I’m complaining about the Brakes Plus in Centennial off of Gibraltar way.
The location in Centennial was supposed to do an alignment for me and have it done that day because they had a new job starting the next day. They contacted me the day. The alignment was supposed to be done saying that they would not have it done in time and I explain to them that is why I brought my truck in is because I was told it could be completed...

Our Toyota Tacoma truck's battery needed to be jumpstarted early on 4/26/24 morning; it was under warranty with Brakes Plus. So, I brought the running Tacoma in to get a new battery for my husband; he had to go to work. They told me it needed a new alternator. I contacted my husband, who called Toyota and was confirmed that it was covered under our extended...

Our SUV was taken to the 129th & Quebec store to have SUV tested. They started with testing battery & starter. But were not sure of complete issue so we had it towed to 120th & Grant store where said the batteries & starter were bad. Why did the store at 129th not find bad batteries? They supposedly replaced both and the started failed again, but they...

June 9 2023 Brakes Plus in Tempe, AZ replaced my alternator woth a remanufactured alternator after the intake manifold gasket leaked onto the old one. They replaced the intake manifold gasket and few things to address the leak. We were never given an option between remanufactured and new for the alternator. We paid $1450 for the total of the work. 10/3/23 — tuesday — 9:00 am, headlight bulb needs replaced-passenger side, got charged $389.00 just for bulb (1). The most likely found at all the auto stores was $129.00 to $189.00, since when do you have to pay $200.00 more just for the bulb, is this the way you do business, can't believe you get away with that, thought l found a good place to bring car in for repair, just think about that, who can you trust to be honest with you, disappointed!
Desired outcome: Be truthful quite overcharging, $200.00 more for 1 bulb(389.00) outrageous
Incompetence regarding mistake they made after a brake job
4/3/2023 had front rotors and pads replaced then driving days later and noticed an intermittent grinding from the driver side wheel that got progressively worse. After getting home found 2 lug nuts I could remove with my fingers and the rest on the driver side wheel were way under torqued, I thanked god the wheel did not come off with my children in it...

On 12-2 I took my 2013 F350 to Brakes Plus at 5594 S Gibraltar Way Centennial, Co 80015.
The problem I had was the death wobble.
Your people went through the front end and determined that my trouble was in a series of (5) tie rod ends, a suspControl Arm link, Ball joint and a Steering stabilizer.. They said they had to do an alignment when the work was completed.
I was skeptical about their diagnosis but figured they were the professionals. I approved the work. Invoice# [protected] I paid $2310.13.
I was able to test drive my truck later in the week. I experienced the same issue. Nothing was corrected. Still had the death wobble.
I spoke to Dennis (I think it was Dennis) and told him I still had the problem. He said to bring it back in which I did.
The problem I had occurred at highway 65 MPH and higher speeds which I thought I had informed them of. I asked them if they had test drove the truck. They said they did and did not experience the issue. I asked where they did the test drive and they told me on a near by road Smoky Hill Rd with a 40 MPH speed limit. This at a speed under what I told them my trouble occurred.
They took another look at the truck and determined that the track bar was the issue Inv#[protected]. I was not charged for this procedure. I picked up my truck and started home only to discover my steering wheel 90 Degrees off and the alignment was off too.
I took it right back and complained. Dennis got the truck back in and had the alignment redone.
I went for another test drive at highway speeds and experienced the death wobble again.
I took it back and let them try again. This time the said the camber was off and they needed to shim to get it closer to spec. Dennis said that this was $491.00 dollars and he asked if I could help with the cost. I told him that I would split the cost if this fixed my problem. I asked that he test drive the truck on the highway after this work was completed. He had a concern about the toll road to get to I70. Said that other customers got mad if the got on the toll road. I told him I wanted the truck fixed and the only way to test it was on the highway. I told him I would pay the tolls.
He finally test drove my truck as per my wishes and experienced the death wobble. At which time he called me and said he did not know what else to do. That I needed to find another mechanic to fix my issues.
$2310.13 may not be a lot of money to Brakes plus but it is a significant amount to me.
I spoke to my diesel mechanic across the parking lot from this Brakes Plus to ask them if they could recommend a good mechanic to work on my front end. They informed me that they did which I didn’t know. And they informed me that they had done a complete inspection of my front end in August when they replaced a wheel bearing and found no issues with any of the components that Brakes Plus deemed defective and replaced.
I am asking for a refund of $2310.13 since my problem was never corrected.
Desired outcome: Refund
Dennis at Brakes Plus called and apologized and told me that I would be receiving a full refund. Which I did receive promptly after he said it was on its way. Dennis was pleasant to deal with through all of this. Glad it was resolved.
alignment
On Friday afternoon of September 30th 2022, I called Brakes Plus at 5715 Palmer Park Blvd. in Colorado Springs. I spoke to Vaden [I didn’t get his last name] and told him I needed an alignment on a 1991 Ford F250, but that it had a truck-camper on it, giving it a height of 9’ 2”. He assured me that the truck-camper wouldn’t be a problem and booked me an appointment for the following Tuesday (October 4th) at 2:00pm. As soon as I arrived, I was told that they wouldn’t be able to align the truck because of the camper. I asked to speak to Vaden, and when he came out to the lobby, he told me that he’d thought I meant the truck had a 9’ 2” lift (an average lift is between two and five inches). Then he suggested two other places: Layton Truck Equipment (which was actually Holman Vehicle Uplifting & Equipment) and Phases Truck and Auto Repair. Neither of which, as it turned out, could accommodate me. Vaden thought it was funny when I told him that the appointment had cost me an entire day that had been completely wasted. “Hey,” he said. “We’re all human” – and continuing to laugh, he turned his back on me and walked back into the shop. I've had work done at other Brakes Plus locations, and I've never had an issue. I would expect to be treated better by your employees.
Desired outcome: I simply wish to make you aware of this.
Warranty Alternator/ Expensive labor charge
I received a new alternator December 2021, and paid $1,600. My car started acting up again in August 2022. I took it back to Brakes Plus, they said it's the alternator again. I'm confused why I have to pay almost $1,100 for for labor, when my car is under warranty. Shouldn't the labor be under warranty or definitely cheaper than $1,100. I've also gone to other repair shops and the prices I'm being quoted for both labor and part does not come close to what Brakes Plus is quoting, and it has not been 8 months since Brakes plus "fixed my car".
Desired outcome: I would like to get my alternator repair, and not pay that much money.
Brake pads
07/2010. Greeley Colorado.
Paid for the machining of roto cuffs.
And the cuffs were in excellent condition.
Only work needed, was brake pad replacement.
Cost was $1,000. In unneeded work.
10/2012. Cheyenne WY.
The counter clerk was verbally abusive to my spouse. His condescending and out of line commentary. Is Wrong. The young hispanic male has a serious issue towards Caucasians.
And should be removed.
No reply or concern from the in store or upper corporate office. For any complaint follow thru.
As expected
Desired outcome: No realistic management concerns for the customer base.
Alignement
I replaced the tie rod end on my vehicle and then I took it to council bluffs iowa brakes plus to get aligned and now not even a month later and the tie rod end is bad and causing my tire to wear. I took it to a brakes plus in o.Aha to have it aligned correctly and thats when I found out about the tie rod end. I took my car in to have the ac charged, got the car back same day it was a Sunday the system held a charge the next morning I came out to a puddle underneath the car I took the car back Monday morning they tell me that a hose has a hole in it and they needed to call the dealership to have them order the part and to fix it would cost me 575 dollars I go in to pick up the car the guy asks if I could find the part myself I said I can for only 30$ he then says oh I could only find it for 130$ so he lied, I asked about the warrant y he shrugged... I just had a baby2 days before this so I left before I got super emotional, how can the ac hold a charge for a whole day and then a hose has a hole in it the next day and nothing is covered by your warranty, so my hundred and eight dollars was just wasted and I still cant put my newborn in a car in Phoenix az where it's over 100 degrees out... what's the warranty for then... I want a refund of something because this is wrong and needs to be addressed
service and "alleged" repairs
RIP-OFFS, I brought my daughter's Jeep Grand Cherokee in to have the rear Main Seal and the front steering trac bar replaced. Not only did they drain all of the tranny fluid, and EVEN though I asked the mechanic if he was sure that he had checked the trans fluid, he said he had, he lied, My daughter didn’t get 1/2 block when the jeep no longer ran!, to top that off "no pun "intended" they didn’t even fill the trans fluid then, they only put in enough to stop the slipping from the NO FLUID they put in. I had to bring it back again they next day and literally they ganged up on me before having to admit that they DID NOT put trans fluid back in!, Additionally, they did not tighten the pangard bolts which nearly cost my daughter her life. Additionally, the rear main seal leaks now more than it did BEFORE the work. Brakes plus is a scam of thieves and will not perform anything near safe reliable auto work. If you care about your kids driving experience, safety and the car they are in DONT ALLOW BRAKES PLUS ANYWHERE NEAR THEIR CAR! AWFUL, Argumentative, Unreliable. WILL DAMAGE the vehicle more than anything else. That's what they did to my daughter's vehicle. They should be forced to close the business. All of this was proven by me to them, after they came at me in the store, attempting to be threatening. I made them put the Jeep on the lift and then and only then did they have to admit that they had damaged the transmission by NOT putting transmission Fluid back. I have since found that the Pangard bolts were NOT tightened by a separate independent Mechanic which could have KILLED my daughter. Shame on you Brakes Plus, SCAMMERS, JUNK work, awful, NEVER GO THERE EVER! NO Work they ever "said" they performed was EVER done even half way correct!
Fraud and Theft
I have looked thru the inter net for the Complaints on this company. I have seen a number of them describing the same problems. Fraud and this is in relation to their work and Theft in relation to well read the posts. My experience is so similar to so many of these complaints. They did a diagnostics which was incorrect. Which allowed them to charge me for a problem that in my mind did not exist. I believed what they told me. (Shame on me) Even a first year mechanic could have seen this. If they had listened to what I was saying would have found the problem without having to put it on any machines. Now the short version. I took my car to this so called repair shop told them steam was coming off my motor right in front of the driver's seat. And you could see water/anti freeze dripping on the ground. Well they came back to me with the problem being water pump/ timing chain which is on the other side of the motor. I authorized the repairs they called me 4 days later on a 2 day job and told me that my cooling system would not pressure up. They did a pressure test and found my thermostat housing was broken. (That is or was the problem) 6 weeks later back in the shop. A part they put in broke according to them and basically broke my motor. 1 month later I got my car back. Went back 3 month later and my water pump went bad again. So since the beginning of the years this company has replaced 3 water pumps 2 timing chains 2 thermostat housing and a motor. I would never tell anyone what to do when it comes to taking your car to a repair shop. But please keep this in the back of your mind if you think you want to take your car to this company. Also I have contacted several of the so called higher ups. And well I have not heard from them in a little more then 2 months now. They took my money and they kept screwing up the job. And they don't have to worry about any of the warranties because I will never use them again. And trusting my car is out because of the shooty work. May car now runs hotter then it ever has. The way they get rid of their screw ups is to stop calling or any communications. I hope that karma truly is a one not to be messed with and they get what is coming to them.
Said I needed parts and they didn't even remove the AC pressure port caps
AC wasn't blowing cold air. Took it to them to see if they did AC checks and they said yes. They looked at the truck and told me I needed upper and lower hoses because they had leaks. Wanted $500 to do the work and I refused for hoses are not that expensive or that difficult to replace. I went home and looked under the hood to see if I could see any leak...

I went in to the Surprise, AZ Brakes Plus with squealing brakes. I thought I needed new pads/rotors. After they checked they said they were fine and that the squealing was due to dust. They could have sold me a brake repair I didn't need and I would not have been the wiser. Was so pleased I had them change the oil. They were friendly and professional.
I went back some months later when I did need the brakes and they drove me home and picked me up when the work was done.
I'm very pleased with them and will continue to go back.
I brought my car in for oil change and got..
I was going on a road trip for Christmas and needed an oil change and wanted to make sure all was well under the hood of my car and I took it to Brakes Plus in Superior, Co. So, I had a coupon for oil change and free winterization check. Dropped of my car and went to grab a bite to eat. A few minutes later the store called and said that my oil pan was stripped and needed to be replaced. Now, this was 3 oclock on Fri afternoon, just a week before Christmas. Their quote was $560. I got my dad on the phone who is VERY familiar with vehicles. He discussed the situation with the store manager and they argued, on my cell phone for 20 minutes. We wer told that they couldn't repair the stripped plug on the oil pan and advised that I not drive the vehicle. They put the blame on the previous place that did the oil change, which happened to be the dealership I purchased the vehicle at. I called our local mechanic shop and explained the situation. They said they could fix the problem with a kit that was made especially for this problem. I told the guy at the store that I am taking my car to my mechanic, who would repair the problem at a fraction of the cost and all *** broke loose. He jacked my car back up, put in oil, charged me full price for oil change (remember, I had a coupon) But, they wouldn't honor it. Never did they winterization check. He then proceded to yell in fornt of the other customers how *** of an idea it would be to drive my car 5 miles to my mechanic. Once my car was off the lift, he pulled it out of the garage, tires sqealing and then slammed on the brakes in front of me. I told him I am sorry for taking my business elsewhere btu, could he blame me? The cost was $400 less than what they wanted. He then slammed my car door and scurried back into the garage. I WILL NEVER go back there even if they were the only place around for oil change.
First of all Brakes Minus does not employ competent Mechanics because real mechanics will not be associated with them out of fear of a bad reputation and loss of credibility. Secondly, this attitude is not limited to certain locations, it is a corporate philosophy and it permeates every single location. Do yourself a favor. Avoid brakes plus at all costs. I know this because I am a real tech and I've cleared up their lies for my customers first hand, saving them hundreds in every case.
Unecessary Repairs
Reached 60, 000 miles and reuested a timing belt change for maintenance purposes. Joe, new mgr. recommended fuel pump replacement as well. I told him that all that I wanted was timing belt replaced as there was nothing wrong with either belt or fuel pump. Again he suggested that if I wanted to change timing belt, would be worth while to get a new fuel pump...
