DISH Network Supportive team and good career growth

I recently joined DISH as a customer service representative and my experience has been quite positive. The training was thorough, equipping me with the skills needed to handle various customer scenarios. My team is supportive and the management genuinely cares about our professional growth. The work environment is dynamic, which keeps things interesting. While the job can be challenging at times, especially during peak hours, the sense of accomplishment when resolving customer issues is rewarding. Overall, a good place to start or develop your career.

DISH Network Being charged

I called to cancel my Dish and the guy I was speaking with gave me such a hard time. It took me over 30 min to get my service cancelled. He didn't want to cancel my service. Then he told me that it's going to cost me $20 to send the equipment back and he wants me to get up on the roof and take something off of the dish. I'm too old to be crawling around on the roof to get a part off the dish. Also I get a notice this morning that I'm being charged for 1 day of service even though I cancelled the day before my next billing cycle.

Recommendation: I would never recommend Dish and I was with them for over 15 years

DISH Network Dish TV Gift Card

I switched from Directv to Dish responding to a DISH offer for a high dollar gift card and a 3 yr price freeze guarantee. After going through a lot of hoops and submitting my Directv bill DISH finally gave me a message my gift card would be mine after my first bill was paid. So now into several paid DISH bills and no gift card I keep contacting DISH to complain. Today I got as far as online chat with DISH and was told my case would be escallated and I would get an email as to what the resolution would be.

Then the rep told he would activate a premium service for a 30 day trial which I could cancel after the trial period. I told him " STOP DONT ACTIVATE ANYTHING SEND ME MY GIFT CARD". I see a lot of complaints here about DISH not making good on the gift card so I am beginning to believe the card offer was either a scam or since DISH is horrible financial shape simply isn't paying off on the gift card. Horrible company. Too much time and effort chasing the gift card.

DISH Network Scam Artist

Dish Network offers packages that include local channels and offer this package for a time frame contract. They will keep the price the same, but may remove channels (local or others within the package). Dish will not remove the termination fee if the removal of channels does not meet with you. Once you agree to their service you are responsible for the termination fee. the are not honest!

Recommendation: Do not use DISH!

DISH Network Dish want to charge me for early cancellation even though my house was destroyed by fire.

My house in New Mexico and all of it's contents was totally destroyed by a wildfire in June of last year. At that time, I put my Dish service on pause until I decided if I wanted to rebuild or purchase another home in Ruidoso. My wife and I decided not to do either, so last month I called Dish to cancel my service. Even with these special circumstances, Dish still wants to charge me an early cancellation fee.
This is totally ridiculous that they show no compassion for our loss and the toll that this disaster has taken on us. I will never again do business with Dish Network.

Claimed loss: Total lost of home and all the contents.

Desired outcome: Cancel all fees that Dish wants to charge me due to the above circumstances.

DISH Network Customer service

I had called the number listed on the website for Dish Network. I spoke to an extremely rude rep, I was hoping to move from Direct TV to Dish. She wanted me to purchase their plan immediately. When I advised that I wanted to speak to my spouse first, she questioned why not purchase first and discuss it later. I stated that I would not be doing that and she hung up on me. I called back to complain and spoke to a supervisor named Josh. Just as rude. Basically said I don't have a Whitney here. Your phone number isn't registering but when you call the number listed on the website, you can be directed anywhere. My reply was that I am unable to complain about your reps because you can't tell me who I spoke with. Josh replied that I can try and call customer service but he can't help me. I notified Josh that I would file online. He simply said, "if that's what you feel you need to do" and disconnected. Absolutely the worst customer service. If they can't tell you who you called or where your call is going, how can you trust them to help with your service. This is the 2nd time that I have attempted to go with Dish and they are showing why I should never use Dish. Cionsumers beware.

DISH Network Loyal cust hopper dvr; Joey receiver; dish protect; - this equipment is unreliable and just garbage

I lose access to tv programming that I am paying for frequently. I reboot this equipment and it takes me on average an hour to obtain access a TV picture again. I call the [protected] number for tech support and they are useless. I am charged $30.99 for this equipment and service protections every single month and I have to try to get this equipment to work myself. I asked to have the equipment replaced and was informed they would charge me another $100 for a Hopper+ replacement. This is outrageous! I will drop Dish as soon as my 24 month price lockin is completed and readily tell everyone to not use Dish for TV services.

Claimed loss: $30.99 for every month my Dish services are compromised

Desired outcome: Reimburse me for loss services and replace the equipment with new technology at no additional cost to me.

DISH Network Equipment, incomplete explanations, lack of understanding from customer service

I am a 78-year-old widow living on a very limited income (Social Security and income from a small, part-time job at my church). I have been a Dish customer for many years as the subscription rates have continued to rise. I chose to try a streaming service this past fall for a cheaper rate. During that time I received a notice that the streaming service rates were going up. I also received a flyer in the mail from Dish with several new plans and the opportunity to receive a $500 gift card, which I have not even pursued until it was mentioned to me last Friday, January 3, 2025, that it was about to expire.

I decided to go back to Dish again and called for an installation appointment. I stated I wanted all new equipment since having been gone for such a short period of time I wanted to start fresh. At that time I was not told that my Hopper (?) would not contain the Amazon Prime app that I had had before.

The tech arrived on Saturday, November 4, 2024, and I also questioned him about the equipment being installed. He, at no time mentioned that my Hopper (?) would not have the Amazon Prime app. During our conversation I mentioned my sound bar which was a cheaper model from Walmart. He stated that Dish had a sound bar on sale and would I like to see it. Without thinking of what this would do to my finances, I okayed the installation. On that day, 11-4, I paid Dish $277.29 for the sound bar which has proved to me to be no better than the previous one. The tech stated to me that my monthly rate would be $104.81with taxes, etc. My first payment taken out of my bank account on November 18, 2024, was $124.89. I called stating that this amount was not what I was quoted and was assured it would be different next month. On December 18, 2024, $120.69 was taken out of my account which is still a far cry from what I was quoted when I called to set up the appointment and what the tech quoted.

Two days after my installation I received notices in the mail that my health insurance and home insurance premiums were going up quite a bit. I called Dish to see if there was any way possible I could get out of my contract since it was so new. I explained my financial situation and the things that had conspired (also received notices about increases in car and dental insurance). I was met with an emphatic "no" but was offered cheaper plans than the 200-channel plan I had chosen. As I stated before, my only entertainment is TV and books so I chose not to consider other offers. Since then, after getting the 200-channel plan, I have counted 30 channels that are nothing but infomercials and sales networks. So sad! I spoke with a person in another department other than customer service and was also told an emphatic "no" regarding the contract but, again, was offered cheaper plans.

On Friday, January 3, 2025, I called Dish again stating I had tried everything to get the Amazon app and that was when I was told that my equipment did not support the Amazon app. I was told I could upgrade my receiver and pay more. That was the last straw and was when I decided to file my complaint.

All I'm asking is to be free of this contract. I cannot afford the amount I'm being charged for the service I am receiving. I feel I was misled when I specifically asked for the same service I had before. Thank you.

Desired outcome: Release from contract please. No different plan, no equipment upgrade, just no more Dish please.

DISH Network Free netflix isn't free if you don't have right equipment

Dish has been advertising Netflix for free (with ads) with a 2 year commitment . So, on Thursday Jan 2 I called and had it added, everything seemed to work ok on both the tv and laptop. I didn't watch anything on Thursday but on Friday I tried to log in and got the error "To watch on this device, change your plan at Netflix.com/Change plan error code: E118". On Saturday Jan 4 I called Dish and was told that Dish was well aware of this error and the Hopper with Sling doesn't support this and that I if I wanted it on the TV I would need to upgrade my equipment and of course, at a cost or, upgrade to a paying Netflix subscription. My equipment if I pay for a Netflix subscription will work but not or a free subscription? That doesn't even make sense. I asked the representative didn't most of the customers have the hopper with sling and she replied yes so if that's the case, any customers who want Netflix for free have to upgrade and pay for the equipment or pay for Netflix (which then isn't free). Dish knows what equipment I have and the rep on Thursday even mentioned that I had the Hopper with sling. If they knew that that equipment was not compatible, why, was I even allowed to add it on to my account and get locked into a 2-year commitment? I have been a Dish customer for nearly 20 years and was thanked for that on Thursday and that can be verified through my account #. It does work ok on my laptop but that's not where I want to watch Netflix. Screen to small! I declined any offers to pay more. I fill like I'm being scammed.

Claimed loss: stuck in a 2-year commitment

Desired outcome: Remove me from my 2-year commitment or send me the compatible equipment at no cost to me as Dish should have verified my equipment since they are well aware of this error.

DISH Network Dish subscription

I switched from Direct TV to Dish on October 24. Everything I am writing was recorded. My two items I wanted was local channels and access to the Golden State Warriors. I also stated that I do not have strong Wi-Fi where I live.
The technician came the next day. The first thing he had to do was call and reorder the equipment because I received equipment that had to have Wi-Fi. After everything was installed and he left I had no local channels and had to call and pay more. Then I found out I could not get the Warriors that night. I called again and I needed to pay more money. By this time, I was beside myself and felt they had misled me on my subscription. I would not have changed services if I had known I could not get the channels I wanted without paying additional money. I feel this should make my contract voidable. I switched back to Direct TV who had the channels I wanted at no extra charge. I canceled Dish Saturday morning and now they want to charge me $512. I do believe it was fraud on their part for lying to me about the channels.

Contact DISH Network’s customer service and escalate your complaint, providing the recorded details and emphasizing that you were misled about channel availability. Request they waive the cancellation fee due to the misrepresentation. If they refuse, consider filing a complaint with the consumer protection agency or seeking legal advice on voiding the contract based on unmet service expectations.

DISH Network Service

I have been a faithful customer to Dish Network for nearly 8 years. My service was inadvertently interrupted during a period in which there was a billing dispute around April of 2023. The issue was finally resolved and credits were provided in order that I keep the rate for my Welcome Package. My card on file for debuting the monthly payment was compromised and my bill became past due pending receipt of the new card. As a result my rate increased and I was billed 12.99 in late fees. After speaking with a CSR, Joseph and a Supervisor, Sam (whom were very professional and seemed to have been sincere in their efforts to assist, I paid the past due bill of $52.12. I requested time to have upper management review b this issue because I love Dish, but I am seeking the credit adjustment to reduce my bill to the monthly amount billed as of April 2024 and prior; as well as, an adjustment for the late fee, so that I may pay my current bill on or before February 26th and remain a loyal customer. Please cell me with resolution. Thank you kindly.

Claimed loss: No particular loss, simply excess billing

Desired outcome: Adjustment of monthly bill as promised and waiver of late fee and disconnection fee.

DISH Network dishtv "scrambled" channels

Just want to give you some constructive feedback.

We're in a hotel that uses dishtv. We/ve been here from Jan 25 until now, Feb 8.

I'm glad we got a chance to experience it. We will never get dishtv for our home. My biggest complaint is the number of times we have had "scrambled or weak signal" messages. Once the service was out all day.

I also don't like the way show, times, and channels are displayed. The channel number is far to the left, and by the time I have read the name of the show and the time, I can't see the channel.

You are comparing a commercial setup to a residential setup. Hotels Dish is not the same as bars or homes. Also, the support for hotels accounts is through third parties, not through Dish.

Lastly, the message you mentioned is a TV specific message, not a Dish message. So, it sounds like the hotel you stayed at decided to save money and purchase inferior equipment across the board.

There is never a guarantee that their equipment will work with third party equipment. The only guarantee is that it will work with theirs or be warrantied to work with theirs. Their remotes work with MOST 3rd party televisions.

They don’t send techs for remotes. They also do not send refurbished remotes, as remotes don’t need to ever be sent back.

DISH Network Billing agreements

A while back I agreed with one of your agents to pay 124.33 a month for our service. Shortly there after you started increasing the rates. I kept paying the 124.33 as agreed. Yesterday my wife told me that there was a message on the screen that you were going to cancel our service. I called and sat on hold for a long time, only to speak with someone in Costa Rica who did not speak english well at all. I can't tell you how upset I am that I cannot speak to someone in the United States who speaks English. My payments were current but there was a balance that had been building every month to a Grand Total of $11.78. We have had Dish for 20 years or so and you were ready to cut off our service for $11.78.

I waited on hold with one of your "customer service" people for 20 minutes, plus my time over $11.78. I cannot believe how poor of a business program that is. Today I tried calling again and have spent another 30 minutes of my life only to try and talk with the guy in Costa Rica. My cell phone number is [protected]. If somoen wants to call me great, otherwise I guess this account will self destruct in another month or so...HONOR YOUR AGREEMENTS OR DON"T MAKE THEM

DISH Network Billing and early termination fee

On Dec 23 2023 I talked to Dish sales person about getting Dish. We agreed on a package and he told me I could try it for 15 days and if I wasn’t happy with it I could cancel without a problem. We were on a recorded line. He did not tell me there would be a termination fee after the 15 days he told me I could try. I called to cancel and was charged $480 termination fee. Since I was told 15 days I thought he meant it. I asked for my case to be submitted to the review department. I reinstated my account on the hopper thinking I would wait to hear from the review department. I received my billing and they started a new subscription. I called to inquire as to why my bill went up. When I reinstated they started a new contract and all my promotional rates went away. I asked about canceling and was told I would have to pay another early termination fee. I never received any disclosures when the restarted a new contract. My install date was 12/23/2023 and I asked for cancellation on 12/28. Two termination fees for 7 days is very poor business practices

Desired outcome: Cancel service without a new termination fee

The first ETf would be overturned once restarted, but cancel again, and it will reapply. It doesn’t matter what anyone says, however had you read what you were signing you would see that there is no grace period. They will honor 24 hours as a courtesy, but once signed and in effect, the terms apply.

DISH Network $400 gift card

I switched to dish network and was promised a $400 gift card which I never received. I called them and they said I had to pay the first bill which I had already done they then told me I would receive it in the next few days. I never received it and I called back again and they said I had to use it to pay my bill . Isaid OK do that. They did not apply anything to my bill and I never received the card. After giving the yet another month I called again and was told they understood and I was given a number and name which I recorded on my paperwork at home. I was told I would be contacted in one week about the status of the card. 12 days later no card no email and no contact. I called again and was told that the card I never received was out of date . I ask to speak to someone else about this that can make decisions and she stated SHE was the supervisor. In not good language. I explained I was sure she was not the CEO nor did she own the company. But ask again how a card I never received could expire and why didn't they apply it to my bill. Iwas a medical provider for years and have dealt with insurance companies who give this type of runaround.

SHE said the decision was made she could not help me further and hung up. This is a SCAM and they should be held accountable.

Claimed loss: $400 + time and troubles

Desired outcome: I want my $400

DISH Network Dish service

Called to cancel service as where my mother is moving to dosent allow dish service. After going around and around with customer srv and there wanting to just move service I was transferred to a supposedly manager. Gave me name as JAMES and id 9YF. James would cancel service but there was a ETF for doing this. Claiming my 90yr old mother had agreed to a contract in Aug. She never knowingly agreed to such and was put in this new contract unwillingly. Let alone she knew she would be moving within 3-4mths.

James was unwillingly going to help us.

Nor would he transfer us to someone who could help and would not provide information to how we could submit a complaint. He said it stops here with him. No one else could help with our request or issues.

I please need the ETF waived. It was never right to add it to this account. When it was unknowingly know was being added.

Desired outcome: ETF CORRECTED

Everything you posted was conjecture. That’s not how contracts work.

DISH Network Cancel

Hi, Dish Network charged me 265.00 for closing the account which is not in my name! When ask Dish to provide that information about the CC oh we don't that! So I'm out 265.00 now having to get many people looking into all this! I'm disabled having to deal with dishonesty This CC has never been used one time to pay them. So I call and check my balance and money was gone. No notice that the money was being withdrawn. Terrible company and now I see why so many lawsuits. Timothy L Bradley

Claimed loss: 265.00

It’s not the card that is used for billing that they charge. When you got service, or upgraded, they asked for a card to place on file. This would be stored to cover costs on your account, when you cancel, per the agreement. If you’re saying someone used your card to qualify for their Dish account, you need to file an identity theft afadavit. If you allowed someone to qualify with your card, then that argument is between you and that person.

DISH Network Sign up and local networks in our area 89421

There seems to be a disconnect with dish tv cust. Service and when the installer tech arrives. Last time we had a dish tech here the set up sheet did not have what we had agreed to on the paper. So kicked the installer out.

Have direct tv and have had a price increase so looking at dish tv for a sign up but can't seem to get our local stations on paper, reno network and stations. Our zip is 89421 at 350 jaca rd. Had a phone call today with dish customer service and the person would not send me a agreed to sign up program sheet with local stations on it. Asked to send a usps letter or email on our agreement and was told could not do that and stated it would be a done deal if we get a invoice with an agreed to local stations and basic set up for $84.00 for one tv. Can't believe a word the cust. Service dept says. So have to have it in writing!

Desired outcome: Sign up with an agreed to local channels programing

The agreement guarantees no channels, and locals are designated by the FCc. They can’t and won’t send you your request for those reasons. You can review the agreement online at their website.
