I love this app. But there are some reasons I do not. One is that so many of the backgrounds are boring, and we don't get enough new ones, or one that spice it up a bit. Maybe you could have 20-30 new backgrounds posted for an entire week and then refresh once a new week starts. What I mean by refresh is getting rid of the backgrounds you had before, and getting new ones each week. For example, every Tuesday we get completely new ones. Maybe the ones people like best from last week 1-5 could be posted somewhere and stay up for another week. Also, we need it more organized. For example, by themes: seasons, nature, emotions, quotes, music, etc. It would be much easier to find what we are looking for. Like I said, I like this app, but it needs to be tweaked a bit. I used to like Zedge for downloading wallpapers and ringtones, but ever since they pulled the premium BS the app has gone downhill. Never in my life will I pay to use a wallpaper or a ringtone. Especially when you can find billions of wallpapers on google images, or make your own ringtones using already existing songs. And not to mention that they’re insanely overpriced, where some wallpapers cost 2000 credits but the minimum amount of credits you can buy are either 500 for a dollar, or 2750 for $5. So if you want a wallpaper that just happens to be over 500 credits, you’d have to spend atleast $5 to get it. For a single wallpaper, that to me is ridiculous.

But hey, atleast we have the option to do surveys that never pay out, and watch 30 second ads over and over again for 20 credits a pop.

So I had this app for three years now and I have absolutely loved it...Up until the new update that made me want to delete it. Completely. I always go to Zedge for my ringtones and sometimes a few wallpapers here and there, but mostly the ringtones. So when I got my phone back from it being repaired only to find out that there were no longer any ringtones with the update I wanted to smash my phone into the floor. You guys need to stop being so greedy with money. It's better to be giving free ringtones and making people happy rather than getting rid of the ringtone portion completely and getting loads of hate and bad reviews. My advice to you is either get the ringtones back, or lose your good ratings and get considered just another boring old wallpaper app that has nothing unique about it at all.

The makers and developers of this app ruined what was once a great and useful tool that every iPhone user should have , and they did this by one simple mistake . Removing ringtones . Now I don't know what type of rules and regulations they have to go through to have their app presented to us on the application market but man did it ruin what was once a really great FREE app. I think the only useful thing I can get from this application is wallpapers ( that you can simply get online) that fit my phone screen.

The only thing that I wish and that I think a lot of Apple users also wish for .Is the reappearance of ringtones to the application . (Exactly the way it was before and not no mocked down version of it).

I hope this review gets to where it really matters in the development of this application .

I used to use Zedge when I was younger and I would always use it for ringtones and wallpapers I would also just use it to look at all the wallpapers that were there and after almost 4 years of not using it I thought to myself that it would be great to download it again but on my newer phone so I did, when it was done downloading I immediately opened the app and scrolled through bringing back old memories of the app yes it’s a little different but I loved it until I found out that you need currency to get a wallpaper that used to be free so I went to the search bar hoping to fine free wallpapers as I was searching them but there was nothing that was free all of the wallpapers had a price I was disappointed and filled with sadness that some people may never be able to use Zedge the same way I did when it was in its prime

I had Zedge for a long time, and I absolutely loved it. I was able to find my ringtones that I wanted, and I was able to get them for free. But then I stopped going on the app because I was completely satisfied with the ringtones that I found, so I stopped looking for more. Eventually I transferred to another phone, and I immediately downloaded Zedge and became disappointed. The fact that I wasn’t on there for a while and the amount of changes that were made for the app were in my opinion were unnecessary and the changes shouldn’t have been made. It’s also disappointing that now have to PAY to have those ringtones, and now I can’t even find the ringtones that I had on my other phone. It’s like they never existed.

I would recommend that this should change. I trusted and loved Zedge for a long time, but now I’m disappointed.

Waste of time. Really. Been using this app forever have had it on every phone. In the old days you could search so easily. Then I switched to android and the app was amazing there. So easy to use. Find what you want and been that way I n Android forever. Switched back to iPhone and tried app side by side vs Android. Not even the same app. It’s like the iOS version is just garbage. I have to scroll through random ringtones can’t search them they are buried almost all the way down. And then I have to go through a manual to get it in the phone as a ringtone. I mean come on on Android I push a button and boom the ringtone is found installed and set for anything I want. On iOS nope.

Don’t waste your time. Just download ringtones from the web and copy them into your iPhone. I’d give their android app 5 stars the iOS one is give it negative stars if I could.

I have this on every device android, iPad and even iPhone 12 Pro Max but for some odd reason it doesn’t work on the iPhone pro max. Every time I open it it just keeps sayings servers can’t be reached try again later. I’ve even gotten a hold of them and they’ve done nothing to help me. They don’t get back to you and if they do it’s a week later and it’s a new agent asking the same questions. I’ve already sent them a screen shot of what it’s saying and still no response on how to fix it. I’ve even checked my settings to see if there’s any interference that’s preventing it from working and there’s none. It’s not even a good app anymore anyways. It’s easier on droid to use cause you can download ringtones but the millions of ads now is nuts and it’s not worth it to pay the monthly fee. Guess it’s time to delete it since there hasn’t been a fix yet or a response from them.

I used it have this app two years ago on my Samsung Galaxy S3. I loved the wallpapers since they were HD AND it had ringtones.

But now, it has no ringtones and the wallpapers that were supposed to promise HD quality, turned out to have blurry wallpapers that just look ugly. If you were to download the wallpapers, it would just look like a cheap placeholder for the phone's background.

I thought I would have a chance to spice up my new iPhone with few new ringtones and wallpapers, but now I see nobody else can do that or say the same for any kind of phone they currently own or when getting a new one.

I used to love Zedge, but now I have lost interest in wanting to keep this for new updates (for which all of you reviewers know, they will never bring back the original quality the app used to have) or be their app supporter. Goodbye Zedge, you have lost a customer.

I’ve had Zedge for years. Years. 5+ years. A few years ago I found the backgrounds I was happy with and haven’t had to go back to the app for a long time. I also don’t auto update. After finally getting a new phone I decide to update and open the app again. What’s this? A point system? Wallpapers are now worth certain “points” in order to purchase/download? But don’t worry, if you don’t have points you can buy some for as little as 99cents! How shameless can people be? I’m deleting this app. There is no way people are seriously paying for this. No. Way. Is this what the app and smart technology world is turning into? Finding a way to charge you for ANYTHING. This is laughable. Do what we did as young kids and go back to using the Google search. Absolutely ridiculous that they think this is acceptable. Never coming back. Microtransactions are an absolute spreading cancer.

This used to be one of THE best wallpaper apps for iOS! Key words there are “used to be”. It has since been ruined by not only the change of the UI, but even more so by the change they made that requires you to have or buy credits now to download certain wallpapers! Come on! Really!? Who pays for their phone wallpapers!? No one! They’re freaking wallpapers people! They should be free! I’m willing to bet that most of these wallpapers can be found with an image search on google, and even if they can’t be, I still wouldn’t pay for wallpapers! A one time fee for a wallpaper app, sure, no problem. Buy credits just to download a certain image, no way, not on this app or any other! Let’s face it too, what can’t be found on google, can be found in another crappy wallpaper app on the iOS store! They’re a dime a dozen in the App Store. Zedge used to be the exception. Not anymore.

When I first got this app, a number of friends and family were using it and showing me their new wallpapers and ringtones. So I, wanting to have a fun and nerdy ringtone, jumped at the opportunity to get this app. However, my excitement was quickly extinguished when I found out that the apple version of this app has a LOT less content than the android version. Especially in regards to ringtones. When I wanted to find a certain ringtone someone had shown me, nothing would pop up. When I searched for content from games or movies that I like, nothing or very minimal content would come up. And this is all in comparison to my android associates who had practically endless content from my favorite things. It’s just… disappointing to me.

Tldr: I wish that this version had all the ringtones/content from the android version. But if you’re looking for wallpapers, this is an alright app.

As someone who has the app on both android and iPhone let me say the idk if android paid Zedge extra or something but it is waaay better,the android version
Almost everything ringtone is free same with wallpapers,the iPhone Version has micro transaction after micro transactions,the android version is so easy to use it pretty set’s everything up for u,iPhone version if u don’t know how u could have just bought and downloaded u still could struggle to figure out how to set it?,android version once u download something (90%of the stuff is free) u the app ask “would u like us to make this your ringtone?”and can set each thing for a different contact,I’m disappointed because Even though I could figure it out the older generation might just see this app as another bad one.but that’s not true because they’re completely different on the platforms I’m not sure why? But I’m sure it’s disappointing

Analysis: Literally an Android cut-and-paste ad tracker app. An ad tracker portal with free & paid content which means by licensing Z Credits’ content we’re literally paying to get profiled. Creepy. Master Jack Dorsey and his slaver team of rEVOLutionistors is gonna Greater Good the poop out of me for posting this.

I’ve been using this app for nearly a decade between android and apple devices. It’s always been buggy. The search feature has always been very poor; when you enter more than one search term, it shows any results that have EITHER term. So, searching Halo 2 for example, you don’t only get the Halo 2 theme as a result, you just get any results that include either the word “halo” or the number “2.” Besides that, now I’ve got an issue where the ringtones don’t play in the app. I was using it one second just fine, and it was playing sound for a demo of each ringtone. I went to change my search terms which for some reason was broken, and it gave me no option to enter any text anywhere. I closed the app and re opened it, only to find that now no audio works at all.

The people behind this app... I’m not sure if they just don’t care, or if they’re monumentally incompetent, or what. This is awful. Don’t bother.

I must say I agree with StarNerd420 %100. Zedge used to be a great app but now that u have to pay or use ‘credits/points’ to get wallpapers is garbage. Definitely not worth having to pay for credits to dwnld wallpapers u could find in a million places online for free if you looked. What gives? Why the sudden need to make us pay for freaking wallpapers? Is it just greed or what? Now that the creators of Zedge have decided to jump on the micro-transaction bus, it’s time to delete this crap.
I used a version of Zedge for many many years and loved it. I got a new phone. (switched from android to I phone platform) and had to dwnld Zedge again. Well I got the new version, obviously, and what the f&@$. Can’t get any wallpapers without buying credits. F%& off! U can keep ur cheesy ad pushing garbage. I deleted it and moved on. I suggest everyone else do the same. There are many good free wallpaper apps that don’t do that crap. Give them a try, instead of supporting these money grubbing micro-transaction trolls.

Zedge used to be the best ringtone/wallpaper app out there. Used it for years and it was indeed a 5 star then. I’m not even writing this because of the monetization model. I’m writing this because where did all the good content go? Do a basic search for certain things and instead you’re giving a whole bunch of irrelevant garbage. Search up attack on titan, you get giants and some football stuff. Anime opening and endings in general don’t seem to exist anymore. This app is literally useless now.

I’m sorry to say but the most recent update has ruined Zedge for me. Zedge used to be a place where I could come and find the best ringtones, the funny ones and everything else. I mean this used to be the hub for music and sounds! But now it’s all gone. Accounts don’t exist anymore, so everything I had saved...wiped away. Every single memory I had on this app was just erased all because someone wanted to modernize this app. I’m glad you have people who like the change...but I’m not one of them.

I used to have this app on my old phone and I loved how I got to choose any ringtone and wallpaper for FREE. Now you need to use credits for everything. Wallpapers should be free anyways. You can use Pinterest for wallpapers. This apps wallpapers aren’t even that special to use credits on. I’ve noticed the developers keep replying to everyone saying the same thing on how you’re supporting the artist or whatever. Even that makes no sense since it’s just for a simple wallpaper or a short ringtone.

I bought a new phone and all of the Z points are gone. I had over 2,000. You can’t even click on the icon to add more. I don’t recall ever having a user name and password so I’m not sure if that’s the issue? All of the emails I’ve ever had and the passwords I use don’t seem to work. I’ll raise the rating if/when this gets resolved.
UPDATE: apparently this is still a problem. I have now upgraded to another new device. I had over 3,500 credits on my iPhone 11 Pro Max. Now all of those credits are gone!

Seriously deleted all my wallpapers and deleted your app. Why pay for your wallpapers when I can just go online and download them? Waste of time, and waste of money.

(Update): you can claim it’s to help the “artists” and I can understand that, I run photoshop and creator. I can literally find these all for free, and making most of your “art” is not hard at all, most of the time these people have uploaded pictures from previous publishers and tweak them, their not artists, their piggy backers and zedge is rip off train.

I don't like the iPhone version of this app. Androids is perfect! Pleeeeassse just make it one in the same. iPhone you have to pay for everything and you don't have as big of a selection on iPhone as we do on android. Android, I can look something as simple and iconic as scooby doo and have thousands of ringtones to pick from. But, on IOS it's nothing of the sort. There's like 3 or 4. I was hoping if more people complained they would've fixed it by now and just start using the android version for the iOS but apparently not.

I used to love this app for getting wallpapers. I opened it up recently and now every wallpaper costs currency, which means you have to watch ads to use one wallpaper. I’ve uninstalled the app. Google Images is free and that’s where most of the wallpapers from Zedge come from anyway.

Zedge wants us to know about their premium service and says the free content is still there. If it is, it’s VERY difficult to find because I went through the entire thing and every wallpaper requires Z points. I miss the old app. No wonder they’re getting nothing but one stars now.

First off, this app used to be 100% free. No credits needed...nothing. So that's 1 strike.
Secondly, not sure if it's just me...but trying to even search ring tones is almost impossible. Strike 2.
Lastly, even when I found a ring tone there's no options shown to even use it. Strike 3.

Zedge...you've gone down the rabbit hole of being a crap app.
You used to be extremely easy to use, easy to search for things, and had everything anyone would need. Now you're just annoying and money hungry.

No clue what’s goin on why isn’t there ringtones?! I just switched to an apple from Samsung and boy the Apple store is a joke! Zedge what are you doin! I have used y’all for the past 5 years on Android loved you guys the options were endless but this Apple app you have is a disaster, there is no ringtones not even half the wallpapers and u charge for each download? Seriously get it together! Just because you shouldnt drastically reduce the quality of your app... seriously you were the only place I could find ringtones and wallpapers I LoVed... no I have no clue where to turn

I had this app so many years ago, i recently got married and i wanted to put my wifes and i's song as her ringtone, so i thought "hey! Ill get zedge, i loved that app" so i downloaded it, and my excitement turned to dissatisfaction. Instantly when i downloaded it it looked different, and i couldnt find ringtones, and i noticed a thing up in the top right corner, i clicked it. Wow, disappointed, i now have to pay for things, zedge if youre reading this, youre terrible, why did you start charging for stuff? If anyone reads this and liked how it was before, youre gonna be like me, disappointed. 1 STAR.

I’ve been using this app for almost 6, 7 or 8 years like since I was an Android user and EVERYTHING and I mean almost EVERY wallpaper including ringtones, text tones were all free. Probably some dumb boss decided to sell it to some an even dumber boss and figured; “This is the next best thing and it’s the greatest thing to ever happen to the company!” Until they realize that they’re LOSING THEIR USERS.
It’s almost kinda like ‘Tron Legacy’..;new CEO Comes in then charges it’s hungry user an arm and a leg including their first born to use the special amazing software when it supposed to be free to all.
...so um, what happened Zedge?‍♂️

I’ve been using zedge since iPhone 5 and I remembered it being awesome, you could find almost any ringtone tone and it was free, I switched over to android and it’s still pretty much the same only you have to pay $4.99 for the year to have an ad free experience which is no big deal, I recently switched back to IOS with iPhone 12 and I noticed that the ringtones that were there before are no longer there and almost everything is behind a paywall with no option for a $4.99 per year experience, what happened to zedge? Oh yeah greed lol, hopefully one of these days they eat some humble pie and give us that great content that was there before and we all come out winners :)

Before you download this app, you should know that the reason it has such great reviews is because it WAS awesome. It had every ringtone or wallpaper you could ever want-a tonne of wallpapers for every tv show, movie, celebrity you could think of. I had ringtones like Ain’t Nobody Got Time For That, Annoying Stewie Griffin, The Ring (from the horror film), Disney songs, rock songs. I had a funny clip of a man yelling Wake Up! as my alarm. Oh and you didn’t have to pay for them in any way shape or form. I get it the creators want to make money; make a new app! If you’re going to take away all of the things that make your app special and fun, don’t use the same logo and name Period
