Canada Post lost passport

I applied for us visa and they asked me to leave my non-canadian passport (I am not a canadian citizen) and a prepaid xpresspost envelop, after months of investigation they sent me an email that they had sent the passport in the xpresspost envelop I provided them with from the consulate in toronto to my address in mississauga. I waited for the envelop to reach me but nothing happened, so I contacted canada post, they told me that the parcel wasn't delivered and was sent to undelivered mail office, the lady told me that she will send them and ask them to deliver the parcel as a high priority. I waited for one week with nothing delivered, then I contacted customer service again, I explained to them that this passport is a critical piece of id for me, I cannot travel or stay in canada without it as it has all my papers inside, all the visas for canada and us which will take forever to apply for it again, and of course cost much money. I have been through this nightmare for about 3 weeks with no solution. Canada post seems to be not finding the parcel despite being in their undeliverable mail office, it seems that one of their employee opened the parcel and sold my passport. I am stuck in canada until I apply for new papers, I have not enough money to reschedule my flights or apply for new documents. I am so desperate and frustrated that canada post doesn't give a damn about the lost parcel and they offer only 100 dollars as reimbursement of any lost item. I need someone from canada post to talk with, or any lawyer who can help and tell me what to do.

Canada Post discrimination

Canada Post H3H1N0 branch 0n St-Catherine St. [protected]) I went there to sent my Small Package (0.428 Kg) to my homeland . I send this kind of package 2-3 times a week from there for 4 months. But last week, when I went there, I saw a woman, she is "new employee". I gave her my small package, she checked my homeland in a second after she didn't accept my package. She told me that "this package is small, I can't stick custom paper" after I told her this is new rule or your rule ? She ignored me and didn't answer me anymore. I told her that I'm sending exactly this size of package for 4 months from all Canada Post branch and just ask your colleauge, he knows me, he didn't say anything about this kind of rule or something. After she ignored me such a child and I gave my package to other employee, she didn't say anything and accepted my small package.. By the way, "the new employee" was grambling and they tried to changed her colleagues' attitude. Today again I went there and again she met me again she didn't accept my package again after I told her I!m gonna complain you because there is no this knd of rules, you're just discriminating me! Just give your name and I'm gonna show you paper when I sent this package another branch. I left there and I sent it from other branch.

This is my complain about this FAT, UGLY, RUDE "New Kind of Canapost's Queen Employee".Who is supporting this kind of persons? She doesn't know anything about her job. She is half witted person and she is working centre of Montreal in Canada Post ! What kind of company that they don't know anything about her knowledge, experience, attitude etc. I believe so she has "friend at court" in Canada Post and nobody doesn't care for her..

Call the number on the delivery slip and request re-delivery. I had this same problem and spoke to a family member, who is a Canada Post mailman, and he said the mail person is definitely supposed to attempt delivery before leaving notice. If your mail person continues doing this, email Canada Post and complain. They're usually pretty prompt.

Canada Post canada post - unsafe for delivery (snow)

Some Canada Post mail carriers will not hesitate to label your property 'Unsafe for Delivery' due to any amount of snow deemed too uncomfortable for the carrier to tip toe through.

Latest problem concerns me a lot. Our regular postie is fabulous. She has apparently been injured, so we have a replacement carrier. The replacement will not walk up the four steps up our deck, open the gate and place mail in the box. It's being left on the stairs ... only to be blown around. Hopefully I can get a person to answer the phone on Monday. I'm trying to find something online about the conditions where they won't put the mail in the box, but so far no luck!

I ran into a similar problem. We had something on our walkway that someone was coming to pick up. The carrier would not walk around it (on the driveway) to put in box. Deemed unsafe / blocked access.

Canada Post mail forward notice mis-delivered & not taking phone calls - too busy - and hanging up

Today, feb. 4, 2011, I received an "important notice from canada post - confirmation of change of address or hold mail service" notice and it's addressed to the previous owners of my house who moved out six months ago. So, the previous owners have paid for and entrusted canada post to handle their mail forwarding and canada post has just notified me, the wrongful recipient, of this. How unprofessional and incompentent. Here's the kicker. The notice bears this phone number to call and this is what it states, "if you have not requested either of these services, please report this matter by calling our toll free number at [protected]. " so, I call [protected] today (Friday) at 1:45 p. M. And you know what I got? I got an automated message telling me that... "we're experiencing higher than expected call volumes and we will not be taking your call today. Thank you for calling and have a nice day. " and their automated system proceeded to hang-up on me. Now, does this give you the impression that canada post seriously manages their, in their words, "important notices"? To make matters worse, I attempted to email a complaint to them and yet, every "contact us" button I clicked on simply gave me a bunch of faq's with no contact information but, rather, more links to more faq's just in case the first round of faq's didn't cover it. Of course, none of them did.

Seriously, this has made me realize that canada post is not trustworthy and that they simply do not care about the inferior services that they're providing. The attitude has been clearly demonstrated as, "we don't care about your complaints and we don't want to hear them either - go away!"
To that, I say, "you got it!"

We were in a long line-up at the post office at Shoppers Drug Mart located

The line was moving very slowly. The postal clerk did not seem to know what

Escalating to CanadaPost Ombudsman was a waste of time, since Beth Lambert, the CanadaPost Ombudsman did nothing about it.

Dear Canada Post employee that just rudely commented on this post. How dare you insinuate that someone who has a legit complaint is an ###? Hello pot, this is kettle? Have you had the misfortune of trying to get decent parcel service from CanadaPost? well, I have. I live overseas in a developing country, and I have to tell my friends and family to mail my necessities from THE U.S. because sadly, as much as I hate to admit, not only is it cheaper, its a far superior and efficient postal system.

Canada Post won't deliver parcels

For a long time now I have been unable to persuade Canada Post to deliver parcels to me even though they have been well paid to do just that. I live in an apartment and I am being punished by lazy Posties who refuse to make the effort to just ring the buzzer or even try to knock on the door. I have complained to the Post outlet given on the notice but they are Pakis who just stand there with a glazed look on their eyes and do not attempt to find my mail unless I pretty much point out the package to them. Is there some magic thing I can do to compell Canada Post to deliver the mail they are paid to? Who can I talk to in person at the post office? Yesterday (Dec 17) I waited all day for delivery only to yet again be foiled by the elusive postie who stealthely hangs the notice card and flees. As per usual they did not tear off the label that should be applied to the parcel so of course when I went to the post office to try and get it the Pakis refused to even look because the label had not been applied by the Postie. They told me to call the 1 800 number which of course just tells me Canada post is closed - please try later. I tried again today with the same results. I guess you are closed alot at this time of the year but the recording doesn't even tell me when you might be open next. I tried to track the package by phone but your system would not take the id number I have. I also tried online with the same refusal given. You guys are the PERFECT "no" machine. Can anyone tell me how I can start ACTUALLY getting the mail I pay for? I have spent many trips in the last couple of years going to the office where my undelivered mail goes to and often I come away empty handed because the Pakis can't be bothered to put in any effort to reach down and pick up my package. The frustration I experience is considerable and you guys should owe me quite alot of money back since your failure to deliver. I am leaving for holidays and expected this very important package and now of course you guys screwed me yet again and by the time I get back my package will be sent back again. That is the cruelest irony: often my undelievered package sits there so long because the Pakis can't find it and then it is sent back. I doubt very much anyone will call me but I am requesting a call from Canada Post to see if they might try a little customer service since they have been well paid for it. Again my cell is . My latest package which can not be tracked (as usual) The delivery person put no information of any kind on the notice. No time, why it was not delivered, didn't tear off the label so of course the post office where it is supposed to be said they can't help me. You guys are not reachable by phone so I am reduced to having to send e-mail. Your goal is Customer Service?

I stand by my evaluation and care no more now for their condescending ### service then I did back then. Their attitude and work effort (lack of) offends me and am entitled to dislike their body odor and curry breath and their lazy work ethics. This country was built on hard work by many people of different cultures but these people want to just swoop in and enjoy the fruits of all of the hard work before them that shaped what we have. There should be a minimal number of them allowed and if I could have them banned I would. Have recently moved to the US for a stint and the Postal Service here is so much better than at home in Canada. My Mom passed away last November and the day after she did a parcel was delivered THAT WAS DATED 2 YEARS PRIOR! It contained precious photos of her family that she really wanted but the pakis in Edmonton would not deliver it for what ever reasons as usual. I have no like for the pakis at all.

I know the service in Edmonton is awful but the racial comments are not needed to make point. I too have had enough and have tried to communicate with postal employees whose first language is neither English nor French and have had no sucess in getting a clear communication or answer. If the Post Office wishes to avoid giving service or clear answers it has suceeded by hiring people who are unable to properly and clearly communicate.

Canada Post customer service reps - my way or the highway

I phoned to follow up with a complaint I filed. They informed me that the package which is supposed to be held for two weeks for pickup was sent back to the Toronto depot for redelivery. So rather than actually delivering the package one block from the postal outlet they decided to send it back into the system to only once again come back for redelivery (sent south some 6hrs). I asked who authorized the return of the parcel and when I didn't get an answer I asked to speak to a supervisor. I was given over to "Lynn". I explained that the package had items for an elderly persons health. She proceeded to tell me no it didn't! Then when she didn't agree with anything I had to say threatened to hang up on me. I asked her for the name of who authorized return of my item. She then said that the item wasn't mine even though it was paid for by me. I said how can a supervisor not know who authorized return of a package and how do you figure the package contents don't belong to me. She had no answer. So I told her that I wanted to put in a complaint about her. She gave me a file number. I asked when could I expect a return call and she said that there wouldn't be a return call. I said why because the complaint is about you? She then said have a nice day and hung up on me. Again and again Canada Post REFUSES TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR MISTAKES on top of which they put peoples health at risk.

Canada Post Non delivery of mail

The Thorne post office is the worst postal outlet I've ever used. My 76 year old mother who can not walk and has cancer ordered a heater that included door to door delivery. Canada Post - Thorne location did not deliver the box. They don't give the standard services that you expect from a normal post office because they are simply substandard. Even though they are supposed to deliver they DO NOT! I contacted customer service on her behalf and was given excuses and refusal to deliver with a time expectation of two weeks just to have someone return my call. Two more calls were made...again refusing to deliver. On the third call the agent actually lied and said that the previous callers did not ask to have the parcel delivered! At the end of the last call they did not guarantee delivery but said they would "ask" the outlet...there was no reassurance that it would be delivered and they literally left a 76 year old cancer patient out in the cold! No service, no compassion and no control over their representatives/employees. A supervisor should have phoned and demanded that that box be delivered that day but instead they left her hanging and waiting. It is one block away - how lazy can the postal employees be! She is still waiting. Canada Post should be ashamed and need to straighten out and set a minimum standard in their service.

Canada Post rude senior employees - l4e1a4 branch

Unionizing government employees just encourages rude behaviour and overall poor employee performance.

There were two elderly Canada Post employees behind the counter that were clearly having major challenges with the tough-screen console and blamed me and my child - the customers for their shortcomings. I was trying to ask a question if a piece of paper added to the parcel would change the cost and the employee "sshhhssd" me. After a few attempts in getting an answer to my question - they finally answered me in a very exasperated and "dismissing" tone. As if my question was irrelevant and outright silly.

I pointed out that they were being very curt and abrupt. One of them said because it was all of a sudden too noisy - there were only two customers!

If they can't handle two customers and would put the blame on their customers for their poor behaviour - how about providing the employment opportunity to other people who would actually appreciate the work they do.

Canada Post Undeliverable mail

I made an online purchase which was mailed (Express post) to me using canada post. My package instead went to the 'undeliverable' mail office, who knows where that is... I got no answer form anyone form canada post because I was not the sender, they had my address on file, and yet no one could tell me why the item was deemed undeliverable. What’s most disturbing is; if canada post deems a package undeliverable they can sell it and pocket the cash…that’s just wrong, especially since they make it impossible to make a claim. I am so dissatisfied with how this was handled by canada post I will go out of my way to avoid using them in the future!

They lost a package with an incredibly sentimental, but low cost item. Filed a report, but nobody ever contacted me back, even after repeated efforts to get a resolution.

FYI, they are authorized to open and sell the contents of any "undeliverable" mail . If it's not deemed valuable, it is destroyed. So there isn't much incentive for them to put any effort into finding any identifying information.

I have sent two pieces of mail in the past few months both to government department in Victoria BC and neither one has ever reached it's destination. I phoned Canada Post today and got absolutely no help from them what so ever. They got blasted by me and I told them they were F... Useless. I asked them to put me through to the undeliverable dept they cannot do that as the have no direct line to them. The service I received today was deplorable.

I made an online purchase too on eBay and I was was out of town when the shipment arrived. It was kept at the local post office for a couple of weeks and just one before I returned home to claim it, they sent it back to the undeliverable mail office. Now when I call canadapost, the rep tells me that I cannot claim it back and the sender must contact their local postal agency to redirect it to my address. I made the purchase from a company in Hongkong, so its a waste of time and money if the parcel makes two trips back and forth. Canadapost should come up with a better process to hold parcels a little longer and allow for the recipient to claim it with proper identification.

There is a Facebook page for CPC failures http://www.facebook.com/pages/Canada-Post-Fail-we-demand-accountability/152229818166902?sk=wall . If we join forces we may be able to press on them eventually. Meanwhile it's easy for them to brush off the individual complaints.

absolutely canada post has done the same to me too and i believe its some employees who dont wanna take time to find the address and instead find it easy to just say undeliverable unless you live in some dangerous areas it is becoming common place and that should be stopped to otherwise a very efficent company give credit where due ok

Canada Post Failed delivery

A small package (About 500 g) was mailed from scarborough, ontario on thursday march 25 to my address in edmonton, alberta. It hasn't arrived as of thursday 8 april. When checking the tracking number, I was horrified to find that the package had arrived in edmonton postal depot on saturday 3 april, and finally the item was sent out for delivery on the 7th. Having not received it as of 5.30pm on the 8th, I phoned the canada post and received no satisfactory answer, except I was advised to contact the sender and put a trace on it.

Imagine the package is sitting somewhere a few blocks from my home for 5 days, and canada post was unable to deliver it.

They are eager to raise the postage rates regularly, it charges one of the highest rates in the world for letter mail and parcels, and the lowest speed in delivering them. Perhaps the only country that charges gst on stamps, and charges $5 for delivering customs parcels. It is time to replace the greedy heads of this inept crown corporation with people who can afford a little care towards its customers.

Recently, I bought an ipad cover in Amazon, and the company sent it by Canada Post.
As I am working on daytime, I am not able to take the parcel by myself, and my apartment building does not have any person to receive the parcel.

The Canada Post guy just left my parcel in the entrance of this building. Thanks for my neighbor passing, and take it to me.

Could the staff send the parcel to nearby shoppers? It is only 100 meters away from my apartment.

Time and time again, I have watched my mail carrier approach my door and leave a delivery slip, without attempting to deliver my package. When I can, I intercept her and ask why she did not deliver my parcel. In every case, my package is sitting in her van at the end of the street. Why does Canada Post feel the onus is on me to pick up my packages? Are they not a delivery service? Why won't they even try to deliver my packages? I am fed up with this poor service.

I mailed a 30 inch tube filled with a painting made by me to a friend in montreal (I'm in sasktachewan). When I went to the post office. I said how much to ship this to Montreal-provided the address and stressed its value and importance that it gets there safe and secure. I was not offered registered just given an amount and label to ship it. I asked the lady-this has a tracking number and everything? She said yes. Since I never ship with Canada post I assumed that they would require a signature etc... Apparently not-and me stressing the value and importance of its safe arrival wasn't enough to trigger for her to offer me registered shipping. (Partly my mistake but I usually ship UPS to the USA and they just tack it on there for me.) The shipping was to take 5 business days and was sent out on June 4th. According to the tracking number the parcel hit Montreal on Monday June 8th. Then on June 11 it said it was out on truck for delivery. When my friend didn't receive his parcel by Monday June 15-he checked the tracking number and was confused to see that it was allegedly delivered to him on Monday June 8th. The parcel was supposed to be delivered to his place of business-he can see his mailbox through his front entrance and personally waited on the mail every day since I had sent him the shipping tracking number. He never received this parcel and called Canada post. They told him I had to start a claim which I did. The lady I spoke with kept stressing how I should have bought shipping insurance to which I informed her it was never offered... not that it matters since I have to repaint the painting... I can't just go buy it from a store. She was quite rude and unhelpful, but informed me I would hear from someone by June 22 and if I don't' to call back. No call came to me or my friend so on June 22 I called them again and was told that they still had no news... they can't tell me anything about where they package was supposedly sent to and that someone would call me later that day as that's what it says on my claim number. No phone call claim. I did get an email that says they were sorry about my experience and that the expected resolution date was July 15. I was very upset to hear this as I had stressed the fragile nature of the tube with art work inside it. I still had no contact from Canada post nor did my friend until July 6th when they called him to ask him if he had seen photos of the art work that was sent-he told them of course. They said thank you and hung up. I was really excited to hear this news hoping that meant the painting was found. Only that very night I received an email from a Maureen stating that my parcel had been delivered according to the customer and my claim was now closed... I immediately called my friend and found out that he had still not recieved it. I then phoned Canada post again and spoke with a Tyler and expressed my anger and frustration. This is not a small envelop its a large tube-its not like it can just slip through a crack somewhere in one of the trucks. At this point they still can't even tell me what address they allegedly delivered the package to. There are not many buildings by his... he's checked with his neighboring businesses for accidental delivery and he's the only one in that particular city with his name... I even asked Tyler whether the mail carriers have to scan the tracking number before they put it in the box to which he claimed yes... so how was my mail scanned as delivered a full 3 days before it was even out on truck for delivery. How do they mark it as delivered off of the question have you seen photos of it? Why the shady late phone call asking about the art photos in the first place...Why can't they access what address was logged when it was delivered... There is definitely something shady going on here. They reopened the claim and are now still "searching" but at this point I'm starting to feel as though either they damaged it and tossed it or their mail carrier stole it and they're just trying to cover their ###... Its been over a month since I sent the painting and its still missing---no accountability or updates... they have only contacted the receiver once and have no information about the progress of the search... I just want my art found and delivered safely to the receiver or returned to me. I will NEVER ship anything CANADA post again and really feel that they need to be held accountable for the insecure handling of peoples mail/packages. This is my bad for trying to support Canadian Post economy instead of going FedEx or UPS

Unfortunately Canada post has been using third parties such as Greyhound to deliver parcels.
There is absolutely no postal security for these parcels that go through Greyhound Canada
there are also several other third parties that I have not been able to obtain the name of
be warned Canada post security is nonexistent as soon as your mail enters these third parties

We live in a condo complex and have an intercom phone number. For the last several times we have been home when deliveries were made, but we were not contacted that the post man had a package for us. Instead, in our mail box was a notification that we had to go to the post office to pick up the parcel. Is Canada Post no longer delivering packages to residents in condos even though all the post man has to do is dial our number on the intercom and we would gladly go pick them up from the post man? It is annoying to have to go to the post office to pick up these parcels and not until the next day! - Dr. Herman & Ardath Effa

I love how they will stop a letter and take the time out to return it asking for their penny or whatever amount it is yet people like yourself are sitting there waiting and waiting and they don't make any effort or very minimal to try to address the problem.

I bought a HTC mobile online and it was paid using Paypal. The item was shipped via Canada Post Xpresspost with a tracking number with a signature option. I regularly checked the tracking number provided and on one fine day it was updated that the item was delivered to me at 10.30 AM. I was in my work place and did not take it that seriously thinking that...

I am so sick and tired of Canada Post's "no answer" scam. Six times I have personally watched my letter carrier put a slip in the mailbox that states "no answer" . Not only is the slip already made up before he puts it in the box he makes absolutely no attempt to knock or ring the doorbell. I work at home and my office overlooks the mailbox and of course...

Canada Post Missed deliveries or just plain lazy?

Alright so the jist of this complaint is to reveal what smiths falls canada post office is really all about.

My fiance receives checks every week for him to get to school and also support himself while he is in school. These checks come straight from the ministry of finance in toronto. Since my fiance and i have moved from perth to smiths falls we have had problems left right and center from this ridiculous and pathetic company called canada post. We have waited days upon days for his money to get here, which by their "standards" should take up to 3 business days, not a week!
We still have yet to see three checks that went missing since last week. He has missed a week worth of school all because of this crap, if he misses a certain amount of days he does lose his school and funding.

We have made phone calls to the customer service but, no surprise, they don't give a rat's ### about anyone but themselves. All they say is that "those are our standards, we make no gurantees on that" or "there's nothing we can do" ### there's nothing they can do. They can actually get off their ### and do some dman work. They shouldn't have "standards" if they can not stick to them. We have even received a call from the supervisor of the smiths falls, ont. Canada post branch. This woman was so rude to not only my fiance but to myself as well, she hung up on him while he was in the middle of talking, she yelled into the phone while leaving a voicemail, she did not do a god damned thing about this issue.

We are getting pretty sick of having this happen time and time again, once or twice yes it can be seen as a mishap, but three or four times now.. No no no, that's an issue that needs to be investigated.
I mean, how can someone rely on this type of system?

Not to mention that it's not just his checks that have been late. My mother who lives about 20-30 mins away from me sent a jury notice via canada post to my address, which i did give to her correctly. That was back in sept. Of 09, it's now jan. 2010 and still nothing. We called just before christmas to see about the checks and the jury notice, the supervisor at this canada post office had the nerve to blame a letter mailed back in september on christmas and the christmas season. Last time i checked the calendar, christmas doesn't happen in september. I let the customer service know about how rude she was and how she pulled her little stunts on us to make herself look good.. And stupid... All they did.. Yea you guessed it again.. A big load of nothing! I hope someone from canada post actually reads this, if there is someone reading this from there.. Here's a little side note.. Kiss me ### and actually start doing something about all your mistakes! Yes, that does require actually moving and doing some work. It's a job not a god damned social! If nothing is done about this issue, the minister of finance will be the one making the phone calls to canada post instead of us. Let's see them try to suck ### then!

Total incompetance! The smaller the town the stupider they get!...and the more rude! I've never heard of such behaviour until I experienced it myself. Good for you for posting your story. Everyone needs to do this because Canada Post needs to take responsibility for their mistakes that are causing loss and distress on the public. I totally agree with your post...Canada Post needs to step up and take some accountability for their poor attitude and service.

Canada Post Missed deliveries?

Canada post has a standard on their website, stating that within province a letter send regular mail should arrive in 2 days. I can understand up to 4 maybe depending on varying factors. I rely on checks sent to me from MOF, as I am a student on a grant program, they come in the mail. I have been waiting 2 weeks now for one check that went "missing" and still waiting on this weeks checks, these checks are meant to supplement my living while in school, so I simply cannot get by without them, I dont live with my parents and I dont come from a rich family either, I make ends meet thats it.

Calling Canada Post gets me nowhere, they just say nothing we can do and blame it on holidays that havent even passed during the time these letters are sent out. They consistently blame it on the company sending it when the minister of finance prints, cuts and mails the SAME day every week. There have been other letters mysteriously vanish from the system with no explanation. Canada Post needs to get its act together, the untouchable government agency is eventually gonna get hit hard with all the people that have contentions with their service.

My fiancee was sent a letter from his family, a 1.5 hour drive away. They sent it on Sept 20th, 2009, we are now in to Jan 2010, almost Feb, it still has NOT arrived. I have received mail, damaged... opened, contents removed and placed back inside...poorly... which I though was against the law? Or just never receive it at all...

I have had to CALL companies to find out my bill amount for the month as my bills just never came! What is this! "we'll deliver it when we get around to it, lets just sit on our fat **ses and drink coffee all day" operation?

Canada Post head office will know who I am based on the nature of this complaint.. And you can ask me all you want, I REFUSE to take this down as it serves as a warning to others, and a revelation to your blatant disregard for your service quality, which is EXTREMELY lacking.

TO WHOM THIS MAY CONCERN

I am having some of my mail go to another address, which is my sons home. Somewhere down the way they have changed my address to his. It is the postoffice that is getting in touch with the sender and changing my address.

I would like to get in touch with someone at the head postoffice and rectify this situation.

My name is Isabel Boyle and my husband's name is Arthur Boyle,
our address is 85 - 15th Street, Roxboro Quebec H8Y 1N7.
My phone number is:- [protected].
My e-mail address is:- arthur.boyle@sympatico.ca

And my mail is going to Saint Zotique J0P 1Z0

I would like to speak to someone at the postoffice, or get a number that I can call. When I phone Roxboro postoffice they give me Pointe Claire and when I calll them they say they have nothing to do with Roxboro deliveries.

So please get in touch with me, I would really appreciated.

Canada Post Tipping apparently

Apparently some canada post employees expect a tip over the christmas period. When my mother (A senior) was too naive to pick up on the canada post lady's innuendos in the conversations when my mother was out walking she (My mother) got a cute little package in her mail box along with her mail jan. 04/10. It was a piece of styrofoam wrapped in christmas paper with a bow. Indicating a lump of coal and her displeasure from the canada post lady. When the canada post mail lady spoke to my mom previously on her walks she indicated how she liked working the neighborhood at this time of year as she would get a bottle of wine or chocolates. How outrageous. Canada post gets a good wage. My senior mother does not and would rather donate to the food bank. To be this petty and small is unbelievable.

Why not appreciate the gift of styrofoam that you have been so graciously provided with? Just think of all the fun and exciting things that you can do with it! : D

Really though, you're probably reading too much into it to think that the mail carrier was expecting a gift. I highly doubt that she expects a gift from everyone on her mail route, or that she gives a gift-wrapped block of styrofoam to everyone who doesn't give her something. Assuming your mother doesn't live in the middle of nowhere, the logistics of that seem pretty unlikely. Most likely, she either meant it as a cute joke for someone she was familiar with, or someone else put it in there.

Canada Post employees make as much as $25 to $35 an hour + fee from delivering unsolicited flyers + $3 from each customs parcel delivers to your house or office. Leaving the 'lump of coal' package was very rude, it should be reported to her supervisor, or to the Canada Post customer service toll free [protected]

Canada Post High postal rates

Are there ways to stop Canada Post from charging ridiculous postal rates? For a parcel less than 5g, I need to use the parcel weight cost, instead of the letter rates, just because the height is more than 2cm.

In addition, the rates are ridiculously high. Are there no ways to stop them from this? It is killing small businesses, espesically online business.

Which authority is best to approach for to highlight what Canada Post is doing to them?

Due to the highest postal rates, I was forced to abandon my on line book selling business. The rates changes to higher levels so frequently, it is impossible to keep up with the postage costs with other international sellers. Years ago, they had a book rate which was abolished in favor of better revenue for the post office. Now, when you take a package to the post office, in addition to weighing it they have to measure its length, width and thickness. Consumers lost millions of extra dollars for this way determining the cost, and the case is now in court. Another thing they do to beef up the profit is to added a fuel surcharge to the already high rate. You do all these, but there is no guarantee that the package is delivered (within Canada that is) within a reasonable time. Perhaps it is wise to abandon the Canada Post and look for alternative methods in shipping.
