Great game, minor inconveniences
Ive been playing the game for about 7 years (since December), and I can say that this game is probably the most enjoyable skateboarding game i’ve ever played. Ive played Skate 3, Skater XL, and several other games and this always persist. This game has so much diversity (if you have the money), from vert skating to realistic skating. Its all around an amazing time killer too, and it also got me to start skateboarding in real life.
However, it’s now time to get into the inconveniences. 1 Inconvenience would be the prices of maps. They aren’t crazy (like 1 dollar a map), but it adds up. My recommendation’s for your first map would be 2017 Tampa, SLS Hangar, or Mondo Ramp. Another inconvenience would be the Subscription required for DIY parks, which gives u Unlimited access to all DIY parks for 5 dollars a month. Now I love this game and everything about it, but at this point it seems like they’re charging too much. Although, the starter map is very good unlike another skateboarding game on mobile.
The community is absolutely amazing, including the devs who are super layed back. They allow just enough glitches that are fun, but don’t break the game. Overall, this game is wonderful if you’re willing to dish out a few dollars, but really you don’t have another option so they can ask as much as they want.
Potential
I’ve always loved this game, I come back and download it every once in a while when my boredom of it subsides and I need my True Skate fix again. The only issue I have is just that, boredom. You pay for a game that basically gives you a free trial. Why am I paying for a game that doesn’t give me the full game? That’s the trick, you feel like you’ve already invested your money so why not pay a little more for a new map. There are only so many spots on the starter map to skate before it gets boring. Not to mention the points system is buggy and sometimes when you spend your points on a custom board it resets completely, not only taking your points but also giving you a fresh, empty board. No custom design, and no cool wear marks that you’ve spent hours working on. The funny thing is, this game used to be free with the same content it has now. If I could give suggestions that would make this the perfect True Skate, include the “DLC” maps as playable maps from the get-go. That’s the purpose of buying a game, you shouldn’t have to deal with add-ons. Your money is made when people purchase the game. Also, fix the points system if it hasn’t been fixed already. It really takes a lot of grinding (literally) to customize your deck and when it takes your points and gives you nothing like a broken vending machine, it’s pretty frustrating.
It’s fun but
The game is quite enjoyable, but there are some reassigns I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. These include,
The amount of content you get, when you go to buy this game you should be willing to pay some more money to be satisfied with the game well than go ahead and buy the game, but if your like me and are not willing to buy content that should be included for complete omg missions or some coins, than you will be disappointed. The game comes with 1 map and the option to get one other map that you can buy without real money, yet the amount of time needed to get the coins needed to buy this map is quite outrageous.
Another thing about this game that I am not a fan of is the customization (even though it’s not as bad as the first part about the included content). The skateboard customization is not ideal for example when you buy let’s say some grip tape (with the in game currency that you spent a lot of time saving up) and you become bored of the color or design you might decide to buy another one but as soon as you do that you lose the the one you just bought. Another thing that angers me is when you buy different colored wheels and you decide to repair your board from scratches and what not, you lose your wheels.
In conclusion if your not willing to pay 5+ $ than I would not recommend the game. Otherwise if you are willing than it’s a great game.
Great Game
So I got the game and played it for a while and it feels great.
Advices: Show Skateboarder Legs Physics Version Realistic Mode♂️
The “Show Skateboarder Legs” makes you feel more realistic and fun to play. I like the way it is designed that part of the body is half opaque and the shoes are 100% visible. And there are even some animations for the character, that’s really great. I didn’t notice there is a “Realistic Mode” there until I read some worst ratings of this game, and then I tried it, and it sucked. The default mode is actually the “Fly Mode” or “On the Moon Mode”, which means the physics in it are too fake or the gravity is too little. The “Realistic Mode” is like “Mini Fly Mode”, although it greatly reduces the jump height or flip height, but it feels really rigid and sticky. No matter how light or hard I tried doing the tricks, the jump height is always that same little. Finally, the “Physics Version” should be called the “Real Realistic Mode”, because with the physics version on, you can really control and steer your board or player, the jump height is good and the feeling of control is realistic, it varies when you’re doing the tricks with different strength. So my advice would be, change the physics version to default and get rid of realistic mode. You can still keep current default mode and change it to fly mode or something to add some additional fun(For instance, people can do some impossible jumps with it if they want).
A Godsend
Ever since I stopped skating, there has been a skateboard shaped hole in my life. With the introduction of realistic mode, this app has pretty much filled that hole. This is the only skateboarding app that matters. But despite being the best, it's not quite perfect. I'll explain.
THE GOOD:
-Accurate trick detection
-Intuitive and satisfying controls that mimic skating well.
-Difficulty. Having tricks be hard to pull off makes them that much more satisfying.
-Well designed parks (for the most part)
-Slo-mo and rotational features.
-Easy to use session markers.
THE BAD:
-Too many micro transactions. I get that true axis needs to keep making money if they're gonna continually support this app, but they really should throw their fans a bone once in a while. I think that at least some of the Street League parks should be free, being that they're sponsored in the first place.
-Not much of a street element. There are places based on street spots but they are very arcadey. It would be nice to have an open area that's dense with spots but still based strongly in reality, like in EA Skate.
-Not much board customization.
-Hard to catch speed. This is more true of realistic mode. There should be some kind of pumping mechanic so that speed isn't lost on tranny obstacles.
It would also be cool if there were an option to have shoes on the board that preformed that tricks as you flicked them.
Overall, if you like skateboarding, this is the app for you.
FINALLY something almost better than touch grind
I don't want to over-sell this game but I think this game is terrific. A lot of fun, really simple to play and a quick fix if you're feeling like skating IRL or maybe playing some skate 1,2, &/or 3. However there are a few problems/complaints I have.
1. I understand this is mostly because of the controls but the fact that you can accidentally perform every trick by just swiping and slashing while you're in the air kind of makes the trick-book useless. Also it doesn't show you how to do the trick just the name of the tricks you've done makes it just a waste of space.
2. Another problem is with the grinding, you have to line it up perfectly which can be difficult because of how cluttered the skate park is. It would be nice to have a sort of "easy" grinding mode where you're board kind of gravitates toward the rails because its difficult to line you're board perfectly AND Ollie low enough to not over-shoot you're landing.
3. And probably the only other problem is the lack of things to do. Now I understand this game isn't very expensive and it is a lot of fun but with only 10-15 "missions" the real challenge goes away after about 10 minutes of play. The skatepark you have is nice but I really hope that with updates come new locations and goals.
IN CONCLUSION- this game IMO is far superior to touch grindHD but could use a phew more goals and a larger play area and then it's definitely a 5/5 in my book but as right now I give it a 4/5. Thnx for reading :)

So much potential
I’ve been playing this game around 3 years, and there’s no question that it’s enjoyable. It’s one of my favorite pass times, I love the missions and I enjoy getting combos.
However there are quite a few issues you should be aware of before downloading this app. For starters, its ridiculous that I paid $5 for a mobile game to begin with. But on top of that, each map is like another $1.50, this is a MOBILE game. I could’ve gotten BTD6 for the same price and been given a fully functional port with a complete game.
Secondly, they recently updated the swipe/truck system. It used to be somewhat easy to hit an impossible trick, if you knew what you were doing. It could be definitive as long as you got enough skills. However they’ve recently made tricks like Impossible Ollie have an EXTREMELY short sweet spot, which has really ruined the fun for me. I already spent hours learning how to hit the old impossible ollie just right so that it was consistent, and now one of my favorites tricks for combos is a waste of my time and a gamble at best.
Finally the customization is either overly complicated for no reason, or cost more money on top of the several costs already associated with this mobile game. I haven’t been able to find an easy tutorial for free, which is really disappointing since once again these skin packs that should be included with the default price are an extra few bucks. I can’t imagine anyone genuinely buys these who isn’t hopelessly addicted to P2W/DLC mechanics already
Love it
Really like it. Pretty much the only game I play on my phone. Have noticed a different in the mechanics of the board. It's almost as if you started from scratch on it. Which was necessary to add in the primo slides that we all freaked out about when we did it before you were actually able to. And the board mechanic isn't that bad, it does have some flaws. But oh well? You might mess one or two lines up... Big deal.
3 things I feel like you must add are being able to break your board.
Gapping too hard, knowing the risk that you might break it, (like in real life), the thought in the back of your head that you might have to spend some of your TC to buy a new deck.
I feel like it should be optional though, just like RM had an option. (Which I always use).
Maybe add in, that if you catch the back bolts on a high drop, you won't break it. But if you catch the tail or the center of the board you will. Just like in real life.
2.) the ability to click on a profile to view it. We have all these followers and we see all these sweet skaters on the featured list. But we can't click on their name to see the rest of their vids.
3.) The street league maps definitely need to stop being made. It was cool to skate where my favorite skaters had skated before in real life. But after the first couple, it got boring and I was let down to see another street league map was added. Mainly because I have to pay $.99 to get it, and they are all virtually the same map.
So overall, absolutely love this game. I've bought everything for it so far, I'll continue to buy everything you guys put into the game. 5/5 all day. Keep up the good work!
Great game with lots of freedom
First of all this game is absolutely amazing and got me hooked right away. The game just sets you down with a quick tutorial giving you a general sense on how to play the game and then lets you roam the park freely. This game is definitely worth the money and I have even bought some of the IAP to tell the truth. The purchases in the game are well balanced with most new parks being only $0.99 a piece. The boards are also well priced with packs of 4-7 boards being only $1 and same with the grip tape. The skate parks are really well done and polished. I personally don’t care much for the SLS parks because I’m more of an open park type player. If you are going to spend the money, definitely get a park or two first so you can have another area to explore and not just something for aesthetics. Personally I recommend for a more open experience to buy “the valley” and “inbound” as the parks you purchase. Valley having nice open spaces and inbound being huge with even a vert ramp included. Now to the small things that aren’t the best in the game. The boards and grip tape are a little pricy if bought with in game currency ( no IAP ) The controls could be optimized for more consistency. The trick list is in my opinion not done right. You pay $1 for a huge list of tricks with the tricks you haven’t done being darkened showing you haven’t done them. What I would really have liked to have seen is a guide for each trick on how to do them. If you play $1 you should be able to see how to do the hundreds of tricks you haven’t done. However with all of that said this game is a real legend of the App Store that is a must if you are going to spend any kind of money on the App Store.
Great game, has problems with new update
I got this game a long time ago and have loved playing it ever since, I had to buy the inbound skatepark and unlimited deck customization immediately. The Inbound park is a bunch of ramps and fun boxes, it also has quite a few rails. The original park has a little bit of everything and in my opinion is the best park. The new Schoolyard park is mainly rails, if you don't like grinding then I wouldn't recommend the park unless you look into it more. With the new update when you customize your board it is extremely shiny and the trucks and wheels turn different colors and flash and the board flashes also. If you don't customize you board this will not happen. It might not bother some people but for me customization is very important and I don't want to pay $.99 for something that doesn't work properly. I'm sure the creators will get around to this issue soon, at least I hope so. The deck customization in the game only means you can change the board and it's grip, they haven't added wheel and truck customization. I hope they will soon add this... You are stuck with some plane silver metal trucks and some very bright red wheels for the game until they add customization... This is a great game and it's worth the money, I don't ever pay for in app purchases however I did for this game and it was totally worth it. This game is not like you are riding a tech deck! The controls don't feel like your are riding a skateboard, however they grow on you fast and are easy to and use after to get the hang of it. Tricks are a different story and some can be hard to get down bit that's where the fun comes in. This is a great game and I have mess around with it whenever in board, even when I'm in class. hahaha. Great game if you like skateboarding you will love this app!
Fun Game, but Some GLARING Problems
I enjoyed how realistic this game was. When the game isn’t glitching out (almost never), it’s pretty fun!
On the iPhone 11, there is a weird glitch that messes with the physics of the game completely. This has been happening with increasing frequency to the point that it will happen after I play the game for five minutes.
First, The board will not Ollie (jump) properly. Instead, the board will begin to have a strange seizure. When it stops, the board’s inertia will keep it rocking. If you land the board on the tail at a 45 degree angle the board will take about 30 seconds to stop rocking back and forth. If you try to move while this is happening the board will go into a manual (nosedive). If the board is rocking too hard, it will flip over. When it flips, it will start the rocking again. This makes the game completely unplayable, and the only way to stop it is to restart the game. It has gotten to the point where I need to restart the game every five minutes.
This game also nickel and dime’s you to death. I feel like if I pay for the game, at least half of the features should not be asking for real money. Instead, the majority of items require real money, and the items that don’t require exorbitant amounts of in-game currency, to the point that you almost need to purchase the in-game currency to buy them. If you were to buy each skate park a la carte, it would amount to a whopping $34.69 plus 40,000 bolts (in-game currency). This translates to $42.61 in real money for only 33 parks! This means that parks cost on average $1.29, which is incredibly annoying considering I already paid for the game.
Other than that, the game is pretty fun and realistic. I like the added features of custom deck and grip design. Unfortunately, this game has some glaring problems. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this game for $1.99.
I love the game but here’s my feedback
I love the game but one problem I have is the tricks, it’s kind of hard for me to do the tricks and to make it worse they have a list of the tricks you’ve done but not of what you need to do for the game which makes it feel harder to complete imo. And with the trick list you can’t click on them and see how to do the tricks so you are kind of just stumped and yeah sure you can spend a dollar to see all of the tricks and gaps but then you don’t know how to do them so it’s like paying for a remote you can’t use because you need to buy batteries for it because it’s some weird battery you have never heard of. And I also hate that you are Stuck in one skatepark and have to buy your way into new skateparks, and when I say buy I mean with real money. But there are two skateparks you can buy with the in game currency but it’s flipping 400k total for both and to my knowledge the only ways to get this currency is 1.Spending time grinding and doing tricks to get this stuff or 2. Buy the required amount for 50$. And I did the math for how much it would be to get all of the skateparks unlocked including the 400k coins ones and it came out to be 33$ and then another 50$ for the last two so it’s a total of 83$ for all of the skateparks. And to do that and buy all the stuff for your skateboard like custom grips, all the tricks, all the gaps, all the wheel colors it would come out to a total of 8$ which isn’t to bad but when added tot the previous total it would be a whopping 91$ and for the custom board stuff you need to unlock it first with what I believe to be a 5$ thing that I had added to the previous total but if you don’t want to grind for 30k currency to buy the custom boards and grips that another 5$ so the total of 95$ on top of a 2$ game. And I know I am ranting about this and you don’t have to but cmon man this game is so money targeted for most of the stuff and on top of that it would take a load of grinding.
A few bugs worth mentioning, but overall a good game
Though this game is a very realistic skating game, perhaps the most realistic out of all skating games thus far, there are a few bugs worth mentioning.
1) The biggest bug in my opinion, is that the app does not correctly log how many turns a kickflip or a heelflip does accurately. For example, many times I have flicked my board and it has spun more than three times yet the game will log it only as a double kick flip or a double heel. This bug does not seem to apply to hardflips, dolphin flips, or any other secondary flip tricks.
2) The second bug worth mentioning only occurs when using two fingers to skate (like a tech deck). As soon as you place two fingers on the board, the board changes direction immediately, making it hard to hit rails or perform tricks. Try this. Swipe the screen down to get the board moving. Place your middle finger on the board. No problem. Keep your middle finger on the board and now place your pointer finger on the board as well. See the sudden change in direction?
These last two, I am not sure if this is a bug or not, but I feel it is worth mentioning as it is a little annoying.
3) When skating transitions, for some reason the board always has a tendency to leave the quarterpipe or transition pipe (unless of course it is a huge quarter pipe, as is in the first level). This makes it hard to trick off a mini-quarter pipe, catch it in mid air, and ride back down.
4) When performing a lip trick, it immediately ends your combo. Not to mention you get no points for even doing lip tricks. This to me is the most unrealistic aspect of this game. Why would you not get points for something that pros do in every contest?!?
Dont mind my ranting. This game is amazing. I have most likely locked in over 20 hours just messing around on this game. It is perfect for having something to do when your car warms up, when you are bored in class, or need to kill some time. Thank you developers!
Perfect game! Just a few things:
- We need more free maps and a test demo of the maps before we buy it
- Lower the price of the maps that cost gears (schoolyard, etc.)
- Fix a bug I found where if you go to certain corners in the map, set the spawn point there, switch to physics mode, then respawn, you will be under the map and fall for just under a minute (this isn’t a priority obviously but just something I wanted to say)
- give tutorials on certain tricks in the challenges (I.e do a dolphin flip, then the tutorial on which swipes to do to do one)
- fix bug where when you open the spawn point menu by holding the respawn button, then trying to change your settings will just keep on showing the respawn menu even though you are tying to go to settings. The only way to get out of this glitch is by swiping off the app, or randomly pressing the settings numerous pages (like my profile, current events in the community, etc.). This bug drives me insane, especially when trying to nail a big gap and needing to set your spawn point often.
- Lower the default price of maps from the crazy 200,000 gear price to 100,00 to 150,00 gears. 200,000 is insanely steep and hard to get. I have played for a very long time and only have ~80,000 gears. At this rate you would have to do dozens/ hundreds of thousands of tricks to get 2k gears. Which brings me to my next point:
- The games overall economy makes it so that I can do in impossible into a grind that last a second… and get ~20 to ~30 gears. Doing an impossible into a one second grind is for most absolutely insane. Even for someone who has played for a while and knows the ropes would have trouble doing this. So let’s say you hit this trick. You have.. let’s say you got 22 gears for the trick. You can do this dozens of times and get a cheap decal or you can do this HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of times to get a map. The other way to get money is challenges! Which tell you to do tricks (when you get to the farther levels) that you haven’t done.

Amazing game. But
I love this game, and I’ve been playing it on and off for around 4 years. I think about 97% is almost flawless. One of the few things I have problems with is the reset button. When you click the curved arrow, it takes me back to one of the many preset spots around whatever park I’m in. But my question is, why are the spots so random? And why does it never lead me to an obstacle? I mean I get that there is a “set session marker” function but if I want to continue skating all around a park without going all the way back to my session marker, I want to be able to quickly get set up for another obstacle if I hit the reset button, without having to make a new session marker. The markers that they have now (and I’ve noticed this in almost every park I’ve bought) lead you nowhere. I always have to take a few pushes and turn somewhere to access a nearby rail/jump in a clean way. I just want to be able to click the arrow and have it set me up for another obstacle. Another problem I have is with the primo slide and the manual tricks in the game. I think these tricks are almost useless in the True Skate trick arsenal. I can’t tel you how many times my tricks have been ruined by landing into a primo slide. And I know that part of it is on me, but I wish that the margin of possibly when it comes to doing a primo slide should be very thin. But for some reason it’s one of the most common things I see on my screen when I try and do any flip trick. I also think that the manual should be taken out of the game as well. Or at least made easier to do. I can’t find a way to successfully do a manual unless its for about 4 feet or if it’s done by accident. It seems like a person needs to have surgical precision to get a decent manual done. My last point is on The Berrics map that I bought, the coping on all of the quarter pipes act like a little nub and no matter how fast you’re skating towards it, you can’t get up the ramp smoothly. Your wheels hit the coping hard and you can’t get up the ramp. It’s a small thing but I hope you can change that. Again, I love this game. I just want it to be better. Thanks.

Easy to learn, difficult to master
There's only so much you can do with a touchscreen skateboard game, and this app does more than what I could have imagined.
The game, just like skateboarding IRL, is brutally difficult to master. It takes a lot of getting used to. At first-play it's just a novelty skate game and kinda cool to flick the board around. You might be lucky enough to even land on a rail!
Once you've taken the time to figure out how you can maneuver the board you'll enjoy the game in a completely different way. You keep coming back to try 'n land that 360 flip nose slide down the rail. Why? Not for points or trucredits or missions. You try because you want to. Because, like skateboarding IRL, you challenge yourself.
The opening park is actually pretty good, with enough variety to keep you entertained for the short time you should be playing the game. The missions (press pause to find) have you utilizing different areas of the park, landing progressively harder tricks as you go thru each mission. They reward you points that you can spend on in-game items like custom board graphics, wheel color, etc... The game gives an example of what the trick looks like before you try it. Based on how sketchy some of the later tricks look, I'm pretty sure they are performed by a human and recorded.
The missions are a decent challenge and even show you how you can manipulate the board. They seem a little overwhelmingly difficult at first, but once you have done a few of them, go back and try the earlier ones. You'll be shocked how good you've become! Unfortunately some of the later missions are a little sketchy and seem like they were just lucky to land.
Some suggestions to put it over the top:
-Add missions to the pay-parks. $.99 for a smaller park and no missions or gap challenges seems like a ripoff. Maybe even trademark tricks from the street league pros.
-Provide less sketchy landings in the mission examples. (Heck, I'll do them!)
-option to extract a recording for bragging rights.
-fix the nollie, maybe? Once you pop you can't control any flip since the grip tape is out of view.
-a true game of SKATE "with friends". Not score based, but trick based. You send the recorded trick to a friend and they can send an attempt back.

Core game great, micro transactions not so much
The physics of the game are great and play as expected with minor bugs with loosing and keeping score chains that you should or shouldn’t. The problems are how the micro-transactions work. First of all it’s not a free to play game it’s 5 bucks, it comes with one tiny map which is about as big as the rest of the paid maps. Most of the maps are very lack luster or straight up are bad like the mega ramp one where the physics just won’t let you get fast enough to enough get to the other side it’s a joke for a 2 buck map. The worst part is the two maps only purchasable with coins, and 200,000 for each of the two maps. That’s over 25 dollars worth of coins. Sure u can grind it out but I’ve been playing for two years and I’m at 180,000. If u grinded this as a daily game u could get 5-20k roughly each day if ur heavy grinding but if ur like me and pop on a few times a month when ur board you may get a couple thousand coins per play session. And sometimes you coins get deleted partially or wiped. Buying wheel colors are useless because it just reverts on next boot to the base white wheels and there was an issue with the board graphic deleting and me having to repurchase it with 10 coins. This game is unnecessarily greedy especially for being out so long. I should have to pay to change my board every time or have to pay a one time fee to unlock it as an extra feature. Everything fun or the least bit customization or progression of the game is tied to these coins and the store. It really needs to go free to play if this is how they want to treat the game. Or make the maps cheaper, or make the maps worth the price and make them full scale city blocks instead of small skate parks half of which being boring and a other percent being practically unplayable like the mega ramp course or pointless maps like love park. That’s not even a skate park may I at you and a crappy street spot anyways regardless of it’s real life lore, it’s not fun in a game and especially not in this games rendition of it. It’s a fun turn ur brain off pick up and play game. It just doesn’t offer a lot and the game just feels like it steals from you. Given it’s about a decade old it should be free to play at this point or have some serious upgrades but nope. 3/5 for lack of effort in content but a solid base game mechanics wise. U guys almost had a perfect skate game on mobile you just couldn’t help but be greedy.
Not true to skateboarding
I skate in real life and this game is not true to skateboarding at all. the title of the game is misleading and I understand that it's just for a phone but it's nothing like actual skate boarding.
Let me start off first by saying that the tricks are just odd as well as the grinds. let's say I go up a ramp and want to do a trick (say a tre flip) I end up doing something random such as a dolphin double heel. Thier are random tricks such as a "lazy grind" witch in reality is a willie and also a "rail slide" witch I believe is supposed be either a bs or a fs board slide when it's supposed to be known that both of those board slides are known as either bs or fs board slide. I don't know why they changed up these names however I don't believe that thier correct idk if the creators made them up however last time i l checked these were not the correct names of the trick. The mechanics and physics of this game are off, since no one is actually on the board you can't get proper speed to do any kind of trick like you would in real life. You also can't build momentum and you Ollie as if your in outer space. I know no is actually on the board but the game can at least pretend their is so you can have enough weight on the board to build proper momentum and speed so that the physics can be captured better. Their are settings to change this though such as "realistic mode" and changing up your stance witch is nice, however you have to look and find this in the game, it doesn't just let you know that these settings actually exist. Secondly everything has to be purchased from parks to the image on your deck, however their is a credit system but it does not work well. You pull off tricks to build up your true credit (TC) however, you only get about 3 TC for an a thousand point combo and everything that can be earned with TC averages from 500tc to 1000. So I don't take TC seriously even though I'm actually quite good at the game and have a good amount of it. Their are some good features to this though, the graphics are good, the skateboard looks cool and like an actual skateboard, and the sounds are nice from the crisp sound of the skateboard to the birds chirping out side. The realistic setting and sounds actually make you feel as if your actually outside. Other then this nothing special, at most this game is best if your bored like on a road trip and you just want to screw around with a game. I'm not trynna be harsh but this game honestly does not live up to its name I gave it 2 stars cause it's for your phone otherwise id only give it 1 so I was giving it some credit. If the game had a name like thumb skater since your pretty much only using your thumb or something along those lines I'd find this more fitting, however True Skate is not true to skateboarding imo.
AMAZING BUT, Street League Killed it
This game is amazing. Hands down amazing. It’s probly the best skate game I’ve ever played. I love it. I actually skateboard and this game even pleases me. I’ve been playing this game on the same 6 parks for months and months and months now and I still find new tricks to do and new ways to hit spots and even entirely new spots to hit. The learning curve is incredibly steep but once you figure it out, by god it’s the smoothest, most intuitive skate game I’ve ever played. I love this game. Well done Axis Game people, well done.
That being said, I think the addition of Street League to to True Skate did a huge disservice to the initial True Skate game. All of the True Skate parks rule. All of them. Every single one from Underpass to the Factory. If you don’t think so, it’s because you haven’t gotten good enough yet. Each park has it’s own unique learning curve, which I really love in a game. Every single one of the True Skate parks absolutely kills it, in my opinion. hOwEvEr, to be honest, not one of the Street League parks even close to lives up to my expectation for the True Skate franchise. I bought the SLS park, and was mind bogglingly disappointed with it. It kind of sucked. There was no really nice smooth lines or transitions. It just seemed thrown together all mish mash. I previewed all the other SLS maps after that and they all looked the same to my eye. I was around when Inbound was the latest update and then schoolyard got released. I remember when consecutive parks were as different as schoolyard to the warehouse. I miss those days. I haven’t bought a single one of the Street league parks since that first one. It’s really honestly great for you guys at Axis and True Skate to have made that connection with Street league, it really is. However, I think maybe Street League should let you still be their official app, as that is a tremendous plug for Street League (I’d never heard of street league even a little bit before True Skate) but should let your creative team of park designers take charge of game design.
True Skate is the first game I’ve played that is intuitive and free form enough to be an art form. There is enough variation in True Skate for a true and unique style of skating to emerge, and therefore for the game to be a tool to create art with. I really value that about True Skate, and I would like it to succeed and rise to the glory I know it can. Pool your new resources, invest in the best, and most creative creative team you possibly can, and start cranking out new parks. That’s how you’re gonna make profits. If you can keep pumping out new, quality parks, I’m gonna keep buying them the day you release them. I’m addicted to this game. It’s the only one I’m addicted to, It’s a really well made game. Overall of the review: STOP RELEASING STREET LEAGUE PARKS AND START RELEASING TRUE SKATE PARKS.
***UPDATE*** Oh and one last thing haha, I think the addition of a CLEAN and RELIABLE way to do manuals (and especially mani pads) would make this game absolutely undeniable. It would be the crown jewel of the mass gold palace that is this game. People would completely forget whatever a “touch grind” was and you guys would take precedent over the mobile skate market immediately. Great game guys. Hope to see some cool changes take place :)(:

It CAN be good
First of let me me say it's a really fun game the you can casually play whenever... But, it needs help. For starters kick flips are heel flips and heel flips are kick flips. Major thing that REALLY needs to be fixed. Also the Ollie/nollie mechanics are not realistic. When you Ollie/nollie it's not the pop of the tail hitting the ground that gets you air born it's the slide of the foot. It's not just the Ollie/nollie it's all of the tricks. Another thing the crash can is REALLY annoying. Also, there aren't enough grinds, I found my self doing the same grind OVER AND OVER AND OVER again. And lastly there is WAY to many in game purchases like way to many. At least put a way to unlock some of the other parks or boards or whatever. Good, but
I love this game from playing it, but I find that when I do get consumed in the virtual skatepark, I end up getting more frustrated than enjoyment.
This due to the SUBSTANTIAL amount of bugs and coding errors that occur in this game.
99% of the time I miss/land a trick, it will give me the opposite reward. I can land with the deck upside down and get points for the trick and land perfectly without error and get a "failed" message. I can't tell you how many times I've crashed from a small height, but fly through the air doing quad varials and land it without ease.
If you are going to charge money for an app, I think the honorable thing to do it listen to your customers when a complaint is stated. I have been watching these reviews since I downloaded and not a single update has been put out.

Thiiiiiiiis close to being the BEST skateboarding game on IOS
-You pay $1.99 for what is essentially a DEMO. You get 1 map, and every map after it costs $1 (There’s like 20). Everything in the shop costs real money except some aesthetic things, which is in-game currency you earn (of COURSE you can buy a gem bag for $4.99 if you don’t want to work).
YOU HAVE TO PAY $1 FOR A TRICK AND GAP LIST?
-The swipe controls are ALMOST there. As a skater, the intent for realism is nice. HOWEVER the “realism” is very clunky and uncoordinated. You can do the same exact swipes over and over with different results. That’s not realistic, and doesn’t help with a game.
Overall, this is could be one of the better skateboarding games on mobile.
It feels like the fix would be ACCURATE realistic controls, and make the fundamental full game be $4.99. Keep your pay-to-play gems in there, but don’t sell what essentially is a free demo.

Store is bugged, support staff doesn’t respond
This app has scammed so many already don’t be the next one. The store is bugged so if you buy something like a map or a custom board then be fully prepared for it to charge you, sometimes twice for the same store item AND STILL NOT GET ANYTHING YOU PURCHASED. Oh and don’t bother contacting support or their development team, they don’t respond and won’t refund you. In fact they’ll flat out ignore you and only respond to positive feedback. These guys are scamming it’s play base hard with their fault store and my recommendation is just don’t play this game. Invest your time grinding another skate game that has a team who is willing to work with its player base. Awful awful AWFUL support staff and same goes for the developers who left the store in it’s awful condition for this long profiting the entire time. I’d give less than 1 star if possible. FIX THIS!
The new glitch mode
I used to have tons of fun with this game. I would pump around the bowls, get going super fast and fly across the map while laughing with my friends. I would jump super high and make huge gaps and do super unrealistic tricks. This was what was fun for me. I have been playing this game since the iPhone 4 first came out and it has managed to keep my attention do to it's crazy, fun and unrealistic glitch mode. This has changed now that the game auto updated (only app in my list of needed updates to auto update) and ruined glitch mode, stoping the super fast push glitch in the bottom corner of your screen, and making your acceleration like a stock Honda Civic type R. You can now only travel around the maps about as fast as a toddler trying to ride a skateboard for the first time. This is very disappointing seeing how the most fun I had was in glitch mode. #maketrueskategreatagain #bringbackglitchmode
Very fun but with horrible glitches
Honestly, this game is really good. The tricks are so unrealistic that they’re fun and you can do lots of things. Without the glitches this would be a five star game. The glitches are the main problems. To begin, things just really don’t work well. Some tricks don’t register when you do them and no points are given. That’s not a big deal, but it’s the credit glitches that ruin the game. For those of you who have played and played and played just to get that 20,000 credit deck will know that getting these credits are extremely tedious. This game has the weird glitch that can just kill all of the work you’ve done. Two days ago I bought some wheels, and I closed out the game. Today I got back on and the wheels were gone. I bought them again and I didn’t care. Then I switched boards and went back. Guess what... they were gone. What’s the point of playing a game just to have your work flushed down the drain. Otherwise, the game is fun.
NEEDS update
Game is working on my ipad 2. Don't really understand why you ollie so high, or why the park is sooo tiny and cluttered, or why there are so many cables under the rails? why not make the rails like a real skatepark, with no cables? there would be more room to just cruise around, and it would look normal. It is super hard, like touchgrind, to do anything. Steering is really fast and not easy to line up for grinds, which are crazy unrealistic and not at all the same physics of skateboarding. You can boardslide with the tail dragging on the ground and pop out into a huge ollie then swipe around and do a huge triple flip thing.
Menus are pretty useless, as the challenges give no reward. Why not make a few more parks and decks? I guess skateboarders should be used to not having enough places to skate though.
There is a lot of potential, but it feels like the game was released before it was tested. It needs to be tested by actual skateboarders.
Hmm
First, make it so i can control turning sensitivity ie. tighten trucks. then make it so you can turn your skate directions while not moving ie. hold down ur tail so you can pivot and go in a different direction. then while ur at it, give us some manuals ie. nose tail, not instructions. I don't understand how people find this realistic? It is not intuitive at all.. First of all, You have to take your front finger off the board to even Ollie, that is bizarre. The physics are strange for that reason. If I was to go out and kick flip, in real life, I would have both my feet on the board and kick my foot up while popping down with my back. In this game you have to take your front foot off entirely, pop down then kick sideways, where is the realism in that? The idea is cool, but nothing close to realism. If you could take the physics and graphics and combine them with the control of first try Fridays, you would be golden. Nice graphics tho, could be better.
Money Pit
So this game is really fun, and really easy to waste time on. But there is one huge flaw, everything costs actual money.
You want to change your wheel color or deck/grip image? [protected] True Credits, that takes lots of time to earn. But you can pay $1 for unlimited wheels, or unlimited deck/grip images.
Getting tired of the same map all the time? Well you can't use your True Credits here, you have to pay actual money. Sure you have bundles, but 12 maps for $10 is ridiculous.
New update added a deck store full of sponsored deck images, you can even see these images on videos uploaded to Kamcord, great! Maybe not, these cost anywhere from 10000 to even 40000 True Credits! That's a lot of time for a single image. That's exactly what they wanted though, now you can buy these deck bundles for $1 with 3-8 boards in them, more money for them.
Now you understand how much money can be wasted in this game, and you'll start to notice how little they actually use it.
terribly addicting / frustrating: save your money
it’s a highly addicting game, but is riddled with in app purchases. most games these days have them, but with true skate, anything there is to unlock, there’s an in app purchase for it. it would take hours upon hours of playing in order to unlock a simple board change, but if you don’t want to wait that long, you can buy a new board for $0.99.
the touch controls are fine yet they can be extremely frustrating when having to make precise movements for certain moves, which i find to be similar to skating. the challenges can be fun, but some drag on for way to long seem like very little though went in to some of them.
i have put a good deal of time in this app, and i will probably continue to do so, it’s fun to mindlessly skate around and do tricks. but over all, looking at the big picture this app has brought me frustration and aggravation rather than joy.
it’s a fun app, fun to mess around with, but over all it will just leave you frustrated and your bank account empty.
Stepping on Legos
Where do I start with how displeased I am with this game? It is an amazing premise, do not get me wrong. And it fulfills some accomplishment gap when you land a few tricks.
But oh lord the bugs. I had thought that the seventh plague of heaven was upon me with the amount of half-recognized swipes, crashes from small heights, and impossible trick lines required to earn even a little bit of credit to...get this...earn more credits. Ah yes you can purchase new skateparks, slow motion camera (which is not available during missions), wheel colors, or other effects, but at 99¢ a pop it isn't worth it when you most likely won't complete the missions to buy deck images or such. You can't even use credits to purchase new parks. It also has no indication for how to do any tricks properly.
Essentially I would much rather spend my time stepping on Legos playing Skate 2, from which this game is a horribly made rip off of. Please I assure you God will come for your firstborn children for penance if you download this game.

I think this game is pretty good, nice textures, nice style of play, but not great.
I'm really quite disappointed that a paid app has only one skatepark, why pay for one? I highly recommend touchgrind skate 2 for anyone wanting more skateparks. I'd also recommend it for people wanting to CUSTOMIZE their boards. I have a customized board in this game but it took me a week to get because it needed so many points, in touchgrind skate 2 you can choose your own boards almost immediately and even add stickers to make your board unique. I also feel that touchgrind skate 2 has a better sense of physics. In this game you have to manually push and you just do late kick flips all the time with ONE finger. In touchgrind skate 2 you have TWO fingers so you feel that you are standing on an actual skateboard with your fingers. With these controls, the physics of doing a kick flip actually make sense, and if you do skateboard you can understand more clearly how you can execute an ollie or a pop shuvit.
Come on True Axis, up your game.
Honest review
I’m not going to lie I went into this with high hopes. Biggest letdown I’ve felt from an app that cost money to play. Tons of micro transactions. Sure you can buy the levels with 200,000 in game currency. But after roughly 5 hours of playtime I had accumulated roughly 7,000. Some tricks aren’t even worth attempting and you just have to buy your way past them. The Ollie impossible you can quite literally attemp for hours doing exactly what the tutorial shows you and it will never land. Every cosmetic item is wildly over priced. The base of the game isn’t terrible. There are cool tricks you can do. Not to mention the maps are pretty good. But any originality in this game is almost instantly murdered by greed, micro transactions or poor controls. I spent roughly 10 hours playing this game. Practicing it’s tricks and what not. And as I said at surface level it’s fun for a few moments. But if you want to actually progress and play new levels and land specific tricks the game is absolutely against you and against your wallet.
Pay to obtain, pay even more to play
You would think that a game you have to pay for would come with more than just one skate park. At first it didn't upset me that much, being distracted by the amazing physics/graphics, completing "missions" and finding gaps etc... but after having this game for a while now and realizing how boring it is to stay in the same skate park forever makes me not want to play it at all anymore. That's right folks. You get ONE skatepark when you Buy the game. You can upgrade your deck and tape images and wheel color, which is nice, but you can only own 2 boards at a time unless you pay real money. You would assume that the further you progress in the game, the more skateparks you can visit and boards you can unlock...- just like every other skating game that has ever come out since Tony Hawk In the 90s!... but you would be so far from wrong on that assumption. Do not buy this game if you do not plan on spending even more money. Go buy a bulk pack of finger skateboards from Walmart for $.99 instead and you will have way more fun.
DONT SPEND MONEY ON THIS APP
I’ve purchased all the parks, I’ve purchased skateboard customization. At one point I could ride all of my parks and I could change my board at will. Now I cannot access my parks and when I try to customize my board it doesn’t work. I’m also left with only being able to edit (not that it works) the grip tape, despite purchasing unlimited deck changes for 4.99. I also cannot switch between old school and new boards, when it says selected on my old school, it will not actually change and I’m stuck on my regular board. This app is very broken and has been for around a year now for me, longer for others. Honestly I would look for another skating sim if I were considering purchasing this app. For a long time hitting restore purchase would simply crash the game, now they “download” however when I try to access them each and every one says file corrupted. Deleting and redownloading has not fixed this. DONT BUY ANYTHING IN THIS APP. It’s a rip off, they’ll scam you out of your money and you’ll be left just as disappointed as I am.
PROBLEM WITH NEW IPHONE 11 Pro Max
Hello, I am writing to tell you that I LOVE THIS APP. It’s the perfect mobile skating app. However, I noticed that there is an issue when trying to play it on the new iPhone 11 Pro Max. I upgraded from the 10s Max, and the game worked fine. But as soon as I re downloaded it onto the new phone, the game changed.
The issue is when I go to Ollie. Simply tapping the tail of board does not “pop” the board anymore. This makes it extremely difficult to do tricks considering the board gets almost no lift from the back foot pop. If you hold down on the tail of the board, the nose of the board comes up but very slowly, until the tail hits the ground and it’s stuck in that position. This lagging effect is very frustrating. I thought it was because I had to readjust the sensitivity in the game to a higher level, but that didn’t change it.
I have found that you have to swipe downwards across the tail of the board for it to “pop” like before. It’s extremely awkward and not a good change. I don’t know if this is due to a change in the sensitivity level for the new iPhone or if it’s the app. Please look into this and fix it and I return my 1 Star to a 5 Star!
Uhh. What gives?
If your looking for a real, genuine, honest to the art of skating.. It's not this app. Clearly nobody in the building this was designed in has ever been on a skateboard. Yeah sure you can flip the board and do an extremely awkward/janky version of real tricks, but it's a 50/50 chance to land it. I'm sorry but the last time I went skating (today) I wasn't doing my kickflips vertically. Nor were my Ollie's an uncontrollable maneuver performed with one foot. Anyone rating this game over two stars clearly doesn't understand just how skating works in real life. Go buy touch grind 2, play it, and tell me I'm wrong, go ahead I'll wait. At least they got the concept down correctly in touch grind 2, yes there are little things wrong with it, like swiping your front finger before the back, but at least it let's you put two fingers on the board like you would in reality. And the physics actually resemble skating. This app is a mockery. Wanta try it out before you buy it? Go outside, find a board, try doing an Ollie with one foot on the board and one on the ground, one foot for both the pop (back foot) and the lift (front foot). That's what this app is 24/7. It's sad, bc I was excited it might be better than touch grind 2, but it's soooooo far from being anywhere near acceptable.
