Cancellation practices
I cancelled my service after five years. They claimed I owed a termination fee. I refused to pay it. They sent the charge to collection. I tried to explain that we shouldn't owe a cancellation fee after five years. The collections people said I had to prove I didn't owe a collection fee after five years, that there must have been something in the "terms and conditions" that I didn't read. They suggested that you automatically enter into a new contract every two years. That's ridiculous. They reported the $146 to the credit agencies. This is no way to do business.
Desired outcome: Take the negative off my credit report.
monthly bill
Dish bill has increased! ~50% increase.
I have been a dish customer for over 20 years. DISH has rewarded by loyalty by increasing my rates.
Spoke with the customer loyalty department at least twice... they are happy to lose me as a customer. They only give the best rates to new customers not to the loyal ones!
Interesting business practice reminds me of blockbuster video...

billing
These people are crooks. I had ordered the NBA package last year not this year. With the NBA the way it is and being broke I can't afford it nor want it. They auto charged me for it $200. I didn't even realize I had it either. I hadn't watched any games. Went to pay the bill and seen the charge. I contacted them and they said no problem we can take it off. They didn't. I called back and again was told yes it will be taken off. They didn't. Called a 3rd time to be told they can not take it off that I have to pay for it. So now I pay or get my TV shut off. Horrible service. To lose a long time customer over $200 is sad. Oh well. Stay clear of them people.
Desired outcome: take it off the bill
channel 252 justice
BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU !This is a channel in the package that I pay for, it is my favorite channel, none of the suggested channels have what I am interested in, why am I expected to pay full price for the bill when I am not getting what was offered in the package I ordered. If I do not get an answer I will contact the BBB to file a complaint. It is utterly ridiculous that you say you suggest more characters or it may not be responded to. I will spend my day looking into other company's in my area, I am a long time customer but that does not seem to matter, word of mouth is everything and I have nothing good to say about dish like I use to. I am cc to the better bureau, I know they want me to try to resolve the issue before they get involved, that is what I am attempting to do with this ? 350 character complant.
Desired outcome: A deduction in my bill or free movies
I agree...when you go to Mcdonald you expect to get 1/4 pounder if you pay for that, not an 1/8 of a pounder
Service was turned off for no reason
My contract is running out next month. I called several days ago to see if I could get a new one. The girl I spoke to was not helpful at all. Today I called again. To find out exactly what day my contract is over. The gentleman I spoke to was very pushy. He was trying to get me to take a package he was offering. He wouldn't stop talking I finally said I had to go said goodbye and hungup. I just went to turn on my tv and my channels were gone. I called dish and the automated asked if I wanted to turn it on. That is very shifty of this man to turn off my channels because I didn't want to listen to him. Please send me some boxes so I can return all my equipment back on feb 11. I will not be getting fish anymore.
lying customer service, programming and poor escallation process
35 wait time to talk to an offshore rep that compensated me 1 year free show time and change from Epix to HBO for free. The $20 savings per month would erase fees increase and keep my bill the same. The 50 minute call with several on hold for 5 minutes each would have been fine... Two days later no HBO... I called again and found out they don't carry HBO and they can not give a year of programming away. I escalated the call, because the original rep should get some training or be accountable. The manager was like he read from a script! He could care less about me or my 37 YEARS of service. He provided no empathy and commitment to address the root problem so I canceled my premium subscription and will look at Charter - At least I will save money. In reading all of the recent complaints it is clear that they have lost their customer service soul. So sad.
Desired outcome: To make sure that rep that dealt with me is contacted for intentionally lying to me to make me waste my time.
Dish Network steals from the dead!
Dish is required by law to backdate disconnection to the date of death and refund any money paid for services rendered after that date.
It took them 8 1/2 months to refund my Dad's money.
I had to write over 65 letters to various state Attorneys General, I called Dish over 55 times, I spoke to 25 different Dish employees, yet they still refused to refund my money.
The only reason Dish refunded my money, after 8 1/2 months, is because eight different State Attorneys General wrote letters to them on my behalf.
Their actions are not only illegal, they are morally reprehensible!
Dave Simons spent six months lying to me, the BBB and eight Attorneys General, all in an attempt to steal from my dead Daddy.
Desired outcome: Stop stealing from the dead.
The service kept going out on me so I canceled the service in December 2019.
I the service was cancelled In December and I returned the equipment with the boxes that were set to me. Your company is now saying that I did not cancel service, yet at the same time they sent me the required boxes to return the equipment. I did just that and now your company is saying I didn't return the equipment. I am requesting a refund of my money that was taken out of my banking account. I am a pastor of a church and have no need to tell the truth concerning this matter. I also went with another provider on 9 December 2019. Why would I sign up for two services at the same time.
Desired outcome: That I receive a refund for service that was not provided to me.
I have been lied to!
Dish took down channels 32 and 9 some of my local channels. I layer received an email stating all of the local channels had been restored. I still don't have channel 9 NBC. I spoke with a customer service representative from Dish and she told me NBC wasn't back on because another service besides mission broadcasting took the channel down. I looked at your dishpromise.com website and it states that Mission Broadcasting is the company that took it down. I have been so upset about Dish from the beginning I lost so many channels I had with DirectTV and now have to pay for local that I don't have. I just want to cancel my Dish without paying the cancelation fee because I have been done wrong. Betsy Segovia [protected]
Desired outcome: Want yo cancel without canceling fee.
Accounting/billing issue
Both of my September and Octobers Dish payments, each for 100.64 from my CitiCards Acct, which was previously cancelled, were not deposited into My Dish Acct and have not been posted. I have forwarded to dish on 1/5/21 copies of these checks stamped, for deposit only, and in addition I have forwarded copies of my checking account statements showing that the two CitiCard payments were posted to my checking account with two additional payments made from my checking account for the same months of September and October. At this time, Dish has decided to chargeback these amounts, and since the CitiBank payments were not posted, my Dish account shows a balance to be due of 201.28. All of the detail was mailed to Dish, PO Box 94063, Palantine, IL 60094 per Customer Service. After numerous calls, Customer service and Supervisors, five in total could not or refused to help.
Please help,
Sincerely,
Joseph Henrich
Desired outcome: Dish, please post 201.28 to my account to correct your Accounting.
Service
I called to have dish installed and before I agreed to have it installed I asked the representative if they have fox sports Arizona. His answer was ‘YES' he lied. I agreed to get the service not thinking I was gonna be lied to. I check my channels and it's nowhere to be seen. I call back to ask what was happening..? ? The next representative told me that Fox Sports Arizona was part of my local channels and I that I have to pay extra for them...12/month. Okay whatever I agreed, I'm browsing over my local channels it's nowhere to be seen...so she lied and up sold me, with no regards for the customer. I call back and and to ask what was going on. The guy's tone sounded like he was blaming us for the mistake. Whatever I just want Fox Sports Arizona at this point I'm tired of calling back and having put on hold and annoyed that they all have been lying to me about the programming...I ask the guy...'What channel is Fox Sports Arizona'? And he doesn't have an answer and insists he is still looking up that information. (it's been like 10 minutes) claims computer is slow. He finally responds with'You do have Fox spirts Arizona in your channel lineup, Is there anything else I can help you with'? Hangs up the phone and at this point I'm annoyed and frustrated by the lying service, I don't wanna call back...I felt like I was lied to, To get the service and to this day I don't have the channel all 3 representatives claimed I do...):
Desired outcome: Cancel my service at No Charge!!!
Rude customer service: hung up on me twice
Received a bill less than a week after installation with a due date another week away. When I tried to find out why, the representative hung up on me. When I called back, the second guy couldn't resolve the problem and then hung up on me when I asked to speak to a supervisor. So I can't speak to anyone in customer service that can help and there isn't anywhere on the DISH website to complain. How convenient.
Desired outcome: Resolve the problem or come get your crap
I never received what I needed to return equipment and now I am being hit with a huge bill
I was in a domestic violence situation. I had the dish account. I called dish and explained that it was imperative that they not give my abuser my new address or phone number and that I would take the equipment to my new address, so return boxes should be mailed there. Suspicious after 2 weeks, I called again. No record of my change address/new phone number/box mailing request. Called again 2 more times, same story. Finally, an employee told me that changing information was not easy and so people probably had been telling me that they were changing the data bit actually weren't. So, I was lied to. No one ever had my new address or telephone number when I called. One person said there was a "glitch" with mailing boxes to a different address. It's 2020. What does "glitch" mean? I do not want to pay $400 to dish for equipment. If I failed to pay my bill, that tv was shut off. It should go both ways. I needed the boxes to return mail the equipment - they did not hold up their end of the contract. I have had dish 3 times. I will never recommend dish service now because of this. Leaving on the run, I took that stupid [censored]ing dish equipment and left behind photos of my daughter, pets, etc.. To make room in my little honda fit for the dumb dish receiver/hopper/remote. Please help.
Poor service, dropped stations and intimidation to a 89 year old!
My mother is 89 years old and cancelled Dish. They dropped her Japanese stations and replaced them with a looped programs. Now they dropped her 2 favorite local stations. She is absolutely disgusted with them. We called to cancel and were then placed on hold for almost an hour. Then they tried to convince her for over 15 minutes to keep Dish. Then they out and out lied telling her the other satellite service didn't have her stations either. We found out later they did. I have never heard my mother utter "hate" about a company or person till now. I wonder how many other people Dish is intimidating to remain with them?
Loss of cbs
I have had dish network in my home for well over 20 years. I am very upset at the loss of the CBS network. When i signed up for dish, i chose a package that included CBS. Now that they have decided to drop this channel, where is my discount and refund for not getting what i paid for. It is completely ridiculous that they charge the money they do and then can decide to drop channels without consulting their customers who are the heart of their business. This problem should be resolved very quickly before other like myself decide that directv and local cable companies look better everyday
yes! and charged me early termination fee of $120 when there solution was this dumb antenna thing!
Removing channels
This has pasted the time of screw customers. When I agreed to subscribe to dish, they agreed to furnish specific channels. They have blamed everyone but the real culprit. No talk of a refund, only a very unprofessional President tell us that the channels are removed because the owners want to increase pricing. BS. Dish sends some character to tell us, the subscribers, why we have lost the channels. All I see is a man making excuses, dressed as though he had just completed working on his car. This has to stop. We have had no access to any ABC programing and now WGN. Can anyone help, the problem is Dish management, not ABC or WGN..
Loss of local networks
I've lost my local ABC (KODE Channel 12) affiliate, now NBC's (KSNF Channel 16) local affiliate is gone as well. I have no control over this nonsense when it comes to networks and Dish, however, I do have control over Dish being my source of local channels. Dish will boast that they are doing this to keep, my cost down, however, my bill inches and increases up month by month while my channel options fall off Dish's list daily. By the way, Dish is going to insist on charging me $12.00 for my local channels on my December bill (I've gone from 4 channels to 2)... guess what, they can kiss my [censored]!
Programming
I pay extra to receive my local channels and now Dish cannot come to an agreement with the owners of CBS in my network thus CBS is no longer aired on Dish. My local NFL Green Bay Packers broadcasts on CBS and I am unable to view the games. I feel since I have to pay extra to get my local channels I should receive a credit or be able to watch all of them.
Music channels
Dish must provide about 50 (I didn't count) different music channel selections including many christmas holiday choices. I checked every "christmas" music channel, they have jazz, traditional, soul, and a bunch of others but, of all the channels available, not one has any selections for christmas carols with music about what christmas is all about. Are christians and their christmas music, like silent night, what child is this, o come all ye faithful, o holy night and others, not being offered in fear of offending someone. Please, give me a break with this pc crap! There are plenty of selections for everybody. I wish there was a way to get to dish directly instead of their customer service line where you can't understand 90% of the reps that answer.
Local channels that are off air and the term of a $10 promo allowance
I have cancelled my local channel subscription due to the dispute with whoever. Why don't you call ABC or NBC Terre Haute IN and then bed immediately transfer to Dish Network. No answer from anyone. We in my location can only receive local from Terre Haute IN so I am screwed. Also since I have been without ABC for months I want my promo credit of $10 that ended on 12/20 renewed until you get these problems resolved. I watch channel 252 and it is gone. NO sports, no specials now on local I am done being used. I am retired, limited on travel and going out to eat at a restaurant. TV entertainment is all I have plus my movie channels which stink, GIVE ME A BREAK. I am reducing my bill by the $12 for dropping local channel until resolved plus a $10 credit to renew my promo credit until you get the issues resolved. People are tired of being screwed over. Please respond. My acct#PJDuncan [protected].
