When I tried to login to my online banking account, for the first time ever I was prompted to enter an access code. I was given two options: text message or phone call to one of two numbers. One number was my home phone and the other was my son's cell phone(go figure). I requested a phone call to my home phone. I made the request several times and never got a call with the verification code. I called several of their 800 numbers and was told I had a wait time of 30 - 60 minutes. This has really inconvenienced me and I am not happy with their customer service.
Desired outcome: fix my online access without the verification code requirement ASAP.
The bank fail to follow safe deposit box protocol when two own the box and one dies. they were brothers.
My father, John Allen Murphy and his brother, my uncle, Lawrence Melvin Murphy had a safe deposit box together at Citizens Bank. On February 7, 2011, my father told Citizens bank that his brother Lawrence died 12/2006 and my father wanted to add my name to replace my uncle's name as legal owner of the box once my father passed. They asked us to sign (Deputy Appointment). Once my father passed in 2014, the bank told me that the safe deposit box now belong to Lawrence melvin Murphy who died 12/2006. And that the deputy appointment was only good while my father was alive. The bank failed to follow PA State protocols by asking for proof of death of my uncle, take inventory of the box, protect my uncle's rights. Then they gave content of the box to a third pary five days after my father's death. Why is the bank telling me that my deceased uncle now owned the box?
Desired outcome: The bank cost me my inheritance of $245,000.
Checking account
Like many others my HSBC accounts were transferred to Citizens in February 2022. No provision was made for people who do not reside in the USA. After a complaint to CFPB I was told by a Ryan Davis in the Chairman's Office that I could close my account. I requested closure but this was not done. I was able to transfer some of the money to another bank but then the account was blocked, no reason given. Subsequent emails to the same address have been ignored.
Desired outcome: Close the account andsebd me a check as requested in my last email.
Customer service
This was the worst visit that I've had a Citizens bank in over 30 years as a customer. I went in to Citizens Bank at 8th and Walnut, at 11am to deposit check and also to get a 5-year statement for my mother's medicaid application. At the time there there three reps in their cubicles (one, Rep 1 was serving another customer). After telling Rep 2 the request, he responded they would be with me shortly. At the time the person helping me, who I assumed was new, received instruction and he went to the third person Rep 3 for help. As I observed Rep 2 was on his phone while the Rep 3 was on the computer. When Rep 1 asked Rep 2 to observe, he walked closer to the Rep3 and stayed on the phone. Rep 1 was not taking notes nor even observing what Reb 3 was doing.
The 3 then walked to the back and were standing around and I asked after half an hour if they were helping me. Rep 1 then said that Rep 2 had to clear it for me to get 5 years of statements. — if that's the case why didn't they just tell me rather than letting me sit and wait. Rep 2 definitely showed he didn't want to be there and was very incompetent for the position.
Desired outcome: Improve the customer service and care for the request.

I have experience an problematic interaction with one of your employees name Carlo A. On Saturday August 20th, customer service rep Carlo A. verbally expressed strong resistance to my request to speak to a supervisor, repeating more than twice that the supervisor will say the same thing. After much pleading he gave in and put me on hold to get supervisor.
A female who subsequently answered stated she is a supervisor and that Carlo A. told her that I reported to Carla of fraudulent activates on my account.
I said no such thing and requested a compliant to be filed immediately of a customer rep make false/inaccurate statement of a customer. This matter of communicate was via phone. The superstar stated she will file the complaint and someone from said department will be reaching out to me via phone within the next 48 hours. As of to date I have not been contacted.
Going forward I request this matte is looked into and met with some sort of remedy. In addition please remove the telephone transaction commutate so that I may do telephone business transaction whenever needed.
About 3:57pm today customer rep name Celi, (refused to provide last name initial) she could not provide any assistance, to question regarding the call I have yet to receive from the complaint department. She stated a number of times that she cannot provide any assistance. There lies a question in my mind as to the capability or lack there off the reps providing Simple customer service. Celi, stated she will not transfer me to a supervisor regarding my concern about the complaint that was filed last week.

I am having a problem where I have paid my credit card twice actually in error.
And I cannot believe it keeps declining for insufficient funds. I called the number on the card, waited an hour and spoke to someone who did not even know the fundamentals of a credit card. I had to explain to her once I paid off the credit card I should be able to use it. Besides the fact I actually have a credit on the card due to the fact I paid it twice. When I asked about that, she said that money in on hold. When I asked why is it on hold, I was told their system does that randomly for no reason.
Desired outcome: To allow me to use the credit card without declining when there is no reason to do so.

WORST Customer Service & Mortgage Dept Ever…. Loan officer & Processor are incompetant took 55 days for a HELOC to process & when my documents are submitted by day 30, They don’t have an answer for me for the next 25 days & they keep replying we don’t know what is delaying your process unfortunately. Overdraft fees for no good reason and lack of rebating all of them
I spoke to Citizens Bank earlier this week and despite the climb to speak to Tom the Supervisor I only got $70 of rebate which is supposed to be every month not once a year. I only been with Citizens Bank for almost 7 months, and I feel that I've been getting a runaround and being taken advantage of by Citizens Bank, and I felt this could've been more resolved if they just rebated almost $1,700 fees that I didn't even knew about b/c I thought I was getting overdraft protection, but I wasn't.
Because of my Disability I never understood that neither did my local bank branch and they agreed that I should've have this rebated to wipeout the mess but only $70 rebated once every year.
I want this to be a valuable lesson to those who with disabilities and feel that they financial goals are being guttered by info that wasn't explain clearly. Don't be afraid to speak up and get what rightfully belongs to you

I am an Attorney, who has represented Barbara H. Eberle of 23 Osetgatchie Road, Waterford, CT 06385 Social Security Last #2029 for over 40 years and on May 17, 2022 I filed a Connecticut Statutory Durable Power of Attorney with Lisa. I requested information needed to provide funds to keep Barbara in her home. To date, neither Lisa nor the Bank have requested certification pursuant to CT Statute I-305s, which failure deems that the Power of Attorney is valid.
Lisa demands to meet personally with Barbara who is 90 years old and basically informed her that the Power of Attorney was invalid. Barbara will not have the funds to keep her in the house around September 1, 2022.
Desired outcome: Please remove Lisa from the accounts and transfer Barbara Eberle's account to the Old Lyme Branch of Citizens Bank.

2/7: payment made $181.20.
2/10: 2nd payment was made again $181.20 for amount due on 3/11.
I asked credit card to reverse my 2nd payment back to checking account. Instead of reverse 1 payment, they did 2.
3/1: $181.20 went back to checking account
3/2: $181.20 went back to checking account
then 3/9: $181.20 was taken out of checking account went back to credit card.
However, credit card still posted on 2/28 to March statement due 3/11: REVERSE PAYMENT to amount due in March for $181.20 which already taken out of checking account and went back to credit card on 3/9. I paid for all purchases of the month in full but this amount was kept added to total amount due every month and I was charged for interest. I kept calling many times in March, and they kept saying their records are correct. I even sent my checking statement to show them the transactions of 2 payments made on 2/7 & 2/10, 2 reversals 3/1 & 3/2 and 1 debit on my checking account for $181.20 on 3/9 but still the $181.20 is keep showing on amount due month after month after month. This issue has been since Feb until now. Credit card did it wrong to begin with and now the customer has to pay for it?
False reading on an atm that cause me to be charged double
On 5/12/2022 I was attempting to withdraw $130.00 from an ATM located at the Giant Food store in Alden PA. When I observe the green light came on and my card was returned. ATM began to make a noise like it was going to dispense the money but never did (slot opening never opened up). At this time the Screen indicated to me that there was a problem with the dispensing of money and the transaction was canceled. Knowing that there was an addition ATM at this location I proceeded to the other machine wear I was able to obtain $130.00 in cash. Later I checked my balance via the telephone it indicated that there were two withdrawals the same day for the same amount. when I only got $130.00 one time.

Mortgage department
We have been trying to resolve an issue with Citizens for over three months. We call the main number, give all of our information, get referred to another department and have to do the whole thing over again. We have been transferred to customer service, collections, mortgages, loss mitigation, refinancing….no one can resolve the issue and they just keep passing it off to another person or department. We have been assigned to a person named Sherlita Fox that we have been trying to communicate with for months and we end up speaking with India instead. All we are trying to do is pay our mortgage and we cannot speak to a competent human at Citizens to make that happen.
Desired outcome: To have a conversation with a supervisor that can make a decision to help us pay our loan
Seems that Citizens bank has representatives who don't know how to or can't correct a simple problem. We have been making payments on time as agreed upon and Citizens is adding additional money on without any explanation. Numerous calls to Citizens loss mitigation dept. and they can't answer what the additional money is being added on to my mortgage. I am told it is going to be corrected and to call back the following week, this happens each time I call. Meanwhile I am receiving threatening letters of default and foreclosure. I filed a formal complaint with the state banking authority. How many others are being taken advantage of? Is there a class action against Citizens bank?
We HAVE been paying our mortgage and they keep returning it to the bank. We've paid on time for 15 years with 8.5% interest now they want 30k all at once. Who has that sitting around. For 15 years we only paid 8k towards the loan. After 180 months (15 years) we have given them 54K! The loan was only 38k total! Sooo...then they tell us to just make the payment, so we do...again, on time and it gets sent back to our bank. We keep getting letters saying to pay the monthly payment, they are sending late payments to the credit bureau. You can't talk to anybody who knows anything. They are in India or something. This has been going on since December (7 months now). Do they think we can't prove they are not taking our payments? We have bank statements showing they send our payments back. We've called them no less than 20 times to try and get this straightened out to no avail. Well, we have held onto each and every letter they have sent to us, printed out our bank statements that show when we paid the bill and when they returned it. In the end...a 38k loan, already paid them 54k in 15 years and they still want 30k. Makes sense to me! Nope!

Since November 2021, I've been dealing with a very similar situation regarding a very small balance secondary mortgage loan; the same situation which was resolved in 1 month by Chase Bank (very helpful) which services the much larger primary mortgage. Citizens is borderline criminal in the way they have treated & dealt with me and it sounds like with you as well. I plan on filing formal complaints with the appropriate regulatory organizations soon. Good luck to you.

I am a builder in Southern New Jersey. Our client used Citizens Bank for their construction loan. Their draw process is terrible. Every draw request required multiple phone calls and took weeks for Citizen's Bank to disburse funds. It has now been over a month since we requested our final draw. We lived up to our end of the bargain, our customers are living in their new home, everyone at the Citizens Bank gets their paycheck, but we, that made all possible, are treated like a 3rd class citizens. The bank has processes and procedures that they impose that has nothing to do with the builder. We have built over 200 homes and never had to file a mechanic's lien. I suppose there is a first time for everything.
