bad attitude
Dairy Queen located at 2019 Pepperell Parkway in Opelika, Alabama 36801 I have gone to this particular Dairy Queen approximately 7 or eight times. Every time I have been in there the people who take orders do not smile and they behave as if they would rather be anywhere than there working a job. I have gone through the drive through on three occasions when there was no one eating inside the restaurant and absolutely no cars in the drive through lane yet the person on the intercom would immediately say "hold please" and not get back to me for a few minutes. I have talked with many other people where I work who all say they have the same problem at that Dairy Queen and that the people who work there are snotty and rude.
I had out of state company on December 19, 2004 and they all wanted to get come ice cream in the evening. We went to Dairy Queen. Two of us wanted a Hot Fudge Sundae with bananas and the waitress said they don't have that. I asked if they had any bananas and they did. The waitress said they can't put bananas on Hot Fudge Sundaes because the owner-manager won't let them. I told her I would gladly pay for the banana that went on it and she still said she couldn't make them that way. I asked her if she would sell me a banana so I could put it on there myself and she said she couldn't do that. The two of us who wanted the Hot Fudge Sundae with bananas ordered a banana split with all hot fudge on them even though it was more than we wanted to eat. Then the waitress said they were out of nuts and whipped cream but they charged the same price as if the toppings were on there. The waitress was very rude during the whole encounter.
I know that all Dairy Queen's are not run in this manner because my Son and Daughter-in-law said the Dairy Queen in Auburn, Indiana would make them a certain sundae that they didn't have up there, but that they used to get here in Opelika, AL. She said they asked how it was made and even what price they charged so that they could make it for them.
This Dairy Queen is a disgrace to this area, who is trying to promote good will and growth.

assistant manager talking
I recently quit my job as manager for very personal reasons and i am now getting phone calls about the new assistant manager. These calls are not only from friends but also from loyal customers that tell me that this woman is bad trashing my name. We live in a small town everyone knows everyone and my customers will always be important and I dont appreciate this kind of name trashing not only for myself or for my husband. I will notify the cooperate office and also the new manager in charge. I have no regrets and I also hold no hard feelings to the new manager. But when it comes down to my getting phone calls from customers then there is something with the management. I appreciate everything that Jane and Wade did for me and my husband.

[protected] around 2 P.M. I visited as a daily customer and was watching as they were having trouble with the ice cream machine nearly the same time, right after i got my ice cream, i went and seated myself to a table to enjoy my desert and saw a girl with long black hair running to the front of the building look like she was in her mid 40s screaming for someone to go and smash a big cockroach meanwhile she was cursing at one of her co-workers because they wouldn't do it for her. Every worker looked like they were on drugs and it smelled the marijuana from the workers walking to take my order. I would very much appreciate it if these problems would be taken care of and everyone be drug tested for the safety of your future customers.
We went to Dairy Queen ordered our food and was first overcharged then the cashier did not have the change fund to give me the change back so I gave her the coins and expected her to know to give me back the bill, but she couldn't because she could not count the money from what she had in her hand and what was on the register. This is not an a one time happening at this location I have been overcharged and shorted change on a average of every second to third time I visit this store. When called on this they throw a fit and act like I am a pariah on society. Too bad for them I am a
business owner in the area and have lots of contacts myself and the word will get out to watch your money or try the other location in Austell or at Avenue West. The main problem is this was a family member of the owner not a regular employee who would have been fired for lack of knowledge. Oh well family comes first I hope they remember that when the bills come due.
Two of us went to the Dairy Queen located on Valley Blvd. in Bloomington, CA. We placed a simple order of a Chicken Salad and a Cheeseburger and fries. 15 minutes later we noticed they were serving numbers past ours. We inquired and they told us our order was not ready yet because a salad takes a long to to prepare .
Hmmm.. let's see, lettuce, tomato, some cheese and chicken! They brought us our order about 5 minutes later. Instead of a bowl that the salad comes in they had ripped off the top of a box and put it in there. This made it very difficult to eat and I had to throw the remainder of my salad away because it couldn't be transported in a leaking box! The cashier said she would inform the manager of our 20 minute wait, but the manager didn't even have the decency to come out and appologize. I will never frequent this place again and probably never go to another Dairy Queen again. I find Sonic as good, and their ice cream is better.
While visiting the Dairy Queen in Wellston, Ohio on 08-18-08, they were out of vanilla ice cream. I don't know for how long they had been out. I can't imagine running out of ice cream at a Dairy Queen. This store also has the dirtiest windows I have ever seen in a food business. This is a constant problem. The employees also don't have sanitary
habits. On this date. I don't think they even knew we were in and out after reading the sign stating they were out of vanilla ice cream. We won't eat any food products at this Dairy Queen, because of the problems mentioned. We have always liked the Dairy Queen products and this is the closest one to us.
I have been a customer at this Dairy Queen for several years. My family and I have been coming in at least twice a week to have dinner. We are always happy about how we are treated and are service is normally great. But for about the past month I have realized that we have been have been waiting a few minutes long and the employees don't seem as respectful as before. I understand that you have had a quite change of employees for the past few weeks, but that is none of my concern. I am writing to you about a certain individual. I believe that she is a manager and to my knowledge she has not been there very long. She seems to be the manager working everytime my family and I come in, but I realized that she really doesn't help out her co-workers. To me this is a concern because I do come in very often and I believe there should be something done about this. Usually when we come in your crew is rather busy but I don't mind the wait. This certain person is always walking around and seems to do nothing! I notice this everytime I come in. The last time I was in the restaurant she was asked by a few coworkers for help and she would say okay and just walk away. As a manager she should be as helpful as possible with whatever she can do. Instead She gives then attitude and seems very rude. I have been in your restaurant very frequently lately and I have not once seen her take someones order or make it. One incident when I came in one afternoon her and another manager I suppose, took an employee away to talk to her and they were telling this employee how she wasn't doing anything right and she was to slow. I understand that there is a point when to say something and when to put someone down. When I come in I observe, and I have figured out this managers name is Cher. I believe that this woman should be talked to. I believe that some changes should be made with the way your employees treat each other. I understand that sometimes I could come in on a bad day but everyone should be treated with some respect. As I said my family and I are loyal customers at your store and there should be no reason for us to not come back.
At approximately 12:55 p.m. after church service, I went to the loction noted above and ordered a large caramel malt with no milk added. The worker completed the order and then informed the male manager that she had done so and discribed the order. Immediately, the manager became upset and expressed himself in an angry tone and instructed the worker to discard the malt and start over making the new one with milk. As the worker explained once more that I did not want milk, the manager stated, "I don't care, make it with milk". I observed this discussion and it did not conclude until I tapped on the window, advised that I could here the discussion, and requested that the order be canceled and my money be returned. I did not understand the manager's level of upset. I am certain the the amount of icecream served fot the malt is the same with or without milk. It was distrubing to observe his behavior and tone.
I ordered two small blizzards. They are currently advertising a special where the second blizzard equal or smaller size is $0.99. I pull up to the drive thru window and they only charged me for one. I then tell the gentleman that I ordered two he then charges my credit card for the second one. I check my receipt and he charges the second one at full price without even telling me. I then explain to him that the second blizzard is only suppose to be $0.99 and he tells me there is nothing he can do but leave a note for the day shift manager. I told him it was unacceptable and that I wanted to speak with a manager. He tells me he is the manager on duty. How can a manager not be trained to fully operate his/her shift?
On July27, my mother-in-law, a friend and I were traveling and stopped at the Dairy Queen in Town Creek, Al. The employees acted as though they didn't want to wait on us and they were in no hurry to get the orders out. There was one out front and two in the back and they all acted as though they had other things to do, like talking! They just stopped what they were doing and starting talking to each other. I was not the only unhappy customer. My friend got her order and was almost done with it before we got ours. Will never stop there again!
I was making a complaint without being rude and was getting a refund for a last perchas I had made. The manager kept trying to make excuses for the mistake that had happened and well i'm five months pregnant and I cannot get upset so I kept saying I didn't want to hear it. And that igt was ok and that I didn't care anymore and when I was about to drive off the manager yells to me fatass. I need help I want to know what can be done and I want that manager to understand that if she is working in a public place where she treats customers she should not speak like that.
I had ordered some food through the drive thru, and a young lady had taken my order. She was a bit snippy that I had taken a while to order, and seemed upset with me. She handed me my ice cream like she was shoving it into my face and had a sarcastic tone to everything she said to me. I asked her for some napkins and she gave me a huge stack, most likely to shut me up. I told her I didn't need that many and she scoffed after she closed the window.I would expect a little more cordial response, because I am a customer. I was not rude to her, nor did I make her job any harder, her job is to serve me. Also, the ice cream, which I ordered a peanut butter cup blizzard, had almost NO CANDY in it. All in all, her demeanor was unpleasant therefore making me have an unpleasant day. I don't think I'll be visiting this Dairy Queen again.
Thank you for your time.
rudeness of establishment
The following a copy of the letter I have forwarded to dairy queen's Corporate Office as well as the Owner and District Manager for our area. I purchased a blizzard for my son and once we got home, he bit into something very hard. There was a peice of metal off of the shelving inside his icecream. Luckily he was not hurt, but this could have been a deadly mistake. How can an employee be so careless. After returning to the store with the metal, I was refunded my money. Wow. My son could have choked or been severly injured and the manager gave me my three dollars back. How thoughtful of him.
PLEASE BEWARE. Someone may choke next time. I will never return to any Dairy Queen again.

Anything could get metal in it. The blizzards are mixed with metal machines. Yes, it could have been dangerous but it's not anyone's fault...
blames customer for their mistakes
I called in to order a cheesecake blizzard cake for a birthday. Thinking everything was good we cut into it and it's their nasty basic chocolate cake. I called them to see what happened and to get it fixed and they consistently sd that I didn't specify I wanted the cheesecake cake. When I called I told the 1st person on the phone that I wanted to order a cheesecake cake then I guess they gave the phone to someone else to complete my order. I don't know how I was supposed to know this. So because of there laziness and lack of communication they just ordered me what they wanted me to eat. So I have this cake that we don't want. I called the manager and she kept blaming me for it saying I should of specified, which I did, what cake and it's my fault. The only way they will give me a refund is if I have the whole cake to bring back. I told her I do have a child and she expected after happy birthday to eat a piece of her daddys cake so she ate a piece, but the rest of it is there. She sd she wouldn't give me a refund since it's been cut even once, I guess they just resell the old cakes that people brought back, and how was I supposed to know I have the wrong cake w/out cutting into it. The "owner" kept argueing w/ me like a child, going huhhhhhh and blaming me for the whole situation. She obviously don't care about her business and her customers. This is the 1st time I bought a DQ cake and the last. Probably even the last time I eat at any location. Myself working in customer service I couldn't believe how she was treating me. It's like she wants her business to go down and if I was Dairy Queen I would NOT let her be an example of my business.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
This is absolutely horrible! I can't believe she wouldn't give you a refund! But please, don't blame all DQ stores. The store I work at would have fixed it. That has actually happened before and it was fixed. So give DQ in general another chance.
My god. As I have said many times, each DQ is individually owned/operated. They can do whatever they want as far as customer service goes. Why would you not ever eat at any DQ because of this. Dont blame all of them because of what this one does.
closed during business hours for time longer than stated on note.
It was 7:55 pm Tuesday evening 11/11/08. Sign on door stating "Will be back in 10 minutes." I waited for 15 Minutes and no one came back at the time that was stated. Door was locked and all the lights were on in the store. Left the property and returned home. I don't think the store should have been left without an attendant there.

And wanted me to bring it back. Then the store manger, there called my sister back and said that she lied to them about it after a couple hours like give me a break please. I will never go back to that store because that dont even care about what was in my food. And the manger was making my sister very mad and disrespectlful to her and i got really mad then and, the fact they did not fix the problem and very rude. And he tried to say there was no way because of a camera there. So i would like you to email me back please.

rude manager/employees
A friend and I went through the drive through of dairy queen in wilmar, mn. After waiting for about five minutes, we finally were attended to. First, I ordered a plain cheesecake blizzard the employee was confused and asked if I had ordered a banana cheesecake blizard. I replied, no plain cheesecake. She then replied, is that all. I then said no and ordered another plain cheesecake blizard with brownie. We pulled up to the window, paid-the total was $6.83. She was obviously still confused as she came back to the window a second time. We explained to her that by plain we meant no strawberries! Five minutes later, a different employee came to the window with our blizzards. One strawberry cheeseake and one strawberry with brownie. I looked over to my friend and before I said a word, she acknowledged that she had made the wrong blizards. We watched them discuss the situation as she returned to the group of four other employees. We waited another five minutes and a older man came to the window, we assumed he was the manager. Before asking us what happened, he accused us of being confused and confusing his workers. He did not hear our order and treated like small children. He told us to take the strawberry blizards and leave. He would not give us a refund. After arguing with him for five mintues, I was so upset I just drove away. At this point it was not the icecream I was upset about-it was the service! We pulled into the parking lot to discuss what should be done. We decided to return to the drive through and ask to be treated as normal customers and just reorder. We were told to wait one moment. The man we had preveiously encountered stormed out of the back door to approach us at our car. He told us to drive up to the window so there would be no confussion about "strawberries, cheesecake, bananas, or brownies". We told him we would like to be treated like anyother costumer and we would like to reorder. He replied in a rude manor "well thanks for the business". We drove up to the window again to pay for the same order-we paid $7.28! A different price than the first time! We are submitting this not because of the wrong order but because of how digusted we were with how we were treated!
I work at a dairy queen. You shouldn't have been treated like that. It's no big deal if the order was wrong, we just throw the wrong one out and make a new one, blizzards are really easy to make. The customer always comes first.
raw hamburger
Today i stopped at dairyqueen restaurant at the willowbrook mall location. It took about 15 minutes to get our meal and on the second bite of my ultimate burger i noticed that the meat was badly undercooked. I returned the burger and asked for a refund. They reluctantly refunded my money with a simple "sorry". They didn't bother to offer me another product to replace the under cooked one. I returned to my seat to finish my pop and fries when the couple sitting near us also noticed their burger was under cooked. This is a dangerous practice for a restaurant to continue doing especially with ground beef. I tried to find a contact number on dairy queen's web site but had no success finding one. What do they have to hide?
Raw meat!
mold on chili dog buns
I ordered two chili cheese dogs to go, as I was taking my second bite I could taste somthing different. Upon examination I found mold on the bun of both. If the chili had covered all of said mold who knows. I took the food back to store and they returned my money and laughed. No apology was offered... only embarassment. I have been frequenting DQs for thirty years. Sorry to say, that will be the last time. I will not fail in my attempt to explain to all who will listen what great food and service I recieved on the aforementioned day. The next time someone is in this type of situation I reccomend that the money is returned and a heartfelt apology is given forthwith. Along with that a coupon of extra may stop that customer from moving forward as I fully intend. The Everett health department is my next stop as wellas the better business bureau.
tv commercial
I want to know why, when you advertise something on TV, why the Dairy Queens do not adhere to the ad.
We went to our local Dairy Queen to purchase two of the Peanut Buster Parfaits that you are advertising on TV. When we got there, we were told by the "kids" working there that the manager did not want to go along with the ad.
I think when a company advertises something then all of it's franchises should adhere to the advertisement. This is not the first time this has happened at this Dairy Queen.
Needless to say, we left without buying anything. Besides, where was the manager? Nothing but young kids in there.
Perhaps that is why service is sometimes very slow.
I hope that this problem can be corrected because we do like Dairy Queen products.
Thank you.
Ads always say participating restaurants only. Maybe you should call and confirm next time...
Notice the "At participating DQ restaurants" part please.
It's difficult sometimes for every store to keep up with advertisements on TV... franchise owners have the option of adhering to certain promotions, and they do what they think is best for their store. It's unfortunate that you didn't get the product you wanted, but it would be unrealistic [and a poor business practice] to expect every store to be able to keep up with every nation-wide promotion.
rude customer service
Took my two children to Dairy Queen this afternoon. I had no choice but to use my debit card since I had no cash on me. When I was informed that there would be a .75 cent charge I very nicely told the girl " I know this is not your fault, but please tell the owner or manager that I will not come here again if you are going to charge for using my debit card". She rolled her eyes and SLAMMED the window shut. I later called and asked to speak to owner or manager and was told there is no manager and I would have to call back in morning. Left name and #. I doubt owner will even get it. I asked why there is no manager on duty, which I find hard to believe if I am not mistaken this is a health code violation. Having managed a restaurant for 7 years, I believe there always has to be a manager on store site with food managers card. If I don't hear from owner, I will call health dept. I was also told there are "no managers" because "we are all equals here". I am now a teacher and I want to know what ever happened to respect, especially for adults. Maybe these kids should not have a job. I have lived in this town all my life and know a lot of people and will relate my experience to many! I think I have a right to voice my opinion about the .75 cent charge and tried to do so nicely and had window slammed in my face. Flagstaff is an expensive town and I will not be spending my hard earned money at the only Dairy Queen left in this town!
K, this is why my store wont use the "debit" option on the machine. Just tell them to run it through as credit and it wont charge it. And really, try to work at DQ or any fast food for a day, you get yelled at and stuff all the time over stupid things. It can get frustrating..
Someone call the WHAAAAAAAAMBULANCE!
food poisoning
Well to put it frankly I will never ever go to Dairy Queen again! I went out to lunch with my fiancee and our son for lunch at around 1pm and I ordered a classic burger with fries and a root beer and my fiancee order a flamethrower with fries and pepsi. My burger was severely dry to start with. At this point it is 12:19am and I am sitting here with a bucket...

I take my 2 grandchildren every Sunday after church to Dairy Queen for Sundaes. I have for about 6 months now. Today we did the usual, only this time about half way thru a sundae my grandaughter took a bite and ended up with a dead beetle in the middle of her ice cream. I went in to speak to a manager. One of the crew members took the sundae to the back. She returned and said it must have flown in thru a window in my car. First off my windows were up and second the beetle was dead soaked in ice cream. We only had the sundaes a few mins. it was less then half eaten. They did offer a refund or new sundae! A new sundae knowing that their ice cream had a dead bug in it! What ever happen to hygene? Instead of getting upset I am posting this... I will not eat there again as much as I love their food!
