I have been bob evans server for 5 years. I have never been this unhappy at my job before. I have always been treated with respect and I thought worked with people that actually cared for my well-being which is why I have stayed with this company for so long. I feel like ever since I have gotten pregnant I have been treated differently and discriminated against.
First of all I moved thirty mins. from my store. There was another store that was ten mins. from my new house and they wouldn’t let me transfer because I got wrote up over spilling salad dressing from a very unpleasant manager. It was a accident and I truly am more clumsy since I have been pregnant. They wrote me up saying I was harming their food cost. Yes over spilled dressing. So their excuse was that I couldn’t get transferred because I needed to clean up my file. I obviously have a pretty good file if it takes something like a accident over spilled dressing to find a reason to write me up or document me.
I am also upset that I applied to be an assistant manager or to be a server leader and I have never received any kind of raise of any sort or promotion. Another girl from my store which I trained has now moved up and became a server leader before this new training she is getting now she only knew how to serve. I have been trained to cook, serve, and host. I have been trained in all of these areas for years now and have never been moved up in the company or got a raise but this girl which i trained one year ago is now a server leader. Why wasn’t I offered that position is it because I am well over qualified.
On Saturday of last week I had to wait on one of the new server leaders table because she let them set their without anything to drink or even a hello for fifteen mins. I honestly don’t remember the last time I had a customer complaint and our new server leader just had one two days ago and I had to be their server plus take care of my tables. Which is not a problem I do it all the time I’m all about team work but for a server leader to need help from me just a server that can’t even get transferred is pretty ridiculous.
Today was the worst day I have had working for bob evans. I told my manager the same one that wrote me up over spilled salad dressing that I would came in to help her out on my day off . Well today I realized that they have moved my doctor appointments from every two weeks to every week because they are worried about my going into labor early because of stress. So I told my manager as soon as i got in the door about how I wasnt going to be able to came in on my day off because I had a doctors appointment. She told me to wait and tell the other manager christina who does the schedules the same manager that has been treating me terrible throughout my pregnancy.
She came into work at 12: 30 . I go into the back of the restaurant by the office and tell her that I forgot about my doctors appointment tomorrow and that i wasn’t going to be able to came in on the day off tomorrow but she had a whole day to find someone to cover the shift. The policy for call ins is that you have two hours before your shift to call in if your not going to make it. I told my managers 24 hours in advanced that I wasn’t going to make it in on my day off because of a doctors appointment. The response I got was unbelievable. Chrissy started yelling at me and telling me that she put me on the schedule and if I didn’t show up tomorrow I was going to have a documentation because she added me to the schedule. I didn’t have a chance to say a word. She went on and on with her voice still raised at me about how I wasn’t going to be able to pick up any extra shifts anymore, and how I was not going to be called in anymore. After she was done yelling I was just like I have two weeks left don’t schedule me after two weeks i want to take my maternity leave early. I wanted to work until I was do which isn’t until August 27th but I can’t take it anymore. A customer heard her yelling from the restaurant and went up to the host ajaia and asked her who was doing all the yelling in the back of the restaurant.That is unprofessional for one of bob evans managers to act so crazy over something so small. I was only trying to help out, and thats how I got treated.
Quit playing the I am being mistreated because I am pregnant card. You were written up because you were careless.
Also I doubt that the person who moved up was a "girl" why would they give the difference to someone who does not know the difference between a "girl" and a young woman. You say you are overqualified, that is what everyone thinks. Everyone thinks they are more entitled to a promotion than the other people. Perhaps though you know how to cook and host she had more people skills than you do? Perhaps she knows the difference between a "girl" and a young lady.

Also making your other workers look bad and yourself look good does not make you a good team player. Perhaps that "girl" whom you trained was a better team player. She does not badmouth her employees online and self promote herself to make herself look good.
You need to be more responsible. Take responsibility for your actions. Not their fault you forgot you doctor's appointment. For crying out loud you are about to be a mother learn to be more responsible instead of blaming your pregnancy for spilling the dressing and forgetting your doctors appointment. Don't use your pregnancy as an excuse when they are disciplining you.
Wow seems like you are being disciplined for things you did wrong and are using your pregnancy as an excuse. Shame on you.
After rereading this I think you did not get the promotion because you are a poor team player. You don't badmouth your co workers to make yourself look better. In other words you don't brag about how you had no complaints and your co worker had one to make her look bad and yourself look good. One reason you did not get the promotion.
2. I am sure that the person who you trained is at least 18 years old. That means she is a young lady not a girl. You don't even know the difference between a child and a young lady.
3. She probably has more people skills than you.
Wow, that’s insane and sadly not a shock. I was an employee at Bob Evans in Florida up until just recently. There was so many things there that were so wrong but the one that was the most was being bullied addressing this several times to management with no repercussions only for it to happen again and again well I finally had it and now I see why there was no repercussions because instead of believing or trying to get answers the management would discuss the complaints I was making with the other employees I was making them against putting me in awkward situation time again. Friday night I wasn’t getting sat on my shift even though I had opened bussed tables. I addressed this with management then and their and she put the door on a wait until the other servers had clear table then by passed me and sat them. Right at that moment I decided I was no loner going to be an employee at Bob Evans. The management was putting me at risk to be in a hostile environment by undermining me just to appease her favorites this is totally unprofessional and I don’t see how the doors will remain open when customers are constantly complaining, people are put on a 40 min until the kitchen can catch up because there is currently 2 cooks only. There are employees that come to work high, sit on the phones, talk cuss swear, ignore customers that are cashing out and nothing is ever addressed. I believe the management there is more worried about their reputation and their favorites then actual Bob Evans it’s quite sad that they are able to even be called managers the way they represent Bob Evans. If you aren’t a favorite or God forbid you should address valid concerns that people should be fired for on the spot then you are seen as the trouble one. If there was any kind of decent management then they would of taken any and all forms of bullying serious especially when it involves purposely causing another server to loose money by not being sat or picking and choosing what tables they will get and usually I only got sat 2 tops, kids or very old couples which I never minded that. I can’t tell you the last time I was sat more then a 2 top, when in reality I could serve circles around most the servers there since they are all teenagers for management to out right ignore my complaint not only that but share what I said to the them so not only did nothing change I was treated as if I did something wrong my schedule got changed, my hours were dropped and my one day shift was given away to the person I made the complaint about for bullying yet another employee there that had just got hired. I am appalled as to how these managers are able to be trusted to further represent Bob Evans. As I was wondering how the employees that were stealing, walking up to other employees out right bullying by name calling or bumping food so it would slow the employee down with no consideration as to the customers food that was being bumped. I am very disappointed in Bob Evans corporate it’s a terrible place to work and I see other employees on here desperately looking for anyone to listen or to be validated. I see that the way it works hard work, team players and rule followers will not be recognized but people who BS you with brilliance and baffle you with brilliance get ahead. A manager grabbed a kid by the arm that had PTSD was not even addressed a women that called me a f*** idiot my first day of training and another who decides to walk up to fellow employee to inform her that her nails were ugly are the ones that get treated the best. Makes sense to me that the management is the same way and instead of representing Bob Evans following the rules that they lay out and inform you of In the interview process is just for certain ones. These management at Bob Evans is the worst I have ever seen in any employment history I ever had because it’s a huge problem when management sides with the employees who are the real issue and the issue will only continue and just like I’m not the only employee that got treated that way I won’t be the last and there will be so many more of these complaints because the proper people aren’t being reached and no one cares to check these complaints address then and figure out if there is any truth to them. Like the complaint of servers picking and choosing who gets sat what when that is hostess job. However the hostess admitted she is top dog there and she trains the other hostess the way she wants. Any manger could of checked the sales of each employee there to see if there was any truth to that. On those nights such as Friday night I only made $40 from 3-8pm. I knew nothing would change and so I felt I had to choice but to quit my job. It’s truly sad to me. The management isn’t even smart enough to figure out a person wouldn’t quit their job if their wasn’t some truth to what they were complaining about I mean I am disabled and this was my first job back since my injuries and I was looking forward to being a long time employee with Bob Evans.
The only reason I choose to post this is the hope that some where in the corporate world of Bob Evans someone of authority might actually care enough to make a change that the Bob Evans in Cape Coral so desperately needs. It sure would keep the complaints down that come pouting in there. Also, I just found out by reading another complaint on here that we had a file well now how do I know my file won’t be written up with things so their [censored] are covered. Already rumor has it that so many other employees tried to complain about management before but apparently they are rebuttal because a friend of s friend is stopping complaints from reaching anyone of authority that could actually do something. I think the boyfriend has some ties to corporate so it’s already a well seasoned rumor that nothing will ever be done to one of managers because of her special treatment of knowing someone. Well they always say it’s not what you know it’s who you know. Come on let’s do better is there any higher up that actually will take this seriously be sick enough of those that bull doze their way through things. District manager came in on Friday lovely man very professional. I now wish I had took him to the side and informed him of what they hides
