Alleged decline of optipay atm card
In August of 2009, ARCO Optipay claims that my bank was unable to process a deduction for my purchase, and they are claiming that I owe them $23.00. I went to my bank to check about this as I have overdraft on my bank account and at the time when they said that my bank did not pay them, there was plenty of money in my account. The first time they told me this story, they claimed it happened on August 13, but a charge for the same amount they claimed did not go through was put through on August 17 for the exact same amount.
I have not been able to use my card since that time, and I have made more than 20 calls to them to try to get this straightened out. I was told first that I just needed to send them a copy of my bank statement for that time, which I did, and even attached the name of the bank lady I know who helped me. Even she said there is no such claim that was rejected ever in the whole month, and that because I have had adequate money in my account all the time and also because I have overdraft protection.
Today I finally got through to someone after all these tries, and I was on the phone for more than 30 minutes arguing with them about this. I never did get them to stop saying that I owe them money even though my bank says there is no such charge. I am beside myself. Could this be a fraud being carried out by this company? The company I have been calling is back east, and they are already sending me a statement saying that I owe them $23.00, but I am not boing to pay it because my bank says that nothing has been rejected on their end.
The only thing I could possibly think of was that there was a person working at the counter in the store back around that time, and when I filled my car one time (which I always did by going inside, paying for $20 of gas and getting coffee and a couple of lotto tickets), when I didn't use the whole $20 and asked for change, the man seemed unable to figure it out and he put me aside while he waited on 7 other people. When he finally did wait on me again, I never did know what he did for I was on my way to work, and he was making me late, so I just thought he put it back into my account but he might have caused the purchase to be cancelled instead of paying it. But still, something is amiss here. It would still have shown up in my account because it would have to be put through before it could be rejected.
I am now really convinced that this is a fraud. I have given these people my SS #, etc. because they are telling me they need that information to identify me. I think I will file this with consumer complaints too as I am getting very suspicious that something is really wrong here. I am going to contact every organization I can to get this looked into. I can't believe that HSBC, which is supposedly the company that managed the Optipay card, is doing this, but since I saw another complaint about them, perhaps they ARE doing something illegal.
Took all my money off debit card
I went in to the gas station that I always do buisness with and used my debt card. After I arrived home I just happened to check my balance and found that all my money was gone. After talking to my bank I was told that the Arco station had removed all my money. My bank is taking care of the matter and will put my money back within 72 hours but I still decided to let the manager know about the situation. He was the rudest person I have ever incountered in a customer service position. He absoulutly denied that they could not have taken the money from my card, told me I was wrong and that I needed to contact my bank to find out where the money went. I tryed multiple times to explain that I had already spoken to my bank and he refused to hear me let alone take a look at the mornings reciepts to see if I was indeed correct. Now I could understand if I was speaking to the girl that did my transaction and she had something to hide, but it was the Manager, the person you are supposed to go to when you have a problem. This gas station is the most convient but I will never go there again..

I went through the same thing and right now in the process of trying to retrieve my money from them I went to the outside terminal and it was my last ten be happy you got five I didn't get any gas and I was on complete empty and had no more money. I went home on a prayer because I didn't even think I would make it home. They was rude and called security on me because I was asking them how can I get my money back. I knew I wasn't the only person out there we need to do class action because they should have a system in play when there machine and system fails their true customer. I just left an email for corporate office but stay on them don't let it died but I WILL NEVER GO TO ARCO AGAIN! because I went through both stories above, horrible. Something needs to happen.
I am so upset! This morning i went to an arco off of eastern and charlston. I put in my last 15.00 in the terminal outside and of course was on empty. It took my five then it took my 10.00 bill made a funny running sound and then said go to the pump. So pumped my gas and it stopped at 5.00 so i went inside to let them know i didnt recieve my 10.00 this kid was so rude and looked at me like i was a liar! I have never been so affended in my life, so he more or less shrugged it off and said there was nothing he could do and game me the manager's name. I know there are alot of scammers and liars out there but i am a honest single mother of 2 just trying to make it in these trying days. So on my way to work in tears cuz of course im still on empty just wondering how people just dont care about anyone anymore. Soooooo sad. I have been calling trying to find a corporate number but havent had any luck. Any suggestions out there? Can i get my money back? Do i go through their store or is there any home office numbers or suggestions out there. I just know i will never go there again. Might have to go to the news channel and put them on blast!
I was a manager for a ARCO in california for 3 years we had many of the same issues with are regular customers.
What happens is if you want to fill up and you open your card it opens any where from 65.00--95.00 after you pump your gas the -actual- amount of gas you use is charged at that time. Arco does a thing called paypoint all charges from the day are sent to paypoint at about 11.00 pm that night if there are no problems with the system [paypoint] the money will be released and back on your card . They dont tell you this and in california they dont take credit cards as they say the cost of gas would increase grealty.
I would say to anyone who is getting gas with there debit card put a certin amount if not sure over estimate ARCO already charges your card 45cents to swipe your card if you over estimate you get cash back and no worry of your next stop if you still have money in your account
TIP...
NEVER USE THE PAY OUTSIDE TERMINAL WERE YOUR CARD IS INSERTED TO A SLOT AS I CANT TELL YOU HOW MANY TIMES I WAS OUT THERE WITH TWEEZERS TRYING TO PRY YOUR CARD OUT AND IF THEY CANT GET IT OUT IT HAS TAKING AS MUCH AS 2 WEEKS TO GET YOUR CARD BACK AND WITH TRAVLING YOUR DEPENDING ON THAT CARD!
rudeness/overcharge
So yesterday i went to this Arco station to purchase a soda which was $1.79 plus crv and tax. The employee working the register was so busy talking on the phone that he wanted to charge me $4.85 initially. So i told him i was just getting a soda, he then told me it was $2.85 for a soda that costs $1.79, i was being polite and ask him to check himself that the price was $1.79 to which he refused and eventually told me that he did not want to argue. I got very upset and went to the cooler to grab the price tag and showed it to him. After that he lowered the price to $2.45 to which still was high. I explained to him that he was charging me almost sixty cents for tax and crv. This is a perfect example of people being careless about customers and putting their jobs at risk because they think we want to give them a hard time. I'm a general manager at a restaurant and this type of behavior is unacceptable. If he only put the phone on hold and pay attention to what i was requesting, everything would of been fine. I was promised by the store manager that this guy was getting fired, hopefully that will be the case. And trust me i will be going back to this location to make sure that this guy is no longer working there. It's sad that this guy is going loose his job, but hopefully he learns from this experience.

I Had a similar experience today at ARCO in Hesperia Ca, where I paid $40 worth of gas and bought a fountain drink, and when I went to pump the pump didnt work. When i went inside they were telling me all they were seeing was $20 and that they could give me $20 and call me later when her shift was over and the register was counted up. she then eventually said "There F@ck! $40 on pump 19, get out of here you are so drama!" Worst customer service at any gas station I have been to! I will never go there again, Its like like im saving $1/GALLON ON GAS, more like $1 on a full tank!
Scam charges
This is my problem, I went to get gas at the ARCO station charged 47.65 was charged a trans. fee of .45 cents which I agreed to, bringing total to $48.10 OK. check my bank statement the next day and I am being charged $100.00 which I am being told is a hold, for 3 to 4 days, now here's the problem I am on a fixed income if I have only $50.00 in the bank after the hold and I want to charge 60.00 it will not go through.this makes everything quite stressful, I was also told that if I go into the station and take care of the bill they won't do this hold thing. What is the difference? And why don't they inform the consumer what they are doing, there is no sign posted anywhere.

Are you kidding me? You charge me a fee for using my debit card? This subsidized industry hasn't taken enough? NEVER EVER GIVE INTO EXTORTION. Will never stop at ARCO again. Words alone can not explain my outrage. Boycott is the power of the people. We act like sheep when allow such practice to continue.
I too was scammed by Arco ampm gas station. On October 12, 14 & 16, 2010 just recently as a matter of fact I pumped gas at the Arco station in Shafter, ca. on these 3 days. The following monday on the 18th, when I looked at my bank account I noticed that I was being charged by my bank 30.00 per ea. transaction that was going through which in all totaled an amount of 300.00 of curtousey fees by my bank institution. I was told by my bank that there were holds placed on my account that totaled 300.00 because of my transactions coming through by Arco ampm showing the actual amount of gas pumped plus the 100.00 hold for each transaction on each day. How ridiculous is that this is not legal. Per Arco they state that it is their policy to put a hold on accounts of 100.00. What right do they have I did not give them authorization to put a hold on my account, I did not sign any contract or piece of paper for them to do that. This is not right because Arco does not disclose the amount that they put on hold. There has to be something done..!Outraged!
Harassment
When i went inside to pay for the pump I handed the man $13 and said "THIRTEEN ON ONE", then I left. As I was geting standing there waiting for my tank to fill up he comes out yelling at me to STOP, and he kept on repeating it several time along with "You said fifteen and only gave me thirteen". I corrected him by saying "No i said thirteen and handed you...

Thursday June 11th at about 7:00 I drove up because my low fuel light came on. I went to the pay point station #2 and put in my last $10.00. I went to pump the gas and nothing came out so I went inside and told the clerk byt the name of Paul (so he said). He told me there was nothing showing there. So I told him that was my last ten dollars and that he had...

I went to arco on 6/3/09 to fill my 15 gallon tank with 14 gallons of gas. On 6/5/09, I had a bar over half a tank left and my car started sputtering. It died. I tried to restart it, nothing would work. My car is a brand new Nissan Rogue with no problems. I towed the vehicle to the Nissan dealership and they found that all that was left in my tank was something that appeared to be water. I must have filled my tank with half water from the bottom of the the pump. Angry, I called Arco and they said I must have been a victim of vandalism to my car... my garaged car in a gated facility? Yeah right! At any rate, Nissan has water samples and I am hoping that USAA (my insurance) will help pursue this. My fuel pump is broken now, my injection cannot be tested yet since the adjuster has to look at it first. I am left without a car, missed work, and paid an arm and a leg for half a tank of water!
I am not really sure what to do since any repairs covered by insurance are not going to make up for the fact that my car will have issues for a while or need a new engine.
I have lost $500 so far and my car is not even fixed. Plus the rental I have to pay for is a PT Cruiser... not happy.

I used to buy gas from this company but the gas doesn't even wouldn't even last in my vehicle now I use chevron and their gas is great. I know that gas is expensive everywhere but arco sells its gas prices almost like chevron even though their gas is bad.
Hello,
I pulled into the Arco/ AmPM located at
6002 Bolsa Avenue Huntington Beach, CA 92647

yesterday 09/04/2012 with a 98% empty tank. After my 100% fill with regular arco gas (cost $100.00) my vehicle showed a lack of power and then would not accelerate past 1000 rmp. Took it to my trusted mechanic and we sampled the fuel. It had water in it and barley smelled like fuel! Matt L. bftoys@aol.com
It is water! Arco gas doesn't last long! I used to buy gas for my car at Arco and the gas would only last me for a week! Now at Chevron their gas is way better than Arco's gas is! And its only a couple of cents more.

I went to pump gas on an arco gas station on avalon and 213th st, in the city of carson, paid on the automatic payment machine outside $30 in total. Apparently only $10 went through according to the cashier but it shows $20 for change but he wouldnt give me my change or let me pump $20 of gas. He told me to leave my number and if they went over when they open the machines (which is two days later), they might give me a call. In the meantime I only have $10 of gas on by truck for the week, and i'm short of $20.

There is a employee at your station on 99th Ave and Glendale who is very rude to customers he's been in multiple fights with other customers for no reason and he always gets away with putting his hands on other customers Sunday November 26th he was trying to start a fight and also yelling in front of customers
We pulled up to number 14 gas pump and the display showed $1.79. I ran inside and asked the clerk to put in $20.00 on pump 14. I went back to pump gas. The display did not zero out. I started to pump gas and the pump went to $20.00 even. The clerk would not refund me $1.79.
I want my $1.79 refund.
This happened today, December 16, 2022 at 2 PM in Covington at wax Road on Wax Rd., Kent Kangley intersection in Washington. The address is 17450 256 Southeast Wax Rd. and SE. Rocks Rd.
That's right $500.35.
My bank flagged this as fraud and shut off my card on an important out of town trip. So now I can't even go across the street and get gas. I'm stuck out of town during the Covid pandemic. No gas, no room, no food, no way home!
We had a bus of kids. About 35. We wanted to use restroom and it's took us a long time since we could use only one restroom because the other one was locked and a worker refused to open it because they use it as a storage
i'm not happy the guy his name is Ramon mordes at Jefferson ca 92201.he was worst service and then easy get mad do not listerning customer .u can check your camera at the store Arco am/pm 42858 at around 9;30 to 10 am this Sunday 12/25/18 he talk really louder and then he said he look like manager there .thanks for your help
The same exact thing happened to me at the disgusting ARCO gas station on the corner of Victory Blvd. and Haskell Ave in Van Nuys, CA. I put $40 into the payquick machine, and selected my pump. When I got to the pump, it didn't show the zeroes like it normally does before it begins dispensing fuel; it simply said $40.00 and 10.876 Gallons. When I went up to the extremely rude attendant, he didn't bother to try and help me since he had other customers. I waited almost THREE HOURS for the police to arrive and got an incident report number from them and their badge numbers since they were my only credible witnesses to what had happened. After meeting with the owner of the gas station the next day, reporting this incident to the California Dept. of Agriculture: Weights & Measures division, and even calling ARCO corporate to file a complaint against the gas station, I've gotten nowhere and the owner still refuses to give me my $40 back that was STOLEN from me. I might actually hire a lawyer to help me get my money back in this case, because it's very wrong that someone as unlucky as me keeps getting screwed over like this in life and can't do anything about it but bend over and take it. But I'm not going to just take it anymore; I will fight back to the death to get back my HARD-earned money.
Theft of $10
Hi,
I provided $70, sayin git out loud, to the gas clerk named "Dabid", or "David" on Saturday, Oct 25 at about 1:15pm, since he said their ATM and Credit card pump machines were not working that afternoon. He did not provide me with a receipt. I pumped about $35 of gas, returned to him, and he gave me change for $60. I told I gave him a $50 and $20 bill, but he refused. I advised the cameras would have seen it, but he refused to play them. I asked his name, and he refused multiple times, eventually writing it down in illegable, to me, letters. I finally got it when his partner looked at him.
thank you,
Kerry Brown

In August of 20010, ARCO Optipay claims that my bank was unable to process a deduction for my purchase, and they are claiming that I owe them $18.00, and they closed my OptiPay account. I went to my bank to check about this as I have overdraft on my bank account and at the time when they said that my bank did not pay them, sow I sent them a check in the amount of $18.00 and they promised me that they would reactivate my account, and they never did, Think about it twice before you get a card with them.
The same thing Happen to For a $ 83.20 Bill they said that processed through my bank that bank said nothing came through from them
