Manager - derogatory comment
Yesterday (10/14/22 @ ~1:00pm), I visited your Ft. Greene Myrtle Ave location. I wanted to buy soup ingredients and possibly a jar of Vicks vapor rub.
I asked someone who worked there if the store sold Vicks Vapor Rub. He replied "yes" and then walked me to the front counter where it was kept. I asked for the prices - as I had already researched prices at other stores - and he used the cash register closest to the display cabinet to check the prices. Once he quoted them to me, I replied, "No thank you. It's cheaper at Walmart." He then said quietly to the cashier, "She can't afford it." and the cashier giggled.
I was offended, but not shocked because the employees at this store are always rude. Still, this was on a more blatant level than I had experienced before. Even though I was bothered, I continued to shop for my soup ingredients as I had a head cold and wanted to make vegetable soup to help relieve it.
I proceeded to check out - with the same cashier who had giggled when the male employee made the disparaging remark. In usual Bravo fashion, she did not say hello, she did not talk to me, and she did not help bag my groceries. Again, I am quite accustomed to piss-poor customer service at this store - which is why I go as infrequently as possible. To her credit, however, she did say, "thank you" which was a surprise because no one usually does that.
On my way home, I resolved in my mind that I would NEVER return to Bravo again - that rude comment was the final straw. Then I thought I should go back and tell the manager about the incident so that s/he would be aware.
When I returned, I discovered that the man who made the comment WAS the manager. Imagine that. He is about 30 years old, maybe 5' 10" - 6' tall, thin to medium build, with black, circular stud earrings in each ear. When I approached him, I called, "sir, sir" as he was about to walk through a door. Once I found out he was the manager, I recounted the incident and he immediately denied it and started yelling, "Don't put words in my mouth!" He went on to lie and say that what he had said to the cashier was, "I cannot match the prices of Walmart...".
The lie was disappointing, but not surprising. After he finished yelling & lying, I asked if I could continue and went on to express my long-standing dissatisfaction with the poor customer service and that after his comment, I would NEVER return to the store. I also told him that I shopped there because it was convenient (close to my apt) and the meats were good quality. I also told him that the short, stocky manager was very nice and that a Black cashier who'd helped me the other day was very nice. In addition, there has been ONE other cashier (middle-aged) with shoulder-length curly hair who is always very nice.
I shared with him that I taught customer service at LaGuardia airport & JFK for a living. He replied that he wanted a card and that maybe they could have me train there. -_- Really? What, with him as the leader of rude and disrespectful service and denying it afterward? I closed by telling him that I am an adult with integrity who wanted to tell him directly what I felt.
TIP TO YOU: Ft. Greene is a very affluent neighborhood. The people here have a lot of money to spend. With the abhorrent customer service at Bravo, NONE of that money will be spent there.
The people who live in the public housing that surrounds the store are the ones who mainly shop there. I think your employees feel comfortable being rude to them as they are financially poor people. That is the way in the US, after all. Another customer followed me out of the store and commented that the employees are racist. Racist or not, they are definitely RUDE.
From now on, I will shop at Mr. Mango where they are nice and courteous to me. I will get my leafy greens from the farmer's market on Saturdays. I will get my meat from Trader Joe's (even though it's a longer walk). What I will NOT do - is patronize Bravo Supermarket. I'm sorry I ever did.
Desired outcome: Fire the manager. His actions were so egregious (insulting a customer, yelling at a customer, lying about his actions), that they demonstrate his CHARACTER.
Food safety
A complaint was filed with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer ServicesDivision of Food Safety.

madame gougousse pickled salad
This product was very nasty tasting and mushy. I brought the product, where the clerk/manager said the product was good to buy. Then I tried it and the product was horrible and tasted expired. So I kept my receipt and returned to the store the next day to exchange or get a return. The store refused to return the product and or even get an exchange. I have...

meat, customer service, price
First of all let me start by saying to check your items before purchasing them from Bravo Supermarket. I purchased four jars of baby food and two out of four were expired. If you have ever been in a Bravo store you probably have noticed most items are over priced and the meat is ridiculously cheap. Not to my surprise, the meat is close to spoiled. It ha...
