I was recently went to a BK in Louisville, Ky. the Dixie Highway Location... when I placed my order like I had done in the past several times before. I get the same thing almost everytime. This time the total was different. I ask why my total amount was so much, the manager said they were charging for small waters now. In the past I usually get my meal and 2 small waters at no charge to go. This time she wanted to charge. 41 cents each. I ask why so much... I would have given a dime or maybe even a quarter... I know they have to pay for the cups sometimes. But I thought this was a little excessive, so I ask why. The manager said it was a new store policy. So I have a question... is this a scam or what... is this store manager trying to make up some loss's? I sure don't think it's fair to charge such an excessive fee. If there trying to loose my business... they've succeeded at this store anyway. I planned on reporting them to the management of BK, but guess what... they have no complaints dept. that I can find on their website and no email address that I can send them a complaint to either.. Is this deliberate on there part. I don't think they give a damn anyway but they should know whats going on at this store anyway. So if anyone has the address for the complaints dept or wants to forward this to them... I'd appreciate it.

In case you've been living under a rock, much of the southeast has been under a rather severe dought. Maybe the store is trying to discourage those who get a lot of water just because it's free?

Is Rick kidding in his comment on this post? Do you think that it costs Burger King more money for water during a drought, and $.41 cents a small cup at that? Respectfully submitted.

I live in Sioux Falls, SD. I eat at BK so many times that my brothers told me that I should buy stock. Since I have been a SC (55 years old), I would purchase a Whopper & a Senior Citizen drink. However, your fries are delicious. The Senior drink was the medium size for 35 cents. Then, the drink went up to 50 cents, which was fine. But now the Senior drink size is smaller than a cup of Coffee--like a child's drink. I saw an older gentleman buy a drink (medium size) and coffee. I do not know what he was charged. Some BKs do not offer caffeine Diet Coke either. I do not eat your yogurt sundaes for $1.3o on Wednesday & Sundays. I just can not afford it

Burger King is absolutely going down the drain. I will not be surprised to see most stores shut their doors within the next 3 years.
I have approximately 5 BK's in the immediate area and all of them are understaffed (most have 2 people). The last 4 times I have gone (my son always wants the toy) they have A- made us wait a ridiculous amount of time to take the order and even longer for food. B- screwed up the order ( big kids meal with chicken tenders and honey mustard sauce should not be that hard).

PLEASE SEND YOUR COMPLAINTS or CALL
We can't let these jerks continue to take our hard earned cash for bad service and bad food. Jeez, I think i wasted 40 dollars worth of gas just waiting in the drive thru.

I never go to Burger King but my family loves it, so tonight my brother and I decided to go on a burger run. I decided tonight to go to Burger King in Pasadena next to Pasadena City College since my brother likes it.

While going into the drive through, my brother warned me that the last three times he was at this store they ripped him and my parents off for food.

I found that difficult to believe so we went through anyways.

When we received the order, he began going through the bag as I drove out of the drive through so I pulled over to the curb on the street. Turns out that they had ripped me off my Apple Pie.

I was shocked... I looked at the receipt figuring maybe the guy taking the order just didn't hear me when I ordered the pie but it was on it.

I grabbed the bag and receipt and walked up to the drive through window where the guy was sitting with his back to the window right after a car had pulled out.

He didn't see me so I knocked on the window and told me he didn't give me the apple pie.

He didn't check the bag or receipt but just said "He needs the apple pie". Then he walked away and a few minutes later another worker at the counter who was in uniform slid a pie to me across the counter from where he was up to the drive through window.

I never saw the guy at the drive through window again who was not in uniform but wearing a white t-shirt. No apology? No excuse? Just a pie slid across the counter.

I walked back to the car and we drove home - my brother suggested going onto the Burger King website to complain. But unlike the burger places I usual go to, Mc Donalds, Jack N the Box, Tops, Tommy's, others - Burger King doesn't have a comments or complaints area - they want me to waste more of my time to call them while I am at work - Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

I am so glad I don't eat at Burger King. They have proved to me that since the time I decided to avoid them due to lousy service, poor food quality, ripping off food - back in the 1980's that they haven't grown-up and still don't give a crude for their customers.

Other complaints about this experience:

* Ordered their new SteakHouse burger and it was lousy.

* For whatever reason - every burger I've ordered from the Pasadena, California Burger King - they always smash my burger - what the crap is up with that? There is just something about a smashed burger that makes it seem old or like it might be out of a dumpster or something.

* According to my brother who likes their whoppers - this was the fourth of the last five orders with-in the past several months that they ripped us off.

* Of all the local burger options vendors in our area, this is the only place where the employees seem kick-back and don't appear to care about their jobs. I think that is really strange, because at all the local burger joints the employees seem to like their job, have some pride in what they do and seem somewhat professional (as far as burger places go). But at least at the Burger King in Pasadena, they remind me of Hyde from That 70's show and could give a rats ###.

The Burger King in Watauga, Texas on Denton Highway has
horrible service! The employees are all Mexicans! They cannot
speak or understand English! They are slow as XMAS, and very
often, you do not get what you ordered! They are rude as can be.
I've never heard the phrase Thank You from any of these Dummies!

I will say that it is more common to charge for water. Some places even have water cups that are a separate charge. The ONE thing that is missing from your "complaint/question" is what your receipt read. If it did in fact read "Water x2 @ .41 ea." or the like then sure it is policy however I will never pay for something that is NOT on my receipt.

There is one classic trick that employees of fast food restaurants will do... listen up now... being that they work there for about 40 hrs./wk they get to know the exact cost of items without having to ring them up. They also begin to remember what change people get back from each and begin to do some math in their head...
So you come in and order a #3 Value Sized... they'll tell you "that's $5.24" so you pull up, give them 6 bucks and get your change. What you don't know is that at the same time they just yelled to the people in the back that they need a #3 value sized at the window (which means that it's not on the board, just make it... and now). They pocket the $6 you gave them and (since they have kept their till open just slightly) they grab the $.76 from there to give you the change. They then hand you your food and you leave.
They know now that they are $.76 short on their till... well do that again with another customer and they are now $1.52 UNDER in their drawer. Well simple once they get there they simply grab the two $1 bills from their pocket, put them in the drawer and take $.50 out. Now they have pocketed $10.50, their till is only $.02 OVER which nobody cares about generally, and the store is out the food for that meal. So let's move on to how they make that up...
Managers have the power... Ever gotten a free meal because of a screw up on a prior visit or the like? Well notice how they ring it up then the manager comes over and presses some buttons, inserts a key or swipes a card then the total is magically $0.00? That's called a "manager meal" and it's there for that reason. All the food is electronically registered in the store's inventory and the computer system knows exactly how much of each should be used to make any item on the menu (each item has exact specs on how much should be on there). So when they run inventories (generally every night) they can see what they are over/under on and adjust etc. Well if the manager just had people make food without ringing it up then their inventory would be all off. So here's where management corruption comes in. A good store manager will randomly throughout the day, ring up FALSE manager meals. This way the system will subtract the product from inventory but the food will not get made. This is tricky and really needs a good understanding of how things work to pull off well. When you have guys that do know what they are doing though... they are generally VERY good. See you want to get your inventory as close to even as possible so too many manager meals and you'll show your WAY over... not enough and you're way under.

I know that's more than you wanted to hear but I just wanted to share some insider steals with you :)

BTW I never participated in any of the above actions however I'm not stupid and know what happened when I worked in fast food. It's not rocket science.

I read your post with interest. I would not be surprised if fake orders and pocketing money isn't what has led to problems at a local BK. They are out of stock on many items, and still charge like you are getting the full meal. You have to read your receipt carefully and make sure you have not been overcharged, given the wrong item, or shorted an item. Usually this happens in the drivethrough, and you are up the road before you realize it.
Boycott BK #11175 at 2925 Bridge Road in Suffolk, VA unless you enjoy getting ripped off.
Have it your way? Not likely.

I just want to warn everyone to be very careful when ordering a kids/combo meal. I recently went through the drive-thru and ordered a kids meal (advertised price of 3.60) and a small fry. They gave me a total price of over $7.50. I had to request a manager before they were able to see that I was being overcharged. When they ring up the meals they show up item by item on the receipt (for example the kids meal shows up something like cheeseburger, small fry, kids drink), but when you add the amounts they are charging you for each item, they don't equal the menu price. They had to refund my drink price AND the price of a toy to get it to equal out.

I don't know if it was just the way this employee rang up the order or if it usually happens this way. I usually order more than a small fry with the kids meal. The high price as compared to the number of items ordered is what made me notice it.

I ordered a Jr Whopper and small fry off the dollar menu in the drive thru and with tax the total came to over $2.80. I thought I had misunderstood so I drove ahead to the register and the $2.80+ price was quoted again. I told the cashier that I was ordering items off the dollar menu and he told me there were no fries on the dollar menu and that a small fry cost $1.50(?). I didn't have time to argue so I removed the item from the order and paid for the burger only. (I can afford the difference but I hate being ripped off!)

I went back by the drive thru later and sure enough there are small fries on the dollar menu.
How many people are over charged because they don't remember the prices from the time they leave the menu/squak box to the time they get up to the payment window?

I went to the Burger King at 9803 19th ave SE Everett, WA 98208 and when i got there was a kid that was his first day. He asked for help to fill the order but no one came. He charged me twice the amount of the order on my debit. Well total was 6.21 and he charged 12.21, So i received an over draft fee of 35.00. I asked them to put the money back on the card and the manger there named Stephine on 1/13/2010 @ 8:30pm was very rude and said all she could do was give me cash back. And could not return my money on the card. I was very upset but agreed since i had no choice, then i asked for a comp on the meal cause i had just paid 35.00 for there mistake. She said no they could not do that she said pay for your order or leave. I said thats fine i will pay cause at this point i was starving. I had to wait 23min for 3 double quarter pounders. They had my mothers order done in 2min. I was in shock not only did i get ripped off but i got home. And was so hungry i ate it well it was ice cold and the meat was hard. and there was no way that was a double quarter pounder not only that, i threw up and have been sick ever since. I think they gave me the patty's that been sitting in there all day cause they were mad. So now i have food poison an over drawn bank account. I bought my mother dinner and she is also sick. If you can avoid this store do so at all costs. I will never return and i mean never!

Not really sure what you mean, iitsskatieee. I don't have a problem. It clearly states in my post that "I just want to warn everyone to be very careful...". I usually don't look at the receipts unless I think I'm missing something and I definitely don't sit and add up the individual items in my combos to make sure I'm not being overcharged, so I just wanted to bring it to everyone's attention. I didn't rant and rave saying that I would never go back or that I would never order that item again. I don't feel that telling people to pay attention is overreacting.

I stopped at the Drive Thru this morning and ordered a bacon egg and cheese biscuit. The girl asked if I wanted it in a combo and I stated no.
She said that will be $2.82. I could not believe a single biscuit cost that much! Was I being punished for not buying a combo?
Also, some time a ago I told a BK employee that BK is encourging people to over eat by trying to get them to supper size their order. The employee told me if you don't want the extra food just throw it away. My reply to her was, and be wasteful!?!? It always ticks me off when an employee tries to get me to purchase a combo or super size my order. If I wanted more food I would order it. However, I don't appreciate having to pay more because I didn't choose a combo or a super sized meal.
I should have told the girl to forget it but I was in a hurry. BK owes me some money back!

I had that experience at several different location of Burger Kings. The menu say one price and they charge you a higher price. Luckily I am the type that check my receipts.

yea! i hate burger king! i was in the burger king in san antonio tx on south ww white road and i went inside to buy a burger. i was pressed for time cause i had to get back to work. first the employee took long to take my order then they took long to prepare my order. 15 min passed and my burger was sitting there ready and wrapped, all they had to do was put it in a bag and give it to me, but, that was too hard for them to do. so i got upset and i told the cashier, loudly, to give me my money back now! she just stood there staring at me, so i repeated myself, loudly. the dumb girl still just stood there. then a ghetto thug looking female manager comes out from the back yelling at me and acting like she was going to kick my butt. so i told her loudly to give me my money back and she yelled at me and she refused to give me my money back because i was being loud, then she said she was going to call the police if i didnt leave. i wanted to leave but i also wanted my money back! she never gave me my money and she kept on demanding that i leave the store cause i was talking loud. well she was yelling very loud at me. she was louder than i was. all she had to do was giving me my money back instead of engaging in a yelling match with me, the customer, who suppose to be always right!
