treatment of neighborhood
Costco has put the highest grossing Costco in the 48 states in our back yard. They were very reassuring to the neighborhood that they would be excellent neighbors, and at first they were. Since then, the landscaping in the back of the facility has reverted to bare earth. This area borders the neighborhood of high end homes in Venice, but they could care less about the situation. A few years ago, I drew it to their attention, and they just put more of the same star jasmine in, though this was the plant that all died. I told them not to put the same plant in, that they would die since there is too much shade. So now our neighborhood is bare earth with shopping carts adorning...very attractive!
They also reassured us that there would be lighting. There was lighting the first week, and since then nothing. I saw one couple fornicating in one of the corners. Many women it the neighborhood will not walk next to the Costco property because it is so dark.
I called the man who was head of Costco in the Los Angeles area, to no avail. I have contacted my City Councilman's office so that they can contact the Big and I mean Big corporation. I told them that I am going to contact the LA Weekly as well as the LA Times. I was the person who worked with Costco and the neighborhood, but since then all those with whom I worked, have been promoted, and thus not interested in the neighborhood. Costco actually owns the whole shopping center so they are the ones responsible for everything in the shopping center and around it. They are now into major construction, pushing the wall out closer to our neighborhood, because the warehouse doesn't hold enough. They need to make even more money.
If Costco thinks it's coming into your neighborhood, be sure to dot all the i's . And ensure contacts for the future. Because they will become the worst of neighbors, even if they are among the richest of corporations, and I know our Costco generates megabucks. While wooing the neighborhood, they will present themselves as just folks from Seattle, Washington, but again, do not be fooled.
ridiculous policy for a change of address - rude and discrmininating customer service
I personally think the costco in garden grove, ca by far provides the worst customer service than any other costco around it. Let me tell you why. My husband and I needed to change our mailing address, so we both came yesterday to this garden grove, ca location. My husband is the cardholder on the account, and i'm listed as the dependent member. All we...

I recently bought a Phillips Airfloss.
The package is labeled as a two pack.
However when I opened the box, the was only one charger. I was expecting to be able to split the package with another person. It is priced $120 which is a good price for two and a bad price for one. There appears to be no way to order a second charger. If there was it would likely be too expensive.
Arrange for a second charger to be made available at a reasonable price. $10.
wedding flowers not delivered
A month prior to grandson's wedding I ordered the wedding flowers from COSTCO. The week before I was assured all were enroute but that wasn't true. 1/3 if the flowers (naturally the bride's favorites) didn't arrive on time and were sent out late by Costco's employee (vendor) according to FEDEX records. I had Costco trying to chase them down for two days which they should have done for good service regardless. I had to leave for the remote wedding site two days early to do ALL flowers & decor (no cell reception but gave them phone # of resort) asking for a courier to deliver them to the well known location. After much email/phone calls and panic for me, they called to say they would be delivered. Didn't happen! Huge disappointment, tears and tons of reconnoitering and working two days AND nights to compensate for their error, missing all familiy activities. A hard nosed employee apologized after the wedding saying the vendor would refund my money (they'd have to anyway because I never received the flowers!) and send me $50. BIG DEAL! I told him that was totally unacceptable restitution for the extra time, work, emotional stress and spoiled look of flower arrangements we endured. I expected him to refund all my money or at the very least send a substantial gift cert comparable to what their screwup caused me and friends who had to regroup to deal with THEIR failure. I know it wasn't intentional but wedding flowers are too touchy an order to screw up on even once so if you can't deliver, get out of the business. I asked the man to reconsider but he was adamant that was ALL they would do so I have no choice but to warn and badmouth COSTCO to anyone I know planning events and have already started reporting their lack of responsibility and arrogance (I did not order from the vendor, I ordered from COSTCO who's ultimately responsible for the problem and should make it right!) on every complaint oriented website which I'll continue PLUS writing to the CEO's of COSTCO when I return from my trip. I've been well known in three counties here for 6 generations and they'll lose many future weddings, etc. Their attitude was like they're Bigshots and this little guy isn't a threat. I'm also going to cancel my membership if they don't offer something more equitable.
refund policy
I was so pissed off about this tonight that I wanted to cut up my Costco card. I bought two pairs of Bridgeport flannel lounge pants in a pack that has two pairs in it. They are XL. I wore one pair and really liked them. Then when I went to put on the second pair they didn't fit. I realized then that someone must have switched out that pair and replaced it with a size medium. So I went back to Costco to get a replacement pair.
First they told me that I had to go to the bin and find a replacement two pack and buy it and then they would take one pair out and reimburse me for it. I spent about 15 minutes going through them only to find that there were no XL left. I went back to the refund area and was told that I had only two options. One is that I could bring back the other pair that I like and have been wearing and have washed twice already, or keep both pairs-which really means that I would be end up paying double for my one pair. So if I bring back the pair that I have that I am happy with of course they will just throw it in the garbage. If I don't then I am paying double for them. That is so stupid! I asked why they couldn't just refund me half of what the two pairs cost so I would still be paying for one instead of throwing a pair in the garbage that I really like. Like I said, what a very stupid way of dealing with this.
Since I started this and vented my frustrations with this company, I should report that they did in fact give me a refund. I made a complaint on their website at about the time that I wrote on here and they called me to offer me a full refund for the package and let me keep the other pair.
I spend about an average of $300. per month at Costco and have done so for about 8 years. In that time I have spent about $30, 000. Costco seems to keep pretty good records of what people buy, return etc. In that time they might know that I have only once ever returned anything. For that reason they might realize that I probably wasn't trying to scam them and that someone other than me had made the switch in the products.
I understand the thinking in the previous posts that I might be the thief and therefore how could they ever stop me once they let me get away with that once. I wonder what you might think should be done if a customer bought a four pack of something and found only three in it when they opened the box. (Don't bother answering, I don't really care.)
Anyway, I'm glad that Costco decided I could be trusted with a little good will.
Ellen, if you look at it as you say, multiplied by hundreds, I still think that having a policy that allows me to get a 50% refund for the package is a win-win situation. I only pay for what I have. The pants I like don't have to be thrown in the garbage for no reason. Costco doesn't lose money and I walk away a happy customer. My expectation was that I pay for the pair that I keep and they refund me for the pair I return. That seems like a reasonable expectation to me and I am absolutely confused as to how you interpret their solution as minimizing their losses or my solution as them absorbing my loss. Anyway, I'm done venting. Still annoyed. I will probably keep the pants but never buy clothes at Costco again and I am losing my taste for shopping there at all.
I wish it were possible to order online. Not so easy from South Korea without paying very high shipping charges.
Please pardon my spelling mistake: "throw it in the garbage".
This was my initial complaint: I appreciate the comments.
Ellen you were right when you said this: "Sounds like they may have needed to ring up the new pack, open the pack to take out the new XL to give to customer, put the Medium back in the pack, refund the second pack, and send second pack back to the manufacturer.
Although, if XL wax available, they could have done this without the second purchase. But it is a moot point since XL was not available."
And also you were right when you said that the problem was caused by another customer. But still I think that they could have not made me pay the consequences since they are a big company.
Another thing I didn't mention is that I live in South Korea and finding my size here is such a challenge, so my reluctance to part with the pair I bought and liked is real. I have to decide now whether to keep the pair I already am wearing knowing I am paying double for it or return it so they can through it in the garbage. Either way I am the loser in this and a very unhappy customer!
I bought a 12 pack and paid $19.99 at Costco in Kennesaw GA two weeks ago. The next day, I found the same 12 pack across the street at Total Wine for $13.99. First, because I pay a membership, I expect the lowest price at Costco. Not only was it not the lowest, I paid 30% more for the privilege. I went to Costco and complained, I know they have a no return policy on alcohol, but they would even try to do a price match.
No more beer purchases at Costco.
there is nothing wrong with the policy, no store would give a refund on a half pack of clothing It is unreasonable to think they would
furniture
Bought a leather recliner set online from Costco. Nearly $4000.00 tax in. Couch, love seat and chair. It took over a month to arrive and fell apart in matter of weeks. It stopped reclinng (rather it would recline, but would not go back to sitting position on three of the four recliners), wood fell off under recliner mechanism, legs peeled. thin wood under arms cracked and on and on. Took a while to get it and then when I called to return it they said no, I was outside of the year to return, (but for the legthy shpping time I would have been inside the timeframe) would not give me name of maunfacturer to make my own pitch. The policy is complete satisfaction on furniture and I was not satisfied. I drafted a statement of claim ready to sue, and decided to take it into the retailer, even thougt i did not buy from them. . Thank-fully they took it back. Poorly made Chinese furniture; be careful.
You did not read the post. In case there are others like you who need a little help, the two points were that the return was denied by Costco.ca and that the furniture was of poor quality. As for the reason for not returning within the year, it was less than a year. They calculated the date from the invoice date, not the receipt date, and would not give me the manufacturer's name or contact info for the manuf. warranty, which was a year (Costco determined that I was out of time and would not give me manuf. contact info). As for why I did not return before I did, you are a nosey one, aren't you, but if you must know, it took time to satisfy myself that each of the problems were not "one off's", and shipping three huge pieces of furniture back to wherever was not something I took on lightly or before some deliberation. The local retailer did accept the return.
Ah, yes. Good to see there are still those with worthwhile advice around
Is that the "real" Brenda? Your sound advice suggests it. I used to go by X.
OP: perhaps you should have tried more pleasant negotiation with the Costco reps, I am sure a tad more persistence would have seen payoff. Have you informed someone in the corporate office outside of customer relations? I have luck when I contact "vp's" through company websites when I have a bad experience. To be truthful, I have never shopped at Costco, and I do have a good friend that wrangles carts and does some stocking, but I have no loyalty to Costco for any reason
How can someone quote you and not read the post? Perhaps your supercilious nature forbids you from using logic. If I spent four grand on something that "fell apart in matter of weeks" I would have started the return process at first sign of major defect. My educated guess would be that you used and abused the furniture for nearly a year (see, my comprehension skills are far from lacking), and then wanted to sue when you noticed the deadline had arrived.
rude employee
We bought a vitamin with a coupon, but the cashier forgot to scan it, so we paid the full price. We spotted it and asked for correction. But he apologized and told us to go see the "Account Payable/Merchandise pickup" guy in the back (which is separate from Customer Service) and get the money. He said that might be easier. We had a cashback check from Costco to cash in so needed to see the guy anyway, so just proceeded to the Costco employee in the back. In the back, he seemed busy, there were 3-4 people before us. When it was our turn, we my wife explained to him what had happened, the guy yelled at us saying "did you present the coupon? You should have presented it to the cashier..." Our answer was of course, "yes we did present it to the cashier" but he pretended not to hear that and repeated that couple more times, with his tone and volume increasing each time. OK, what did we do wrong? Do we have to put up with this? But here's more: I was about 5-6 feet away from the line, entertaining our restless toddler, and my wife needed the AMEX membership card from me for the transaction. So I went back to the line and gave my card to him. He got the card from me, turned away his head from me toward the computer screen, processed the refund, handed the card back to me without turning his head. I was reluctant to grab it back without him looking, and he was shaking his hand and yelled at me "here's your card back" still without turning his head to me. Hmm... But I had one more thing to do---cashing the cashback check. So I gave it to him and asked him to process it. He was angry... He yelled "No I can't do this. People are waiting. You should go back to the end of the line." WTF? Was he thinking that I cut in the line? We got in the line properly and while we waited I was 5-6 feet away from the line and got back to it. On what ground was he accusing me of a line-cutter, he was beginning the refund transaction with my wife anyway? It doesn't make sense. While I was trying to figure out what to say, he might have realized he was wrong to accuse me of a line cutter, so he changed his argument and said "When you had two things to take care of you should've shown both of them to me in the first place..." but he didn't change his rude tone, he was constantly in the "yelling" mode. I said slowly and clearly, "Can you help or not?" Instead of answering, he was talking on the radio, saying that there's long line and asking for help, being jiberrish but still loud---probably this time he wasn't talking TO ME directly, but he was showing that frustration TO ME clearly, because I asked him if he could help me or not but instead answering me he was talking this on the radio. A couple minutes later, someone came to help him, saying "next in line please, " suddenly this guy snatched the check from my hand (rude, rude, rude) without saying anything and gave me the cash.
Have we done anything wrong? For whatever reasons he was frustrated and angry about something that I had nothing to do with. The way he treated me would be like an arrogant government employee treating those poor people on food stamps. Maybe... if this happened in places like Walmart, I might understand, but I cannot believe that workers of a membership place with most members being so-called middle-class have such arrogant attitude toward customers.
You think I was in bad luck to have this experience? The problem is, this is not the first time. I have had this similar instance before. I am not a guy that demands unreasonable request or insists our of policy. If there is something I also did wrong, then I might understand, but it was same at that time...there was nothing we did wrong. Last time I immediately asked see a manager and calmly explained what had happened and he listened and told me he would rectify the situation. But apparently it repeats.
From almost 10 years of shopping experience at Costco stores around the country (we have lived in several states and are frequent traveler), customer service at mostly Costco stores are good to excellent, but this Columbus location is uniquely bad.

bad experience with costco employee
I have bad experience from Costco today, my son call me he at work, he asked me if I can return to Cosco the water melon that he purchased
yesterday because it is ratten, he told me to take the receipt in his drawer and also his Costco card that I might need. I went to return the melon, my sister is with me, we wait in the return counter, no one assist us for 15 minutes, until a black woman a Costco
employee asked what I want, I showed her the ratten melon to return. The black woman ask the receipt and Costco card also my identification then
she said that it is a violation of Costco rules that my son allow me to use his card. I told her I am not using the card I merely have it to return
the ratten melon that he purchased yesterday because my son is at work. The black woman gave the refund and confiscated the card and her mood is rude, she is discorteous. Costco should realized that their buseness survival is depending on us and they should appreciate because
we are buying their merchandise, they should not treated the people bad. There are many stores arround to shop I will tell my son not to shop in Costco anymore, Costco is a bad place for shopping.

This venice009 sounds like kid typing in all caps.
He misses Brenda.
My son refuses to stop shopping at Costco even though I told him not to. I told him I am the parent and he has to listen to me still. We got into an argument about how he now has a nine year old son of his own and his own life. I told him that since he refuses to listen to me I will disown him and cut him and his son off my will.
Sounds like the cyberbully oldtimer/superbowl and elfkin on my3cents who whines to admins whenever other members dare oppose him.
Icu2 must be one of superbowls CB nics. Taod must be either one of his sockpuppets or his lackey.
ratten, learn to spell you dummy.
You always won everytime you placed a bet
You're still damn good
No one's gotten to you yet
Everytime they were sure they had you caught
You were quicker than they thought
You'd just turn your back and walk
[ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsfreak.com/b/bob+seger/still+the+same_20021986.html ]
You always said
The cards would never do you wrong
The trick you said
Was never play the game too long
A gambler's share
The only risk that you would take
The only loss you could forsake
The only bluff you couldn't fake
And you're still the same
I caught up with you yesterday
Moving game to game
No one standing in your way
Turning on the charm
Long enough to get you by
You're still the same
You still aim high
There you stood
Everybody watched you play
I just turned and walked away
I had nothing left to say
'Cause you're still the same
You're still the same
Moving game to game
Some things never change
You're still the same
It's really hard to tell who's the real Venice, because of you are equally nasty.
Next time have your son return his own merchandise and this won't happen.
customer service problems
As a consumer, I spend over 10k a year at Costco. Today I was at the Perimeter Costco in Atlanta and went to get a cup of softserve frozen yougart and asked for a squirt of chocolate in the cup. The cashier refused, even though one little squirt would only cost 2 cents which I was willing to pay for. They really need to improve their customer service and not forget without the consumer they would no longer be in business. I’m beginning to hate going to Costco and considering not renewing my membership since Sams Club seems to appreciate their customers more.
From some time ago don’t know when maybe 1 year or so…. The Kirkland’s bathroom tissues are easily torn apart when you clean after your doing #1. I wish the Costco board members including the president try it and see what would happen. Their hands (right or left or both) will get messy and smelly with their own dongs! What has happened to the quality products for daily use! They your recall all Kirkland tissues and also refund for the ones they have sold so far! Shame on you – Costco/Kirkland! I would never and ever buy those cheap tissues from Costco anymore.
That incident alone, I feel how greedy the Costco has become! Never buy the Kirkland made Costco’s bathroom tissues. Please spread the words.
thanks Costco for the best Kirkland tissue your just one person Costco will go on with or without you and your 10k Bye be gone
No matter what you do for the members there never satisfied providing excellent customer service when asked to do something that is against company policy there goes the complaints
This comment is directed to Mango: I know all you wanted was one little squirt of chocolate but if the employee refused it that would be because they aren't allowed to do it and can get written up for doing so. The problem is that when another member see's them doing it for you then they want it too. It's not an issue of you willing to pay or not. There is no way to charge you for it. I worked in the cafe for 5 years and I know the frustrations well. We have no way to charge for just an "extra" of anything. This goes on all day long and it can wear you thin. How would you like it if you were at your job and people ask you to break the rules, do things you're not supposed to do, that can get you in trouble and even fired ALL DAY LONG, EVERYDAY? For example: We sold chili-cheese baked potatoes and of course hot dogs. All day long members would ask for chili-cheese on their hot dog. We couldn't do it. It's not on the menu. IT'S NOT ALLOWED! There's no way to charge you for it. Costco has a limited menu for a reason. They don't just change the policy like that. It got so bad that we just stopped selling the ch-cheese potatoes. No matter what you do or how low the prices are people just want more, more, MORE! All day long parents come in with their kids and buy a smoothie for one child but only want one "extra cup" to share. We started offering small water cups for this but NOOOO. They want the big one with the lid. These cost money (and you knew you were coming here-why didn't you bring a sippy cup with you?!) How are we to keep the prices so low! Same goes for the yogurt-they want one yogurt but "split it between 2 cups". This happens dozens of times a day. All day long the parents buy one hot dog for their 2 kids "but can we just have an extra bun", they ask? They want to cut the hot dog long-ways to make 2 hot dogs out of one. The hot dogs come with a soda (with 1 refill allowed) - you wouldn't believe the amount of people that come in and want 2 hot dogs but get mad when you tell them you can't reduce the price of the second hot dog since they don't want the soda because they want to "share" the soda (and refill) of the first. It's unbelievable the arguements that ensue from this and it happens everyday (really, how cheap are our hot dogs?!) I've had people tell me that they aren't eating in the store so "can I have an extra cup to take my refill with me?" This goes on ALL DAY LONG-EVERYDAY! How are we supposed to keep prices down? Add to this the fact that people take the small cups we provide for water and fill it with their choice of drink and don't consider it stealing since they are members and I'm not surprised that I've been told by management that Costco food courts don't break even in operating costs. All of our food is so cheap but 50% of the people want extras. I once had someone order 20 pizzas for a school party and DEMAND that we were to supply all the plates, napkins, knives and forks. Not to mention that I constantly see people stealing these by the dozens on a regular basis. One lady dropped her purse and dozens of our plastic-ware fell out of it. I saw a man take so many packages of our parmesan cheese that he went and got a box for them and he only purchased one slice of cheese pizza. The list goes on and on. Last but not least on this subject is the fact that these same people that do these things are probably the first to complain when prices are raised. As for the toilet paper issue Mango, I'm betting you are a man. If you are getting dong on your hands when you wipe yourself then you are probably not using enough TP - men are notorious for that!
My sister is a long time member of Costco and routinely purchases the tissues mentioned here, and though this incident that the complaint is referring to happened over a year ago, she told me last week that Costco (or whomever supplies Costco) has closed the plant where their bath tissue, etc. was manufactured, which I believe she said was near Seattle, Wa. Don't know when this happened or if it is even relevant to the complaint issued here but maybe the quality of the product was and/or is affected by the process by which it is made? I don't know but thought maybe it was worth mentioning... maybe the products will improve (or unfortunately maybe not), now that they are being made somewhere else? My sis is very happy with the bath tissue though as it is now softer and stronger, so maybe it depends upon where you are in the country as well? We are in Portland, Or. Just a thought...
HAIR
Not sure if I sent my email to the right place or not...but I'm writing again because I am so pissed off! This is the second time in a matter of months that this has happened to me. I wrote a few months ago about a box of Special K Vanilla Almond cereal that my husband picked up for me as I was trying to start eating healthy, starting with breakfast. THAT backfired on me because I found hair in my brand new box of cereal! This time, I found a hair that is NOT mine again! But it's in a brand new bag of stir fry veggies...here's the info, I know the drill Kirkland Special Blend of Frozen Vegetables, Stir Fry Blend...Item # 25533...Sell by May 24 2012...5| [protected] *...UPC # [protected] 8 I am sick of this...I wasted a whole bag of prawns on this stir fry...makes me sick to my stomach! Last time with the cereal I never kepted the hair, but this time I did and I'm mailing it to you to prove what I found! I am seriously considering cancelling my Costco membership and going to shop locally here in Penticton...also considering posting this to Facebook to see if anyone else experience this! SHAME on Costco for having such shabby food products...excuse me while I throw my entire meal in the garbage...AGAIN! Watch your mail for the hair I found...definately NOT mine! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! Verrrrrryyy unhappy customer that really won't hesitate to share this story with anyone that will listen...I'm actually vibrating I'm sooooooo MAD AND DISGUSTED!

messed-up online order
I ordered a Dell desktop computer on 10/30 from Costco and after 25 days and shipping only one of the two monitors included in the order they let me know i cannot have my order till Dec 8th. They simply say if this is unacceptable go ahead and cancel your order. Worst member service ever. I am switching to Sam's club when this useless membership expires.
I must say i am a Business Executive member and will take all my business shopping elsewhere ( Sam's club most probably )

extreme dissappointment
First, I still think costco is top notch and I know they will refund my money no questions asked if I so choose.
We bought on july 2011 from costco a king size bedroom set made by samson international of north carolina (their wbsite does not work). I bought six large pieces. Ok, first the fumes were beyond horrible, which scares the hell out of me since they were made in china. Remember tainted drywall, tainted dog treats, and tainted baby formula. I've had the bedroom windows open as much as I can in july to hopefully air out the room. There is absolutely no reason for this, it would never happen with an american bedroom furniture manufacturer. Second, had to take back the first large dresser because there was a big chunk out of the top left corner (in full sight). They put their chinese sticker of quality control on it anyway. Costco let me return it no problem. Now, then the dresser that replaced it has three large cosmetic flaws on the front. Mostly I am disappointed in costco for trying to get higher margins by contracting a chinese furniture co., why couldn't they get an american co.in n. C. And charge a $100 more. I am still debating hauling it all back and go shopping for an american made set.
Costco used to have way more american made goods, now their doing just like wal-mart did and buy the cheapest-meaning china china china. I am also mad at myself for not noticing the made in china on the box. I have severe low back pain, and getting it all in the house with my son was a about all I can take. Please beware of any chinese made furniture. I think the fumes are dangerous. Their quality control is a pathetic joke. Remember do not buy any samson international furniture 'ever".
I shop with COSTCO and I love it! I agree about the American made good though... That was the thing with Sam Walton. He believed in buying American. Now with him dead, it's all about money. :( Having said that Wal-Mart is still a great store. K-Mart was too, but it's now gone to the dogs!
I used to live in the UK and the best thing there is TESCO which isn't a patch on Wal-Mart, let alone COSTCO
interview
I was called the day before a Costco store wanted to interview by a brash and rude "manager". I agreed to interview at 3:15 on a Friday in the Burbank location. Upon arriving, I checked in with the managers on the floor and was directed to the break room. I was there for an hour waiting to be interviewed, continually telling the managers on the floor that I was STILL THERE, and they were interviewing people who came in AFTER me. Finally someone came and told me that they tried to reach me on the phone and I didn't answer; not bothering to realize they were calling my HOME phone and obviously I can't answer my HOME phone when I'm going to an interview. They said they were backed up and that I would have to come back the following week. Then I get a letter from that store stating the position was filled. I will probably never waste my time again applying to Costco. You wasted my time, my gas, and you jerked me around for over an hour when I could have been at another interview.
I don't sleep with my daughter and her husband.. I am close by to take care of my grand daughter so they can go do things.. I only want to smoke on occasion if I have a drink.. I know that is bad..but that is the truth.
customer service
Is it wrong that I created this account just to complain about Costco? I've been a member for several years and have never been treated as poorly as I was treated on my recent visit. I was meeting my mom who was already in the store. I had forgotten my phone and my wallet somehow, so I explained to the guy at the door I was meeting my mother in produce and forgot my membership, but she has hers. He told me I needed to have her meet me up front or get a guest pass. I tried to explain that without a wallet I couldn't get a guest pass and without a phone I couldn't call her, but he talked over top of me and became very rude. So there mom was, somewhere in the back, and here I was standing up front no longer in any mood to calmly explain anything. He was incredibly rude! I move to the ridiculous line at customer service to see if they would page my other and all the while, the jerk at the door kept giving me dirty looks. I finally became so upset that I left, drove home, grabbed my wallet and came back... just so I could shove my membership in his face. Angry. Angry. Angry. I understand policy, but you don't need to be nasty and you can certainly make occasional exceptions. I had even told him I could get my mother and bring her to him, he would have none of it.

I ordered a 46 inch HDTV from Costco.com on Feb 14, 2010. Delivery time was to be 7 to 10 days. My credit card was charged immediately upon ordering. Costco chose CEVA (Eagle Logistics) to be the delivery provider. There was no tracking number and no instructions on how to obtain a delivery date. I emailed Costco.com and was informed that CEVA would contact me. but I could call them if I wanted more info. After 10 business days and not hearing from CEVA, I called. An employee had me on hold for about 15 minutes and then said she would have to call me back. There was no call back. I tried calling again on day 13 and got put into someone's voicemail. Again, CEVA did not return my call. I contacted Costco and was informed the CEVA had lost the TV and had no clue where it was. Costco asked me if I wanted them to ship another TV.
I chose not to accept another shipment because:
1. Costco lowered the price, but I never got the credit for the lower price.
2. The same TV is available elsewhere for $101 less than Costco. The store is local (Costco is 2 hours away) and I could get the TV immediately and not have to deal with CEVA again.
Costco agreed to cancel the order and refund my money - BUT I would have to wait up to 10 days for a credit (? - Costco can charge my credit card immediately, but needs 10 day to issue a refund ?)
Costco then shipped another TV to me, despite my telling them I did not want it. Upon contacting them again, I was told to refuse the delivery (if CEVA can actually keep track of the item this time)
COSTCO need to find a shipper who can actually track deliveries - the inability to track in this age of computers is unacceptable.
COSTCO need to provide faster refunds when they or their subcontractors are at fault. While I could go down the street and get the same TV immediately, I will not go until I see the credit post to my account. I have to wait 5 more days before my credit card company will allow me to dispute the charge.
This incident at COSTCO is the first negative experience I've had in 7 years of buying from COSTCO. I will no longer order online from them.
scam for executive members
I have been an Executive Member with Costco for years, and many years ago I had an American Express account with them that I had cancelled after only two months; no yearly fees but the insurance costs for any outstanding balance was enormous. So I officially closed the American Express account (seven years ago). But recently, with my 2% rewards bonus, came a notice that said, “On March 1, Costco Wholesale will automatically renew your membership on the credit card account noted in our records.” HOLY DOO DOO !
This sentence was slipped-in the middle of a paragraph thanking me etc etc; I wasn’t even going to read the note attached to my 2% reward coupon. This has to be illegal ! I phoned Costco complaints department and they informed me that I could phone back in a couple of days and cancell it then, but that there were already charges on my account for them having re-instating my American Express account. My GOD what is this world coming to?
full time job (no chance)
Do not accept a job from costcos, you will be out of a job. A bunch of liers and inbred spackers

What do you call an inbred? Maryjo Cussin
rip-off
Can you find the deals? Where's the savings? Lets see. I have been a member since, 1993. I have noticed prices going up and portions going down. Price of gas come on..same as gas stations. So, why am I paying them membership of 50-100 a year. If business is so good. Why rip us off. Where are the deals? I am finding the deals at local grocery stores not here at costco anymore. I say stop going. Maybe then will they listen. We pay to save not get riped-off!
rude treatment while leaving the store.
One Sunday after purchasing two items we were trying to leave the store but there was an exit line of more than 25 other suckers.when we tried to go around, the door moniter grabbed the receipt from my wife and ordered her to the end of the line, and would not return the receipt. After about ten minutes of arguing she tore the receipt and threw it on the floor. We left the store never to return again. Now we have no more membership dues, its the best. Why pay a membership fee to be treated like crap. Now we only shop at stores without membership fees.

So waiting your turn in line for a few minutes doesn't apply to someone like you who thinks you are more important than the ones you're cutting in front of? I'm a very happy Costco regular customer who has enjoyed many $$$ in savings and thankful that the employees treat everyone equally... even self centered jerks like you
no oatmeal cookies
In all our years of shopping in costco, my company, (buys dozens of oatmeal cookies and chocolate cookies per day) friends, relatives have rarely complained. Once in a while a product will be taken off the market and we live with it. This time around, for some ungodly reason, the bakery has decided to discontinue making oatmeal cookies? WHY? And surprisingly would prefer to keep other cookies and ridiculously out of control, over the top, 1000 calorie a slice chocolate cake in stock. SERIOUSLY! We have not been able to get an explanation from anyone yet. Costco customer service were not even aware when I went up to ask why.
