visa card not matching member name refused by cashier
On October 12, 2017, when we checked out at Costco store, the cashier refused a Visa card with my name on it. I was accompanied by and paying on behalf of my wife, who is a member. I am not a member as we gave the family membership to our son. We were told only a Visa card with my wife's name is acceptable, or we pay in cash. I called the manager over and he stated that he sees no problem with using my card. In fact, what is the difference between using my credit card or my cash? We have been shopping at Costco for many years in different cities and two countries and have never encountered this restriction. I reviewed the payment rules and nothing is stated about requiring the name on the Visa card to match the member name. It was embarrassing for us as it held up the line and we felt like we were somehow cheating. I do not see how this rule benefits Costco or customers, we will certainly not renew if these petty rules are enforced. Member#[protected]

An employee goes by the name Irma failed to present herself in a professional manner. I was requesting a copy of my membership for unintentionally leaving my card at home. I presented her a valid veterans ID and asked me "what kind of ID is this?" In a very rude tone. I replied, it is a veterans identification issued by the goverment. I told her that my membership is under costco family membership as my sister is a costco employee. I told her she printed out her membership not mine and told itll be ok. Upon checking out, they had to do the same and search for my name. Her rude attitude and demeanor clearly shows her unprofessionalism as i over heard her say to another employee that it wasnt a good day yesterday so i assume she isnt having a good day. Please address this to her to be a little bit more professional as i presented myself in a very good way when requesting a copy of my membership.

I was very disappointed today (11-Oct) while at my Goleta, CA Costco I saw this product being sold. It is my opinion that this is an inappropriate item to be sold at your locations. I plan to let all of my friends know of this as I believe that the USA needs to reign-in guns and accessories. In all of my past visits to Costco I do not recall ever seeing gun-related merchandise. I certainly hope that Costco will put common-sense over profit. If not, you shall lose at least this long-time customer. Thanks...

poor quality product and customer service
Today was a very disappointing day at Costco Optical in Tumwater, WA. I have been a loyal customer but today I have decided not to use optical services at Costco anymore. I have bought several eyeglasses at Costco and referred clients and friends to it. I have also heard from some friends that Costco eyeglasses were poor quality but I was never convinced of it. Now all of this has changed.
Two years ago or so, a pair of Costco eyeglasses got broken within 6 months of purchase but Costco replaced it and said it was a "one in a lifetime experience" at their store. As I had paid $60 for it, I thought it was the price. Since then I started buying more expensive glasses. Today, I woke up and as I placed my eyeglasses, they just fell apart. These are $300 eyeglasses purchased in January. I was very upset. I am very careful with my personal things in general, and I keep my glasses in their case whenever I am not using them. When I had some time between clients, I went to Costco Optical today and showed it to the staff attending me (which was the manager Pam). I explained the situation and asked her if she could fix it. It was not broken. The two parts were not sliding into each other (see pictures below). The manager looked into it and said that something had been done to the glasses, they had been bent or else. I told her it was not what happened. She insisted on it, saying she had a lot of experience in it. To which I thought, "well, it seems you do not have as much experience after all, because you are wrong". I was amazed at it. I had paid more than $300 on this glasses and in 9 months they were not functional. She said I could buy another pair of glasses. I told her this was not fair: she was accusing me of doing something I had not done and trying to sell me another pair of glasses. At no point she owned that it was a poor product itself. I told her that those glasses should be priced at $30, to which she got upset and said she would not look for another pair for me and would refund it to me. I was surprised with the lack of caring from this manager. As she saw it was getting difficult for her to explain what happened, she did not want to attend to me anymore, just return the money. Those glasses were very essential to may daily work and now I would stay days without glasses. Her words became patronizing, to which I answered: I am an immigrant, please treat me with respect. As the manager went to plan the refund (which took a very long time to be completed), she would sometimes refer to me as "honey". After a while, I had to ask her not to call me that name anymore because I had not allowed her to do so (to which she apologized; how perceptive). I left with the refund and will definitely not buy glasses at Costco anymore. Two bad experiences: the first one dealt with effectively, the second one with a lack of respect and dignity that was appalling. I expected more from Costco, but I would imagine that something might be going wrong as it is now providing less than respectable customer service. I thought you needed to hear this story. Maybe there is a way to get things working better again at Costco. Maybe by starting doing better customer service training to your staff.

I noticed that immediately after hurricane harvey Costco setup an avenue to collect donations for victims of hurricane harvey but there was no effort or attempt with Hurricane Maria which struck Puerto Rico and it's American citizens to raise and or collect donations for those victims...WHY?
I hope there is not a double standard in Costcos implementation of charity work as Puerto Rico and it's citizens are American.
kirkland 360 crystal clear cutlery
I bought 3 boxes of plastic disposable cutlery and all three boxes had no knives! I did not inspect the boxes before buying them as the boxes are sealed and did not inspect them when I got home. But what a disappointment when it came time to use the 3 boxes of cutlery that is suppose to have spoons; forks and knives in the boxes. We had to scramble the campground to find enough knives for everyone’s meal. Very disappoint in this product... I paid for full cutlery; in the future I will open the boxes in the store. Costco Salsa, really awful and overly sweet with added corn syrup, unbelievably bad.

As I was patiently waiting in the customer service section to get a day pass because I had forgotten my card at home, the representative assisting in the customer service section let the people behind me go in the front of me and receive assistance before me and she did not care to do anything about it she still helped them first. I've been to many stores in my life and that should not have been acceptable, that is not right and she should have handled that situation differently. I came in for a routine flu shot thinking going to the Costco Pharmacy was going to be a piece of cake. Boy, was I wrong. It was a total disaster and I ended up leaving without even getting the shot. Your pharmacy staff performed horribly and made me the customer the hostage. I would never expect such unprofessional conduct from Costco, my favorite supplier in the world. I have been a member since about 1990, and I spend about $3500 per year in the Eugene store purchasing supplies for my bed and breakfast. I am outraged and I want compensation for what I had to go through. I think a fair compensation would be a year’s free membership for me and my husband.

I had read online that I should download and fill out your immunization consent form before coming to the pharmacy to save time, so I had done this. I presented the form (which included my Medicare number), and my Medicare card itself to the clerk at the Prescription Dropoff window. They created an order for me and informed me it would be a half hour wait until I could get the shot. I was okay with that as I had at least half an hour of shopping to do while I waited. If they had known what they were doing they would have processed the billing with Medicare in that interim, but it never occurred to them.
I came back promptly 30 minutes later (5:05 pm) but had no idea where I was supposed to wait for the pharmacist to come out and give me the injection. I went back to the dropoff window and was told I was the next person in line. The clerk gave my order to another pharmacist who rang it up on a register and told me the shot was going to cost me $19.99. That was a mistake, as I know Medicare pays for these shots. I objected to the fee, and the pharmacist who was helping me took my Medicare card to the back room. (Note that they already had this information).
Then I proceeded to wait and wait and WAIT. A whole procession of people, including finally the pharmacy manager, Rebecca, took turns playing with the computer to no avail. The pharmacist who was helping me never even came back to the register to tell me what was going on and why it was taking (an hour) to process the transaction with Medicare.(it never did work). I finally went back to the Dropoff Window to ask what was going on. I was informed that the staff was dealing with a new computer system and I would have to “be patient”. I finally gave up in total frustration after waiting a total of an hour and a half, with no end in sight. I had offered to just pay for the shot and bill Medicare later (or not), or have Costco reimburse me after the store collected from Medicare. The staff informed me neither of these things was possible.
Their excuse was this was a new computer system they’d only been using a day or two – they were still learning how it works, and the software also apparently has bugs in it. Neither of those things should have turned out to be my problem.
My complaint is that “the customer is king” and the pharmacy staff completely mishandled this debacle.
(1) What they should have done was take executive action and just give me what I came for – a flu shot. I had to be hung out to dry for $19.99 –
Really ?! By Costco, a multi-billion dollar company. That’s the thanks I get for being a super loyal customer. They should have either just given me the shot for free, and got Medicare to authorize the payment to Costco at their leisure, not on my time. Or else, had me pay for it, but agree to reimburse me the next time I came in the store when they had finally figured out how to use the billing system with Medicare. What you have running around that pharmacy is a bunch of incompetent and inconsiderate people who don’t know what they are doing.
(2) The pharmacy should not have implemented their new computer system on the customers until everyone there was completely trained in its use, and the bugs were fixed.
I am really upset over this incident, and I feel Costco owes me. I would accept a year’s free membership for me and my husband as compensation. I may continue to use the Costco pharmacy for prescriptions, but I don’t think I will ever come back there for an immunization. It isn’t worth it.
P.S. I made a verbal complaint to a floor manager (Laura) while in the store, and she was supposed to look into this and call me back today (Saturday, October 7) with some kind of resolution. As of 5 pm. Saturday, October 7, she has not called me.
wireless service provider
Good morning. I purchased a new cell phone and set up a plan through the in house wireless provider. I was encouraged to purchase the extended warranty as well. Key reasons, quick replacement in case of damage to my phone, replacement phones should mine need service etc. Seemed to make sense as this phone was my only form of communication both for home and work. Needless to say sept 15th I was required to teach out to Assurean for service, what a nightmare! What made things worse was Costco management in the narrie store never returned my request for a phone call. I reached out to management on Sept 16th initially. Kalen( sp?) initially helpful however on sept 25th when I reached out again due to np response from Costco warranty provider . I was promised "Tyler store manager" would call. He never did . Terrible customer service. I have yet to hear back!
solving an argument
So I was at costco at morena blvd san diego today and this lady was picking at shirts and I just needed to grab one so I said excuse me and went ahead to grab a shirt, she started calling me rude and saying that it is a chinese culture problem and we all dont have manners. I got mad and we got in an arguement where she started calling me a nip so I called her something back. However, when the costco person (old lady in her 60-70s silver hair caucassion) come to try to solve the problem she only talked to the women (Who’s native american caucassion/brown) and ignored what I said. I think this has become a racist issue and she shouldn’t be working at costco anymore if she’s not able to treat people with different races equally. I hope this problem gets resolved or at least someone do something about it. Casting people out shouldnt be happening in america right? :) hope to hear back with a result soon. This has made shopping at costco a very unpleasant experience expecially being ignored by one of your employees and I was really mad at how your employee handled the problem. cashier performance
I grabbed about $350 worth of merchandise i was checking out at about 2:00 p.m. on 10/6/2017 with a hispanic girl two other workers came and kept on insisting for my mom to upgrade her card shes a spanish speaker only.Well she kept on telling them No and they kept on pushing the issue it was irritating. Well my mom takes care of my four children cause i work and go to school i receive food stamps and i usually go with my mom in the beginning of the year to buy groceries and snacks for my kids to eat while there at her house. I dont have a membership card because i dont shop there but only 1 time throughout the month when i go with my mom to buy groceries for her to keep for my kids. I have been going with her numerous times throughtout the year and never had an issue before. Well today my card was not going through after i swiped it like 5 times one of the guys that kept on insisting for my mom to upgrade told the cashier to manually punch it in well the name on the card was not my moms but mines and the cashier made a big deal and was like thats the reason why is not going through because youre not a member and you cant pay with ebt it can only be with cash or debit. I told her that was NOT true because this was not the first time i come with my mom and use my ebt card this was actually the first time this had happen. Well she basically called me a liar and kept on telling me it wasnt true what i was saying. How could it not be true all she had to do was check my moms past history with the card and it would come out how many times she has used my card there. It was extremely embarrising and i felt like i was doing something wrong when i wasn't. The manager came over who was an African American and i told him what happen and he was like yeah u need to have a membership its always been like that but thats not true. I had never felt so humilated like today i was not stealing anything i was just simply paying with my ebt like i do every single month without no issues. The problem was she didnt wanted to upgraded and i didnt wanted to pay $60 for a membership card that im not going to use because i dont shop there but only 1 time that i go there in the month with my mom.
sloppy tire rotation and vehicle damage

-Brought the vehicle to the shop for a routine tire rotation. I was given an estimated time of 45min. The vehicle was ready within half an hour. I was surprised it was finished so quickly but didn't think anything of it until I got to the vehicle. I saw that instead of removing/placing over the old date and mileage sticker, the new one was sloppily thrown on below it. Also, the heat shield over the muffler had come off at 2 out of 3 welding points. I called the garage manager over to show him and he said, in a very laissez-faire attitude, that the lifts don't touch anywhere near the heat shield and there was absolutely nothing he could do about it. Whenever my mother's vehicle is getting work done, I go with her so the owner or a mechanic doesn't try and take advantage of her. She asked the manager a question about the heat shield and he, without skipping a beat, continued to talk to me without even acknowledging her. Thankfully one of the mechanics was kind enough to come over and take the time to make a very temporary hold, with zip ties, for the heat shield until it can be fixed.
-When the heat shield is fixed we want Costco to pay for the repair, and the manager preferably fired because of very poor customer service and his rude and child like attitude throughout this service.

Today, 10/06/17 at 10:00am, I brought my care to the Costco in Signal Hill to have it repair one flat tire, the left rear tire. Carlos (Mechanic) told me that it takes about 2 1/2 hours wait. I said OK. I left my car in the lot for repair. Then I shopped and bought a few items from Costco until 12:15pm. Then I went to ask the mechanic Jesse, Is my car ready? He said, let me check. Jesse came back and said, no it's not ready. It takes 3 1/2 hours to fix it. I waited 2 hours already. He said i will have to wait 1 1/2 hours more for my car to be repaired. I told him that it is rediculous to wait 3 1/2 hours for them to repair one flat tire. I took my car back and left the store.
Why does it take 3 1/2 hours to repair one flat tire. It was not 5 cars in front of me. I can understand if i had to replace 4 tires, but to repair one fat tire takes 3 1/2 hours. It's unacceptable for anyone to wait this long to repair one flat tire.
store markham east 545
The store markham east 545 has got a very bad customer servie lady, her name is "sisi" . She throws the recepit to me, does not respond to customers request and speaks rudely to the customer. Whoevrer served by her has to wait forever to get her service. I complained to the manaager there and it seems they brushes off everything. I don't want to see any customer like "sisi" anywhere in costco anymore. If she is not able to sepak to customers, do something else in the back

I was injured by a manager while I was paying for my groceries.
On October 21, 2014 I was paying for my groceries and talking to the cashier Lena. A manager pushed a Flat Bed Cart onto my right foot. She yelled at the cashiers not to help me and go back to work. I was passing out. They tried to cover up my injury by deleting the surveillance. I was yelled at by the manager of insurance Zois Johnston. He told me he hates the customers. He told me I wore the wrong shoes when the manager put the Flat Bed Cart on my foot. He also said I would never prove it that I wasn't shopping with a friend (witness) and that the surveillance would be deleted. The cashier Lena told the truth to the police and told me they were having meetings to cover this up. Many people are involved in this cover up. Cameron is the manager of another Costco that I shopped at frequently and she told me Lena was threatened to lie or she would lose her job. I had 2 surgeries and was on the couch almost a year. My middle toe was crushed, the next toe was dislocated and the big toe was shoved back and now has a plate a screws holding it in place. The Plantar Plate had to be reattached as well. Those carts are the heaviest. They need something in the front of them so it can't hurt someone else! Costco's lawyer Chris told me after deposition that Costco would ruin my life. I said they already have! Manager Stacy, Supervisor Joan, Supervisor Annalisa, Cashier Lena, the Manager that would not take care of me when I was passing out from the pain, all the cashiers that did nothing, the Insurance people Zois Johnston and Jill Leathers are all involved. CEO Craig Jelinek won't call me back. I sent him a long e-mail telling him what happened. I guess he doesn't care or he trains his managers to treat people this way after they hurt someone. IS THIS HOW YOU TREAT CUSTOMERS THAT GET INJURED BY A MANAGER. THEY NEVER PAID MY INSURANCE. CASHIER LENA LIED IN DEPOSITION! ZOIS JOHNSTON AND JILL LEATHERS SENT LETTERS SAYING HOW NICE THEY WERE TO ME! TO MANY LIES FROM THEM. THEY WERE HORRIBLE TO ME!

In the past year we moved from Sandy, UT to West Chester, OH. The produce quality is drastically different at the Springdale, OH Costco. Fruit is almost always mostly rotten, apples are never crisp, everything else is great at this Costco but why is the produce so terrible? I keep shooting myself in the foot, I inspect it as best I can at the store then get home to disappointment. Sure I could drive the 20 minutes back to Costco and get my money back for my rotten grapes purchased just 2 days ago, but I don't have the time. I've noticed I'm spending far fewer of my grocery dollar at Costco and more at the supermarket, it might just be time to switch to Sam's or call the quits on wholesale.
lennox air conditioning
My old air conditioning unit lasted 12 years, but realizing it was bound to fail at some point, I decided to trust Costco (hey they should know who is good and who isn't) so I signed up and got a quote fo ar new unit. On May 28, 2017, the unit was installed. In 2 years and 4 months, the blower module failed. Free part but I had to pay $250 to have it installed. Then the evaporator coil failed, again free part, but I had to pay $750 to have it installed. This despite the fact that lennox has settled a class action suit where it was claimed that lennox was distributing faulty evaporator coils. I think you have hitched your horse to the wrong wagon and will be very leery of services sold by Costco
kirkland signature aa batteries
Yesterday we went to change the batteries in our Apple keyboard and noticed that the Kirkland Signature AA Batteries that we in there leaked and were all corroded. It is so bad that we still can't get one of the batteries out of the battery compartment. We tried to drill out one battery that is still stuck and we were unsuccessful. We would like to get our Apple keyboard replaced as this should not happen!
