bad service
We drove from Texarkana to look at car this dealership had online on October 23, 2010. We called that morning to let them know we were on our way to view the car and when we arrived we found out the car had been sold. The dealership then proceeded to find another car of similarity to the one that sold.
At the time we test drove this car Grapevine was under a tornado warning and rain was pouring down so we were unable to look at the car completely; however, we did assume that because this was a certified used vehicle that it was still going to be a great buy.
The car they showed us did not have leather seats and we wanted that option. They said they could install the leather and it would only take a couple days. Four days later I drove all the way to Sulphur Springs to pick up the car. Two days later it was discovered the vanity mirror above the drivers seat was completely smashed. I called our sales person and he informed they would mail a new mirror to me and that I could install it myself. I never recieved the mirror.
After doing a complete look over of the vehicle it was found to have several deep scratches along the trunk, rear fender, and roof. It was also missing a piece in the panel of the door, chunks of the interior were missing from the back door. The leather had unfinished ends sticking out, the front windshield had several chips in it, along the entire front of the vehicle hood and grill there are bubbles of paint.
I called our sales person again and he said he would find out what he could do, but never returned my call. The following Wednesday I sent an e-mail to the general manager along with pictures and once again did not recieve any kind of acknowledgement. The following Monday my husband called and they told him not to worry that they would fix it all up for us. We then drove the vehicle all the way out to Dallas. Today I left a couple messages for someone to get back to me regarding the dealership tag that expires tomorrow on the loaner car. I was ingnored and passed around. Finally I was able to get a hold of someone who told me the car would be ready tomorrow but that I would have to drive all the way out to Dallas once again to pick up the car. I asked to speak to the highest level of management when he informed me that he was. After explaining to him the fiasco of this entire situation, he preceded to tell me that as far as the dealership was concerned they had done above and beyond what was expected of them. I pretty much got the impression that I didn't matter and that customer service is not important to this dealership.
I urge anyone looking at purchasing a car from this dealership to make sure they explain ALL of the details in price, and in services you are paying for.
They lied to us about what we were paying for, and what the certification process really entails.
gap insurance
Toyota allowes you to get the gap insurance. I had it and then I lost my job. I tried to get them to pay the loan with the gap insurance. They refused. My truck was repo'd. I received a check from toyota. I'll never have the gap insurance or a toyota ever again. I am now a ford owner from the check they sent me.
No? Well after the truck was repoed and they didn't receive the full amount, they sent me a check that would have paid it off. So I do believe it was a SCAM. Like I said I'll never have another toyota again. And plus I do believe they are being paid back big time with ALL of the issues they are having. So I'm not concerned anymore. I'm happy about ALL of toyota's Issues. :)
Gap Insurance covers the difference between what is owed to the bank and what your vehcile is worth if it is deemed a total loss. It does not cover payments if you are unemployed. They had no obligation to make your payments.
raised interest rate on car
I was told I was getting a rate. I was never told it was an estimation and subject to change. I signed a contract on that rate. A week later I was called and said the rate went up…..5%! I went in and even expressed to Rod Sanderson that the rate was so high that I didn’t think I could afford the payments on the car. He said nothing.
I expressed this to a friend of mine who works at another dealership. I told her I was planning on re-financing the car once a dispute on my credit report was fixed. She told me the rate was so high that no bank would refinance the car for me. I then called a lawyer and he told me that they can’t raise a rate once you sign a contract.
I then called the GM, Mike Blalog, and he told me that the first rate was “an estimation”, and that if I didn’t like that rate, I could have given the car back before signing the new rate. Well, that would have been great if Mr. Sanderson had informed me of this when I told him I didn’t think I’d be able to afford the car with the new rate.
My lawyer friend then called Mr. Blalog and talked with him about the situation. Mr. Blalog assured him that all his employees stand by corporate protocol and that he was sure that Mr. Sanderson informed me of all of these things. He did not.
I understand that it was stupid on my part to sign more paperwork without going over it with a lawyer, but that does not excuse their bait-and-switch techniques. I feel betrayed, seeing that I’ve bought a new car from them in the past and paid it off in 3 years. I thought maybe I would have been treated honestly and fair since I was a loyal customer. I hate to have to resort to this, but I am going to have to report World Toyota to many different agencies, and tell everyone I know to stay far away from this dealership.
car purchase bait and switch
The Toyota salesperson made offers which he withdrew when we accepted each offer. He made an offer of a price lower than $293 off the original price and with $500 off for trade in of my old vehicle. When we accepted, he said he could not take the trade in and offer $293 off. When we accepted the $293 off without the trade-in, he said that was not approved by his director so we had to pay full price, which we eventually did since the other car we wanted to buy was no longer available.
As an act of good faith we asked for floor mats and a spare key. Eventually he begrudgingly gave us floor mats, but refused to give us a spare key. (Three weeks later we are still waiting for the floor mats and the spare key is going to cost us $40 more than estimated. The salesperson also said his detailer could easily buff out the scratches. We left the car overnight for this buffing, and then were told the scratches could not be buffed out.)
Overall we were very dissatisfied with our experience and feel like we were the recipient of a bait-and-switch ploy. We feel very little trust that we are told by Mossy Toyota can be believed, now that we have found over and over what was said is untrue.
In February 2007, Mossy Toyota sold me a 2002 Ford Escort that had a noticeable vibration during the test drive. The salesman assured me that it was a simple idler adjustment and to bring it back later to be fixed free of charge. After several attempts they advised me that the vibration was inherent to the car. When asked for the car to be returned they refused.
An auto expert was hired to determine the cause of the vibration and learned the vehicle had once been rear ended in an automobile accident, and at one time, submerged in water. The vehicle showed electrical shorting and rust damage.
I then retained an attorney to represent me. Due to an arbitration clause on the back of the last page, the courts referred the case to arbitration, where it remains unresolved, now into its fourth year. The current arbitrator’s record is 40-0 against consumers.

Without a forced arbitration clause in the contract this case would have been resolved years ago.
I told members of Congress my story last year in support of the Arbitration Fairness Act HR: 1020 and was featured in the September 2009 issue of Consumer Reports. CARS (Consumers for Automobile Reliability and Safety) produced a video covering the nightmare Perz is going through.
rusted gas tank
i have a 2002 tunda which i purchased new. after my check engine light came on, the garage told me that i had a leak in the fuel tank system, probably a gasket or hose. after the tank was removed, it was found to be the gas tank was rusted to the point that it was non -repairable. i was told the truck was not safe to drive anymore. there was a recall regarding tank support straps rusting but toyota would not cover the cost of tank replacement, which was quoted at $1200. toyotas may run good, but they are rust buckets which do not hold up well.

DO NOT BUY ANOTHER VEHICLE FROM BOB BAKER! Salespeople lie and the service sucks!
To everyone, please read and circulate: My dad wanted me to circulate a message against a company, especially to those in San Diego. My dad has a Tundra truck that he bought brand new at Bob Baker's Toyota lot in Lemon Grove. The guy talked him into getting the supreme warranty package that will cover everything. Now, a plastic clip that holds the driver's window in the track broke, the car only has about 17, 000 miles on it. I checked out the window and got it to hold up so it is closed and not easy to steal. A couple days ago we took the truck in to Toyota because the sales guy said the warranty will cover everything. We got a call back and they said they won't cover it because the piece is part of the window and the window is not covered. So now they are making us pay more than $200 for the piece because it is attach to the window, but we don't really need the whole window. Then they also wanted to charge an extra $200 to put it in, which takes about 30 mins or less for me and I'm not even a professional. So we told them that we will just get the part and fix it ourselves. When we went to pick up the truck the window was down, so my dad got pissed off and asked why they didn't leave the window up. They said they were afraid they might break something, these guys are supposed to be professionals and certified on Toyotas and they don't know how to get the window up, I was able to do it in 5 mins. When we got home I was starting to pull the door panel off and 1 screw cover, and 2 side clips were missing, and a relay in the panel was just dangling. My dad called them up and they said the pieces were already missing but I was the last one to check it out and I knew they were there when we dropped it off. Also, they said the relay is an aftermarket part so they don't touch it but my dad bought the truck off them and he had nothing added so if it is aftermarket then the Toyota mechanics put it in. We are still fighting them over these pieces that probably cost Toyota a couple dollars total but still they won't give us the pieces. So stay away from Bob Baker lots or be aware of all the BS you will deal with if you ask them to fix something.

selling cars that consume oil
I bought a 2008 Toyota Scion XB from IRA Toyota back in 2008, $22, 800.00 brand new had 7 miles on it. My problems started with an issues of the braking system. This car was bought commericaly for my small business. The car would not stop in a 1/4 inch of snow, the car would do a slide skid instead. I had a scarry evening in the first snow that fall. I brought the car back to the IRA Toyta and left it there for a month! The special techs came frm corporate Toyota in Califorina, checked out my XB Box and said it was fine and recommended "Better" tires for the NewEngland weather. After leaving the car at the Dealer for about a month, IRA Toyota told me if I don't pick up the car, the'll tow it off the lot in a tresspass tow. That was about 11000 miles.
We had a blown transmission at 22000 called roadside assistance, and Toyota roadside assistance said I wasn't covered for towing! The car wasn't getting there advertised 28 - 30 MPGs, We got about 19MPG and 23MPG after the transmission was replaced. Now I bought a extra Servive warrentee when we bought this car originally. The extra warrentee was about $4000.00 and should have covered me until 100, 000 miles. After the transmission was replaced, and a few normal oil change sections went by. We started having an
"oil consumption" issue. When I complained and said "I would have never bought this car if I knew it had an oil burnning problems. That's when the service manager took me in his small office and told me to read the "Service Manual". My $23, 800 Manual says "This car can use up to ONE LITER OF OIL IN 5000 MILES. The Service manager said this car is in correct and working "Standards" To what "Toyota Standards" are.
So my one year old car at that point was consumming about six quarts of oil every 5000 miles. Every time I filled the up with gas (about every other day) I was putting two quarts of New oil in. IRA didn't see the consumming oil issues, because I didn't bring the car into the dealer everytime it needed oil, which would have been every other day, for only IRA Toyota service to toss the owners manual at me and saying everything is in working order to "Toyota's Standards".
Now there is a Fededral Investagation going on Now on "OIL CONSUMPTION". Beacuse no one should go through what we have gone through. I challange anyone or everyone to look at there Service Manual and look and see what your Toyota, Scion, or Lexus says in the Service Manual, it is totally shocking! Toyota Standards are totally in question!
I have taken a loss this year for $23, 800 plus my advetising vinal lettering, time. I think Toyota and Toyota Bi- Products should be banned from the USA until they correct there "Standards
We have a pending Class action Law Suite on FaceBook under Toyota. Please find us on Facebook tell me your stories and sign up to my causes, and Join the fight to stop this Oil Consumption Issues and ripping off the American people. I lost the car earlier this year, because Corporate Toyota does not have an
Commerical Arbortration Program for when problems occure. I disagree that the company that was fiancing my car can sell me a $23800 car and then there is no ARBORTRATION, just because we are a small business doesn't mean we don't have any rights! We'll be seeing you in FEDERAL COURT SOON,
IRA Corporation, Toyota Corporation & Scion Corporation!
No new cars built today should be using any oil, consumming, burning, it's just inexcusable! buy American!

transmission and ecm problems
Toyota Sienna LE 2006 with 72000miles automatic broke down
on the highway --- refusing to go beyond 35miles an hour and
check engine light came on. The Toyota dealer claimed that the
transmission had to be replaced at a cost of about 5500 + and
diagnosed only transmission problem. To get a second opinion, we
got the vehicle towed to AAMCO, the transmission experts.
AAMCO replaced Valve body, Torque converter, and their
standard Banner Kit + transmission cooling system flush and
clean. AAMCO asked us to be soft on the transmission for a tank
of gas. Inspite of driving slowly, we noticed that the transmission
change from about 1st to 2nd gear was very slow and the car had
like a hiccup when trying to accelerate and exhibited vibration at
higher speeds. When we took it back to AAMCO, they test drove
the same and now claim the computer (ECM?) is not learning the
gear shift and needs to be replaced. Toyota dealer claims that the
8yr/80000mile warranty on the computer is only for a
manufacturing defect and refuses to acknowledge that the
computer is misbehaving. There is no check engine light or error
code, but the vehicle remains sluggish. We are waiting for the
pricing of the ECM module and would sincerely appreciate if the
problem is acknowledged and resolved by Toyota. Gone are the
days when Toyota was a reliable car --- we are frustrated with the
whole episode and unfortunately are not confident of what else
needs to get replaced to get the car up and running.

door weld defect
Toyota Sienna front door weld failure occurs spontaneously. Michelle at Toyota Corporate says "Not maint. nor operation fault" & "No different owner action to prevent". Letter sent by Toyota 11/02/07 stated in effect "If no noise...no action necessary" which serves to delay owner action until the vehicle is out of warranty. Toyota successfully shifted $2000.00 responsibility from themselves to me.
My front door (driver's side) makes loud cranking noise when opening and closing door on my 2004 Toyota Sienna. We have two Toyota's. My 2001 Tacoma is clearly better made and more reliant, and has had 70 percent less maintenance costs than my 2004 Sienna. Apparently, this is going to be another large cost which I feel Toyota should honor since most of the costs would be adjoined to maintenance and lack of on their part.
radio died
Went on a trip in my Corolla at the end of August. Packed 2 suitcases and put them in the trunk. Half way through the trip the radio starts crackling and popping and finally quits working altogether. When I got back from my trip I took the Corolla into my dealer, Kingston Toyota int Kingston, Ontario, Canada. They looked it over and then proceeded to tell my it was my fault. The said I put too much in the trunk and what I put in the trunk pressed up agains the speaker wires on the underside of the trunk lid and shorted out the radio. Apparently, you're not supposed to put things in the trunk. I guess it's just there for show. And I didn't even know they mounted speakers to the underside of the trunk lid, I mean who would think to look there for speakers? And even if they did mount them there, why would all the wire be exposed and suseptable to being shorted out? Why wouldn't they be covered over with something to protect them from such a problem?
Anyway, after arguing with them about it they agreed to order in a new one and would call when it had arrived so that they could install it. It's been over a month now since they ordered the new part and still no call.
This isn't right. The radio is under warranty so what's the hold up?
I've been leasing from this dealership since 1997. Thats 13 years of loyalty.
I won't be leasing from them ever again, once this lease expires.

I agree with you on this one. Toyota is a scam, the one here in Stockton, CA. I took my husbands Toyota Matrix, to Toyota Town, here in Stockton, CA, and these sorry people did not put motor oil in the car after the oil change, so we drove it to Sacramento a few times and after that the motor started knocking. We called them and they said, there is nothing we can do about that..But they were the ones that caused all of this major damage.. So Yes I advise people to stay away from Toyota Town or any Toyota Dealer..
very poor customer satisfaction

I purchased my used car in May 2010. I contacted my salesperson the next day because the driver's side door handle was broke. He told me he would have it fixed. When I brought the vehicle in to have it fixed I was told I broke the handle and it would cost $600 to have it repaired. It took 3 weeks of protest before it was fixed. Next was all the dash warning lights. This time I was told that they don't have the right equipment for my used car and I would need to take it to a Jeep dealer. Next was the break down because the battery was no good. Next was the brakes, rotors and tires which also was my fault because I "hit the brakes too hard". I was told that I would have to pay for it but because I just bought it they would give me a discount. BUT I would have to take the vehicle to a Jeep dealer to get the vehicle checked out. That was $175, the brakes were $400 and the tires were $300. I contacted Conicelli multiple multiple times for the "discounted" repair and, needless to say, they did NOT contact me back. I bared the expense when left with no other option. The treatment I received from this company was "nice" until after the purchase. Then they wanted NOTHING to do with me and the $1800 warranty? WORTHLESS!
shock obser

I will never in my life purchase a Toyota ever again. Once I bought the vehicle and left the lot my engine light has always been on. I then received a recall letter stating to bring the vehicle in to fix the false catalytic converter problem. Was a computer problem brought it to my dealership three times and each time left the parking lot with the day the light was back on. Now I have just payed this junk rav 4 off and my axle and frame are broken and Toyota has no care to fix my vehicle due to liabilty. The real liabilities are buying a toyota and getting very poor services and wrongly manufactured vehicles. Now I have an 8, 000 dollar vehicle that might not be repairable. Thanks a lot Toyota.
dealer's garage enter door hit my car when I drove in
At about 1PM on September 3, 2010, I went to Ourisman Chantilly Toyota (Toyota Dealer) (address: 4135 Auto Park Circle, Chantilly, VA 20151) to do Toyota suggested maintenance for my Toyota Sienna 2006 van. I follow Toyota's sign which shows "PLEASE DRIVE IN" and drove in an opened enter door (the middle door among three doors). However, after I drove in...

My Daughter, Lizbeth De Jesus, bought a Car two weeks ago in Courtesy Brandon Toyota, (Used Cars) when she bought the car, at the end of the month, the sale person, Last Name Pal, spoke with her, have her used car a Jetta in tradings, for (2, 000.00), she signed all papers, the Loan officer, told her, that he loan was approved, and she will received the Papers, and stop by to sign. After two weeks they called my daughter, and said "You have to bring the car back, we can not find any bank to finance your car". I think is very inresponsible and deshonest to sale a car to the end of the month, just for the commission, and then called back the client, and the client have to bring the car back, This is very inresposible action, deshonest, and totolly unacpetable. Thats is not the first time that this company do so, On 2007, they did it to me, the sold to me (2) cars, said everything is OK and then two weeks called me with the same situation. I do not if this is a practice from the salesman just to take commission to the end of the month, but to me this is a very malpractice, and very deshonest, and TOYOTa Company need to do an investigation, because from now and ever I do no buy any Toyota Car, and I want to be sure that no one in my family or friend do so, because we can reliable in peple they does not how to do businees. 1st time I said Ok, but second time, that was absolutely on purpose just to ge a commision by the dealer. I hope you can do sometime about this situation. You can reach me at )[protected], . My name is Elizabeth Diaz-Santos.

poor service
i go to toyota service centre at sg buloh(selangor) to service my car and also make a complaint regarding my back tyre having a problem.Attach together with my seat belt not function(cannot roll back after release from the slot) and my plate number missing by two number and i ask them to replace it.After checking they said that the rod of the tyre (from left) bend inside so that my tyre(inside)can be bald a little bit for long term and cost approximately around rm3000 plus to change it(whole set of the back rod) because my car is not under warranty anymore.that i can accept it.The thing that make me unhappy of my seat belt.cost to change it around rm 91.++.But they dont change it because no stock and my plate number also not change for the same reason.i'm really angry at that time. After that i go to nearest workshop around sg buloh to settle my problem.firstly my seat belt, he open the seat belt cover to find up what the problem. He found something block at the seat belt roller and he remove it after that it back to normal. That mean toyota service centre did not open the seat belt cover and did not checking up very poor service. And the back tyre, he used the pump machine to pump up the rod which is attach to the tyre and place it to the original place. And the cost only rm50.00 for both problems.Know i dont believe toyota service centre especially at sg buloh centre.poor service?
sales tactics
I felt VERY high pressure here. First visit I asked 3 times for lease terms, as Toyota is offering a deal on Camry's this month (8/2010). The salesman talked around it and only offered buy or "lease to buy" terms. Also, they would not give me anything for my trade in. At worst, it is worth 4, 000 more in "trade in value" above what I owe on it. I left PO'ed. Flash to one week later... Got a call from the used car manager telling me that he can offer me $7000 more than what I owe on my vehicle. Can I come in right now? No, but we agreed on 10:00AM the next day. My wife and I arrived at the exact time, but the person I had spoken with hadn't managed to make it to work on time. I dealt with someone else, then someone else, then someone else (yes, worked by 3 people for a lease that is nationally advertised). After 1 hour and 45 minutes, despite repeated requests to separate the trade in value from the lease terms, I could not get them to separate out the two deals---what will they give me for my vehicle and what then are the lease terms? The used car manager did add in that "I thought yours was a 4WD", so I can't pay you what I thought. They also would not tell me what the breakout costs were for "Doc fees", "tint fees" and other costs. In summary, the motivation for the follow-up call to me was only to get me back in the dealership. I resisted the high pressure tactics and decided to call around to 3 other Toyota dealers in the area and never mention the trade in, only that I want to lease a car. I got a straight answer and prompt response from another local dealer who told me exactly what my monthly lease cost and down payment fees will be, including what the "doc fee" and other costs break down to . Hope to finalize the deal in a few days. If it comes through as promised, I'll write a positive review on their location. About $100 less/month than what I heard here initially (again, without any trade-in).

why are second hand dealers allowed to sell cars with out a spare set of keys?
The saying goes that you learn from your mistakes - but maybe we can also learn from other mistakes, please would you use my story to educate your reader so that they do not have to go through this experience themselves.
Please could you use my experience to warn all consumers who are thinking of purchasing a second hand car from Dealers (even respectable ones like Toyota AutoMark)
Here is my story:
I purchased a Toyota Yaris T3 about 1 year ago (From Thekwini Toyota Westville) – I was not given spare car keys but they assured me that they would try and locate them for me. They never did locate them nor did they come back to me. Now my car keys have been stolen Toyota (AutoMark) will not accept any responsibility. My car needed to be towed to a Toyota and the all the locks and starter lock needs to be changed, this is all for my own account (quote cost R8500.00). I called Toyota customer care at their head office (30/08/2010) to complain about the service I receive. The arrogant consultant told me that if I buy a second hand car - they do not have to provide me with a spare set of car keys.
According to him Toyota (Auto Marks’s) promise to their customer is – As is. Therefore I have to accept this bad service / car: as is, and do not have a case nor are they prepared to assist me, with what I am assuming the costs. The reason why I bought a Toyota is because I believed that they would offer a reliable car/ service to their customers. However this does not seem to be the case.
If this is the case then I recommend that you never accept a sale agreement without a spare set of keys. I am sure that if you negotiated this at the time of purchase, the dealer principle will cough up the money to make another set of keys to close a sales deal.
I appeal to all consumers to learn from my mistake, and make sure that you the consumer negotiate the sale agreement that suits you, because after that period Toyota clearly will not assist you. This experience has change the way I now view Toyota and will change the purchasing behavior forever.
I feel alone and disillusioned and ask the following questions:
Who is protecting us the consumer?
Why are second hand Dealers allowed to sell cars with out a spare set of Keys?

I was just at the branch in TableView and trust me they work in all ways but ethical.
I went in with my wife and saw a fantastic little car at an affordable price. Apron discussing purchase of said vehicle. The sales manager says that the sale is "not ethical" as he has somebody coming to look at the car to decide if he wanted to take it. That's right, no purchase order in place(just in the hope his friend will take it- I say friend because that's the only reason I can come up with.
Obviously I felt insulted to a new standard and walked out but I would love to see monthly sales dropping in this branch due to "business ethics"!
no transparency and no manners
If you are thinking about coming here, save yourself time and just don't. I inquired about a mildly used car. I rode it and liked it. When it came time to sit down and talk, I was offered ridiculous payment options. Let me explain: no mention of what interest I would be paying, and no information of what the total cost would be. The car tag said 15, 000, and I would have paid a total of 23, 000 for what they wanted. Let me clarify that my credit score is 750. To make matters worse, the manager showed no manners. This is the worst way to do business, at the end they got $0, and I will tell as many people as possible to not come here.

You need to file a complaint with Toyotas Headquarters, specifically the CEO. If you turn this dealer into thier "boss", then they can get in a lot of hot water with Toyota. And especially since Toyota took a big "hit" with all those recalls recently, the company will take a very dim look at this dealer.
You can also turn them in to the Better Business Bureau, the state Attorney Generals office, and even file a report on the business with the local "lemon law" office.
Supposedly, this is the address for the USA Toyota Headquarters...
