have been trying to receive my $20 rebate from Bissell with no luck
Since December 2007, I have been trying to receive my $20 rebate from Bissell with no luck.
I filled out the Bissell Rebate Form, attached my "original" receipt and cut out the UPC label from the box and mailed it all in.
In mid-January 2008, I received a "Xerox" copy of a Bissell form that stated that I had not complied with all their requests in regard to said rebate, and therefore, was not entitled to anything.
Since then I have e-mailed their customer-service department, called their customer-service department, and sent a registered letter to their corporate headquarters only to receive a letter from them stating that they need the "original" receipt and "original" UPC label from the box in order to process my request.
If I were a dog - this would be the time when I felt as if I were chasing my non-existent tail.
Original means "one". You get one original receipt and that's it. Once you send it in - you have no more original.
I think even Bill Clinton would not be able to parse the meaning of the word "original"!
At this point I have spent more time and money on postage, etc. than I will ever recoup via the $20 rebate - but it's now become a matter of principle for me.
And what makes me even angrier is the fact that nightly on TV the state of Michigan (in which Bissell is located) has employed a professional Hollywood actor to make a plea for that state for business to come there to set up shop because it's a "wonderful state in which to do business".
I agree - especially if you're crooked as the day is long. I'm writing a letter to the Michigan State Attorney General's Office, my state's Attorney General and filing a complaint with the BBB of my state and that of Michigan.
Companies should not offer rebates if they have no intention of honoring them.
And the interesting part is - on top of everything else - Bissell Corporate lied to me when they stated in their letter to me that they had "NO" record of any correspondence from me.
Because their customer service rep made the mistake of telling me that the Model Number I gave him via phone didn't match the "serial number they had on file for me". So apparently they had received my "original rebate form and receipt, etc." and my e-mail.
quality of product
my husband bought this unit for me. After 5 times of use it quit squirting water. I called the service cntr and was told how to fix it. It squirted for a couple minutes & quit again. I called the service cntr again & was told to get my pliers and screwdriver back out. I operated on it & couldn't get it to work. I was told it was still under manufacturers warranty & to bring it back to the store for exchange. Walmart told me they wished Bissell would stop telling people they could return it after 60 days cause they won't. The lady at the service counter said she sees ALOT of these coming ack but there's nothing they can do.

Owned the pro heat pet model two days already stopped working no water suction pickup. Sporadic tool spray and no suction cheaply made motor noise getting louder
Not in Store, and was not given raincheck
Went to purchase quicksteamer and there were non-stoced on the self. Went to customer service the supervisor on duty said she has some in the stock room. I waited over 25 minutes and she never came back nor was I given a raincheck on this item. The item was being sold for $79.99. I would like for someone to call me or send me a rain check at this address. 3423 Gateshead Manor Way, apt. 103 Silver Spring, MD 20904, as soon as possible.

Good Luck
Vacuum hose, dryrots/cracks
I purchased a Bissell SpotBot about two years ago and until recently, was well pleased with it. After each use, I would clean it and make sure it was dry, then store it away until the next use. Well the other day I needed it, took it out and noticed that it was not working properly.. on closer examintation, I noticed that the hose, up next to the hand wand, was cracked- broken, almost half way around, and was sucking air through the crack instead of pulling the water from my rug. I contacted Bissell via their website, in hopes of getting it repaired at their cost since the hose had yellowed, and hardened over time and really should not have been made from a cheap material like that. Well, they informed me that they do not offer that replacement part and I would need to find a local Bissell service tech to fix it at of course, a cost to me. I informed them that I had three of their products, the SpotBot, the Pro Heat 2 carpet shampoo Vac, and a Pet hari eraser, that I had spent a small fortune with them, and since it is their product, they should take care of this for me, and I got a reply back once again telling me they do not have the part and I need to have it fixed at a cost to myself. Now, I have worked in a Factory for almost Twenty years, and I know that the quality of an item, and customer service are the meat and potatoes when it come to business.. If Bissell does not care about their customers, then I say to hell with Bissell.. Buy their trash at your own risk. For me, I am junking all my Bissell trash and going with Dyson, they seem to care about their customers.

I'm having the same exact problem. I'm confused as to why Bissell doesn't offer replacement hoses. I thought I had purchased a quality product from a company with integrity...guess not. I'll attempt with the company and see where it gets me. Will update.
I also had the problem with the hose cracking at the hand wand. I believe it happens when you wrap the hose back on. The hose is a little to short when it goes around forcing it to almost kink at the last bend. This definitely a design flaw. Now the part is not avail for my model on their website anymore. Thank goodness that amazon has it.
I know damn well Bissell is aware of the cheap hose they are using on the SpotBot. I went to the store to check out buying a 4th one. The first three had hosed that failed. I chose to not throw another $129 down the drain. I went online to see if there was any similar products available but came up dry. I decided to just buy a replacement hose for $20 and install it myself. I am not happy about spending money and time putting on the same cheap piece of crap that will fail again. Since Bissell and their bean counters don't choose to address the problem I will post my complaint of Facebook every time I have to deal with it. BISSELL, SPEND AN EXTRA BUCK AND PUT A DECENT HOSE ON THE DAMN THING.
Very characteristic of these spotbots it appears. Mine has it too. Not sure I am ready to swear them off as I love the spotbot. It just seems that the hose, something that is crucial to the system, is the weak link. Not sure if it is due to chemicals eroding the plastic, extra stress on the hose (my hose was tight), or just a very cheap plastic. Or maybe a combination of all three - but you would think that testing the durability of this would be something they did before release. I guess not.
Unless your willing to spend $400 on a vacuum it appears the whole market is turning disposable
Right price point, but on first day can see many weaknesses. Appears that one great vacuum engineer built a terrific bagless system and then three engineers followed behind making the plastic thinner and the accessories cheaper. Bissell promotes no more bags, but only offers disposabe $12 HEPA media. Other brands may offer this as washable. Seems like Bissell is anticipating the weak supports for the foot pedal breaking as, the "handle release/detent pedal" is listed in replacement parts. Put a foot on it and it bends. Dusting brush/upholstery tool is harsh and ineffective, would only scratch your TV screen or high polish furniture. Step and floor cleaning accessories are extra, not available at my Home Depot or Lowe's and unclear as to whether there are any bristles on the brushes (viewing Bissell web).
That said, the suction power is great and the pet turbo brush is very powerful. Looking at other complaints, I'm wary of how long it will last. Not willing to spend more right now, so we're sticking with it. We bought the Bissell steam vac a month prior and are quite impressed with how it's done its first two cleanings. Very tricky getting wet lint out of thin steam vac head. And no cleaning tips on this from Bissell either.
Unless your willing to spend $400 on a vacuum it appears the whole market is turning disposable. Look out landfill here come the vacuum cleaners.
Don't ever buy a Bissell
I bought a Bissell pro-heat carpet shampooer, and it stopped working after 3 uses. I exchanged it for another one at Walmart, and a year later it isn't working. Walmart no longer exchanges or refunds money for Bissell shampooers. I called Bissells customer service, and the problem was more than a trouble shooting problem that could be fixed on the phone. I was given a repair service for my location, called them, they said they have a flat rate charge for fixing Bissells because they continue to break over and over, and the repair people cannot work for free. I asked what I should do, he said don't ever buy a Bissell.
Avoid them
We have had other Bissell products (carpet cleaners) and have always been very pleased. So when it came time to buy a vacuum we decided to try the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Dual Cyclonic Vacuum #3920. What a piece of junk. Within the first 45 days the flex hose collapsed on itself, Bissell replaced it. The worst part about this product is that it gets VERY HOT. The worst part about dealing with the Bissell Company is their customer service department, even when buying belts etc. they have proved to be worthless. I would advise you to keep your receipt (you are going to need it) and purchase your parts etc. through a reputable co., avoid dealing with or giving your personal information to Bissell directly.

Been on the phone for over an hour with Bissell> I have a carpet cleaner (still under warrenty) that will not spray soap. Took to Abbey Lane autorized by Bissell to fix tier machines. What a joke. They replaced all kinds of stuff and it still has the same problem. Called to tell them and was told by the tech I didn't know how to use my machine that it was working fine and I should bring it in for him to show me how to use it. I told him that I had to drive all that way again(I live on the westside they are at Montgomery and Eubank) He tells me he has to drive all the way from Bernalillo. I said you get paid to do that if it bothers him so much he should change jobs. He hung up on me I called and ask to speak to the owner he got on the other line and was a total jerk and laugh and told me he is the only one to work onit and to call bissell. Which I did and spend forever on the phone with no help told to take it back to the jerk even talked to someone named MIca at the corp office and he said I had to take it back to the jerk or mail it to them and they would check it and decide what to do that would take at least a month.I have to go pay for a box and ship it (have no extra money or take it back to an A$$hole. This is what kind of company Bissell is. Take your money and screw you! Please pass this on so people will know not to buy a bissell. Thank all have a great day!
Waranty Inspection time
I bought a Prolite upright almost 5 years ago. about 30 days ago I was sweeping and the bottom portion of the sweeper literally exploded. The sweeper has a 5 year waranty on the motor and 10 years on the motor housing. I waited a week to receive a return authorization. another wekk for Bissell to receive the vacuum. It has now been over a week since they received the vacuum. Called Bissell and they haven't even looked at the failed unit. I have not cleaned my carpets for 1 montrh now and they are dirty. I feel it has taken Bissell to long to repair or replace the unit. They no longer manufacture this model. Therefore the problem should have been solved.

Burned our carpet and we must box it
Our Bissell vacuum burned gray marks into three parts of our carpet. We were using the hose attachment to clean our couch and moved the vacuum three times as we moved along the couch with the hose. We then turned around to see three grey strips burned into our carpet where the vacuum had been sitting as we were working with the hose attachment on the couch. We called Bissell and they informed us that we would have to find a box to ship the product - this is a vacuum, a rather large item to find a box for and pack up. When I asked about the carpet damage they told me to include two photos inside the box I'm supposed to take a few hours out of my day to go find. I inquired as to whether they sometimes pay for people's damaged carpets and they did not provide an answer. So, after I spend four hours traveling to Target to beg for a spare large box, packing this thing up, and sending it off to Bissell, perhaps I'll learn if they will pay for our damaged carpet. Such a shame that Bissell places the packaging of their defective product on our backs.

I bought a Bissell HEAVY DUTY VACUUM in August of 2010...IT DIED IN FEBRUARY OF 2011. It is suppose to have a 5 year warranty but when I called they said I had to take this thing that I paid nearly 200 dollars for to a place that is 40 miles from my house to have it serviced. You would think that if they want to continue to keep customes that they would send a shipping label and have it picked up to be serviced.
The vaccum and the company are broken and they both SUCK and this is not in a good way. I will never buy another Bissell procuct again. They have totally lost me as a customer. They totally give a new meaning to the words...NO SERVICE CUSTOMER SERVICE!
Bought a Bissell 25A3, Don't bother.
I bought it because it heat up the water, a good sales pitch.
If you like filling and emptying the tank for every 4 square feet, then this is your model.
The carpet was so wet after using this carpet cleaner, I was worried about the floor boards warping.
The unit has one tank with a bladder in it, clean water and soap go into the bladder. My opinion is that as the bladder shrinks (clean water is put on the carpet)it impedes the suction of extracting the water out of the carpet.
Called customer service and the service representative was more interested in getting me off the phone than solving my problem.

Thank you Complaints Board for this forum and thank you Ross F from Madison Wisconsin for posting. The exact same thing happened to me. Luckily I have the original box because I just bought this Bissell Rewind Model from a Tuesday Morning in October of 2014! Since I can technically take the machine back for a full refund, I have contacted the store manager informing him that Bissell wants me to send the machine directly to them without the attachments, and include photos and a filled out claim form. The Bissell Rep was VERY nice and assured me that I should not return the vacuum to the store, they would take care of me. I let her know that I could care less about the vacuum machine, I wanted to know what Bissell was going to do about my very expensive carpet being ruined by a brand new Bissell machine! She didn't assure me they were going to cover my damages but told me there would be a claim filed if I filled out the paper work and included photos. I was still concerned that if this process took too long I would no longer have the vacuum to return to the store, and my window of opportunity to return it, "no questions asked" would have passed. The Tuesday Morning manager advised me to make a copy of the prepaid return label for my records. I can do one better, I can video tape this horrific phenomenon actually happening in real time because I have a piece of scrap carpet left over from my VERY EXPENSIVE carpet installation. My carpet is by Stanton and it has a short pile and a graphic pattern on it, this happened when I was using the hose attachement. I offered to include this video to the customer Rep and she said it wasn't necessary. I have made a video anyway for my own records. And when asked, "can you cut the burn mark out" I replied "No because because it is a pattern design and you can't cut out what is not physically there anymore".
I will be calling Ross F (thank you for including your phone number!) to find out how he was treated in the end. I do believe in giving a manufacturer the opportunity to make things right before posting photos and video. Thank God for good people out there to take the time to post their stories. Hopefully mine will have a happy ending. But just in case I have to sign a waiver saying that I will "not talk about this", (in order to have my carpet replaced), I will be contacting my lawyer for advise ...and I wanted to share my idea about video taping the phenomenon and contacting the store where you bought the vacuum.
I purchased a BISSELL Little Green Proheat Pet cleaner a year ago, and while using it this weekend the bottom started to leak.
Just so everyone knows, I do not use this all of the time and have probably used it less then 10 times in the year I have owned it.
I took the bottom plate off of the machine to detect what was going on, and in doing so I noticed the small black seal was broken.
I contacted Bissell and they said they do not have parts, but to try a local store. I called the first store and the gentleman explained "because it's under $100 they won't do anything, you have to buy a new one". I'm sorry, but $100 is a LOT of money to be spending in my opinion, and I work extremely hard for my money, so this is not acceptable. The gentlemans response - buy a new one...
I called the second number and the lady informed me that if I have my original receipt and if I purchased it less then 1 year ago, they can send it in and the company will just give me a whole new machine, because they don't have replacement parts for items that are less then $100.
I am shocked at this, and I will be returning the second Proheat cleaner I just purchased for my mother-in-law, because I do not want the same thing to happen to here in 1 years time!

I just experienced the same problem...the vacuum seemed to overheat and while using the hose and its attachment, burned a quarter sized hole in my carpet. I called customer service and they want me to ship it to them--- fat chance. I'll just throw this out and NEVER purchase a Bissell product again.
Amen pal! Same damn problem here.. The Bissell, unlike a Dyson, will not shut off the turning of the brush when using the hose attachment. Who the hell designed this thing? My two year old was crawling towards the damn thing while I was using the hose attachment on my sofa.. Thank the good lord, I turned around in time to see him before he stuck his fingers it. It did not get my son, but it did burn black marks into my carpet.
Bissell could care less about it's customers.. When it comes to customers service from Bissell, "You're on your own!"
BACK WHEELS LOCK AND ROTARY HEAD BURNS UP SMOKE
IT WAS GIVEN TO ME AS A CHRISTMAS GIFT FROM MY PARENTS. IT MAKES ALOT OF NOISE. THE PAMPHLET GIVES YOU INFORMATION AS TO FIX IT, IN CASE SOMETHING JAMS UP. BUT I NOTICED THAT ON THE SIDES OF THE SPIN BRUSH, THE PLASTIC IS MELTED AWAY. NOW THE BRUSH DOESN'T STAY IN PLACE AND WHEELS LOCK IN PLACE WHEN THE BRUSH STOPS WORKING. THIS IS THE BISSELL MOMENTUM CYCLONIC. IT HAS TWO FILTERS AND A LARGE DIRT CONTAINER. I ALSO NOTICED WHEN USING THE HOSE, ALL THE DIRT FLIES OUT THE BACK. THAT DEFEATS THE PURPOSE. THE BELT SNAPPED AS WELL.

Poor Customer Service/Product Support
I purchased a Bissell vacuum and within 3 weeks the cord showed signs of wear. After contacting Bissell they instructed me to take it to a local repair shop for inpsection. The repair shop informed me that it was a vacuum purchased from a "big box store and junk, what did I expect." I reported this to Bissell and also informed them that the local repair store said they will not cover it under warranty it was caused by running over the cord. I told Bissell that was not the case and considering I had at that point used the vacuum 3 times, was it reasonable to have a cord that could not withstand being run over once, or twice? It seemed to me that they needed to improve upon their product. I was told to take the vacuum back to the same repair shop. When I did, I was told they didn't want to take the vacuum in, it wouldn't be covered and I shouldn't be telling Bissell that they bad mouthed their product if I wanted them to fix it. I have since spoke with 2 supervisors who refuse to give out a last name or employee number for reference, when asked for the next supervisor I was told "they don't talk to customers." My suggestion is that Bissell not only needs to improve upon their product but also their customer service. In a time when not many people are purchasing $180 vacuum's I think they can do better than this.

Inferior quality, poor Customer Service
Bissell. When they say, “We mean clean”, they mean cleaning out your pockets!
I purchased a Bissell upright Proheat Turbo Deep Cleaner within the last year. The machine's been used no more than six times to remove pet stains in limited areas only.
Attempting a similar "spot cleaning" several days ago I noticed it wasn't spraying any water/solution.
I stepped through all of their Troubleshooting recommendations and still, not functioning.
Believing the cause was merely some obstruction (tangled hair/button/paper clip, etc.) I disassembled the hood surrounding the spray jets/beater bar only to find that the pinion gear that drives the beater bar belt had sheared off its shaft and had become lodged in the pump drive mechanism (in reality it wasn't spraying AND the beater bar wasn't spinning).
As the drive mechanism is integral to the pump, I called Bissell's Customer Service, explained the situation and requested that -- in view of the still-active warranty and the machine's rather limited usage -- that they simply send me a replacement pump, which I would install and all would be well in the Kingdom.
Not so simple. The young lady on the other end said the pump is not a “user serviceable part” and that they didn’t stock those parts. She did however refer me to their “Authorized Service Center” in my area and told me that they could furnish the part.
I quickly called their Service Center. The very nice gentleman there told me they had been a Bissell “Authorized Service Center” for only 10 days and that he was unfamiliar with their service plans. Interestingly enough, he also said he had a similar unit disassembled on his work bench at that very moment with the exact same problem; when I questioned him, he estimated the age of that unit at approximately 6 mos. The next thing I knew the owner of the shop grabbed the phone and said that he had one pump in stock, but that I would have to pay $35.00 for it because Bissell wouldn’t reimburse him if he didn’t diagnose the problem and affect the repair himself.
Back to Bissell. I called C.S. again and asked to speak to a supervisor, surely he/she would have enough sense to understand and remedy the problem. Not so. That guy began reciting language from their “small print” declaring that I voided my warranty when I opened the cleaner’s shell. OK, time to climb to another level. At this point I’m still believing that someone within this organization must have enough intelligence to see that I’m not asking for any form of labor to be performed, but just need to be mailed a small part that was obviously poorly engineered to prematurely fail as it did in the first place.
I asked to speak to his supervisor, and after a long pause on “Hold” I was transferred to a woman who would identify herself only as “Michelle at Corporate”. She only mumbled the same ridiculous rhetoric as her underling. I tried to appeal to her sense of fairness inasmuch as:
1) The ostensibly easy step of unclogging an obstruction did not warrant a trip to a Repair Center.
2) It was only by my examination of the unit that the extent of the problem was identifiable.
3) Clearly the part in question had an inherent design flaw (after all, any interruption of beater bar rotational torque should have resulted in a failed rubber belt, not the shearing off of a steel drive gear shaft.
4) I am ready, willing and able to replace the part myself – no technician required.
This lady was rude to the point of hostility, telling me that I would have to pay for the parts/labor to restore an appliance originally costing $179 and only used a half-dozen times. Further, to document our conversation I asked her for her direct phone number/extension and her last name. She outright refused to provide any of that information.
This entire company is pathetic. They’re designing, marketing and selling inferior products, have inadequate service protocols, and their Customer Service skills are abhorrent. I will never purchase another Bissell product and strongly encourage anyone considering a future appliance purchase to Google other consumers’ similar experiences; they populate the Internet.

Had two - first one the turbo brush seized after about 4 uses and since replacing the part(s) was looking to be not much less expensive than replacing the machine, I made the mistake of buying another Bissell Proheat - big mistake! After two uses, the machine one leaves a trail of dirty water behind one the " freshly cleaned" carpet! Warranty is up and the problem appears to be a common one requiring the tank to be replaced - that is NOT going to happen so ... like the piece of garbage that it is, out it will go with the rest of the garbage and out I will go to buy a Hoover. Henceforward Bissell will be associated in my mind with "Big Mistake"!
My girlfriend's model 8905 plastic pump pulley is done. Cheap crap and most likely a result of corporate "value engineering". Hah!
Please add me to the list of very un-happy Bissell ProHeat customers. I have the same story...no water comes from the pump after owning the piece of junk for less than a year. Unfortunately for me, I can't replace it or fix it and times are tuff here in Las Vegas. Bissell how do you still exist as a company in Michigan? Something needs to be done.
I'm so mad reading the above reviews! I too bought a Bissell Proheat (after all it's Bissell right) trusting the company name and its long history. After several uses, the sprayer stopped working. I too went through all the trouble shooting steps to no avail. Called the Service Center. After being hung up on twice, I was able to speak with a rep who was very patient and considerate however after removing the brush bar and cleaning around the jets with a toothbrush I still had intermittent spray. Went online to find a repair shop and found this site. After reading the complaints, I've decided to take it apart myself as it is out of warranty. I will NEVER buy another Bissell. I also had bought their vac around the same time, the one that advertises itself as specific for homes with pets. Worst vacuum I've ever had. Bisssell should be ashamed.
Caution: For comedic relief in this letter, puns are intentionally used!
I've been using a Bissell Pro Heat 2x for almost 2 years now. I didn't purchase it, but borrowed it from my mother-in-law a handful of times..., .(maybe 5) Well guess what...it stopped spraying water, which means it's broken. So I did what any person who is mechanically inclined do, and I attempted to repair it myself. After talking to a local repair shop a bit, I thought I would take a stab at the phone diagnosis, and my own thoughts...so I bought a new water pump. ($23) I should mention this fun little fact that as I was entering the store to pick up the part, an older gentleman was picking his same model as mine up, so of course I was all ears...his cleaner's failure was the water line solenoid, which is a fancy word for an electrically controlled switch, which cost him $90. After straining my back and squinting for an hour and a half, I got it together and installed...it is spraying better, but still not consistent! Grrrrrr... I may have to replace my solenoid as well. Local shops want $90 to $125 to fix these issues...half the cost of the machine! One shop told me that the issue could be clogged spray heads, a clogged or bad heater, (I did take the heater apart, it was spotless minus a dime sized calcium deposit, however I could have used a service manual to test the heater itself, just haven't gotten that far) or the other two issues I previously mentioned. The other repairman I talked to, says he gets a TON of the Bissell cleaners, and a VERY SMALL amount of the Hoovers. He called repairs on the Hoovers "rare", which many times could be attributed to customer abuse or misuse. Also, it was mentioned that you fix it once, chance are it or something else will break again...this is also the theme of reviews I read online!)
I tried to get my mother-in-law to return it to Sam's and insist on getting her money back, as I'm guessing it's only been used 20 times in the past 2 years, but of course she wants to be the martyr, and just buy another one. I don't believe in sweeping a vacuum company's stifling underperformance under the rug, just to save face or convenience standing in line at the store. A couple little known facts are this...
1. Sam's club is constantly getting financially "clubbed" themselves by Costco, which has a lifetime satisfaction guarantee on most items except jewelry and electronics, therefore, out of competitions sake, you may get lucky if you stand your ground at Sam's, and threaten to go to Costco if you have to, for them to return Bissell's $200 hat stand. (I was told this under breath by a Sam's employee a while back, things may have changed since then) Of course, Costco should not only take it back, but they should drop this product all together.
2. If they still won't take it back, no matter where you bought it...then check out to see if your state has a "lemon law". (designed to protect consumers from getting stuck with owning a consistently failing product. Check with a your local friendly lawyer, or look it up yourself for further instruction. I actually got Home Depot to return an $800 power washer that was purchased 2 years prior under this premise.) If they do, you're in luck! It's clear that this product is truly a "lemon", because it really sucks to own one! Also, from what I have read online, Bissell is not helpful in resolving customer issues either.
Bottom line recommendation for everyone...Don't buy the Bissell ProHeat...anywhere. Buy a Hoover-it blows the Bissell out of the dirty water that it sits in! Just read the reviews and compare...heck, just look at the star rating... 4.6 vs. 2.8...lol (or rug Doctor, but it's double the cost...yikes) Buy it at Costco, so if by chance it ever fails, you can return it there. It's worth the $50 membership fee, believe me! (I have easily burned $50 in time, gas, vacuum parts, and energy trying to fix this thing, and I'm not done yet!) I have been a member of Costco for years, and they have great products, at usually great prices...just depends on what you buy there. Don't feel guilty for returning it, either...Costco will make their money off you in other ways! Thanks for reading, and I hope it saves you from the heartache that I and many others have experienced! -Byron from KC
my husband bought this unit for me. This machine is a piece of crap.
Mine sprays solution from the tool wand but not from under the machine. We would not have bought a bissell, but for the fact that there is almost nothing else, on a consumer level, left on the market. I will have to try gettin it fixed, as it is still under warrantee, but I expect it will only give me the one usage. Dissappointing.
Wish I had read these complaints prior to buying the Bissell Pro-Heat for our home. I brought the first unit back after the pinion gear broke on its second use. Wal-Mart was kind enough to provide me with another machine. We got a little more use from the second machine, but after about 6 sporadic uses this past year, the gear assembly broke from the housing (same problem as the first machine), and we are again stuck with a machine that has no functioning brush. I called Bissell Service. The closest repair facility is 170 miles away, and my unit is not in warranty. Decision made. Scrap pile. Tomorrow, I will rent a Rug Doctor unit from Home Depot. I don't like to disparage products, but this drive gear and belt problem seems to be an unresolved issue with Bissell. We will shop again for other name brands, and I will refer to this site for as a reference check first.
Just got one as an early christmas present, this would be my third pro- heat...It is going back..I too had the same problems, i got pretty good at repairing them. Found two of them at the curb, only to find the same failure of parts...actually used a pulley from another vac. Then had no water out of the cleaning tank. also had the large leaking problem out from underneath the unit. This inferior product will be your very own stress generator...pretty funny, as the suction started to fail i put a 35lb dumbell on it or had my 40lb. son ride on it..whatever happend to good old fashioned products? Please, Please, Please, do not buy this product. You too will feel disapointed...
Totally agree. I have only used it a couple of times because of spills. 3 times very gently I used it, it broke with exactly the same result. Same part broken etc. Only mine was out of warranty.
Bad service
This vacuum is the worst vacuum in the history of vacuums. I bought this model less than 1 year ago. The reason I bought it was because of the so-called features, easy emptying, and its HEPA filter. But, I spend more time troubleshooting and talking with a representative on the phone than I do vacuuming.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I am really needing to use this today
5.20.2023
Any suggestions on how to get it out without damaging it.
We used this once and it worked great. Went to use it again and the water/cleaning solution would not dispense. It would not come out on the regular trigger or the clean shot function.
I have had about 10 of your vacuum that you express are for pet hair. All of them crapped out after 6 months. I have two rescue dogs who shed and I vacuum every day. Please make one that stands up to that kind of abuse. All of the ones I tried didn’t last more than 6 months. Very disappointed in them. I would use them if they worked.
We got A New Bissell 7 Day ago " a model # 6583 " From Walmart, Got It Home We Live 25 mil From Town and this Bissell Will Not Work Now and Bissel Will ive The Part In 14 to 20 Day to Fix It Not .. Will Not get a Bissel! This CO . Need Help In Customer service ... Got My Money Back From Walmart . Thank God
Bissel is a company with bad customer service, they wont take back their shoddy vacuums, we spent alot of money on one that we cannot use, i will never purchase anything from bissel again, money down the drain, im very dissatisfied with them.
I bought this machine last night and will be taking it back to the store I purchased it from today. It is the worse carpet cleaner that I have ever used. Last night while cleaning or should I say trying to clean my living room carpet it stopped working. I spent more time trouble shooting with this thing than cleaning the carpet. It is not worth the money that I spent on it and I hope that this will make people aware of this and all the headaches that come with it.
I bought this product last night and got half way through my living room when the thing stopped working. I have owened cleaners for many years but I have to say this is the worst one out there. With all the trouble shooting you have to do and try to figure out what you could have done wrong if anything. It's not worth the money I paid for it and I will be taking it back to the store that I bought it from today. Please beware of this one.
I have had alot of trouble with their carpet cleaners, the new heated turbo one.
Do not buy one. I wasted $179. They have replaced the first one which would not eject the solution onto the carpet and now the new one won't suction the water back up.
This company is for the birds.
I had two big green machines and got great use out of them but the new products are all bad and the solution, the soap, ruins the pumps in these uprights.
