the wrong name (as if they are replying to a different email? Who knows?) and send me rude comments and stuff. Has anyone else had that experience? I was hoping for a replacement, because they sent me the wrong book, but the people on the email refuse to even check the isbn. Is this spam? Has my account been hacked? I can't believe this is TBD, they have been plite and professional in the past.
the book depository refuse to refund - rude and unprofessional behavior on email
The Book Depository has just sent me the wrong book and although I have emailed them photographs with proof of the wrong book I received and its ISBN, the person who responded to my email refuses to refund me.
This person called Sandrino didn't even look at my email, responding very rudely that he/she needed proof and pictures, and refusing to refund me.
I will not be buying from this site anytime soon again. Which is a pity, as I have made over 5 orders from them in the last 2 months, and everything was going smoothyly. I hope this employee doesn't steal the money from many other customers, and that they are removed soon or learn to be professional.
lost order bdu-827-[protected], no help from customer service
I have ordered many, many MANY times over the last 5-6 years and spent thousands of dollars and have NEVER had an order disappear. My last order which was placed January 7th never showed up. I have contacted customer service but got no help from them.
My order contained 3 items, and as Book Depository ships each item separately I find it very suspect that none of the 3 items arrived.
It has now been almost 6 weeks since ordering with nothing to show. The only suggestion customer service could make was to check the post office to see if it's there. I had not received a parcel card but checked with the post office anyway, and no packages there.
I have discovered there is no phone number to call Book Depository and inquire.
This makes me incredibly sad because I have done so many orders over the years without any issue and now that there is a problem, I get no help, no reimbursement, NOTHING. :'(
lost product, no proof of delivery, refusal to refund
On 19 January 2018, I placed an order with Bookdepository - order no. BDU-371-[protected]. The book got lost in transnit somehow, despite the fact that I did provide the complete address and phone number. When I inquired about the order and the 13-digit code that is supposed to be attached to any international shipping, I received no answer and they refuse to refund on grounds that they didn't receive the book back. I don't even have proof that they actually sent the book!
I don't know what to do next.
not receiving book
Order number BDU-443-[protected] still nothing, it's been over one month...what happened to this company? I come here to buy a book you give me nothing. Shame on you shame on both of you! Return my money or give me those books I have paid for. You just write email not even saying sorry. Provide at least a contact phone so I can call... why is no one ready?
refusing to send or refund book order (like everybody else)
I used Book Depository in the past without issue. But I ordered my book on Dec 6th and it didn't show by the January 17th latest delivery date. I e-mailed them and a customer service rep told me it didn't actually shipped on January 8th so I needed to wait until February 5th. Not shockingly nothing arrived either. The latest customer service rep is trying to buy time by getting me to go down to the post office despite that larger packages from the Book Depository having been mailed to me without issue. If a company is asking you to go down to the post office yourself and find a package they shipped to you they're pretty much admit they're bankrupt, right?
Judging from how many similar complaints I've found online from the past couple of days this company either doesn't have enough money to ship out or no longer has access to books. I'm lucky that I'm only out $8 for one book. I feel really bad for people who are losing more than that with their orders. But mostly feel bad for the people at the book depository who apparently won't have jobs soon. Sad news :(
failed delivery, customer service refused to help after I cooperated with them
Order BDU-104-[protected] was missing one book - which never arrived. I gave Book Depository what I thought was plenty of time for it to arrive (being over xmas and crossing borders, through customs - and me being busy also - so months) then I contacted customer service. They asked me to start a postal service investigation and report the reference number to them as well as the outcome. I did this - the outcome was that the book was not found. Book Depository in turn refused to re-send or refund. I have made many orders from them before and the 1st time something goes wrong, they refuse to support me? Can't Amazon (who owns Book Depository) afford to do the right thing by their customers? I guess not. Not what I would call good customer service.
not receiving books
Dear Sir/ Mam,
I have placed order on 10 January 2018 with number: BDU-827-[protected]
I have received only two books which dispatched on 15 and 16 January, the other two books dispatched on 10 and 11 January haven't been received.
I've checked with the local post offices nothing was found, and I am following up with the office which I received the books from, and nothing found yet.
Please I need these books for my PhD proposal defense and I am running out of time.

Order ref BDU 065-[protected]
I have still two school books due for this order which apparently you cannot source from the publisher even though the new additions are in print. I have had no choice other than to request a refund as I need the books in 2 weeks when the kids start school. The books have since been marked out of stock and there has been a price increase for each book or roughly $8. I have now had to source the books elsewhere at a significantly higher cost. I have repeatably chased these books and no effort has been made by book depository to contact me earlier to alert me there was an issue. I have ordered so many books from you over the years and am so disappointed with the level of service and correspondence between your customer service team. Please refund the books immediately and as a gesture of goodwill I would be grateful for a compensation of a book credit on my account.

Pre-order cancelled 3 months after placing it. Refund was promised but now the book costs twice the price of the pre-order
I placed a pre-order at the Book Depository on October 11, 2017 for the book: Oathbringer: Book Three of the Stormlight Archive (Paperback), order number BDU-473-[protected].
On January 2, 2018 I was notified that the book was on its way from the publisher to their warehouse.
Today, January 12, 2018 I was notified that instead of the book I would receive a refund for the price I paid on October 11. Today the price of the book has doubled. No explanation was offered for cancelling the pre-order.
I am not interested in a refund. I would like the book delivered.
Alternatively, I request a refund for the price I would have to pay today for the book.
I hope this matter can be settled as soon as possible.
Regards,
Alfredo Tolley

book not received and credit refund not received
order no: BDU-538-[protected]
I ordered two books initially and was told that the other book will not be dispatched due to some issue hence there should be a refund. (US$17.05 )
Please see this link for my order history
https://www.bookdepository.com/account/order/history/1
I was waiting for the book to arrive and as per website, it shows Dispatched
from the UK on 05 December 2017 however Until now, the post office confirmed here in the Philippines that they don't have the book I ordered.
Also, I was told that my bank will be refunded for the other book I ordered/cancelled and the customer service keeps on sending me reference numbers. My bank confirmed that there is no refund or credit made on my bank account thus I am now submitting this complains for multiple emails that I sent but no resolution.

Never again
I have been waiting for too long. I guess it's not supposed to be like this.
I ordered one not a very expensive book at the beginning of December and paid for an expedited shipping. I even received an email with shipping information, however, nothing was sent hence nothing has arrived.
What is the point of all of these things? Why would someone pay for an express shipping or delivery if you don't do anything fast? I am very disappointed. There will be Christmas in a week and I still have no book because of you. Thanks for letting me down.
item not delivered
I order a item on this site. Thinking wow free shipping. I even read that it might take 10 business days. Fine. I contacted them that I have nothing. They say it was shipped on Nov 28th. That was 17 days ago. Nothing. I ask for tracking, I check USPS they said they shipping, nothing! They said well you can contact them, I am like for what. The tracking number you gave me says nothing, that nothing has been done. I just want my money back, they refuse. Liars and cheats.
order not delivered
I ordered a book on 21st Nov 2017 to be delivered in UAE but it was never delivered. On inquiring it was advised by BD to contact local sorting for the parcel. I even checked with my local sorting center but in vain. After that, it was mentioned by BD that I haven't mentioned PO Box number though it was there in Address Book. But BD said I haven't mentioned the word "PO Box number" though I entered it in Postal Code section and normally it is not required in such cases to mention it specifically. In a nutshell, I then asked them to cancel the order as the book I ordered was for an exam to be held in Mar 2018. Thanks to BD for screwing up my order and wasting my time.
Osman.
