Since the last few months airtel has been charging me for a service(Hello tunes) for which I have never subscribed in the first place. On being questioned by me the Airtel customer service supervisor replied " You were informed about the subscription of this service by an sms and there is no way the company will give you a refund". The said SMS was " Hello customer your subscription for hello tunes has been updated, for any issue sms back to this number". How the hell am I supposed to know by this SMS that Rs.30/- will be deducted from my prepaid balance everymonth ? It does not even mention that this is a paid service or if you have any complaints then you have to take acion within 7 days. What sort of a policy is this ? I think Airtel is just trying to loot its customer in such manner. Please take appropriate action. In a hindi speaking country where most people do not know English such an SMS would be illegal and is nothing but a way devised by airtel to loot people.

My wife receives a call that she has a pre-paid Airtel connection and there is a special promotion going to convert it to post paid by paying Rs 500. She agrees to make this change and somone comes to our home from Airtel and fills up a form and asks her to give a photo id and copy of the drivers license. Then he leaves his name and number as Rohit - [protected] and promises it will be done within 24 hours.

She believes this person as he had all her details and pays him RS 500 in cash and does not insist on getting a receipt.

After a week, she tries to follow this up as the phone is still pr-paid and calls this number and realises that the number does not exist.

Since then she has been calling Airtel customer service to find out what is the status and everytime she hears a different answer. She has been asked to fax the Airtel form which is the only proof we have for this and she has already done it thrice.

She has managed to get in touch with Rahul Malhotra, floor manager and he claims that the complaint is closed as someone from customer service has visited our residence and she has changed her mind. They are full of lies and when she asked to provide evidence of such a communication, there was no answer.

As expected they always say that they will get back to you in next 24 hours and it never happens.

At this stage we are not sure if we have been cheated by an unscrupulus employee as it could be a well organized scam. We also believe that it could be an insiders job as the person pretends to be an Airtel employee and give all the personal information to win your trust and gets money in cash and disappears.

This will be only possible if there is alink between someone from inside Airtel. Selling database of information is another thing that should be prevented. These companies try to make money by selling your personal details which gets abused by unnecessary calls and exploiters.

The call centre guys are absolutely hopeless and I do not know why they should be there in the first place. They only give you run around and you achieve nothing.

In fact Airtel is advertising this kind of scheme and making it easier for this kind of things to happen. Now we are in a situation where we do not know where we stand.

I strongly feel that Airtel as a company should ensure that we as a customer do not get affected as their name and pre-printed stationary is used to document this information. They also should have a better customer service facility rather than employing this kind of incompetent people.

I started getting charged (Rs 30 per month each) for 2 unwanted Value Added Services I had never subscribed to - (1)Airtel Talkies and (2)Celeb Gossip. With every unwanted SMS there was a number which I can call and "unsubscribe" (510100). On calling (for a week straight) they just kept on saying "This service is currently not available" charging Rs.2 for every call.

After that I decided to call customer care. The executive sounded irritated of having to take my call (though I'm paying 60p/min for this), stopped *ALL* my VAS's (including the one I had already paid for) and hung up rudely.

This is direct thuggery...what do they take the consumers for? I've switched over to another network, and have been able to persuade my office to not entertain call from airtel vendors (for 'official' connections) in the future (we've moved to Idea. I'm using vodafone for my personal collection now). I hope they rise up and take notice after the loss of 3000 high ARPU (>Rs.1, 000 pm each) customers; wish this was US so I could sue their as* off for this, but at least something happened...I urge you guys to act on similar lines in response to this...this is the only way to fight such corporate hooligans.

I had taken a prepaid connection of Airtel in Februrary, 2004 with the number [protected]. I got the same recharged from time to time. In January, 2006 I got the same converted in a Post Paid connection while retaining the same number. At the time of shifting from prepaid to postpaid as stated above, I had an unexpired balance of more than Rs. 3000/- standing in credit of my prepaid account. Airtel people had agreed to carry forward the same to the credit of my postpaid account to be adjusted against my future bills. I had since than following the matter with Airtel people for crediting of my balance to my account in my postpaid account. They have kept the matter pending for more than four months with the assurance that my said balance shall appear in my next bill. This practice continued for more than four months. Now suddenly they have told me than there was no balance in my account which they have earlier acknowledged on phone. They have thus cheated me.

This is the second time I am complaning against Mr. Abneet Khurana. Today again I called up Airtel Customer Service and the person who picked my call was Mr. Abneet Khurana. The issue was that I was supposed to submit all my documents ( e.g . my ID proof, residence proof etc.) to keep myself connected. I have done it already . I have submitted all my documents to Amrit Telecom, E - 23, Shop No. - 5, Dilshad Colony. Earlier I had called Airtel Customer Service and this address was provided to me by the Customer Service Executive where in I can submit all my documents. I have submitted the documents on the 7th of August . 2006. But this Mr. Abneet Khurana told me that I will have to submit my documents once again but he could not give me any solid reason why should I need to do the same again. I wanted to talk to a TL or may be somebody senior who could help me out . He simply said you cannot talk to a TL. also told that no TL or Manager can help you out. Only I can help you out. Tell me the purpose why do you want to talk to a TL ? and so on. Is Airtel Paying the TL just for coming to the office or they actually are there to help the customer out. And are we not supposed to talk to the TL ?

One fine morning my out-going facility is cut. I recieved a voice message stating that I have to contact the customer care number 121. I heard from the customer care official that my mobile connection has been cut (without any notice) because the address verification proved me wrong. The actual fact is I had given the correct office address, I had an airtel personnel coming to my office for address verification. He had contacted my office security-person to visit me, then I recieved the information from security-person and visited the airtel-personnel for address verification. This clearly verifies the address (what other thing clearly verifies an address? do they want some angel to appear before them and testify?). Now airtel says my address will be verified again (that is after 8 days). Till then... what happens to my outgoing calls? how will I make calls? what happens to my business time? what happens to the bloody phone-rent? will that be discounted? certainly not. When I asked this same question to the airtel customer care, she says right on the face "nothing can be done!". Then what the hell kind of business they are running out there?

I have had an airtel postpaid connection no. [protected] for more than 4 months. As i was out of station for sometime, i was not able to pay the bill for the month of november on time. when airtel contaced me i told them that i am in roaming, i.e. out of town and will pay the bill within 3days atmost. they verified if i was on roaming and said that they will wait for me to pay the bill and assured me that my service will not be deffered for the next 3 days. but on the same evening my outgoing was barred. I did not mind it as i knew it was happening due to non-payment of bill. but the next day i.e. on 20-12-2006 my incoming was also barred at 1:30AM, i.e. the middle of night, thhough i had come back to the home network and my incoming was free! i contacted airtel customer care from my friends mobile and was told that my services would resume immediately. but my services were not resumed. I then refuesed to pay my bill as they were not listening to me. a few days later an executive of theirs came to my house. I told him of the issue and he assured me that he will get in touch with his seniors and would make sure that i get a satisfactory compensation. I waited for his reply, eagerly. then on 31-01-2007, i got a call from a Mr. Sheikh Oberoi, who claimed to be a lawyer from Airtels Legal cell. He told me that Summons had been issued for me for court case at 2pm the same day. i aurgued that i was told to wait for further talks by your airtel executives and had not even recieved any legal notice what so ever. I asked him that whether he would drop the matter if i paid my bill and he said i had only 2 days. Hence i was FORCED to pay the bill. when i paid the bill i was told that i had a rent for the month of January. i told them that the connection had been closed since 20-12-2006, then what is the meaning of rent? i was not given any answer. I told them that please disonnect this connection as i do not want this connection anymore, but they tried to puzzle me with round talks.

I bought Airtel prepaid card which worked only for few days and I receive a message that your number will be discontinued due to not submition of documents.

I have informed the vendor and submitted the documents 3 times but every time the phone got activated for couple of days and again was discontinued.

finally I approached Airtel outlet in Vashi where I was informed that your sim is not usable as documents did not reach Airtel office. I lost 100 Rs. which was in my card and they chaged me extra Rs 100 for new sim. I again submitted the papers which they verified and assured me that this will be activated in 3-4 days. Now its more than 15 days and still the number is not activated.

I have called numerous time to Airtel outlet but they just give silly reasons every time above that most of the time they just cut the phone. Its very rood to receive such service from Airtel.

I expect them to tell me the reason for this number not getting activated which never happens.

I am on a post paid plan of airtel where in I shud be charged Re.1 per unit(1 min) of std call and should be given 300 mins free local call from Airtel to any mobile. while the final bill came, I was charged at more than Rs.3 per unit(1 min) of STD calls and not been given the 300mins free local call from Airtel to any mobile.

I was making the calls under an assumption as, I am being charged as per my tarrif plan. and when I complained they replied callously like, even though I am under that plan, but I haven beein charged the extra Rs50 which is part of this bill plan which makes me eligible for this discounts.

I dont understand whats my fault in that.. i am subscribed to a plan and they do agree to it, but instead of an appology they are justifying it as since I am not charged the rs 50 as per my bill plan, so I was charged this extra amount. its their fault if they havent charged the correct amount and not given the proper discounts.

I have taken pre paid mobile with Samsung set. In which I was informed that you will be getting 2 year incoming with 2400 air tim Air tel to air tel for local only. Now the amount is not showing when I ask for the balance.

2) Almost daily one call comes from Air tel in which they play a song and after that amount of Rs 3/ detucts from main balance(STD), I have never ask for such services.

3) When ever I call to service center they are unable to give any satisfactory reply and even they cut the line without full conversation.

I got a SMS from Airtel saying I can pay 234/- within 7 days to get the special offer. When I reacehed the outlet to get pre-paid charged the shop person also told me that I need to enroll to this within 7 days. Now the balance in my account says I need ot use this money within 7 days. I am lifetime customer and hardky spends 100/- Rs per onth and now how they can think I will spend 234/- per week? And also the message sent to me is misleading to customer. So I want to go to the consumer court.

Airtel has a serious problem with their bill payment system for add-on connections. This would affect those who are making an online payment. Problem has been reported to Airtel and the ticket number Airtel has provided is: [protected]. I have also provided the payment reference number: [protected].

Whenever an add-on connection is taken, Airtel associates a second account number to the second phone number. Subsequently when a payment is made using the second account number, though the payment gets processed and debited from your account, Airtel has no clue or trace of the payment.

Additionally the bigger problem is the fact that the customer care is not ready to understand and respond to the problem. I reported the problem long back and subsequently I provided all the details they needed but no one has responded or are aware of the details I submitted.

This is such a frustrating experience and I never imagined this is the way they treat customers who are using their services for almost 7 years now.

Though the Internet option was activated on 05-09-2007, I am unable to save the settings sent by Airtel on my Mobile to view webs. When I press the key on mobile to save the settings the title "Only 20 sets allowed .settings discarded " appears and saving of setting not taking place. Actually the internet was activated in April 2007 and was worked for 2 hours and suddenly it stopped. Then frequent visits to customer cell could not help to restore settings, hence I have cancelled the internet option in April . But when again I tried on [protected], this problem is repeating.

I have been paying RS 49 for my sms to become 1paise per month. The rent is automitacally being deducted every month for the past year suudenly 3 months back my sms started becomeing charged @ rate of 5ps per sms and my rental became Rs 29 then it became 10ps/sms and now suddenly has become 50ps/sms i still pay rental of Rs 29 but why have I been chardged full rate? When i have enquired with Airtel, i spoke to four customer care executives each one have given me different reasons. To make matters worse one of them told me that since i recharged yesterday my sms has now become 50 paise but when I told them that I want refund for my recharge and want to discontinue with Airtel, The executive actually told me that the service is available and that the Airtel super visor would call me but for the past 2 hours there is no concern from thier side. I wish to inform all the users here NEVER TAKE AIRTEL as they only know how to CHEAT their customers!

I wanted to apply for an Airtel - Landline and Broadband combo plan and called a sales guy. He came in a day later than promised.

When he dropped into my office to collect the forms - he asked me to just sign on it and said he would fill in most of the plan details. I thought the poor guy must be super busy so did the needful as he asked me. Little did I know that I trusted the wrong person. he did not take the details properly - I mentioned to him I need a wi-fi connection (now he denys it). Said in 3 days the set up would be done.

After a week he calls me askin me which plan I required. He had not even made a note of it. And then on his own put down that we needed a regular modem.

A week goes by and no information. The guy does not respond to calls either. When we registered a complaint with them and threatned to go to the police (and consumer court) as he had a copy of my house rental papers and also pictures, Airtel said they would do the set up in 3 days and after following up with them again they sent a technician.

The technician was also yelled at by Airtel as I told him we needed wi-fi and he tried to set up the same. Airtel and the salesguy tell him that we only asked for regular modem. When I spoke to the Salesguy and told him he was not right and I would complain to the consumer court he says "Go tell anyone you want". He was very rude.

And the numerous complaints to them seem to fall deaf ears. Such is the service of Airtel.

I have a serious issue with the postpaid connection of Airtel with the bill generation department. I have this connection for 3 months and I have been making payments of my pevious bills, but the organization does not have methodical or structural format for updating their systems and customer information for which I have been getting bills which cannot be possible. The updates given by the customer Service executive is not at all convincing and they do not have a valid explanation to give to the customer.

Above number is the Nodal Officer number for AP. I recently converted my post-paid airtel connection to pre-paid and was told to make a payment. Soon discovered that the payment I made is excess of what is actually required. When enquired about the same, they (AIRTEL) said they will send me the cheque for the difference amount. Its been 6 months and I am contacting different customer support people and offices and none help me. None know what to do.

When I contacted their Nodal Officer support, they heard and also recharged my mobile with some amount as a token of satisfaction and promised that I will receive the cheque in 10 days. Its again a month since this happened and they have no clue what is happening. Now even these people are not lifting when I call, and do not answer my emails too.

Very highly frustrated.

I am Joseph, a software professional working with Merrill Lynch india Technology Services, Chennai. I have taken an Airtel prepaid connection(No: [protected]) on feb 15, 2008 from a mobile store, choolaimedu, Chennai. I had submitted address proof(election ID card) and one photo for activating connection. I got it activated on the same day. Feb 18th I left to mumbai for an official visit for 5 weeks. After 2 weeks I received a call from airtel that there is some mismatch in address proof and I have to resubmit the proof otherwise my connection would get deactivated. I asked them 3 weeks time as I was in mumbai, and they accepted my request. Things are fine up to this point and the second part of the story begins here..

One morning(20th Mar) suddently my sim card got deactivated without any intimation. I reached back at Chennai on 24th and I resubmitted address proof and photo at spenzer plaza airtel office on the same day. The guy who collected these details at spenzer office told number will get activated within 48 hours. After 2 days I couldnt see my number activated. I called customer care, and they told processing time is 72 hours! OK.. I decided to wait for another one day. Next day morning my friend called customer care, this time they were telling the sim would be activated before 10th April..!. Evening again i called them and one customer service guy told they have received all details and he will be activating this number in the next 3-4 hours.. And he told he will give me a call to my friends mobile. We waited for his call but nobody called.. He was telling he received all proofs..and I dnt knw what the hell he is doing there.. This is the worst customer care i ve ever seen.

I took an Airtel pre-paid connection in June fo 2007, a budled offer for two years with Samsung mobile from Sangeetha. Ever since I tool Airtel service I have been facing problems. I think Airtel has the worst service and even worse customer care, arrigance oozes from them. My problem in the beginning was a confusion over the handset. I had bought Samsung bundled offer but CC(Customer care) kept on insisting it was LG. Then the offer (free 100 Airtel to Airtel per month) was not activated for nearly a month. My husband (who also had opted for the same service & offer) fought continuosly with CC and finallly was able to get everything sorted out. I came over from SPICE because I was experiencing severe connectivity problem with their service but their CC was EXCELLENT. I had high expectations from Airtel, However, their service is bad and their CC is HORRIBLE. This is the background.

Now for the present. My huband and I are facing connectivity problems with network. We are neither able to make calls nor receive them. We are facing this problem when calling some of Airtels numbers as well as when calling other service providers. When we tried to call CC, they are not even acknowledging the problem. They insist there is no problem with their service and that the problem lies either in handset or SIM (which ofcourse was provided by them). I tried to reason wiht them that it may not be a problem with handset as mine is SAMSUNG and my husbands is LG an that we are both facing the same kind of problem and that the SIM was provided by them. I just wanted them to stop telling me stories and tell me when the problem will be rectified as I feel crippled at times when there is dire necessity to use phone. However the CC executive said point blank that "Sorry mam that you feel we are trying to tell some storiy but there is absolutely no problem with our networ". I was so pissed off that I just hung up. My number starts with 99018, my husbands starts with 99021.

Very frequently I am finding that with unwanted ring tone incoming messages amount is deducted from my prepaid account. Already I have spoken with the customer care but nothing has been done. Presently trying to contact customer care but that is also not available /reachable and blocked by them at this moment. It will be better if transaction sheet for the last two months from the database are shown to find the deducted amount. The Airtel has not only poor service but they are also trying to cheat the customer in a fraudulent way.

Paid my outstanding due on my pre-paid account, as on date of applying for a switchover to pre-paid account. Based on this received my SIM Card and also received a confirmatory message from Airtel that the pre-paid would be activated in 9 working hours. Till date, they have not activated the pre-paid. Subsequent to the receipt of my pre-paid card, I had to forego all my calls because of the physical prsence of the unactivated pre-paid card in my mobile. So, I had no other recourse except to use my post paid account again. Now, they are asking me to pay the dues on my post-paid account, in order to activate the pre-paid account. I have made it clear to them that I want to switch over from their post-paid account because of their dubious billing, in the post paid account.

I had an airtel number [protected] and they have disconnected my number without any reason without any prior information. I have over 1400 rupees in that number and they are neither re-funding back my money nor starting my number again.

I took a number from airtel on Thur, 17th June and got it rehcharged of an amount of Rs.1500 on Sat, 19th June. I had been using the number since 3rd July until Fri, 22nd July when I saw my sim doesnt catch network. I called up the customer care - the guy told me my sim would start in 24 hrs. It did not start. Then I called up again they asked me to email nodal officer. I emailed twice (ref no. [protected] and [protected])and got an email saying they would get back in 24 hrs. They did not get back. I went to the customer care centre. They said they would call me on Tuesday they did not. Then i spoke to nodal office Arpana on Wed, July 28. She said the problem was "insufficient documentation". I told her I did submit my drivers license and also filled a proper form. And that if that was the case how was I able to use it for so many days. Also, you send a message to submit documents again. I did not get that. Then she said she would call me in 24hrs. She did not. Then i called her on Mon, Aug 2. She said nothing can be done. I told her I would raise a complaint. She said you can do whatever you want.

Please help. This is not the right way to deal with a customer. I want my money back.

On 24.102008 i observed a message in my mobile for congratulating me for inception of AIRTEL: LIVE & CRICKET LIVE service and i was informed that i have been charged Rs. 10/ for the same, i was astonished but i thought it is a matter of Rs. 10/- only so i took it lightly. On 28.10.2008 i again received a message "thank you for renewing AIRTEL LIVE you will be charged Rs. 10/- and i was charged also, now i became serious abt the problem and since i was in roaming 1 could not complaint to customer cell of AIRTEL. On 04.11.08 i was again charged Rs. 10/- for the same subscription. I contacted 198 and was informed by the a sweet voice that in future i shall not be charged for this service and all the services shall be stopped immediately. I received an SMS also that my services for AIRTEL LIVE and CRICKET LIVE have been stopped. On 11.11.08, i was again charged Rs. 10/- towards renewal of the cricket live services, when i talked with the customer executive of AIRTEL (at 198) this amount was refunded to me, with a promise that i shall not be charged again. On 18.11.2008 i was again charged Rs. 10/- towards renewal of cricket live service, I again contacted AIRTEL customer executive and after verification i was assured that i shall be refunded the amount and my complaint has again been forwarded to concerned deptt and i shall not been charged in future.

Now today on 25.11.08, i have again been charged Rs. 10/- towards subscription of cricket live and no refund or satisfactory reply has been given by the customer executive as they say that details are not available to them about the deduction.

I recharged my pre-paid airtel number through HDFC net banking. When I was doing so it didnot give out a confirmation which made me think that the transaction has not gone through.I made 5 transactions of INR 100.The money was debited from my bank account at the same time, however the balance has still not been transfered to my phone.I am appauled by the kind of service they are providing.I have launched 2 complaints but no one has bothered to call bankand give any update till now. They only know how to take money of consumers but they are absolutely pathetic whn it comes to customer service.

Hi,

I took a Airtel pre-paid connection 40 days back and it was activated the day 2nd. But from past 2 weeks my connection has been disconnected stating that I have not submitted my documents. However I already submitted the complete documents on day one to the respective shop and when enquired by the dealer, I got to know that it has been submitted on 3-July-2010 and serial No is 18.when I called customer care, they said we have not received the documents.

I don’t know what is going on? why after 1 month they have disconnected by connection. When I gave the documents to the shop owner, then only he activated the Sim.

i want immediate action, otherwise I will take a legal action against you people. At any cost I will not re-submit the documents again as I have given the documents with signature and photo.

Please find the below addresses where I submitted the documents.

For the past 3 days, I have been trying to activate the Blackberry service and the GPRS service on my Nokia E 90 device but to no avail. I have been calling the AIRTEL CUSTOMER CARE and AIRTEL BLACKBERRY CUSTOMER CARE people everyday and after every few hours and have to repeat my story to them again and again. I get the same reply that the services would be activated within 4 hours.. but it has already been 3 days... after getting replies and replies that it would start within 4 hours... People in the CUSTOMER CARE tell me that they would call me back but again I never get a call back and so I have to call again and again after a few hours. Each employee in the Customer Care Center has a different story to tell and they all give different reasons ! They dont even bother to write down what I have requested to them. I dnt understand Is this what the CUSTOMER CARE is all about? .. NO SERVICE.. NO CALL BACKS.. NO UNDERSTANDING.. NO REPLIES! I would seriously request you to get back to me regarding this and solve my problem!

These people keep on deducting the money and when we respond to them they say we cannot refund the money.

On 22nd i called up 121 customer service and i requested Ankoor to stop my hello tune and he said that my request has been ecepted and my hello tune is turned off.

And today in the morning i get a message that Rs 20 is deducted from my account for hello tune which i stoped yesterday. and when i called back a guy put me on hold for 5 min and then hung up on me and after that when i am trying tocall i am not able to contact them.

I have experienced this a manyer times. And this has also cost me my job once.
