Do not use this company. They ran my credit and I now have a HARD inquiry on my credit for 2 years. This isn't worth it. It is a scam. I never authorized them to run my credit and that is what they did. They ran my credit and now I have a hard inquiry on my credit for 2 years. This service is too overpopulated and I never received any calls. It wasn't worth my time or my money. I am completely upset and when I contacted them, they told me that they didn't run my credit. My credit report shows different. It maybe okay for people that don't care about their credit but to give you credit score to an agency and you don't get anything for it; NOT WORTH IT. They said that merely did it to check background. I have had a lot of jobs before and they never leave a hard inquiry on my credit. If you don't understand what a hard inquiry is; Ill explain. There are 2 types of inquiries: 1. A soft inquiry-This is where banks, employers, and if you check your credit. It doesn't hurt your credit score at all! 2. A hard inquiry does affect your credit score. It is where you get credit for credit cards and loans. It impacts your credit score for 2 years! STAY AWAY!

Hello-
My name is Mike, I work in Member Services at Care.com. I am sorry that you did not have the experience you hoped when using our website. I see that you are apprehensive about the background check that you performed on Care.com. We use a third-party company, Acxiom, to conduct our background checks (which is separate from a credit score). Are you looking at a disclosure from TransUnion? You may be concerned about your credit because TransUnion does not differentiate between employment and credit inquiries on consumer requested disclosures. Please be assured that an employment related inquiry does not impact your credit score.
If you would like speak wit us further, please send us an email to careteam[at]care.com.
Best,
Mike

MIKE,

Sadly you are VERY misinformed of the federal laws (FCRA) governing the credit bureaus and their mandated amendments regarding reports for employment. By law for a company to obtain an credt report for employment purposes from any of the 3 credit bureaus they must obtain a membership with a different account and industry code for such that will display as an inquiry that reveals the report was pulled only for emloyment purposes. This report is a different format and certain information is excluded. Additionally an employment report does NOT affect a credit score as a normal inquiry does. Again this is a federal law via the FCRA! and the compliance falls on the companies responsibility to inform the credit bureas their reason for permissable purpose to obtain anyones credit report .
If a company is practicing pulling reports for employment under an industry code that does not designate for employment puposes they are in direct violation of Federal Law.
It is a false statement to claim any of the 3 credit bureaus inclusive of Trans Union do not designate a difference in an employment report.

Sounds like Care.com's help team needs help and they may be pulling reports in an illegal manner.

AJ-
This is Mike from Care.com. Apologies for posting some repeat information, but I want to try to connect with you regarding your concerns. Please feel free to contact us and we will get some documentation to you to help clarify our background check process and FCRA compliance. Our Member Care team can be reached at [protected], M-F 10a-7p EST.
A Credit Monitoring Service obtains inquiry information from the credit bureaus. The Credit Monitoring Service may or may not obtain the type of information or the permissible purpose used by the requesting party. If the Credit Monitoring Service does not display the type of product or permissible purpose on the report delivered to the consumer, then it is likely that the Credit Monitoring Service is only recording that there was an inquiry, without regard as to whether it was employment or credit related. There is no impact to a consumer’s credit score if the permissible purpose was for employment - which is the purpose of a Care.com background check.
Best,
Mike

Mike,
Again you are INACURATE in your knowledge of the FCRA with respect to the laws that govern the credit bureaus and consumer reporting agencies. Any company that pulls a credit report falls under these two categories and MUST obey the federal laws via the FCRA that apply. A credit monitoring service is defined as a company that already has permissible purpose to view a subject’s credit report as they already have an account with the company. IE..they have a credit card with that bank, (account review), or a consumer gaining access to his own report. A 3rd party company that pulls a credit report is defined as a consumer reporting agency, and must abide in requesting permissible purpose for employment and pull the report as such. These consumer reporting agencies are members of the credit bureaus and in their contractual agreement with them they MUST assess the permissible purpose as employment, and have an account/industry code for employment as both MUST adhere to the FCRA! An industry code is the alpha/numerical code utilized for an inquiry or any account posted on the report, which has to reveal in the case of an inquiry if it is for employment purposes. This insures the provisions of the federal laws are met, as far as the information in the report, and protects the consumer from an inquiry that would negatively affect their score. If the 3rd party service does not comply with these regulations they are in Violation of their contractual agreement with the credit bureau, and the federal laws of the FCRA! Under NO circumstance can they "may or may not" (as you state) define permissible purpose for pulling a report. Simple they MUST it’s the Law!
I suggest you brush up on your reading of the FCRA, and focus on Care.com and its designation of employment credit reports to your 3rd party company.
As "Snowballz" mentioned originally in this complaint her inquiry was not designated as employment, and has affected her score.
Care.com and its 3rd party all must obey these laws!
Respectfully,
AJ

Sittercity is a scam, Babysitting jobs are false advertising, they lie and say they are matchmakers, but they are not, Parents dont even know you exist if you are not on the first page results. It sucks, save your money, before using them and protect yourself from Identity Theft. Complaints keep coming and coming from my friends. Do not use sittercity.
