company refused cancellation
Made order for computer furniture from Cymax. The next day I realized that I had ordered the wrong keyboard for the desk, and had it cancelled. 1 hour later I attempted to cancel the entire order. Didn't get an answer. The next day I got an email saying that part of my order had been shipped even thought I had placed the cancellation. I called the company and was told by them they they would place a return. 3 Days later i received another email that the remainder of my order had shipped. Of course I refused the order and was told that I had to pay shipping charges and restocking fee. Total payment for shipping and restocking $500 + dollars. The company is a rip off artist...I would certainly tell everyone that I come across not to do business with them.

Sells items that are either not as described or damaged. The customer service 866# is a major waste of time as they generally give you an e-mail address to customer service and tell you you need to open a case via e-mail. They make you send the item back - AT YOUR OWN EXPENSE, for their problem, such as damaged goods or an item not exactly as described. They try and shift blame onto the manufacturer. And some of this stuff is very heavy and costly to have to ship back at your own expense.
They take several weeks to respond to just 1 e-mail, and their e-mail responses and chains are generally long (months upon months) and exhausting.
Based on countless online reviews, this company has a long and consistant history of BAD products and customer service to match.

I resently placed an order with Cymax and entered my billing address as well as sent to address and to my amazement, they sent the merchandise to my old address in which they had in their system. After not receiving the product, I then was informed that it was sent to the old address and that I would have to pay an additional fee to tried and retrieve it back. I disagree with their options and requested a refund. As of now I am not happy with this type of business, because it doesn't appear to be any due process here. My option to pay additional fees isn't an option for me.

I ordered a bed from this online retailer on Sept 10 2011. When placing the order I had the sales person check the inventory so as I did not have a problem getting the merchandise. I was assured there were many in stock at the manufactures warehouse in California and it would be shipped out within a few days. Cymax had the Modus Furniture in stock inventory on their computer. I ordered the bed, they charged my account that day and I have been waiting for the item to arrive. I was given a delivery date of Sept 26-28. On Serpt 29 I called as the ordered showed "in process" on Cymax website, promised a call within 24-48 hours on status. Called back Oct 3 and was told wait another day as I was sure to get the email. Called today 10/5 and was told the item was back ordered until Nov 30th.
They have had my money for the entire time, and will refund me the credit in 3-5 business days. I have paid interest on the amount and requested a small credit of $5.00 for my carrying costs and they said no. This company makes money on charging credit cards, getting the cash when the may well know the item is unavailable. Do not trust them.

On 2/14/2012 I ordered a California King 3" gel mattress topper. I received a confirmation e-mail with a reference number. They said I should receive it by 3/2/2012. It is 3/8/2012 and I have nothing. I attemped to call twice and the recording said that the wait would be over an hour each time I called. Who has time to wait on hold for an hour? The site said that I could check "my account" on line for the status of my order...WRONG! If doesn't even show that I had purchased anything in "my account." I finally located an e-mail address, so I e-mailed and received a response. It indicated that my item had shipped via UPS and gave me a tracking number. I checked with UPS tracking, and it was not any tracking number of theirs. I have since e-mailed twice and have yet to get a response from anyone. I wish I had read all of the complaints before I purchased anything from them. I would have shopped elsewhere. What they are doing to people is absolutely NO WAY TO RUN A BUSINESS! I hope I am not just "out of luck." If I have to cancel my order, it will probably take an "act of congress" becaues the site says to contact them. I have not been able to do that yet, so I don't hold out any hopes. This lack of customer service is is frustrating and just plain wrong!

After waiting more than 2 months past the initial delivery date in Nov. 2011, we finally got our $1400 sofa- or so we thought. The sofa came without the chrome legs & instructions. The cushions have been sitting on our family room floor for a month while Cymax claims that it must confirm with the shipper that the parts weren't delivered. Hello! Why would we call & email if they were delivered! They have kept our money since October while they continue to delay. We asked them to refund us & pick up the couch, but we have received no response. They don't answer the phone- at this point, we are ready to look into our legal options since this company seems to be getting away with fraud.

Once I started assembling the console, I noticed upon inserting the nails and screws in the material began to crumble. Once the "so called legs No. 6 were place on with little stability support, I noticed it could barely stand up. I have never, ever brought such a low quality product before. Based on reviews from other customers regarding Cymax and Coaster they seen to be in the business of ripping off consumer. Both companies need to be sanctioned or perhaps put out of business for selling defective and poor quality merchandise.

I too have never posted anything about a company so bad, but every company I have ordered from has been okay except for this one. CYMAX IS THE WORST COMPANY I HAVE EVER ORDERED FROM. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR. FIND IT SOMEWHERE ELSE. This company is awful. I ordered something on 10/1/2011, still, to this day, 12/28/2011, havent had the order delivered. They took my 600 dollars the day of ordered and still nothing. I tried to cancel twice and each time, they said I couldnt, that it was delivered. And then they said it was an internal processing error and would let me know. Then I would be on hold with the delivery place for a half hour only to be told they never got the piece to be delivered...than another hour on hold for this crap place. I swear to God, please do not order from them! I hope people check this out. AWFUL, FRAUDFUL COMPANY AND I WILL BE FILING CHARGES AND REPORTING TO BBB. Because I wanted a specific comfortable computer chair for my father and could not find it elsewhere for delivery before Christmas, I ordered from Cymax, because they promised delivery by 12/23. They appeared to be a legitimate website. AfterwardsI read about the myriad of complaints about Cymas online when I went to find their website so I could contact them.
On 12/22, I called them and they advised that it would not be shipped for 2-3 weeks. When I began to discuss the promised delivery date, they hung up on me. This was after 25 minutes on hold.
I canceled the order and will be disputing this through Paypal. I will NEVER purchase anything from them again!
Also, I have never had a problem in the past with any other online company or delivery.

On November 4th, I placed an on-line order for a bed from the Cymax Furniture Stores. I was told to expect delivery 8 days from the date of the order and I was given information to track the shipment on-line. My credit card was billed on November 7th, today is the 20th and I still have not received the bed and cannot seem to get information from the company as to when it will ship or when I can expect it to arrive. I've called their customer service line numerous times and get an automatic voice recording saying their representatives are busy and someone will be with me shortly ... it has taken over an hour each time to finally get a human to answer the phone! I finally got a person who told me to wait two or three days and call back! So, on November 15th I called again and after being on hold for another 45 minutes to an hour I got a person who pulled up my order on the computer and told me there had been a mix up, not only with my order but with all orders and that it was the manufacturers fault. She said it would ship either today or tomorrow (the 15th or 16th) and that I would be able to log on to Cymax website and get tracking information ... well, guess what? The website still says the exact same thing it's said from day one: Order Status In Process, No shipping information available, try back in 3-2 days (not 2-3 days but 3-2 days!) I'm beginning to wonder if this is a Scam Company? I sent them an e-mail and said I expected a reply ... well, I got a reply saying they saw I had already spoken to someone on the phone regarding my order and to have a nice day! And, they didn't even sign their name! I've ordered on-line many times over the past 20 years but this is the worst customer service I've ever experienced and I will never order from them again. I've found out that if I cancel the order they will charge a re-stocking fee as well as shipping charges! I say: BUYER BEWARE ... do your homework and read reviews before ordering from Cymax Furniture Stores! I'm not sure what recourse I have to remedy the situation but I'm going to call again tomorrow to see if I can get someone to answer the phone and tell me why they are so unscrupulous!

I ordered a bed from Cymax to be delivered just after I moved into my new place. I figured one day sleeping on the couch wouldn't be too bad. The day of delivery I got my headboard and footboard - no bed rails. Opening them up was the ONLY way I discovered that there were no side rails with the order, despite the fact that the description specifically says "bed frame." Called, was told by a machine that they would call back, they didn't. Called, was put on hold for literally over a half hour, was told by a person that I was completely right and they would transfer me to someone who could fix it. That person did NOT fix it and told me I should just find a set on Craigslist. Or they would sell me a set for $89 plus shipping. Thought about it, decided I wanted to take it further and called back again to this guy's direct line. Was told he was on another call and would get back to me. He didn't. Filed a complaint with BBB. Two months later got a call saying they were very sorry and they would send me a set of rails. I had already bought some on Amazon for $53. I was told they would refund me. The refunded $40 three weeks later. I tried to find out why the $13 discrepancy, nothing. Filed a follow up with BBB. as of this morning I get a follow up through the BBB site saying the guy I spoke with was no longer there, $40 was the price I agreed up for a refund (when did this conversation take place? no idea) and that the new guy had provided his contact information in the last conversation (which I apparently must have had in my sleep) and that Cymax would, no way no how, refund my full amount. Very rude letter, worst customer service ever.

Cymax is a terrible company. I ordered a Allegator Bed from them on August 16 and they said it would be delivered by the 2nd week of Sept. It was during that week that I found out from the Manufacturer, Allegator Enterprise, that Cymax had actually canceled my order with them. So, in other words, Cymax took my money and never sent an order form to the manufacturer, only a cancellation notice. So, the bed had not even been processed. I disputed the charge on my credit card and ordered the bed directly from the company and had it in three weeks total. Do not order from Cymax, they are a fraudulent company.

I had to cancel the order because it was the wrong size. They shipped the order 2 days later. I tried to price match with their 110% price match and they would not! I refused shipment and I got and e-mail stating I would get nothing for a refund because the restocking fee and shipping costs both ways was more then the item? I am disputing this charge on the charge card and I hope this company will be looked into they are fraudulent. Do not order anything from any of their websites.
They have many different sites that should have been my first red flag.

I was waiting for a sofa since october 2008 from cymax, then a month after I have the delevery but my surprise the sofa came in incompleted, missing parts and all dirty, of course I refused and send back to replace for another sofa, and honesty got sick waiting for the new sofa and I cancelled the order, and now this stupid store don't want to reimburse my credit, and kept the whole money, at this point I don't get my sofa or my money back, right now Im dropping a complaint to consumer report, but at this point I don;t what can I do.

I ordered a dining set from Cymax on 9/24/11. Their website said this dining set was in stock and would ship in 2-3 business days. When. Week had gone by and no tracking number was available when I logged onto my account I called them. I was on hold for over 35 minutes before I could talk to a live person. When I was finally connected to their customer service rep she could not tell me when or even if my dining set was shipped. She claimed no one at the manufacture company answered their phone during normal business hours. I called Cymax a couple of days later and again waiting 43 minutes on hold before I could talk to a anyone. Again no answer on when or if my order was shipped. I called the following week (another 45 minute hold) and was told my order would be delivered the next Wednesday or Thursday. After waiting around both days I called Cymax and and was on hold 53 minutes. They promised my order would be delivered the next Tuesday. I finally called their shipping company and found out my dining set had been sitting in the shippers warehouse for over a week and the reason why it was not delivered was because Cymax owed the shipping company money and that Cymax had owed them money a lot in the past so a lit of their orders are held for nonpayment. The shipping company took pity on me and released my order and delivered it today. Cymax promised me last Friday that they would call the shipping. Company and straighten out everything. Cymax promised they would call me back on Friday afternoon after they fixed the shipping issue. They never called on Friday, they never called me Monday or Tuesday. I had to resolve the issue directly with the shipper. I would never, ever buy anything from Cymax again. Their customer service is an absolute joke. I dont know how they can stay in business if this is how they treat their customers. And apparently they don't pay their shipping company.

I ordered a Homelegance Britanica Black Folding Bookcase back on Aug 13th along with 2 other items. I also got duped into the Free Shipping, will arive in 5-7 business days lie. Unfortunately although the first item shipped in around 10 days, the 2nd item took almost a month to get shipped and numerous calls. The final item had an "internal" issue that finally had a note posted that said would deliver before December 15th! This is a bookcase for my son in college. Waiting until December is pretty ridiculous! I requested numerous times to provide status, which never happened. Finally I just canceled the order and requested a refund. I'm still waiting on the refund and it's been over 2 weeks since I started this stupid process. Again, no CUSTOMER SERVICE. OUTRAGEOUS WAIT TIMES. ISSUES THAT ARE NOT IN OUR CONTROL. Please do not do business with this company. It's just not worth the time and energy required to get your items to you.
Update: Just today I received an email stating they were refunding $101.50. Where's the $12.50 they are shorting me? There is no restocking fee if you never sent the bookcase to me in the first place! This will never be ACCEPTABLE BUSINESS PRACTICE. I have requested ALL of my refund! RIDICULOUS! Do NOT deal with this highly unethical company. You just don't have enough time in your life to clean up their mess!

I waited seven days for my office furniture to arrive. When it came two out of four boxes had multiple damaged pieces. Called Cymax right away and had to wait for two hours to talk with a customer service rep. They put in a claim and sent me an e-mail; nevertheless, I haven't heard from them since. They are very unprofessional with poor customer service. It has been five days since I put in the complaint, I am still waiting, in the mean while all my old office furniture and computer are scattered all over my living room. Word of wisdom, do not buy from these poorly trained people with nothing in mind other than ripping consumers like me and you off.

Ordered TEMA Shell Rotating Shelving Unit "D" with Four Stacking Cubbyholes $$517.50 on July 9, 2011 and my credit card was debited immediately. Today it is August 10th - no shelve. Lots of unanswered questions; no call backs although requested; and many canned phrases from customer service. It is really questionable a company. Do not patronize. I have canceled and now await a refund.
Additionally I ordered a bed frame on line and cancelled it on August 3th and still have not received my $485.00 refund. I really feel fooled - don't you be too!

Everything I do with them turns out a mess. I buy loads of furniture on line. Overstock gets it out immediately and stays in touch. Give an order to Cymax and it goes into Cyber space.

would not ship order
I ordered and paid for (2) nightstand from Cymax Store 8 weeks ago, only received one. Called--emailed--called... Finally got a reorder only to have it set (in) processing for 4 of the last 8 weeks. To protect myself I filed a dispute with PayPal, more to get there attention then to stop the transaction. It didn't work they cancelled the order, now it's a fight to get my money back and I STILL WANT THE NIGHTSTAND? All they had to do was ship the thing, I can't understand it! All this has cost time and money.
Received chair back damage, please replace item as soon as possible

I received a defective bed from this company mere than 6 months ago..
They finely picked up the bed six weeks ago/. I still have not received my refund and now they tell me they don't have the info to do a refund?.
I was given a phone number to call to discuss my refund.. I have called the number and held as long as 45 minutes and no one ever answered?.
I heve contacted Cymax by email more then 40 times/. I've made more then 31 phone calls and 5 faxes to Cymax;. I have contacted the Attorney General of there state to report this unbeivealbe ordeal.

I ordered 5 custom bar stools that were never shipped. After weeks and repeated phone calls Cymax stated they might have an accounting issue or there was a production slow down at the manufacturer and wanted to refund my money.
I phoned the manufacture of the stools and they suggested I cancel the Cymax order and go through CSN. I found out that Cymax more than likely underpriced the stools and didn't want to honor their price - not enough profit.
Of course I ended up having to pay a higher price because the Cymax sale was over. Crappy company that can't tell the truth.
