unethical behavior from cashier
Today I experience a rude clerk when I ask why have you put the Drano with my editable things. His respond next time bag your own and stop complaining.
He went on telling me words and I responded that why you have a job to serve us not to be rude to me when I ask why have you put the Drano with my editable things.
He went on to the next in line with very rude words about me. I find that when one brings own shopping bags the cashier are more rude and mix the stuff in our bags.
I was serve by Jeff [protected] July 05 2018 at 7.30 pm today.
I had the same experience with another cashier and Manager did nothing before.
But today I felt that it's the only 99 cent store that I have ever experience rudeness.

I am Native American and felt prejudice towards me from the gentlemen very rude.

She is the rudest person at ever encounter. Careless and lazy. She was amking fun of my accent and almost refusing to walk and showed me where to find an item. She acted like even if I complaint about it no one will care. She needs to be train. Terrible example for the rest of the employees. Terrible attitude. Many other people want her job. She doesn't deserve it she looks miserable doing it. Good luck. Extremely sad to give power to a person who can't handle it ;)

Employee was very aggressive and bad temper. Poor professional service, I love shopping and spending my money there for their good price and good service but today I got mistreated by their employee [protected] name Cynthia who works at the store #128 Bakersfield 4200 Ming Ave. Bakersfield CA 93309. I put a complaint to the manager of the store and didnt take me seriously, I would like to keep shopping in this store but I wan them to resolve my case because with a service like Cynthia's they are going to lose alot of customers.

lazy employees
I Went to the 99 Cent store in Atascadero CA for two weeks straight looking for pumice stones, and have asked the store manager when the shipment will be coming I find it ridiculous going there Everytime and the store manager just tells me they must have it out back but there are "too" many things back there to look for it. Something needs to change!
managerial incompetence
I purchased three rugs yesterday at the $.99 only store in Huntington Beach on Angier in Springdale. To the rugs I purchased did not match my Decour and the other one I found a giant ink spot strategically located underneath the description tag of the product . It was only one of this color so I washed the rug and tried to remove the stain however it did not remove from the fabric. I took it back with my receipt and my two other rugs and I was told by the manager that she would not exchange it nor would she give me a refund because it was used! Used? I just bought it yesterday the only reason that it had to be wise just because there were stains on it that were hidden under the tag I told her. I then asked to speak to her supervisor. She was bonded with I am the supervisor and I'm not gonna do anything for you I said excuse me? And she ignored me I said I am going to call the corporate office then and let them know how rude you are and how weird you've been to me in front of all the customers in front of all of your employees and all I asked you for was to treat me fairly as a yes and client of your store and exchange my bath rug! Tell me go ahead and call I don't care and that's where it ended I have now placed 10 phone calls to customer service and they said I would be answered in the order I called it is been four hours and no one's called me back! It seems as if the customer service department is either quite busy dealing with complaints or there is an organized I don't know how to run Hey customer service office I would appreciate a contact immediately at [protected]

I went to shop the grand opening in livermore, california. I noticed the different prices🤔🤔🤔 hmm. Was charged more than 99 cents too. Your advertising & sign is misleading. Needs to say 99 cents & more, or 99 cents & up, but, that sign needs to be changed everywhere, all of them. Love the store, but,, hmm so misleading
When I use to shop at 99 cent store in san lorenzo, at the green house shopping center, everything was 99 cents, even items that were sticked a different price, they would charge only 99 cents
I agree with Esther and would like to add that your founder would have never charged more then 99 cents. Now all you have is false advertisement in your name.
rude employee
I never believed those stories about dirty stores, high prices, and rude employees until I experienced the same. I'm a loyal customer at 99 cents in Irvine, CA. I got a rude answer from a guy working there. I think I didn't deserve treatment like this because I just asked where I could find some creamer. He said that if I need something I should just look at pointers and don't distract people. But it's his job! That was rude.
filthy fridge
I usually shop at the 99 Cents store #47, in Reseda, CA.
A week ago I wanted to buy yogurt and went to the fridge. That was such a dirty place! Looked like it has never been cleaned at all. This is very dangerous to keep products in a place like this. I already made needed calls in order your store would be checked. But if someone from your store or 99 cents representatives read it, please clean the fridge, it will take 15 minutes only!
misleading ads
I disagree with your advertising on tv about selling items on $0.99 cents. This is fake. I saw items much more expensive than $0.99 cents. For instance, from $2.99 and more... It's perfectly fine if they sell more expensive items, the choice is wider. But if so, then just change your store name and do what you want. And don't mislead customers showing your ads. Because they think everything in your store is $0.99. And when a cashier tells you a different amount much more than you expected to spend you feel cheated.
Please stop lying to customers!

I went to the 99 cent store. Bought 2 boxes of 40 security envelopes for 99 cents each. I checked the receipt; and, found both boxes at 99 cents; but, the subtotal was $2. How is this legal and fair? My adding of 99 + 99 = 1.98 not $2. Is this even legal for them to do this with advertising it as a 99 cent store?Everything is 99 cents except for items marked with a different price. How can they advertise one thing; then, charge another?

Well first off they f-ing suck. Second off their baskets can't make a good enough turn and caused my poor poor poor poor innocent child that will never EVER harm a fly to become hurt from that stupid basket. THIRD the employees didn't even come to see if she or I was okay and it was extreamly rude. How dare they this place sucks!
I have witnessed Sandy Merlini retaliate against employees she does not like. She belittles and demeans them...almost to tears. She micro manages certain employees, but not others. There is high turnover in this store and we customers wonder why.
Someone should stop this treatment of good employees and reprimand Sandy for her actions.
Today after shopping at your store only 2 cashiers. Long lines. Politely thanked tge cashier who was african american and her response was "uh huh". She needs to learn how to greet customers other than "uh huh"when we pay her salary. Poor service today at 83rd & Thunderbird in Peoria, az.
