Closets by Design Unethical practices and elder abuse with hidden fees and unnecessary designs

A Closet By Design customer, aged 70, called me to demo her existing closet. When I arrived at her house, she showed me the plans for her new closet and laundry room, the cost of which amounted to $6,000.00. CBD required a 50% deposit (against CA law), which she paid. CBD was also going to charge her an additional $300 for removing her existing closet. When I looked at her closet, the one I was going to demo, I discovered that simple modifications could provide the extra space she needed. The CBD designer told this customer that the existing clothes rods could not be moved, which was an outright lie. CBD designed a new closet, almost identical to what she had but with the rods lowered, which was her primary concern. An honest company would have told her a new closet unit was not required. I ended up modifying her closet by lowering the clothes rods for better reach, and removing several shelves and a drawer to create more space for clothes. I also repositioned other shelves and added several new ones. The labor and materials cost her only $405.00, $105 more than the demo was going to cost. Additionally, CBD designed a unit for her laundry room which reduced her access to an exterior door to 22 inches, which is against the fire code. She canceled the contract on the 6th day and CBD has refused to refund her deposit because she canceled a day late, in spite of the issues noted above. When she told their manager, Jose, that I was going to post unfavorable reviews, he stated that he could harm my business more than I could damage their business. These people are bullies. This is a clear case of elder abuse, in addition to their unlawful request for more than a 10% deposit, the design of a new unit that was not needed, and a laundry room unit that would be a fire safety risk. They had an opportunity to do the right thing by returning her money, but they have so far failed. By all means, stay clear of this company. They are not good people and they are unethical, taking advantage of older people.

Closets by Design Horrible Customer Service/Instalation

The salesman was a dream! Absolutely wonderful. After that the install came shortly a month afterwards. The Gentleman shows up blocking the driveway eating their lunch. Fried chicken to be exact, so I went outside to ask them to move the truck... but anyway I invited them in signed the remaining balance form for withdrawal & went back to work (which is @home & left them alone). I came back a couple times to ask if they needed anything then the gentleman asked for my signature on another form. This was for the liability for my washer & dryer which I found out why he was acting so nervous is because they deeply scratched my washer! After they left & I was done working I looked @ the installation & the one countertop is poorly installed; there was also a shelf missing in the order, so they came back the next day with the shelf. I showed the kids that dropped off the shelf & they had nothing to say. I emailed & had a Carlos (manager of the installers) call me. I explained everything I just typed, & his words were "it's the wall & he's been doing this a long time"! I then said Well we have nothing else to discuss & I hung up. The phone call was recorded as I have that also. Very poor CS & Installation.

Recommendation: Ask for a License # from your installers!.

Closets by Design Company service

I probably should have read the reviews before I purchased a system!

This is for CBD in Lindenhurst, NY (long Island)

The young salesman who showed up at my home was a nice kid, Army veteran but really didn't know anything, I had to make multiple changes to his designs that basically made no sense and these were very easy systems I was looking to have installed. As an American, I felt compelled to purchase from him because of hi service but what a mistake! After I made the purchase, he disappeared, I had no way of getting in touch with him. When I did receive contact from the installation department, I was dealing with Heather Cavalier who was pretty good to deal with. Made some corrections/adjustments that made sense and was for the most part responsive. Then came install day! I was told it was a 6 hour installation and they would arrive between 11am &12:30pm. At 12pm, the installer called to say he would be there by 1:30pm. It was a Friday and had plans that evening, he told me it should only take 4 hours so I said no problem. at 2:40pm, while pre-occupied, I realized no-one showed. I called the office, they had no idea and thought he was here already. They were somewhat responsive but after a call or two was told they would NOT be showing up but instead arrive a week later. At this point, I made sure my closets were emptied, painted and ready to go so 3 closets were all over my house. I said unacceptable. Somehow or other they agreed to send someone the next morning at 8:30am. Even thought I didn't want to give up my Saturday morning I agreed. at 7:45am, while still in bed, my doorbell rang. The installer arrived. Never apologized for screwing me on Friday or showing up early, he asked to show him the clients. As I di, and he was measuring, I asked a simple question about where I needed to trim off one of the moldings that I was unsure of, he was rude, treated me like a 12 year old and then proceeded to walk out because I had an "Attitude". Horrible experience. I called a service, never heard back from anyone until Monday. They couldn't schedule anyone until Tuesday. I asked for a different installer, they agreed and another guy showed up and did a great job. BUT for the value/cost, I would suggest shopping elsewhere or just do it yourself. Closets were not worth $3,500 at all, but that was on me!

I have not heard back from owner, manager or anyone since the installation and I doubt I ever will. As per the 2nd installer, they are selling these closets like candy so they re making a ton of money and can buy these systems anywhere for probably less!

Desired outcome: Closets done but not impressed and never got an apology!

Closets by Design Walk in closet/difficulty reaching a manager

Dear Client Issues Department,

I am writing to express my frustration and disappointment with customer service, where I have tried several (approx 20 to 30) attempts to reach a manager to make a small design change for my walk-in closet within the grace period of my contract. I placed the order on May 6th with your company, and installation is scheduled for July 13th.

Less than 3 days after signing the contract, I wanted to make a small design change and I was notified by Kiana (Closet Designer) that I should call customer service to request the change. However, despite my repeated attempts, I have been unable to get through to any of the managers to discuss the design changes which I would like to make. Some days, I have attempted multiple calls in order to get hold of a manager, but every time I get a response "Manager is in training, and they will reach out to me by end of the day". That end of the day has not come for last 32 days. None of the managers have tried to call me.

Over the past 4 weeks, I have been very patient and respectful and tried to follow the correct process. This seems like Closet by Design doesn't care for their customers, and this has been one of the worst experiences I ever had with the company.

I would very much appreciate it if you could ensure that someone reaches out to me promptly so my concerns can be addressed before the installation date. I hope that we can work together to resolve this issue amicably. Otherwise, It feels like Closet by design is a fraud company who is trying to steal people's hard earned money.

Customer Number: 96943

Phone number: [protected]

Thank you for your attention in advance.

Nav Sandhu

Desired outcome: I would like to get a design change

Closets by Design Office design for our home office to be executed by closets by design

My wife and I were looking to start and complete a design for a Home office custom office configuration, and we met with a Design Consultant for Closets By Design where we agreed upon 2 tentative designs for the office.

We provided a deposit as well to the Representative that day who came out to initialize our invoice and from there our Job was put into a "Pending" state with the direction that once we did some removal of some items we had in the space we would be ready to proceed. We then completed our piece of getting the spaces in the office ready for installation and when we called Closets By Design to schedule execution Installation department routed me to 2 different departments to schedule our job. Additionally, I was told that before they could schedule anything else I would need to submit another deposit for the job just to get on the schedule. This disturbed me as I was paying just to get on schedule when they already had my deposit to start the job in the beginning, and this struck me to be a very "Bush League" operation.

Moving forward, I said "OK" but we may have some couple few changes we would like to have the designer look at prior to getting started and the answer I was given next completely BLEW ME AWAY. I was told that "your designer is out on Maternity leave and is currently unavailable". I paused waiting to hear something to the effect of "but we have Person A,B, or C who will be available to help you". That never happened and I was basically told that this was her account and that "She would be back in 2 weeks". I'm furious at this point as I wasn't able to get my Install underway nor was there anyone who was going to handle my job in her place. I was even asked that if would/could hold until she returned. I was knocked off my feet.

Management was involved and NEVER RECEIVED a call from them on ANY OF THE 6 calls we were put in to speak with them. We were always given the runaround, and there was ABSOLUTLEY NO PROFESSIONALISM or pride in doing the job or satisfaction to the Customer. They essentially lied to us over and over again with no intention of reconciling our Money, Time, or our pending order. They are a duplicitous organization who from what I've experienced and read DO NOT HOLD UP their end of the agreements.

Customer Satisfaction is not a concern and I urge you to STAY AWAY and find a more reputable company to work with because it will be painful either in the beginning, middle, or end.

Desired outcome: We do not want to have ANYTHING further to do with Closets By Design. They're

Closets by Design Unable to stop catalog mailings

For months, I have received catalogs in the mail from Closets By Design at random. I have never ordered anything from Closets By Design. I have since called them multiple times to stop the mailings. The representative I speak with sends a message to corporate to stop the mailings. This happens each time I call. However, the mailings have continued. The last representative I spoke with said that there's no way to stop the mailings.

Desired outcome: I would like the catalog mailings to stop.

Closets by Design Wall to Wall, Floor to Ceiling shelving units

I am writing this as a very unsatified customer. I had a job done a few months ago and the installer was sent without all the panels he needed. He left to get the panel needed, It took 4 hours before he came back with it. He was here for 14 hours doing a very small closet and a craft L shaped unit. I thought this would be a one time screw up. But I was wrong.

I later decided to have wall to wall shelves put in my bedroom and my daughter"s. I figured I would give your company another chance. A BIG MISTAKE. These 2 units were to be done on the same day. But that didn't happen.

First the rep that measured did it wrong, I ended up with 8" having to be cut off 2 shelves, and my 8 cubbie holes that were supposed to be 12X12 had to be 10X10. The installers for that job were awesome. They knew how to fix the measuring mistakes and my shelves look great.

Then they inform me that a panel for my daughter's room was missing but they assured me that the panel would be in the very next day. NO IT WASN'T I had to call everyday for a week to finaYl find out that it was in and could be installed.

The installers came and that was even a bigger joke. (not laughing) They first off pulled one of the electric boxes out of the wall and just wrapped the wires up and stuck them back into the wall, no connecting or taping the wires. This then resulting in no electricity in my daughter's room or her bathroom. The one guy called a friend of his on how to get the power back and finally after an hour of confusion the power is back in my duaghter's room, but I don't trust their inept electrical knowledge so I have to call an electrician to make sure my house won't burn down.

Once again the measurments were wrong, but these guys had no idea how to fix the sizing mistake so they just through the panel up hiding a mural on my daughter's wall that means a lot to her.

The installers just left leaving me worried about the electrical wires and found out that they broke one of the panels. So once again I have to wait for another panel to come in so the job can be finished.

Not to mention the fact that I had to call EVERYDAY to find out where my shelves were, when they would be installed. Each time I only received the run around and was told each time "We should have everything for you tomorrow" but when tomorrow came nothing was right.

I can gaurantee I will never use your company again.

Bev Abadji

Desired outcome: I want a discount taken off for all the mistakes that were made and reimbursed for an electrician to check on that outlet. I paid my balance in full in good faith I was not given the service and quality of workmanship that I paid for.

Update by Bev Abadji
Oct 25, 2022 12:35 pm EDT

I contracted for this job on 7/25/2022 to have 2 wall to wall, ceiling to floor bookcases installed in 2 of my bedrooms. I was given an install date of 10/07/2022.

On 7/25/2022 I paid half the contract as requested. On 10/07/2022 they came to install the shelving units as described in the contract.

However, when they arrived noting was right. To begin with they were missing one panel to complete one of the rooms shelving units. I was told it would be in the next day.

I called the office and told them I would not pay the balance of the 2nd room until all the panels were in and it was being installed, but I would pay for the one they were working on that day. They gave me the total due on the first unit and the installers started to work on the one unit that they had all the parts for. They ran into a measuring problem. The Rep who measured for the unit was off by 8 inches side to side and 8 inches for the set of 8 cubbies I had installed under my tv. So, my shelves are 8 inches shorter, and my cubbies had to be 10 x 10 instead of the 12 x 12 I was to have. But when all was done the installer had done a wonder job.

I was expecting the other room to be done the next day. I kept calling 3 times a day to see when this room could be done. Every call was “it should be in tomorrow.” After about a week of this excuse and getting more and more upset, I finally called and was told that the panel was in, and they would be there the next day. This was a week later.

The installers didn’t arrive until 5:00 the next day. I paid them the balance so they would start working on the unit. Part way through they let me know there was another measuring problem in the 2nd room.

This was a different crew and pardon my attitude, but they were Bozos. Had no idea what they were doing. To start they said they needed to take off a power plate so the unit would sit flush with the wall. I said they could take off the PLATE. But the installer went TOO FAR, He pulled out the whole power plug, and when I say PULLED that is what I mean. He broke the wires that were connected to the power block. (I have pictures of the power block where you can see where he yanked the wires right out of the wall)

He didn’t tell me at first. But later he said he needed some light in the room. I told him there was an overhead light in the room that the switch was by the door. He said the light wasn’t working.

I checked my breaker, and it wouldn’t stay on. I told him about it, to let him know he did something to the power in that room.

That is when I found out that he took the wires he pulled off the power unit and just pushed them back into the wall. This caused a power outage in that room. He did not tape or cap off the wires. Just rolled the wires up and shoved them back into the hole in the wall.

They continued from there to put up the unit. Thank goodness my breaker box did its job, or my house could have gone up in flames from their stupidity.

One of the installers then called a “friend, not an electrician” and asked what to do since he knew he had done “something wrong” because of no power in the room. His friend told him to tape up like color wires and the power should go back on. He did that but did not use electrical wire, he used scotch tape to tape the wires. It did put power back in the room, but at a costly mistake.

To get to the wires that needed to be taped, he had to take off a panel where the hole was he had made. Yes, he had put up the panel over the live wires in the wall. When he did this, he broke that panel, of course it was the one that was hard to get. big hole in the wall.

Then he realized he had to get another board. So that was another fight for another 3 or 4 days to get a replacement panel.

The next day after he pulled the wires out of the wall, I had to call an electrician to come and fix the mess the installers left with my wires. I have contacted the company many times to ask for a refund of the $313 that it cost to get the electrician here and to repair the mess. But I am getting no replies.

I have now paid in full for a half done and very stressful job.

Closets by Design Cabinet Install

A set of cabinets was installed over my washer and dryer. The cabinets do not clear the washer, so every time I open the top loading washer, it hits the cabinets.

After 4 months of not returning calls (and other stall tactics), his answer is that their design was correct, and it’s not their problem.

I have made a decision to NOT let this go. This post is only the beginning.

Desired outcome: Refund

Closets by Design I only want a refund of my $200.00

I had a salesperson come to my property for a closet plan and paid a deposit of $200.00 on Feb. 23,2022 but then decided against the work. I attempted to cancel this order by E-Mailing their cancelation form but didn't hear from them. I re-sent this cancelation, again by E-Mail, still no response.

I also called their office 10 times, each time being told that a "supervisor" would call me but they never did. I even told them that I would be open to doing this closet plan in a different property but never got a reply about that either.

At this point I just want my deposit back.

Closets by Design Closet

Closet by design has been a nightmare to work with since we set a date for installation. The first date for Installation was on Dec.20th with a call on Friday with a time of installation. Come Friday we got no call. We called to see a time and they said they will let us know. I took the day off to be there and no one was showing up. I called again, only to be told that they rescheduled me for Dec. 22nd and will call with a time. So of course, come the day before and nothing. It took me to call and get the time before their closing time. Day of installation the installer was 30mins later then the window time. Came in measured and said he could not start until we paid the balance. Which I did not feel comfortable with since I have been remodeling this house it has always been half up front and the other half when finish. After a phone call and a back and forth, I paid it and he started the job. He finishes grabbed his stuff. Told me that the hamper baskets were the wrong size and would have them delivered. I said OK and went to go look at the work. I went to tell the worker all the problems and he was gone. I then called them and let them know what was going on and was told that they would call me the following day. Received no call and then it was Christmas. The next week after many calls with Anthony a supervisor, we were told he would speak to Mike and see what he could do about fixing it. Again, it took me to call, and we got a date for January 7th. We ended up getting covid and felt it was unsafe for them to enter our house, so we cancelled on the 5th. The following week we called to rescheduled and yet again it took 2 weeks to get a date of Feb.7th. Took time off work and no one showed up. Since then, I cannot get in contact with anyone. The hamper door doesn't open, both doors have dents, side wall is chipped, rods need filed down, nobs have cocking to cover mistakes, top has gaps and still no hamper baskets. This is what $2199 and two days off will get you.

Desired outcome: Problem fix and money back

Closets by Design Cabinets

Closet by design turned the customer-is-always-right policy into the customer is always wrong, and when we, closet by design, wrong a customer, we should get into the offense and treat them with arrogance, total disrespect, and negligence.

To make a long story short, two months following my order, they called me to confirm that the installers would be at my place between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm. The installers showed up at 2:30 pm, no big deal; they had no mask on and claimed they didn't need one because they are vaccinated; upon my insistence, they accepted to wear a mask and asked me to provide them with one, no big deal!

When they started installing the doors, they realized that the latter were short. I called closet by design and the receptionist told me: "The designer designed the doors, and the doors are short." And I responded: "No kidding! I didn't know that the designer designed the doors, and the doors were short." And she responded, "Are you being sarcastic?" And I responded, "You bet I am. I thought it was the plumber who designed the doors." That was when she accused me of being rude, which BTW has become a common defense strategy used by customer agents when they have no valid excuse for their incompetence and inefficiency. She then transferred me to the manager, a real piece of work by the name of Jen, you know the type not only incompetent but also arrogant and disrespectful. "We're gonna have to place another order, " she said. I responded: "Do I have to wait for another two months? This is totally unacceptable, etc." This is when the situation started escalating and, out of the blue, she accused me of taking it on the installers. And when I asked her: "How so? Can you tell me exactly how I mistreated the installers?" And since she couldn't answer my question, she said: "I withdraw what I said." So I told her: "So you're a liar, right?" And once again, I found myself back into the you're-being-rude square. We had an argument and she started talking over me with such an arrogant tone. Back and forth, the reader can picture what happened, she hung up on me.

The next morning, I received an e-mail from No-Closet by No-Design confirming another installation day. Few hours later, I received a phone call, I believe from that same degenerate Jen who told me that they cancelled the order.

I am not going to recommend not doing business with this company because it's always a matter of luck, I had my bookshelves installed by them years ago and everything went smoothly, but my advice is when you want to start a project, stay away from Jen, she is the so-called designer who took the wrong measurements and has no clue what she's doing, and when you have a problem, avoid talking to the other Jen, who, I repeat, is a real piece of work.

Good luck with your project with No-Closet by No-Design!

Closets by Design Service

Lucy was her name. Rude and unprofessional, reflect poorly on the company as a whole.

Date is September 27, 2021.

She sent a few angry text message when I didn't get back to her for a week.

Frankly, it was 2 closets. It wasn't even close to the top of my list of things to get back to urgently. If she was nicer and more patient, I may have.

Closets by Design Kept Deposit and NEVER installed product, and won't return calls.

On 3-30-21, I met with Designer Tamara Hatefi of Closets by Design from the Whittier, CA office (CLIENT # 168400). A deposit of $1, 673 was provided. A second deposit on final design and measurements was provided for $1, 673 on 4-7-21. To date, I have provided $3, 346 in payments. On April 9, 2021, I received a telephone call from Design Manager Jose Arcinega that the design and measurements made by the original designer, Tamara (who all of a sudden does not work at the company any longer), would not work, and changes were needed. The changes were approved on 4-10-21 via email and an installation date was set for 5-17-21. On 5-17-21, two installers fro Closets by Design arrived and stated the changes made by Design Manager Jose Acricega would not work, and they would be unable to complete the installation as agreed upon. I made several calls, and left several messages for the Design Manager Arcinega, and as of 6-1-21, all calls and email attempts have gone unanswered! I called and spoke to the receptionist, Maggie, to request the owner and/or General Manager's name and she REFUSED to provide the names. Maggie told me to send an email asking for a full refund, which I completed and sent on 5-27-21. There has been ZERO response. I would very much like my full $3, 346 back. Thank you.

Desired outcome: Full Refund of $3,346

Closets by Design Unacceptable closet installation

In response to Closet by Design of Orlando, I want to make the necessary reservations and observations so that I can fully demonstrate how this company has no interest in solving the problem caused by the low quality that they are offering to its customers, also I would like to denote the sheer lack of professionalism in this company. This company does not have an ethical, responsible or respectful attitude towards its customers; it is not selling the quality that it promises.

Closet by Design of Orlando, states in its response to Better Business Bureau (Orlando) that they are happy to contact me to try again to resolve the unacceptable installation carried out by the company's professionals. This is just a cliché, as they never really volunteered to solve my problem! It is foolish to have to hear from them that they have already tried to find a solution to the problem that they themselves created due to incompetence and lack of respect toward their customers.
To state that I am unable to identify what exactly does not correspond between the agreed projects and what is currently built in my home is to try to transfer the burden of responsibility over to me. In the photos and videos attached the anti-professionalism and slop job carried out in the installation were proven. It is absurd to say that I did not like the sliding doors that I chose, when the problem is not in the door model, but in the bad installation done by the company professionals. Mentioning that Closet by Design of Orlando, offered to replace the doors, this is a bad joke, as they want to offer other doors, but wanting me to pay for the measurement and installation error of these doors that are already paid, it would be much easy for the victimizer to make a mistake and force the victim still to have to pay for his action. It is total nonsense! This only makes me believe in the company's fairness and lack of consideration for its customers. From what I have already researched, it became very clear to me the standard used by this company, whenever they are targets of complaints, they try to evade their responsibilities. They emphasize only those who have been fortunate enough to have the facilities successful, but they do not mention the expressive number of people unhappy with their services.
How will I pay for this company's mistake? I have already paid the full amount of the project and installation! To have a better idea of their slop job, the size of the cabinet opening is approximately 34 3/4" high, while the height of the closet slide doors is just over 32 ¼", does that justify my having to pay more money to get incorrect measurements and unacceptable installation of bathroom cabinets? Would it be fair for me to have to pay for a service that they didn't even know how to measure the size of the doors properly and in the installation they did this horrible and poorly service? The company stated that for them it would not be fair to incur additional costs when they built exactly what was planned and agreed, this is a scam and the photos and videos prove my arguments. Now Closet by Design of Orlando wants the extra costs to be paid by me, I cannot believe in such a lack of ethics and disrespect for myself and other customers.
Attached, you found photos and videos of the problems with the installation of the bathroom cabinet. I'm sure they agreed, after reviewing the attached materials, that it is clearly unacceptable. As you can see in the photos and videos:

• There are large gaps visible between the drawers due to improper assembly or improper assembly;
• There is an unfinished edge / scratch on the workbench that is inconsistent with the quality of the promised work;
• The upper sliders are clearly smaller in relation to the opening, leaving large openings on all sides of the doors;
• The entire cabinet is not levered and installed at an angle;
• The upper doors are not parallel and leave a large gap seen from the side.
I am sure that this is not the type of work that you would accept in your home and does not represent the quality that the company promises to deliver to its customers.
Since Closet by Design wants me to have to show exactly what is different from the drawings, the photos and videos speak for themselves. They are still sarcastic when they say, "If that were the case." I never saw such absurdity!
Closet by Design now claims that I am trying to hinder resolution with countless accusations (on social media), including representatives lying to me, laughing in my face (on the phone), doing a very sloppy job, etc. It all happened! I am not a liar, unlike you who do not comply with what you are selling. I believe that this is very little, you shouldn't even be working in the closet market, it is a shame that a company that advertises, talks, sells and in the end, delivers such a sloppy job and poor quality such as my closet. And if I am posting all of this on social networks, it is so that future customers do not experience what I am experiencing with you, this is called an act of citizenship. But I don't think you should know the meaning of this word, do you?
You like to put yourself in the role of victims, but of victims you have nothing. It is unacceptable what you say, saying: "We want to help the client in the best possible way, but if we do not reach a specific agreement on the real concerns she has, I am not sure how we can help." You know very well how to reach an agreement; I do not want anything that is not mine, just the guarantee of my rights as a customer. You should put your hand on your conscience, if you have one, and ensure a correct and quality installation, the quality that you promise to deliver.
The accusation you mention in your reply is frivolous and disproportionate to the truth: "Remember that we have also suffered two insufficient funds checks with this client so far." You forgot to say that the total value of the closet is already paid, and that this lack of funds mentioned by you was because I withdrew the check for you to get this slop job done by your company, I never refused to pay my debts or obligations, unlike you who do not fulfill what you sell or disclose, not to mention that I paid 50% in advance and the other 50% was withdrawn from my bank account without my authorization. It is worth mentioning, that you made an unauthorized (fraudulent) charge on my debit card, when I withdrew the check to solve this unacceptable problem. Even so, you went there and withdrew money from my account without my authorization and without solving my problem. It is foolish to say that I did not intend to pay for the project in full, I only held up the check to comply with the agreed. Something that has not been done until now.
Finally, I am not happy with the response from Closet by Design of Orlando, I feel that they are trying to make themselves victims, something that they are not, the victim here is me, deceived by Closet by Design of Orlando, this company likes to manipulate the situation they create themselves. This company sold me illusion to the contrary of quality; I paid fully for the services that were not professionally delivered, a totally sloppy job, without the quality that they promise.
I hope that now with the photos and videos, we can solve this quickly and in a friendly way. Feel free to call me to discuss how you intend to solve these problems. I look forward to hearing from you to schedule an appointment to resolve these installation issues as soon as possible.

Desired outcome: I look forward to hearing from you to set up a time to resolve these installation issues ASAP.

Closets by Design Terrible Service and Communication

We ordered cabinets months ago, only to have the installers show up without all the parts, including the doors. Why would a company send out installers without everything they were contracted to install? The salesperson feigned ignorance and the follow-up person called to reschedule- why would we do that if you can't seem to get the product? So now we wait...and wait...

Desired outcome: Need to get this install complete as contracted

On February 8, 2021, the Closet by Design of Orlando sent the design Debby to my house to design a closet for my bathroom. At the time, I had made other quotes with other prominent companies in the closet segment, to name one, Home Depot. But as I believed that Closet by Design was a reputable company in the market and respected its customers, so I opted to...

This company mission has nothing to do with quality and its customer; it is all about them and the money. Their designer visited our house and came up with designs that we thought that we could live with. There were some complexities that Erica promised to review before going final but this never happened. Closets by Design is of course infamous for it...

Have been lied to from every employee we have come into contact with from the original sales rep (she resigned), to the sales coordinator who took over since the rep resigned and installers. Sold us a product they in fact didn't have to fit our closets. Installers advised additional pieces are added for gaps when the systems don't fit. They're "custom" made...

Closets by Design garage flooring and cabinets

I hired Closets by Design to overhaul my garage. The cabinets are beautiful but it has taken three different attempts to get the correct cabinet doors on. Flooring sold to me was suppose to be the best quality for a garage floor here in the desert. It is not even close to be average quality.
The flooring installed is curling up and coming apart. Already had one accident where I caught my foot on the loose and curled up piece and fell to the cement injuring my hand and shoulder. Their response is that it is not their problem. Spoke with Mike several times regarding the problem and when his workman arrived, he basically told him(via speakerphone) that the company was not going to remove the inferior product and that it was not their problem but mine. They would not remove it or replace it.

This flooring has only been down for three weeks. Once they install and get their money, if it all falls apart, so be it. It is the consumer's problem and not theirs. They do not stand behind the products they sell.

Closets by Design closets by design

I worked for the company for a little under 3 weeks as an installer . First off the Maryland heights branch is the only one I'm commenting on . They are very unorganized, 90% of the jobs I went on were incomplete do to mis cut panels or we simply didn't have what's needed to finish . Very cheaply made to begin with and outrageously overpriced partial board . Management is a joke, the designers are terrible, customers are best off hiring a carpenter to build their shelving and cabinets at a fraction of the cost and out of actual wood . As a installer my biggest complaint is my pay which I've yet to receive, I quit when I was told I was being paid 12 an hour and had to use my own tools, yes it took three weeks to find out, I was told one rate at the beginning and when payday arrived with no pay, another rate was quoted, employees and customers should just avoid this company, I'm still fighting for my pay and I also know Schroeder s sod farm is suing this company for not completing the job after a month of starting it ...

They also handed all of their designers this "policy" without explaining anything on it or letting us have a lawyer go over it. They also never provided a hard copy of this to the workers. Just the old, "here, this is for everyone." I assume they can't afford to pay people out for the work they did (or even their own shop tools in your case). So installs after your last day? Forget seeing that money. Speaking of the ****"Industrial grade melamine"**** (so fancy)---when people asked and I answered with that, they often went "yeah, particle board, " so there are only a few people they're fooling with that, especially the 40% off that's been running basically since the franchise started. Definitely should have checked the employee reviews before going here. If you wanna make money, don't open a casino, open a Closets by Design. Then you can screw customers aaaand employees at the same time.

Closets by Design closet build-out

The rep who came to our home to sell the product was GREAT. It all went downhill from there. They had to make 3 trips to our home, of which the first appointment, they missed altogether. I had to take video footage and send to the manager per the customer service rep, Gabby, was quite rude when I called.

Also, I was supposed to have 2 years to pay it off, interest free, per the sales rep. I even repeated that to the bank rep that extended the credit on the recorded line and they agreed. I had it budgeted to pay off in 10 months so to my surprise after 6 months, I received a whopping bill with interest and all. Upon calling, I was told I signed a contract to 6 months and they do not offer 2 years, only 1 year. When I reached out to the sales rep, she stated what I said was correct and to call the office back...No Luck and usually I fight situations like this. Due to a family illness, I had other pressing matters that outranked this.

DON'T DO IT! They lie and the work is not worth it. I should have followed my first mind and used our Lowe's account! Lesson Learned!
