There are way too many people selling faulty items on this site/ app. I have been used to using marketplace and for some reason I never had such terrible experiences there. I had a problem with someone who sold me faulty fur coat. I admit it is a risk to buy a fur coat, because if it has hasn't been stored properly it could be damaged from anywhere and you may not see until you get home. But atleast in letgo, people can report a seller and even leave a review (to some extent.) Here, there is no responsibility given to the seller. One person dropped off a notebook with 3 pages clearly ripped out. The admin is literally justifying this by saying maybe she forgot the page count. That's not even the point. She never advertised the page count, but how could she forget, she used and then ripped out a few pages and is advertising this item? The second person sold a shrunk wool sweater that wouldn't even be acceptable to give to charity. I think twice before donating things to goodwill, because I know it's not a garbage dump but here we have people selling their trash literally for money. On top of that, admin says we want to promote neighbourly sentiment so you can't leave bad reviews. In stead, you should get into fights with people, report to admin, to no avail and hope and expect to get that person kicked out of the site. This is more like destroying good neighbourly feeling and creating mistrust rather than anything else!

So, there's an admin in Southern Ontario, who goes by the name of LeeAnn, (but funny enough, she has NO FB presence or any other platform presence, ) and admins for 95% of the communities, has either failed the police academy and gets her jollies this way, or she's just insane.
She won't allow painted furniture in the furniture section. Even with zero business mentions. If she knows you paint for a living, she doesn't allow you to post in furniture. No links, no "PM me for orders." Nothing. But she' won't allow it.
If you are selling it to make money, it's a business... so basically, no one should be allowed to post because everything is being sold for money. Anyway, thinking of just closing my account. It's a pretty crappy platform. (And I admin for 2 communities!)
NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. What's changed all of a sudden?! I've used this site for over two years!

You don't even deserve the one star you have to get to make a post. Varage sale has became a joke. Whomever created it and set up "Admins" to run it, should rethink how it's ran. From using varage sale all the time, and never having any problems, to all of a sudden getting "revoked" because I did not get back to her sooner. Admins usually stress they have jobs and families that they aren't always on to answer messages etc. but yet I have a family I have to tend to so I'm not always on myself and I don't respond in a "timely manner" and I get revoked. Lol. & to beat all, admins think they have such a huge job to do that they can treat people so rudely.

If I could, I would be giving this 0 stars... A couple of years ago, I had an account. I used it A LOT and never had a problem with meet ups or complaints. One day, I was scheduled to meet 3 people for a mall meet. It was very short noticed, but I wasn't able to attend. I had a family emergency. My dad was being rushed to the Cleveland Hospital and I HAD to go. My account got marked for ALL 3 for not attending this mall meet! That in turn ended up being revoked from my community! I tried to explain what happened to a couple different administrators and they didn't care to listen. Now, when I first signed up and every time there was a change in rules, I ALWAYS kept up to date with it. I even would reach out to someone if I had a question. I could understand if I wasn't attending due to forgetting or just plain laziness and got revoked for those. But, this was a family emergency with MY DAD who was being taken to the hospital. My former community, Erie, had no sympathy or understanding for my family emergency. They only care about revoking you. I absolutely loved VarageSale. I just wish things would change and I wish I could get access to my account again.
My VarageSale membership revocation was and is still unjustified even after 2 years ago.
Admins
We moved at the end of April from Saskatchewan to Ontario. Before we came I asked local admin of community if I can join as we had some delay with moving company and we could use a site to buy things that we need . First admin denied my membership telling me my location is to far . I tried to contact them as we already live here for 3 months but both of them didn't reply anything.. there was also 3 rd admin I contact to for help but no response . I do understand that my location was to far but something like contact us when u r here would be nice. They just disregard all of it . Such a shame on the end of the day . Varage sale should be about helping and bonding in community but hey what do I know.
I forget to say its Oshawa/Whitby community.
I contacted them again after 3 months and with no problem my membership was approved . ??? Well sorry for venting .

I have run the same ad for android box updating for 2 years with no issues. All of the sudden my ad was being pulled for no reason by the admin. I did contact her and was told that I could only post in the "small business" catagory not the electronics under the subxatagory of tv/home theater. I tried repeatedly to explain that what I offered wasn't a small business by any stretch as much as any of the hundreds of other sellers posting hundreds of ads for items they sell on a commission basis. I explained that this would effectly kill any person looking for such ad to never finding it as it in what is effectly the "trash bin" of Varagsale. She has been unwilling to budge from her decision so I took time out of my day and found ads the same as mine in the same catagory that I was advertising in and forward pics to her. Which blabbed me a "known Rule breaker"
So I pointed out that if your to enforce a rule you can't be selective. I also found many other ads for actual small business in categories that deal with there business. My explame was if your looking for a roofer you would think to go to the construction catagory not the small business one. In fact I loved that exact point by finding a roofer ad in the construction catagory? Obviously this didn't sit well with her and I was notified that I was suspended from that community for continuous rule breaking? This admin controls 3 of the surrounding communities that I live in and she doesn't even live anywhere near them! I read and re-read Varagsle's terms and conditions and she has overstepped the 2nd rule. Andmintors can not dictate who member should buy or sell too. By pulling my ad down she has decided that the member of a community that SHE DOSEN'T LIVE IN are not allowed to find a solution to their media streamer problem.
Free market is suppose to be just that? As long as you are not breaking any of the laws of Canada it should be open. She used the term admin "team" has decided to suspended me? TEAM? their us not team in this ladies communities it's her rules she enforces and they change at her whim. She needs to be removed or at the very least made to follow the code of conduct set forth by Varagsale. I can back everything with all the conversations between us and EVERY transaction I have had with any other member. This is not fare practice. I would very much like to speak to someone from Varagsale Corp.
Unable to use the app
I love the idea of this app, but there are so many issues. It has been days and I still have not been approved for the community group I chose. This means that I am able to view all of the products posted but cannot message the seller which is extremely frustrating. The ONE admin responsible for this group seems completely useless. I have tried to contact her several times in any way that I know how, and all of my messages have been ignored.
Purchased an item from a picture description but when I got it home I realized it was a completely different item.
I belong to the South Delta Varage sales. I messaged someone over a week ago about a bookshelf. It took until yesterday until we could meet up. The house was very dark and I always get a bit nervous inside home of people I don't know. I looked at the bookshelf and the paint on the side of the book shelf looked the same as the picture. Something didn't look right and I thought it looked great in the picture so I said I would take it. I had to go set a truck to move it. When I came back we walked in the house and the lady helped me lift it. I wasn't really checking it out because it was heavy and I have a bad shoulder. I drove straight home and my hubby helped me take it out of the truck. He goes this is ugly I said I know it's weird because it looked so good in the photo. I pulled the photo up and that's when I noticed the back of the bookshelf was a different colour, I moved the shelves and found scratches they were trying to hide. The colour if the pins holding the shelf up were a different colour. The edges on my bookshelf were all white where in the photo they were all grey. The bookshelf wasn't as wide etc. My husband said it's not even the same one as the picture. I messaged the person who sold it to me and said I was not happy that this was not like the photo. I was told too bad you took it it's yours. I explained it was full of scratches and there were no scratches in the photos. It turned into a huge argument so my husband and I loaded it up and I took it back to his house. His wife refused to refund my money. I do racted admin and they said to bad so sad you took the item. When I asked what his accountability was by seĺling a different item then in the photo they said we can ask him to post accurate pictures. Are you kidding me. I do t want to use this site again. So disappointed. The admins were not helpful. So I can post items that don't work then say well they should have asked to plug it in and try it before they left. Come on. I want to take this to court not for the fifty dollars i lost but for the principal of this unmanaged site called varagesales
I am truly sorry to hear this happened. I Admin multiple VS Communities (not yours however).
Varagesale is basically a virtual garage sale and as such all sales are to be inspected by the seller before payment is made. All buyers have the right to say "Thank you but tjis is not what I expected and not purchase. I appreciate that it was dark but once you took the item home it is yours.
As for inaccurate image posted for me the seller would get a reminder to use actual photo, report documented and if there is a reoccurrance they risk membership privileges.
Please do not judge Varagesale by a single transaction.

No wonder when she came in my store she asked me did I know her from somewhere and I told her no I didn't remember her or know her
I know I've dealt with a lot of people as a prior swap meet business owner but my goodness this is stalking and haterism on another level
I think that there should be more moderators to check out the activity of admin

I am located in Richmond Hill and only a 15 to 20 minute drive to Stouffville, which makes it a group around my area.
I also noticed that other members located in Richmond Hill and Vaughn are members of the Stouffville site. Vaughn is a 40+ minute drive to Stouffille.
It would seem to me that the admin is unfairly picking and choosing who she allows to join. I find this unfair to other members as well as to the Stouffville members as it really limits the chances of selling or buying.
I would think that the admin would enforce her rule across the board rather than selectively picking and choosing.

“full” size mattress
I would like to make a complaint. Someone lied about the size of the mattress they sold me, they left me on read and will not answer. They stated the mattress was a full size, but when I went to place it in my bed frame it is a queen mattress. I want them to take the mattress back and I would like my money back. I have the mattress in it's packaging, haven't used it. They are welcome to pick it up but I want my $100 back since they lied.

I don't understand their logic. To use their service you have to be their customer for 90 days or more... It's confusing and misleading. How am I supposed to be your regular customer if I 'm new here and I would like to start? It's not fair and stupid. They also said that my FB has not enough personal information. I thought that personal information is called personal for some reasons. Oh well...
terrible person
I don't want to deal with these people anymore because they ruined my mood for the next several months by their terrible treatment.
They crossed all the lines and forgot about professional ethics when talking to customers.
I was insulted by one of them. He said he will block my account if I don't stop refusing to answer his questions regarding my issue. Was he crazy? I don't know. But it's unacceptable.
I really didn't know more than he wanted to know and had nothing to say. So he just disabled me and deleted all of my inquiries.
I am very disappointed that people like him exist on our planet.
2 pairs of boots.
I was selling some boots and a person showed interest. Unfortunatley the boots had been sold on another app already. I forgot to tske the boots down from varage sale. Well the lady who was interested became very upset. When she told me she was interested, I apologized and said someone was before her. I then remebered that the lady had already picked them up( I have been selling lots of stuff on different apps for weeks. ow as Ive been cleaning house)and went ahead and hit sold on the item. Well the lady got upset instantly and had the administrator kick me out of the community.
Complaint about unethical administrator
Are issues and complaints about varage just for public view? Is there someone actually responsible for overseeing actions and decisions of the administrators of each varage site? Or can each varage administer of a location run it the way they choose whether it is ethical or not? I have screen shots and other information but will only share if action can be taken.
I have issues with an administrator as well. I sent an email to varagesale before I stumbled upon this board. I screenshot the conversation I had with this particular power tripping, arrogant individual and they immediately sent me another message backpedaling from what they had previously said so I'm wondering if they can somehow tell you've screenshot a private message. Good luck to you. I know exactly how frustrating it can be!

Hi I was verbally attacked and threatened by a complete stranger on your varagsale site but yet they are still allowed to be selling on your groups? I was cursed at and threatened called names by someone I don't even know! She sent me messages from her site then I blocked her so she sent more messages on her husband's account this person should not be allowed to be selling on any varage sale sites!
Application to join victoria varagesale discriminated against
Hello, yesterday I applied to join the Victoria BC Varage Sale group. I wanted to buy an item and was trying to contact someone but had to apply to join the group first. I applied and this morning I got a message that says because I don't live in the area I may not be approved. The moderator wanted to know if I travelled there often and if so my application might get approved.
The about page for that group says they welcome all members from Vancouver Island. Clearly they do not! I live a little over an hour away from Victoria and I have joined other surrounding Varage Sale groups. Nanaimo is an hour away from me and I was discriminated against so why is it different for Victoria? I shouldn't have to explain myself to your moderators when it is clear that I live on Vancouver Island and their group says anyone from the Island is welcome.
I'll be sharing this experience with everyone else I know and I suggest you educate your moderators to take a minute and examine a map before insulting and discriminating against anyone else who isn't immediately in Victoria. That moderator should be released from their duties in the mean time.
I am not on Varage Sale often but I have have many friends who are and I will be sharing this experience with them. I'll be sure to tell everyone I know because I would hate for anyone else I know to go through this.
Tried to get my facebook profile removed!!
These people have a lot of nerve filing a complaint about me to facebook admin just because I wanted to use their app ! I am in utter disbelief that a supposed "company" would do something so damaging to another person or business for absolutely no reason whatsoever ! This was a personal, unwarranted attack on me, for no other reason except for completely childish, vicious behavior by their administrative employees . I will be contacting the authorities and filing a formal complaint against them and their ludicrous behavior !

I'm complaining about the administration who threatened to take legal action on me for nothing. Thier was an item for sale in asked to go see it in guess she also wanted the item but the seller was not responding to any messages . So she the administration took upon her self to email me an yell me I can't jump the line and if I were to go pick up the item and buy it she would take legal action. I have proof I never mentioned on buying only to see it. I would like to make sure this administration doesn't do this again to anyone . I do. Not appreciate being threatened . As I would like to report her. Could someone please contact me asap please.

A product came up in the que, I hit the interest button messaged the seller when I could pick up. Well a buyer behind me hit the interest button (I knew this buyer). The seller told me that there was someone ahead of me. I proved to the seller there was no-one in front of me, I hit the interest button before anyone. This seller lies to me and told me she received a private message before me and was selling it to that person. 1-that's against the rules. 2- I knew she was lying because I was sitting on VS when her product came up. There was NO time for someone to P.M. her. She was flat out lying. So I contacted the the next buyer (since I already knew her). She provided me their conversation. Turns out she lied to me and was giving it to the next person in line because she could come 1 day earlier. She was caught red handed in a lie. It was turned into an Admin. The seller deleted the item with NO PUNISHMENT. A STRIKE ONLY. THIS IS COMPLETE B.S. AND I AM TAKING THIS ISSUE AS FAR UP THE LADDER AS POSSIBLE. THIS HAPPENED IN SPRING HILL, TN. You can lie, cheat, steal and get away with murder in Spring Hill, TN and there is zero PUNISHMENT. She should have been revoked immediately. I am calling police. I am calling city Administration. I am trying to contact VS, news, radio stations, newspapers and everyone that will listen. They might want more stories, and I am working on getting more. Admins in Spring Hill, TN nees to tighten the rope and stop this immature behavior by adults.
