I have bought ‘Yankee Candles’ regularly over the past 20+ yrs for myself and also regularly as gifts for family and friends.
I have been having problems for a number of years now holding back on complaining until now.
A few Christmas’s ago I had lit a large candle whilst we were watching a movie, I was aware of my breathing struggling and had to use my Asthma inhalers, the air was really thick and slightly foggy. The following morning I noticed that all my paintwork, walls, surface tops were covered in a fine black soot, it was so bad that just cleaning wasn’t enough and the room had to be re-decorated!
I have had 2 large jars firstly crack and the glass break off, the jars were way too hot to handle to move them, so were put out and left to cool down before cleaning up the mess left.
More recently I have had a problem with several of the large candles.
We always use a wick cutter (bought from Yankee Candle)…and a long lighter to light.
One of 2 things has been happening, once the wick is lit and the flame established, either the candle does not melt or the candle blows itself out, and they are never put where a draught may blow them out.
It’s a case of clean the mess up and throw it all away but it’s becoming so annoying now and very very costly, and I now feel that I have no alternative other than to complain
