I bought an alarm clock it is faulty and does not work
I tried to return it, and lost the receipt, it has all the bar codes on it and I spoke to the people that sold it to me, there is no question it is the same item.
The staff were rude to me, I returned the next day saying the items volume was not working
The barcodes cannot be removed so they no it's there item, they said they will not take back the item because they don't use the barcode.
Desired outcome: Refund
Customer #142520 $500.00 loan repayable over three months
I lodge this official complaint relating to an application for the smallest amount I have ever asked for which I was declined without any viable reason having paid $405.00 the day after I got a $300.00 pawn loan from the Papakura Branch then another $40.00 from the Otahuhu Branch both on my birthday of 13 November this month then another $264.18 last month on the 16th October again spent at the Papakura branch, loans totaling in the thousands of dollars have been approved and am infuriated at my treatment today.
Desired outcome: It is expected that my cashpass be loaded with the requested amount

Bad client service and breach of contract
On Monday 31 August 2020 I went to Cash Convertors of Maga Centre in Windhoek, Kleine Kuppe and found a Persian Carpet that I decided to buy, I however couldn't pay as the queue was to long and I needed to withdraw money and the store manager agreed to keep the carpet for me. I send my daughter the next day as agreed and she was told the carpet is gone. I went to the shop the next day and was told by the Manager that the carpet was taken by the owner of the shop for himself.
This carpet was in the shop fit quite sometime and only when the owner hears that I am buying the carpet did he take it to his house. I am of the opinion that the owner has no right to cancel the sale agreement between myself and his shop manager, hence I am seeking assistance to advice the owner to bring back the carpet so I can pay it and have it.
loans customer service
My father recently applied for a loan via the online services so he could attend his brothers funeral interstate approximately 12 hours away. It was approved at 9:50am on a Friday. We had to leave am on the Saturday. He rang customer service to find out when the loan would be in his bank & he was told it would be there at approx 2pm. 3 pm it still wasn't there. He spoke to a lady (& Imuse the term "lady" very loosely). She was extremely rude & told him it will be there when it gets there. My father is distraught over his brothers death & does not need to be spoken to in that kind of manner. He is a 76 year old man that has worked hard all of life & deserves respect! I am livid about this woman's tone towards him. If this money is not in the bank within the next few hours, the loan will be useless & he will miss his brothers funeral. Makes you think twice about dealing with cash converters.
pawn / loan
The owner of the Franchise in Parklands Cape town disclosed my dealings with cash converters publicly which is a clear breach of my privacy. Im not a minor but he has the audacity to approach a family memeber of mine to ask if she will buy my item back from the shop floor as well as disclose information of my current item thats I pawned a few days ago
unethical behaviour
I bought a pc desktop from cash converters. I brought the PC home and found the PC was of very low spec (spec not mentioned in the shop and the girl was pushing for the sale and would not help me to find the spec). i paid 129.99. I took the PC back as i took it home. I explained that the PC was not going to be good enough and was in fact lower spec than the laptop i was hoping to replace it with. They refused outright for the refund of the pc siting that it was company policy, i refused and demanded a refund after much reciprocated argument between myself and three members off staff they gave me a final choice of them buying it back or having a refund in the end i was forced to accept 100 pounds in cash and they kept 30 pounds back, to which i thought swas unfair as they had no right in which to just keep the money. The were many side ways looks between staff and frayed tempers. I asked how would you feel if you had spent 130 quid on something that was not going to be any good to you? That was met with rye smiles. I would like my 29.99 back they have no right to keep it. I have the receipt for the buy back..

Hello I am a victim here. What is going on? I cant belive all this mess and incompetance.
the humiliation I faced
Good day
My name is riedewaan smith.. I have never been humiliated as I was at cash convertas ottery cape town, I went into cash convertas ottery in september to apply for a one month loan, a young lady by the name of shihaam who assisted me, she explained to me that the loan is paid immediately and that we can draw the money at any atm, she failed to explain that other atms occur more bank charges and that we should go to the fnb atm where it is less, the monney was not in immediately and I was charged bank charges for trying to make withdrawals, I then left it like that, she also informed me the first time I get a r600 and the next time it will double to r1200, 00 as I will be tested to see how I pay back the one month loan, she also informed me I can apply for a three month loan aswell I said no its ok I will come again. I then went back the 15th of september to apply for the three month loan and I was assisted by shihaam, we then did the application and shihaam put down repayments dates the payment schedule as the 22/09/2017, 25/10/2017 and the 24/11/2017 after I told her several times I get paid the 25th of each month. The debit then went off the one month loan successfully and the debit she put for the 22/09/2017 bounced as I was not paid on the 22nd but the 25th. I then send a email to the branch which says the following.
My name is riedewaan smith with id [protected], I have two loans with you guys a 1 month loan and a 3 month loan, but you put the debit date the 22nd of september for the 3 month loan and 26th of september for the 1 month loan im 110% sure I told you the 26th as the 25th is a public holiday, now because of this I was charged unnecessary bank charges, shihaam please correct this...
My email was not rude or attacking. I then got a call from a person claiming he is the store manager on the 27th/09/2017 I got a call and a email from heinrich saying the following.
Your loan account was referred to us at head office. We apologize for the mix up with your debit order date for this month, and we will waive additional fees and interest due to this. Please confirm if you are able to make a payment this month still, or should we shift your 3 installments over oct, nov & dec? This will be for the original amounts you agreed to. If so, please confirm your december pay date, and we will reschedule your debit orders accordingly.
I replied by saying
Yes please shift my 3 installments to the 25 october, 25 november and 25 december. The bank charged me plus minus r200.00 for fees for the unpaid debit which has interfered with my budget so thank you for accommodating me and I hope this doesn't spoil or affect my profile with you. Thank you.
I then went to the store the 14/10/2017 to apply for the one month loan, I was a assisted by a trainee and shihaam was standing in the other booth as I was speaking to the trainee. Shihaam pressed her face into the booth saying "ja what did I say"I told shihaam you said if I pay my one month loan I can get double she then denied it and start speaking about my email I sent about the wrong debit dates, I then told her shihaam the dates was wrong I dont get paid o the 22nd but on the 25th, she said its just you that send emails "I tried to help you as my boss said I must not help you anymore"I was not rude I said this isi not a personal attack on you shihaam I was charged bank fees for that debit, so she was carrying on about the email I sent etc, she then told the trainee to hold on and not process the loan application a gentleman came back and introduced him as the store manager saying "yes why do I treat his staff like that (After I just asked about my debit dates that was put down wrong, he then says we going to try and handle it in a civilized manner he went in and came back saying"his boss ettienne says they must not help me and I must go to a other store after he did not even hear the story, I have never been so humiliated in my life as a customer after ettienne never even bothered to show his face and hear the story from the customer as well, I am a very good customer of cash convertas, shihaam has no customer skills she refused to help me saying she did me a favor to help me after her boss said she must not help me, im pushing business into cash convertas, please look into this you can contact me on [protected]. Thanks
Kind regards
poor customer service
I went in to the above named shop today to repurchase my phone which was on a buyback. After payment was taken, they only gave me my phone without my charger. When I asked for my charger, I was given a different charger to the one I handed in when I did the buyback. The manager known to me only as"V"then told me I did not give the charger to them. I told them I did and they then told me to wait. A few minutes later Dean, the floor manager, came out and gave me another one and abruptly told me that I never gave it to them, I again informed him that I did and an argument followed. I left the shop and went home, tried to charge the phone only to find out that it wasn't charging. I went back to the shop one staff member had it tested, and one of the new staff started to argue with me. Later Dean came out with another charger and said that this one works. He tested it and it was working. He then began arguing with me again. I left the shop.
One month earlier, I went into the same shop to take out a payday loan. I usually did this once a month. But on this occasion, the lady, Olga became extremely difficult with me. This resulted in me walking out without the loan.
I have been coming to this store since it opened and I have been a very good customer. For them to treat me in such a shoddy way and provide me with very poor customer service, is totally unacceptable.
Abuse of debit card transaction
Cash converters are at it again. They made an attempt to process a debit card transaction on 28/01/2015 but the transaction was declined. After I contacted the bank, it was established that there was sufficient funds to cover the amount to be taken, there were no blocks against cash converters to prevent the transaction. Instead, someone at cash converters head office had deliberately used the wrong code to process the transaction, knowing full well what the consequences would be. That is to say that the transaction would be declined and it would automatically look like I had defaulted on the agreement which would entitle them to claim a default charge and send a default notice to me. Once again the notice is invalid as it does not comply with the consumer credit act. I have once again put in a complaint and I have already paid the instalment amount which was due on 28 January, in cash and it was paid on 28 January 2015. I have told cash converters in my complaint that I am no longer authorising them to use my debit card for future transactions and will have my bank place a block against them. I have also told cash converters to investigate the matter further as part of my previous complaints.
UNFAIR DEBT COLLECTION PRACTICE/FAULTY DEFAULT NOTICE
I took out a personal loan top up on 17/12/14 and subsequently cancelled the method of payment, which was either by card transaction or direct debit order. I have not yet received a copy of my executed agreement for this top up loan. But I was well within my rights from previous agreements which I had with the company, to cancel the payment method as long as I told them and as long as I paid them on the due date by either cash or cleared cheque. I did inform the company and I went to the closest branch where I live and paid the instalment in cash on 31/12/14 which was the due date.
But before I even got a chance to actually make the payments, I had already received numerous missed phone calls on my mobile between 09:30 and 13:30 and also received numerous text messages throughout the day. The phone calls came from a withheld phone number. I made a complaint on 02 January 2015 about this but to date have had no reply to it. Instead I have now received an improper Default Notice which does not comply with the requirements of section 88 of the CCA 1974. I have written back to them today and am awaiting their reply. I have taken out top up loans from this company for more than a year and have never had this problem before.
Bad Attitude - Vernene Brits(Fraud Loan)
For full complaint check: http://hellopeter.com/cash-converters-southern-africa/complaints/*****-loan-on-my-name-1422896 I received a call this morning round 10:00am from Vernene Brits at Cash Converters Blackheath. She asked me why i ran to hello peter after all was resolved with regards to the Fraud Loan that was taken out on my name. All is not resolved, all she asked me to do was get a statement from Fairlands police station stating that i did not apply for a loan on the 29 March 2014 and she will then proceed with criminal charges against the responsible person. I don't see why i should go get a statement when Cash Converters Blackheath should proceed with criminal charges against the responsible person. I have proof that i was not in the Cash Converters Blackheath store on the 29 March 2014. I asked Vernene to check her camera footage in the store to confirm this. As speaking to her, the tone in her voice changed and she became rude and abrupt. She spoke to me as if i was a small child and she has no customer service skills at all. Vernene is rude and must be removed from your company as she is damaging your company name!

poor treatment from management and health and safety risk caused to my child
today i visited cash converters with my 4 child we picked out some games for the xbox and made our way to the tills while we were waiting for the guy serving us to get the discs my 2 year old daughter screamed she was in her pushchair she had touched a hot fluresent bulb which then fell on the floor as this had been on and it was now 4pm this was very hot and burnt her fingers i pointed it out to the guy serving us he said thats a new one on me another fella who also worked there came over and appologised then the assistant manager mel came over and shocked both me my kids and the 2 men who worked there she shouted in a very nasty manner telling me i should control my kid and not let her touch i pointed out surely this hot bulb should be covered with a cage seen as its at the height of children in pushchairs and i thought this would be in health and safety as this hot bulb has now hurt my child she told my daughter its her own fault at 2 years old i feel this person is a very bad representation of your company she turned and went out the back the two guys were looking as shocked as i felt then one said sorry and the other agreed it was a health and safety matter and she was wrong to blame my child on that i told the guy the £30 worth of games i was purchasing at the time he could keep as i wasnt paying a company thats treated myself and my children like that i feel she has a very poor attitude towards customers and then to find out she is an assistant manager did really shock me the 2 guys in the shop has more calmness and were curteous and seemed to actually care that my child had hurt herself

Aggressive behaviour
07/07/2012 - 14hoo - My wife and I went to Cash Converters Southlake Centurion, to buy a Amplifier and projector for our home. We looked around in the shop for these items. I stopped and show my wife a system for R79 000 that was standing in the middle of the shop. NO sign for "dont touch" were on the items. As I was showing my wife the items, out of the blue the manager by the name Ettienne, stood at the other side of the shop and start screaming out of the deepness of his throat---" leave it, leave it, dont touch it, I will throw you out, leave it, listen to me, leave it! All the clients and us stood their with shock, we could not believe the aggressive behaviour of this guy. I tried to explain to him, I was showing my wife the items, I am not breaking it. He came to me, stood almost on top of me, screaming, "DO YOU HAVE R9000, to give to me NOW, Give it NOW TO ME, I know you dont have it, I will throw you out now, I have "right of admission" to throw you out. Leave now!, this guy totally lost it, infront of the client and my wife. He humiliate us and let us feel like dogs. If we were not suppose to touch it, where is the sign and why did he not came and told us in a desent way. As we walked out of the shop, he still screamed at the top of his voice. We have been going to that shop on a monthly basis, buying items. I never in my whole life experience something like that., I have left a message on the owner mobile to call me back. (Allen - [protected]). This guy totally have a behaviour and aggressive problem. I will from now on tell people what happened there. I will also take it up with their Head office.

Faulty DS - awful service
I am having a major problem with Cash Converters in Liverpool.
I bought a Nintendo DS for £59.99 and had problems from day one, the contact with the screen was dreadful and it froze after an hours play.
I contacted the store and they asked me to come into the store which I did and I explained the problem to the Store Manager who took down my details and promised to call me back the next day which of course, he never.
I have just called them and spoke to the same manager who informed me that the problem with the contrast of the screen has been fixed...I pointed out that the contrast was fine as that was not the problem and I explained the fault again, he then said 'the technician had it for about two minutes and couldn't find a fault' I questioned how could he find a fault when he had it for only two minutes and thought the contrast was the fault to which the manager had no reply.
I then asked for a refund and he refused unless I could come in and prove that there was a fault.
What are my rights, what would be the best thing to do?
I am clearly not going to get anywhere by speaking to the store directly.

Simply terrible
I suffer from severe mental illness. I am actively trying to improve the quality of my life by attempting to run a very small business from my home. For this business (web design) to have any chance at all I needed a really capable computer and so I borrowed £220.00 pounds from my wife's dad in order to purchase a computer from " cash converters " Belfast. I went to them because they said they had a six month warranty on the computer that I wanted to buy, and had the paperwork to confirm. I bought the computer and it was driven home (seatbelted in the car) and set up in a very safe environment where no harm could possibly come to it. The computer caused me problem after problem until it finally crashed and I brought it back to them, fully expecting them to honour their warranty. I have been bullied and threatened and also told that I dropped or electric shocked my machine, all by one truly horrible manager who has a rubbish independant "engineer" on his payroll who makes out reports specifically to make sure that they do not honour their warranty. These things have happened over the phone and in person. The only two things that are not covered by their warranty of lies are " droppages and power surges" neither of these things where done by me. So now my mental illness is really so much worse because of them and They will not do what their own reciept and warranty says and I believe are a very crooked bunch of operaters.

.Shop sell stolen items and victim should pay them for it? This is not on.
Crazy shop and mad service!
I bought an Arcam Alpha 8 amplifier for £79.99 from KINGS HEATH, BIRMINGHAM branch, on JULY 15th 2014, and its volume dial was distorting the sound between speaker's! I could have taken it back--but I lost my temper instead and smashed the thing up with my axe! Suffice to say I do not trust secondhand hi-fi from these retailers, and with make do with alternative arrangments.
bad service
I bought a Note Book from cash converters and wasn’t impressed about it so I decided to return it back as it had a 3 month grantee. I was that I could not get my Money back and that the Note Book screen was not under grantee and as for the attitude of the staff it sucked big time .I am so disappointed in Cash Converts,
How do they train they staff to do business as the slip clearly states that
“Faulty goods returned within the guarantee period as specified on the invoice will be:
1) Repaired at Cash Converters cost, failing that
2) Replaced with an item of similar value, or failing that
3) The purchase price will be refunded”
So why cant I get what I want I mean I am not happy with the product
Why do I have to beg for what I am entitled to?
Please can I get an answer?

Bought a laptop last desember. Windows cert. Invalid. Do you still have the details.
i brought some virtual dj equipment so that i could make the change from vinyl to digital i got it home was excited to finally have it cause i paid the deposit and the rest when i went to buy it when i installed it all it came up saying protection error so i went on the support sites it told me too, so i did what they said to do by putting the serial number in on the site but it comes up already registered so i cannot do anything with it because in the lisence for the softwear ( cash converters should check this ) its only able to be installed on 2 computers and for it to be re-sold express permission has to be given by numark which they wouldnt have, i took it back to the shop yesterday and got there at 5, i looked at there website which said they shut at 5.30 and surprise surprise they were already locked up and all in the shop i had walked miles on the understanding they shut at half 5 i got told thru the door they shut at 5 every day for the last 2 years, if thats the case do u not think they should update there website ! i am about to go back down to take the ion ice back and tell them it was against the law for them to even sell it and make a complaint about the way they spoke to me when they shut early and also to make a complaint about having the wrong times on there website which an employee there told me were 2 years out of date !
I was a manager with Cash Converters for about four years, I can say that this complaint is just a customer who did not do their own homework on the product they bought. If the computer was wrapped up and was up and running, they should not have bought it, but instead waited until the 7 day waiting period was over and checked the computer over once it was running. that way this customer would not be out their money. However, as a former manager with cash converters, the store should have at the very least given a store credit for the amount paid or done a 80% buyback for the computer. The manager the customer spoke to, should have known that; the custormer is always right and to make them happy upon leaving the store. This is how I would have handled the issue; I would have offered the customer a store credit reciept for the amount paid and offer apologies for any inconvienances. Our goal at Cash Converters was and still is to provide quality products at a fair price, but since the items are used, there is always a chance of a problem with the items. We aim to always settle the issue without causing any customers to be dissatisfied with OUR company.
I put a computer on layaway at Cash Converters, that consist of a CD Rom Drive, and a Burner. Because the computer had just arrived, their policy is there is a 7 day wait, incase it was stolen. I put a $100.00 deposit, and waited for the 7 days, and went back to pay the balance. However, when the person brought the computer and put it on the counter, it was wrapped with so much tape, I did't notice anything. But after getting home and finally unwrapping it, I found it was not the computer that I had purchased. Immediately, they were telephoned, and I was told to bring the computer back. However, after bringing it back, and speaking with a so-called manager, the person who sold it to me, was no longer employed by them. They told me that the computer that they gave me was the one that was purchased. But the one that I purchased, was equipped with a Burner, besides a CD Rom Drive. They said it didn't. I asked for my money back, a replacement, or store credit, but they refused all three(3) request. The Better Business Bureau, was contacted but no satisfaction from them. My next option is to file a complaint in small's claim's court. So if anyone is planning to purchase anything from Cash Converters, think before you do so.
