I moved over 300 miles away from my gym. They told me they cancelled my account and I was fine. $120 in charges showed up on my card down the road, and I'm due for $40 more before my official cancellation letter goes through. I moved into my sister's house because I developed an auto immune disease and can't work or even really get out of bed and eat food most days. The last charge overdrew my account and now I have to ask for money to bring my account positive and get groceries, which is an adventure all its own.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer's satisfaction.
I joined a gym that employed the use of ABC Financial and my findings were this...
1. I contacted aforementioned gym about canceling my membership before said year contract was up. They did not say anything about having to fax a letter to this service for them to cease charging me.
2. When I did fax a formal letter Nov. 9th, my account remained "pending" until Jan. 4th during which they continued to charge me for the gym membership.
3. They have no reasonable explanation for this nor do they for a "30 day processing period". I cannot imagine a gym membership being so difficult to cancel.
I would not advise this service to anyone.
These gyms are all rip offs. Anytime fitness is the same don't trust owner in Naples Florida 13040 livingston rd. unit 18. They never tell you, you have a choice of 12 month or 18 I have a witness and she will tell you the same. I only used for 2 months not a clean place unless you do it yourself then watch others never clean. Letter faxed from the gym by owner. Key returned on the same day May 10th 2011 . These people are liars and cheats. They will never let you out of contract. They don't care moving lost your job etc.Gym never tells you they use ABC or Myiclub. Can't ever get in touch with them. I let them take more then enough my for not using gym. Only six months left they still won't cancel. Moving and no anytime fitness in area they lied about that also. ABC BIGGEST RIP OFF or MYICLUB.Don't ever use a gym that does not go month to month you never know what hardship these people have put me through...Don't ever use these people or anyone that does...
My son signed up for temporary summer gym membership. He prepaid in full. Student membership expires on 9/01/2011. ABC Financial Services billed my son yesterday for 12 additional months at $99.00 per month. My son called gym to verify conditions of original membership contract-Fitness Edge said he is completely paid up and owes nothing and that his membership expires on 9/01/2011 with no further obligation. Another Fitness Edge employee verified the same information. Subsequent call to ABC FInancial Services yielded no results. Employee Thomas claims that my son owes $99 minimum for failing to cancel with 30 days notice. There was no automatic renewal clause. The only word that "Thomas" at ABC Financial repeats (over and over and over) is that my son's contract stated that a fully-paid member "MAY" retain membership privileges. That's it! So, the gym says he owes nothing, but ABC says he owes at least $99 additional --hmmmm? Wonder who would get that extra $99 if we paid? Doesn't the Better Business Bureau care about this? The personnel at ABC Financial "MAY" be less than straightforward...Jim Bottin, PAUL SCHALLER, Keith Trawick, Steve Ayres, DANA MILKIE, Sean Jameson, Holcom...Where is this money going?
I joined a Lady of America Fitness center with a 1 year contract. Along with the 1 year, there was an additional 2 years available for renewing at the same price. After joining, I read some bad reviews on this site, or one similar about National Fitness (the previous company name that handled the gym's financial stuff) and the problems that people were having when they tried to cancel, and not renew, after their contracts were up. So, when my year was over, I sent a written notice of non-renewal. I sent this letter CERTIFIED, so there was no question down the road. Oh, but was I wrong! They have tried to get around this in every way possible. I have had to EMAIL bank statements proving my EFT withdraws from my account, because they have no records showing I paid the dues for 12 months. Well, if they are doing automatic withdraws, isn't it their responsibility to take the money? So, the emails were somehow never received, so I then FAXED over copies with, again, another request for a cancellation confirmation letter. I then receive, not a confirmation letter, but an email stating the EMAIL I sent could not be connected with any of their accounts, and asked if I would AGAIN send my account number with the bank statements (FYI:my member number was in the subject line of the email). So, this I did. I actually sent this email repeatedly, about 5 or 6 times. Waiting patiently for my cancellation letter, I decided to check my bank account, and sure as ###, they EFT'ed my account for a 13th month! At this point, I am getting ready for battle. Please do not do business with ABC Financial or National Fitness. They are scammers! I will also be going to the gym and making this public knowledge to any prospective gym goers...you bet your ###!
The visit was useful. Content was really very informative. visit giftwithlove dot com(Online Florists).
ABC Financial has a scam going!
I was told by The Fitness Edge, when I told them my daughter cannot fulfill the one year contract because she would be going to college, that all I would have to do is send a letter in writing 30 days in advance. They never told me it was a separate collection agency which would require much more than a letter. They wanted, on letterhead, a copy receipt of her tuition payment, a copy of her housing assignment, and her class schedule! As angry as i was, I sent it via the attachments I had online (she goes to a "green" college- no paperwork). They refused stating it must be on letterhead, and suggested I go down to her school's office to have them print it out on letterhead! OK, so now I'm fuming. After many frustrating conversations with supervisor after supevisor, I finally go a hold of the president Paul Schaller. He quickly agreed how ridiculous it had been for me and he would cancel it. Three months go by... 4th month, charges on my NEW credit card (I had cancelled that card and got a new #). I promplty called Paul Schaller, who apologized and said he would take the charges off. Not only did he NOT take the charges off, I was billed yet again! My advice is to stay away rom any gym who has their billing services with ABC-- never again!
Never use a gym who uses ABC Financial!
A little information on ABC financial. They are hired by each gym and only do what each gym tells them to to. I owned 2 gyms for ten years and any time there was a question on whether to charge a member any fees in question, ABC always called me and asked what I wanted to do about the amount in question, always! The owners of the gyms make ALL the decisions so if you have an issue with membership dues, talk to the owner or general manager at your gym. I can assure you that they are the only ones who pull the strings with ABC. Hope this helps.
