On August 29th at 11am at the Esso on Cumberland St. In Thunder Bay Ontario I attended this facility to purchase gas. I parked my truck at the pump and went inside to pre pay for $15 gas.
I told the worker, Hiron I was purchasing gas at pointed to my vehicle and said on 1 or 2. The numbers weren't visible due to my truck blocking them however it was only vehicle kn that row so I assumed it was self explanatory which pump I was pre paying for. My partner was waiting at the pump to get my ok that he could start pumping. I gave him the thumbs up and he began pumping. During that he checked under his hood.. once he was done he realized the pump did not stop at the pre paid amount and had gone up to 48 dollars. We immediately stopped and went inside to see what to do.
The attendant was quite rude with both of us and stated that I had told him the wrong pump and I was at fault. I did not have the money and I asked for us to resolve this. I was treated very rude and ignorantly in this situation and was blamed for it. I tried to be cordial and calm however his tone and matter of talking was very condescending. I asked to go home to get the money however he would not let me leave. My partner ended up going home while the attendant made me stay.
I am not impressed first of all by the mistake that he made as well as the ignorant and rude way he dealt with it. He took no responsibility and spoke to me very ignorantly in a store full of people. I will not be attending this location if and Esso at all in the future and will he recommending the same to anyone I know.
