I cancelled my service with Trugreen over a year ago because my lawn looked like crap after all their "treatments". Since then, every month, they have called and tried to solicit my business. Every month, I have told them no and to stop calling me. Today was no different.

Let me set it up. The phone rang and I saw that it was Trugreen. I answered at the same time that my answering machine picked up. I told the guy to hold on while the answering machine finished it's message. The salesman gave me his pitch and I again told him that I cancelled their service and please do not call again. I hung up. On the answering machine, you hear the whole conversation. After you hear me hang up, you can hear the saleman say "###".

NEVER USE THIS SERVICE!

THEIR "TREATMENTS" DON'T WORK!

THEY WILL SEND YOU LATE NOTICE AFTER LATE NOTICE EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE MADE YOUR PAYMENT AND PROVE TO THEM THAT YOU PAID!

THEY WILL BADGER YOU IF YOU CANCEL THEIR SERVICE!

AND APPARENTLY, THEY DON'T MIND CALLING THEIR PROSPECTIVE CLIENTS OBSENITIES!

By the way, he knew the answering machine was still on. You can hear it.

I forgot to add that I was not nasty to the salesman, either. I was nice, polite and courteous to him. That is how I expect to be treated and that is how I treat others.

Clearly, using words like "crap" you are angry. The company has strict "do not call lists", and I must mention that if you were on this list, you would not be called, period. Salesman have more productive calls to make, then calling someone like yourself that clearly does not want the service- it makes no sense and is not logical. I recommend you speak to the manager on duty and give him your name, phone number, and ask to be put on this list- if you truly wish to have the calls stop.

I would defiantly understand what this person is saying. All the salesmen are treated like complete animals. I can say this because i worked for TruGreen for 4 months. The salesmen are treated like animals, we had to sit there for 8 hours a day and make harassing phone calls to people homes until 8:59pm. Also i worked in there commercial department and companies did not want our services ether. All they did was complain about how we killed the grass and did not do what we told them what was going to happen. But after 4 months they laid me off. I thought it was a bad thing but i think it was a blessing. All in told TruGreen does not work and do not get there services. Point blank they like the money and do not like to service those giving them there capital. And yes they all talk bad about the customers...

I just observed a TG rep exit his vehicle, load up his broadcast fertilizer and spend all of THREE minutes doing a laughable treatment of the lawn across the steet. No wonder that lawn is never lush or green in all areas. How can home owners be so ignorant.

TG reps sometimes go door to door and will attempt to sign you up for everything you probably don't need, and most certainly at outrageous prices.

Do yourself a favor; for $50 or $60 you can purchase all of the lawn fertilizer, weed killer and tree/shrub feed for most
1/4 acre lots for a season. Doing it yourself (2 treatments/yr) might take 3 hrs or so but you can be certain it is done right. Service companies could end up costing you $400 to 500/yr and there is no assurance it will be done correctly.

Tell the reps (door to door or callers) to give you the addresses of 5 customers in your neighborhood and then go look at their grass. When I pointed out the grass across the street (TG customer) wasn't as green as my lawn the rep was ready with a generic excuse, claiming that customer didn't water her lawn suffciently, which of course I knew was BS.

I was a salesman for trugreen this summer I made them over 12 grand a month and it wasnt enough to keep the job. you have to be able to talk people into every service imaginable spider sprays, aerations, which I might add are way more than any other company charges 8 aplications a year of lawn care 6 a year of tree care. your talking over a grand for all these services a year. and the telemarketing is crazy too we call canceled customers all day long. and just as a side note if you have been a customer in the last 24 months it doesnt matter if you are on the do not call list they can still call you according to the fcc laws. So next time the trugreen guy is there do a little extra research before you sign up. find out if there is a local company that uses the same products that get the exact same results. a local company is going to care more about their customers. Trugreen is the biggest lawn care company in the world do you think they care if Jane doe is upset that she got called a bia or that a sprinkler head gets broken. they are a financial machine they make millions upon millions of dollars a year one sucker at a time. 2 days ago I was working and watched a tec flag a yard smoke a cigaret and leave before even doing an aplication.

I worked as sales audit and read from a script to get people to pay ahead or pay as you go. If they so no to both then there is a script for that, and if they still say no a script for that. They praise you if you do well and if you fall below their expectations they be-little you.
No means no and you can lead a horse to water, but you cant make him drink it, though they want him to drink it.
They continue your service without your approval and if you want to cancel they bug the hell out of you to stay with them.

I work for Trugreen, and in defense of the company. I meet people on a daily basis as a door to door salesman. And yes, I sometimes run into someone who has used the service in the past. Most people do not realize that they play an important part in our services giving them optimal results.
I always let my customers know that they have to take an active role in their lawn care. I have heard people tell me that TruGreen "Burned" their lawn.Homeowners need to realize that they have to water their lawn! You can't just expect to give your lawn fertilizer (food) and then give it no water ! It's a living thing. Just as we are. I would not just eat food and give myself no water !
Weather, consumer and TruGreen all have to work together for the best results. I tell all my customers that.

I work at Trugreen at the Clearwater center. We handle sales and saves! saves is really busy because lots of unhappy customers leave! thing I want to divulge is the drug use at the office. The manager Chris S not only knows pill popping takes place but he condones it. In a recent sales meeting one sales guy Steve K was so high Chris made fun of him in front of everyone. Kristen C who was just let go used to smoke pot in her car at lunch time. Mike C a supervisor was for 10 days wasted while Chris S was on vacation. About half the office is popping pills during the day. These drug filled crazies are also calling customers and handling customer calls. They have no sales ethics and the "do not call list" is a joke, we call people sometimes 10 times a day until they give up. Old ladies are easy targets and they will push and push until they get a yes! And it is really this bad!

"Jim" from Trugreen paid us a visit this afternoon after "treating" our neighbor's yard. I was in the basement and my wife answered the door and was speaking with him, as soon as he saw me he completely dismissed my wife and wanted to talk to me about the condition of my lawn. I told him that with a newborn in the house and other inside projects, I haven't spent a dime on my lawn all year (August) and was not interested in any "treatments". Jim went on to say what a fine job they did with my neighbor's yard and then proceeded to pick apart how my yard looked and asked if I fertilized myself. I informed the hard of hearing "Jim" that he was looking at the result of nothing being done and that I was lucky it looked as good as it did. "Jim" just couldn't get the picture and said I had a dandelion problem when I know for a fact I did not. "Jim's" sales pitch was to treat prospective customers like dumb monkeys and I'm sure he had words to say under his breath after the door was shut in his face.

"Jim" has lead me to this website and after reading these posts along with my experience, I will never pay/hire Trugreen for anything and I will spread the word of their arrogance.

I was just on a 2nd interview for selling Trugreen door to door. I was wondering should I just skip this job offer if they offer it to me? I have been reading mixed reviews on it. Trugreen sounds like it gets a ton of customer complaints. I'm just wondering if I should just skip this job if it is offered to me? I don't mind talking to people but I'm iffy about this Job. Any suggestions would greatly help.

I worked for trugreen over a year and I Would have to recommend to anyone looking for a Job to look elsewhere. That is unless you enjoy being threatened daily over goals that are not achievable and basically being set up to fail. This company has recently changed their pay plan to an hourly scale for its techs which was for "their good" Since then things have gotten worse. You are expected to now get this unrealistic amount of production in a short amount of time because... Bingo minimal overtime. And if you have a work ethic forget it. No way possible to provide any kind of quality under these conditions and the mgmt from bottom to top could give a damn about anything other than their goals. No sick days or personal time allowed. I suppose in these economic times if you can find any job you are lucky but be prepared to hear the words "what does that have to do with trugreen"a lot! For the sales reps. the way I understand it the reps that are currently doing door to door have not been being paid for their sales commissions so make sure you understand exactly how it is you are being paid before getting them business.
