Fraud and misuse
I joined anytime fitness with a deal. After the gym not keep upto what it promise I canceled my membership over the gym
I was promised this and that what never happened
So I left and cancled my contract over the phone and refused to pay the extra month.
This is due to I paid a holding deposit for my thob of £40 which they won’t give me back.
So after sometime not they are threading me with debt collector
This is not on
Not the gym was a mess and dirty and no classes as they promised classes the gym manager was a creep who was always hitting on me and making me feel uncomfortable
This is disgusting
Desired outcome: Debt collector to go away And official apology from anytime fitness and the manager
Membership
My girlfriend signed me up for an anytime fitness membership. I went on the 3rd business day to cancel it because the contract said you could and they wouldn’t let me. In the contract it says to buy out you can pay $250. The manager Heather said it would be 375. She’s clearly trying to get money out of me. My gf initialed her name on the contract and didn’t...

The trendmill equipment buttons are broken. The two equipment on the very left were broken since 2021 since I was a customer around the area. I observe this until today that it has never fix which should he recalled due to unsafe effect if they are not maintained. The manage who I spoke to 4/20/2023 @4:03 PM who was there said the orders for it was called but never came. Then that means they should put a sign that it is not usable if the buttons for speed and incline are coming off. The manager had negative vibe as if he did not care. Why is he in that branch now. I will not come back there again.
Membership
I put my account on hold whist in COVID,
They took if of hold and was charging me, This was not known to me as it was automatically direct debited.
I had to cancel my card due to a different matter as my credit card was exposed to fraudulent activity.
Anytime called me to update my credit card details, That was when I found out I was being
I would like to recover the payments that were direct debited without my authority.
Desired outcome: I would like to recover the payments that were direct debited without my authority.
Violation of terms of service (customer access to facility)
The key fob readers on both the front and back doors of this location no longer work and I am no longer to enter the building to access the service I am paying for. I filed informal complaints with the gym management of this franchise when the key fob reader initially began to malfunction daily in January 2023, and then filed a more recent formal complaint via the Anytime Fitness website on March 20, 2023. As of today, April 3, 2023, the key fob reader has not only still not been repaired, but it has completely stopped working on both doors, barring my access from the gym entirely.
This issue is especially dangerous to female members of the gym (myself included), as the area of this gym is high in criminal activity, and suspicious characters often frequent the immediate area (I myself have been harassed dozens of times, with police involvement being required once). When arriving at the gym in the early morning while it's still dark and there aren't many people about, being stuck outside of the gym alone with these individuals is a serious threat.
Not only does this issue endanger gym members, it also violates the Terms of Service agreement provided by both Anytime Fitness and this specific franchise.
Desired outcome: Key fob readers be repaired immediately and my membership payment be fully or partially refunded for each month I have been unable to access the service (January-ongoing present).
Aggressive and rude staff member
On March 21,2023 at approximately 11:05 hrs. I was at my Anytime fitness in Rukersville,Va.22923. owned by Jody Taylor. At this time I would say about 12-14 members were in the gym. I was getting ready to use a bench press machine. I had my gloves and elbow pads on the bench and weight belt on the bar. I stepped away about 6 feet to stretch by back. This Staff Member [Lorenzo D. Taylor] Threw my gloves and elbow pads on the floor and took my bench. A conflict ensued [ See Camera at 11:05hrs.] He refused to put the bench back. After asking the gym Manager Billy Cathey [Who saw everything] To do something about it He said "He works here". My Issue is there were many other Benches available to use [ like the one next to me that was not being used] After seeing that Mr. Rivers would not let go of the bench. I took the unused one next to me. The conflict continued as Mr. Rivers would not move out of the way so I would put the bench in place to continue my workout. He did eventfully move. I contacted the Owner[ Jody Taylor] after my workout was done and explained what had happen. Mr. Taylor stated in a text to me that he saw the opportunity for Mr. Rivers to other benches and not sure he went for that one.Mr.Taylor stated he was going to meet with Mr.Rivers to discuss better professionalism. as of this date April 3,2023 nothing has been done even after Mr. Taylor ensured me to keep me in the involved in what happen in the meeting. I feel as if I was targeted by this staff member and fell his actions are very concerning.
Desired outcome: Apologize for his actions.

Customer service and manager
I have a signed a contract on first of July 2022 and after I couldn’t start the gym because of my back pain so I contacted the gym to cancel my contract so the manager advised me to come to the gym so I went to the gym on 13 of July 2022 so the manager has done it and he promised me to refund my money but after that I haven’t heard anything back till now after contacting them every week and the staff of the gym are not helping and today the manager who named him self David he was very rude and threatened me so he was cutting the phone call several times so I decided to take an action and make a complaint against the gym which is located in Fulham borough London and I really need a help to resolve the issue and deal with manager of gym .
Many thanks
Safety
I currently am a member of anytime fitness in pineville Louisiana. For at least the past month the front door does not shut properly. At times I am there in the early morning hours. I fee it is unsafe if the door will not properly shut. Sometimes even slamming it will not even close it from the outside. I fee this is a safety issue and needs to be resolved ASAP.
Desired outcome: Door fixed
I am trying to cancel my membership after my contract ends.
. I joined Anytime Fitness in Brunswick Ohio on July 14, 2022. I thought I signed for a six week challenge but found out later it was for 6 months. I went to the manager in December and told him I needed to cancel when the term ends. I’m a senior citizen with a limited income and can’t afford the payments.
He told me to come closer to the time when the contract ends. The manager will not answer my calls for an appointment to sign a cancellation form.
I am afraid that the contract will automatically renew without my consent.
Desired outcome: Cancellation of contract after term
Unable to cancel auto renewal to my membership
I have called ANYTIME many times they are not willing to cancel the AUTO renewal of my membership which suppose to be renewed on April 9th, 2023.
I am getting a runaround. I am told to go to a CLUB representative at the Strathmore, Anytime Fitness. A blond girl sits at the Strathmore ANYTIME Club and gives you a phone number to cancel your membership. However, when you call the number, they tell you that they only take money from your account and can't cancel the auto-renewal of your membership.
I am threatened with getting my credit spoiled by Anytime because I have to pay rest of my life despite being told that I am financially unable to keep my membership auto-renewal. I signed up for a year and want to cancel it after ONE YEAR PERIOD which is ending on 9 April 2023.

Customer service
Managers do not know how to manage, equipment is out of date, service is terrible and the members hog equipment and workout to their own rules. The manager need to ask members to not hog. There isn’t a great of room and lack of equipment. The gym is not very customer friendly and allows many members to hog equipments and not allow other members their fair share. I could go to goodlife fitness, pay more and get access to top of the line equipment.
Desired outcome: Get better staff! who can enforce the rules.
Membership
Contracts are predatory at best. Was not explained the terms of the contract to setup a membership and just asked to sign on an iPad. I explicitly said I wanted a month-to-month membership. The advisor at the time said that was do-able and I was paying bi-monthly for this.
Cancellation terms are moving with the "proof" they want, dying, or active military orders... this is the biggest scam contract written into the fine print I have ever seen. Only after you become a member do you get a copy of the contract via the app.
Desired outcome: Cancel my membership and let me go take care of my family due to relocation.
Were you ever able to get this resolved with the trainer at Anytime Fitness? I cannot believe how I got suckered into paying $360/month for twelve months of having a trainer. Also, a $50 sign up fee. I THOUGHT I was signing up for $45 to be deducted every two weeks and I was fine with that along with the $25.99/fitness center membership deducted on alternating weeks. I'm happy with Anytime Fitness itself, but the trainers are SEPARATE I was told. Very misleading and dishonest in how this was done. I am super disgusted with their business practices (the trainers).
safety of members
11/29/2022 at approximately 8 pm
This is an issue dealing with other members not unracking their weights even though signs are specifically posted to wipe down equipment and to unrack weights! As a result of another member not doing his due diligence I was forced to remove heavy weights from the squat rack. oh and I must mention that the bar was also left in high position so not only was I removing heavy weight, but this weight was over my head. The weight slipped, landing on my foot, resulting in a crush injury to my great toe.
I am undecided if I will contact a local attorney, but I know for a fact that this has been an ongoing issue at the Houma facility. I know that there are video cameras in use and I find it a grave disservice to other members that the guilty member(s) have not been confronted, and fined for negligence and failure to follow outlined facility guidelines for the safety of all members.
Desired outcome: I have already filled out a complaint at my local facility 2 weeks ago and still have not heard back from them or anyone for that matter. I want to be contacted by someone at cooperate office.
Cancellation and harassment
The Epsom Anytime Fitness overcharged me by £80 over half a year ago. I emailed, and called daily and it took 4 months to get this money back. In this time I was not allowed to use the gym and so I had to go to another gym instead. Because of this I told David at the club I wanted to leave and he said that was fine there would be no fees included. When I called back because they said they had refunded me but it then took a further 2 weeks to show up, I reiterated to Andrew at the club I was cancelling my membership and he told me I now had to pay £149.85 to leave after I was told that wasn't the case. Unfortunately then my boyfriend went into Saint George's Hospital with a brain tumour. Because of this I wasn't able to get up to the club to discuss this with them, because of that they then sent a debt collector after me. I tried explaining to the debt collector that I was going up to the hospital every day after work to visit my boyfriend so hadn't had time to get to the club yet and this was left with no response just constant letters.
Desired outcome: I'd like to open a case to get this refunded because I shouldn't have been chased for this in the first place.
Gym membership
Notified my local gym on 30 July 2022 to cancel my membership which was after the minimum term. I was advised that I would be charged up to the end of the 30 day notice period.
I noticed early Oct that they were still charging me so I contacted the local gym again to advise. They said they would contact their direct debit company and have not seen any charges after 31 Aug.
It’s now 24 Oct and I am still being charged fortnightly.
Desired outcome: Direct debit to stop and be credited back the AU$151.60 I am owed.
Customer service and membership cancellation
To whom it may concern,
I have just received a letter from Anytime Fitness dated 6th October 2022, stating that I have an overdue account and that if I do not pay the full amount within 7 days, I will be passed to a credit control agency.
To say that I am upset and angry is an understatement. I contacted them back in April and spoke with someone by the name of Vicki Eldridge on many occasions regarding numerous health conditions that were stopping me from coming to Anytime Fitness. At one point my account was frozen because since joining and to this date, I have not once attended the venue and you will see that from their records.
I explained to Vicki Eldridge, that I needed to terminate my contract due to my constant health conditions and attendance in hospital and it was agreed that I could do this and was told that it would be done under the grounds of my health conditions. She also notified me to cancel my direct debit so that I would no longer be charged and that she would sort out the paperwork your side. When I last called, I was notified that Vicki had left your company. How this has now resulted in me receiving continuous text messages and now letters threatening me with a credit control agency is shocking.
Since receiving these text messages and emails I have tried to contact them numerous times. I then went away and whilst I was away my husband contacted them explaining the situation. He was told that it would be looked into. Now I have received this letter. I have tried to contact them today and cannot get through it goes straight to voicemail, which happens every time and no response to my emails.
How has me being proactive in telling them about my conditions, a member of their team notifying me what to do, now turned into I owe money that I do not have. All because a member of their team has failed me and them as a company. I want this resolved asap as I do not need the added stress or worry!
Desired outcome: I want this resolved asap as it is causing unnecessary stress and upset and causing more issues with my current health conditions. This should not result in me having to pay out money when the company is in the wrong not the customer.
Workout equipment malfunction
On Wednesday September 21, 2022 at around 9:30 p.m. CT i suffered injury to my left shoulder due to a malfunction of equipment in the gym, I've tried getting in contact with the gym to let them know about what happened, but was never shown any real concern i was only told that the machine that caused my injury has never had any issues and is working just fine, although i now have a medical sling, medical records and a witness who was on scene of the incident to prove that the equipment used was faulty.
Desired outcome: Compensation for injury due to faulty equipment and medical costs
Anytime Fitness on 75th in Naperville
I went into the Anytime Fitness that I had been a member of for many years today (9/29/22). Granted, I had not been there for some time and during Covid since I did not feel comfortable going to any gym, so I bought some of my own free weights and I walked my dogs more often. Imagine my surprise when the owner (Mike) was a complete jerk. He had a tone that he was annoyed and kept asking if I was there to work out right then and there. And no matter how many times I replied, "not today" he had derogatory comments like "You always have an excuse" and finally I told him just cancel my membership immediately. As I left, he had the audacity to say, "Maybe someday you will take care of yourself!" Someone with an attitude and mouth like that should not be dealing with the public!
I used to tell people to join that location... now I will use even greater vigor to tell people I know to avoid it. He clearly only cares about fees and doing things his way.
Desired outcome: None. I just want management to know why I canceled my membership after many years and how poorly the owner treated me.
Being billed for a canceled membership
I called the local Anytime fitness 4/18/22 to make membership plan changes for a cheaper offer I received, the manager said she couldn't change it, but she would cancel my membership and I could re sign up as a new account under the cheaper plan. She said she would take care of it. She did not. I received a call from billing saying I was past due, I called the manager back 5/11/22 asking her to take care of this. again she did not. As of 7/7/22 billing was still calling me saying it was not canceled and I was still being billed so I e-mailed the manager and asked her to take care of this. She did not. Sept 7th I received a letter from a collection agency for several months of membership charged after I canceled on April 18th. I called the manager again 9/7/22 and she said there was nothing she could do, would not give me her bosses name or contact information. I was adamant that I be helped so she did promise to listen to call recording from April 18th to see if she really told me she would cancel it, and said she would call me back on the 8th. She did not. Currently I am disputing the charges through the collection agent and do not know if it will have a satisfactory result. I have call records and the e mail I sent to them as proof.
Desired outcome: I would prefer Anytime fitness to do the right thing and cancel the collection process. I am happy to pay for the month April since my call to cancel was made during April.
Update- I have reached out (several times) to the manager at anytime fitness, I asked for her bosses contact info which she refused to give me, and is not available on the website and the phone # for Corporate listed is not a valid#. I finally got e mail addresses for them when the manager sent me an e mail she cc'd them so I saw their info.
I let them know that the manager had not helped me and that it was unacceptable to be billed for a canceled membership. They did not reply or contact me till I reached out to them a second time via email and demanded help now. the district manager called me and said she was sticking to the amount billed and would not be helping me. I offered pay for April since my call to the manager was April 18th where she said she would cancel.
I have been dealing with this nightmare for 6 months by phone and by email. I have been verbally abused by the manager in the Aztec gym, and denied any assistance with the issue.
When I spoke to the district manager 9-21-22 she promised to call me back the next day to try to resolve this and as of today 9-24-22 she has not called back yet.
Note: I am not under a contract as I fulfilled the 1 yr agreement years ago.
